  I have a SQL Query which works in SQL Management Studio: Select Id From table t Where t.Date= (Select Max(Date) From ( Select * From table where ReferenceId = xy) u) Reason is, from all entries with a certain foreign key, I want to receive the one with the highest date. I tried to reform this Query for use in NHibernate, and I got IQuery query = session.CreateQuery(String.Format( @"Select t.Id From table t Where t.Date = (Select Max(Date) From (Select * From table t where t.ReferenceItem.Id = " + item.ReferenceItem.Id + ")u)")); I get the error message: "In expected" How do I have to form the NHibernate query? • INSERT INTO statement that copies rows and auto-increments non-identity key ID column

  Given a table that has three columns ID (Primary Key, not-autoincrementing) GroupID SomeValue I am trying to write a single SQL INSERT INTO statement that will make a copy of every row that has one GroupID into a new GroupID. Example beginning table: ID | GroupID | SomeValue ------------------------ 1 | 1 | a 2 | 1 | b Goal after I run a simple INSERT INTO statement: ID | GroupID | SomeValue ------------------------ 1 | 1 | a 2 | 1 | b 3 | 2 | a 4 | 2 | b I thought I could do something like: INSERT INTO MyTable ( [ID] ,[GroupID] ,[SomeValue] ) ( SELECT (SELECT MAX(ID) + 1 FROM MyTable) ,@NewGroupID ,[SomeValue] FROM MyTable WHERE ID = @OriginalGroupID ) This causes a PrimaryKey violation since it will end up reusing the same Max(ID)+1 value multiple times as it seems. Is my only recourse to a bunch of INSERT statements in a T-SQL WHILE statement that has an incrementing Counter value? I also don't have the option of turning the ID into an auto-incrementing Identity column since that would breaking code I don't have source for.

• Change a Recursive function that has a for loop in it into an iterative function?

  So I have this function that I'm trying to convert from a recursive algorithm to an iterative algorithm. I'm not even sure if I have the right subproblems but this seems to determined what I need in the correct way, but recursion can't be used you need to use dynamic programming so I need to change it to iterative bottom up or top down dynamic programming. The basic recursive function looks like this: Recursion(i,j) { if(i>j) return 0; else { //This finds the maximum value for all possible subproblems and returns that for this problem for(int x = i; x < j; x++) { if(some subsection i to x plus recursion(x+1,j) is > current max) max = some subsection i to x plus recursion(x+1,j) } } } This is the general idea, but since recursions typically don't have for loops in them I'm not sure exactly how I would convert this to iterative. Does anyone have any ideas?

  I'm trying to set up a query that shows the first post of each thread and is ordered by the date of the last post in each thread.   UPDATE: My mistake - I made a typo. Nevermind this question. I'm using php to update a mysql database. The resultant query I'm using when i print it out on my webpage before executing is as follows: INSERT INTO perch2_content_items (itemOrder, regionID, pageID, itemRev, itemID, itemJSON, itemSearch ) SELECT MAX(itemOrder)+1, 105, 81, 11, 118, 'json', 'search' FROM perch2_content_items WHERE regionID=105 When I copy and paste this query directly into the phpmyadmin SQL interface, it works fine. The table gets updated.   Hi there, I have a gridview which contains a textbox control. I need to show the calendar for the user to pick the date and certain dates are to be disabled using jquery. I found a post on stackoverflow that talked about how to disable certain dates. I am done with that part, except not sure how to pass the textbox control to this jquery function.   Hey, I'm really struggling with this one. I have tried to sequentially map the data from Y[0][0] to Cr[MAX][MAX], even printed out the C struct in action but didn't manage to wrap my head around the method used to put the data in there. I've been struggling overnight with this and have to get back to the army tonight, so any immediate help is very welcome and appreciated. Thanks

• C Builder TForm not allocated or created properly all its controls

  Hi, I would know how i can check that all the controls on the form is created and initialized. I have form i am showing when user presses the 'update' button. It have only TProgressBar control. The handle is not NULL for this control and at random stages it can or can't set the Position/Max values. When i set TProgressBar-Max value to some integer it remains 0 after. So the question is: 1) How to really create the form and all controls on it (i am currently using just Form-Show() method, which as i can check calls the constructor) 2) How to check that all controls on the form is created and PAINTED (showed) Thanks

  I cannot get it working although I am very close to an acceptable solution. I can drag the Dock if it is only a rectangle. But if I add a node (e.g. an image) to this dock I am not able to get a working solution. Do you have a code snippet, link or other advices for me? The tricky part is, that I only want the lastest "TimeStamp" where "State" was false. But now I also need the "State" for the lastest "TimeStamp". I tried this: SELECT p.ProductName, dt.State, dt.MaxTimeStamp, p.Responsible FROM Product p LEFT JOIN (SELECT ProductID, MAX(TimeStamp) AS MaxTimeStamp, State FROM StateLog WHERE State = 0 GROUP BY ProductID, Status) dt ON p.ProductID =dt.ProductID ORDER BY p.ProductName; But it didn't work, because it gave me the "State" for the lastest "TimeStamp". So I hope there is some clever heads out there that can help me. I'm guessing that this is either very simple or very hard to solve.

  I thought i'd speed up my django projects, by letting apache doing some caching for me. Unfortunately I see that apache never caches my dynamic pages. Has mod_cache problems with mod_wsgi served code ? • Using reshape + cast to aggregate over multiple columns

  In R, I have a data frame with columns for Seat (factor), Party (factor) and Votes (numeric). I want to create a summary data frame with columns for Seat, Winning party, and Vote share. For example, from the data frame df <- data.frame(party=rep(c('Lab','C','LD'),times=4), votes=c(1,12,2,11,3,10,4,9,5,8,6,15), seat=rep(c('A','B','C','D'),each=3)) I want to get the output seat winner voteshare 1 A C 0.8000000 2 B Lab 0.4583333 3 C C 0.5000000 4 D LD 0.5172414 I can figure out how to achieve this. But I'm sure there must be a better way, probably a cunning one-liner using Hadley Wickham's reshape package. Any suggestions? For what it's worth, my solution uses a function from my package djwutils_2.10.zip and is invoked as follows. But there are all sorts of special cases it doesn't deal with, so I'd rather rely on someone else's code. aggregateList(df, by=list(seat=seat), FUN=list(winner=function(x) x$party[which.max(x$votes)], voteshare=function(x) max(x$votes)/sum(x$votes)))
