  • How to get four following text inputs after each checkbox?

    - by Richard Knop
I am traversing checkboxes like this: $('.day').each(function() { // here I need to get the following 4 text inputs in the HTML // and set some attributes on them }); After every checkbox there are four text input fields (there are also some div, span tags for CSS around them). So inside the loop above I need to get four text input fields that follow the checkbox in the HTML source so I can set some attributes on them. How would I go about that?

  • Pulling .live() functionality out of jQuery

    - by Daniel
I am writing a Firefox Add-On that currently is depending on jQuery for the following things: Selectors Animations A special .live("focus") hail-mary event-catching maneuver that happens to work with jQuery 1.4.2 (but not 1.4.4) jQuery isn't well suited for functioning inside XUL, and it's a miracle we've gotten this far with it. We're trying to remove the jQuery requirements, the first two are easy (animations are simple, and we can use .querySelector() instead of jQuery), but the .live has proven impossible to do on our own. I've tried reading the source code, but I haven't been able to piece it apart. What is the jQuery .live function doing? There's clearly a lot more going on than document.addEventListener("focus"/"focusin",function_to_pick_apart_events). What else is going on here?

  • Firefox running infinitely even after condition met in jquery function

    - by Kyle
    The following function is called with setTimeout(function () { get_progress(fileID,fileName)},8000); upon a form submit. The purpose of the function is to get read_file.php to read a txt file that stores the file upload status from a form (in percentage). Upon reaching 80%, my Firefox seems to run infinitely even when HEAD returns an error. Am I have too many recursions or have I used a wrong condition that's causing get_progress to run repeatedly even when filename does not exist in the folder ? function get_progress( fileID, filename) { $.ajax({ url: filename, type: 'HEAD', success: function() { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'read_file.php', data: 'filename=' +filename, success: function(html) { document.getElementById(fileID).innerHTML = html + ' <img src="images/loading.gif" />' setInterval(function() {get_progress(fileID,filename)},4000); } }); } });}

  • jquery next siblings

    - by Contra
Hi stackoverflow! (first post!) Ive been trying to get this problem solved, but I cant seem to figure it out without some serious workarounds. if I have the following html code: <ul> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> </ul> Now, how do I now just select the li's following the first parent (or second, for that matter)? Basically selecting an li with class=parent and the following siblings until it reaches another li with the parent class. I could restructure the list with nested lists, but I dont want to do that. Any suggestions?

  • Adding a link using JQuery html() is not click-able on IE6

    - by Abs
Hello all, I add html to a page using JQuery's html() function. This works great on most browsers except IE6. I can work round this by adding a click event etc but I want to fix the issue without extra tape! Any ideas why this doesn't work on IE6? $('#button_holder').html('<a href="#" onclick="run_activity_upload(); return false;" id="save_button">Upload</a>'); Thanks, Abs

  • Creating a json obj from a string when working without a net connection?

    - by user246114
Hi, I have a json object returned from a third party api, it looks like: {"version":"1.0","encoding":"UTF-8"} I'm going to be working on my project without a network connection, so I have to do everything locally. How can I create an instance of a json object locally for testing? Say I copy the above string, can I do something like: var json = null; if (debugging_locally) { json = new jsonObj('{"version":"1.0","encoding":"UTF-8"}'); } else { json = doAjaxCall(); } doStuffWithJsonObj(json); so I just want to create a json object from a stored string if debugging locally - how can I do that? Thanks

  • require.js - How can I set a version on required modules as part of the URL?

    - by Ovesh
I am using require.js to require JS modules in my application. I need a way to bust client cache on new JS modules, by way of a different requested URL. i.e., if the file hello/there.js has already been cached on the client, I can change the file name to force the browser to get the new file. In other words, for the module hello/there, I'd like require.js to request the url hello/there___v1234___.js (the file name can look different, it's just an example), according to a version string which is accessible on the client. What is the best way to achieve that?

  • Problem with adding integers in an array

    - by rshivers
Hello again, I'm trying to loop through my totals in order to get a grand total for my web app. So far the code I am working with is the following: function calcAllFields() { var name = parseFloat($('div [name = total[]]').text()); var totArray = $.makeArray(name); var total = 0; for (var i = 0; i < totArray.length; i++) { total += totArray[i]; } $("#target1").text(total); } Instead of adding integers, something is being read as a string. Say I want to add 200 + 50, instead of 250 I get 20050. Could anyone please point out what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

  • client-side vs server-side

    - by amalafrida
In general, should one design in order to place processing load on client-side? More specifically, a search engine to locate subscriber information requires a fair amount of parsing (multiple phone numbers to sort and format, hour of day, timezone, comparisons for possible substitutions of user information, etc.). Again, in general, is it preferred that one have client-side do the work? It seems to me 'yes' in a situation in which one will have many thousands of hits per minute. Use php for quick database queries ... process retrieved data client-side. yes ... no?

  • how to dynamically (re)position an element according to the bottom of the page using JS / Jquery?

    - by jon
Hi All, the back story: i have a tab section on a page which when navigated through displays sections (divs) of varying height. the result, is that certain inputs (which are strangely positioned for reasons i can't change) on this page reposition themselves problematically. the proposed solution: as the page height changes, have these problem inputs repositioned according to the page bottom (from which their appropriate distances are always a constant). what i'm thinking is that i need some js that does something like, page height change triggers input position from bottom to = x. there are two inputs if that's at all relevant. :) if only there was css for this (i know there is under normal circumstances, but trust me -- not in this case). thanks for your time & help i've been struggling with this for weeks!

  • Difference between jQuery click, bind, live, delegate & trigger functions( with example)

    - by I Like PHP
Hello All, I know there are a lot of questions similar to this, but I want to know clear difference between all of these jQuery functions together on this page with an example, so that it will be very helpful for me to understand the mechanism of all of these functions. I have also read the reference on jQuery main site, but there is no comparison between these: $().click(fn) $().bind('click',fn) $().live('click',fn) $().delegate('td','click',fn) $().trigger('click') // UPDATED Please do not refer any link if there is a part of question belong to that. Please describe how all four function exactly works in different manner, and which should be preferred in which situation. Note: If there are any other function with same functionality/mechanism , then please share. Thanks a lot. Update i have also seen $(trigger) function? is this works similar to above four function ?
