  • allignment issue of div tag

    - by Quasar the space thing
I am trying to create a web page where on click of a button I can add div tags. What I thought to do was that I'll create two div tags within a single div so that over all presentation will be uniform and similar to a table having two columns and multiple rows and the first column contains only label's and second column will contain textbox. Here is the JS file : var counter = 0; function create_div(type){ var dynDiv = document.createElement("div"); dynDiv.id = "divid_"+counter; dynDiv.class="main"; document.body.appendChild(dynDiv); question(); if(type == 'ADDTEXTBOX'){ ADDTEXTBOX(); } counter=counter+1; } function question(){ var question_div = document.createElement("div"); question_div.class="question"; question_div.id = "question_div_"+counter; var Question = prompt("Enter The Question here:", ""); var node=document.createTextNode(Question); question_div.appendChild(node); var element=document.getElementById("divid_"+counter); element.appendChild(question_div); } function ADDTEXTBOX(){ var answer_div = document.createElement("div"); answer_div.class="answer"; answer_div.id = "answer_div_"+counter; var answer_tag = document.createElement("input"); answer_tag.id = "answer_tag_"+counter; answer_tag.setAttribute("type", "text"); answer_tag.setAttribute("name", "textbox"); answer_div.appendChild(answer_tag); var element=document.getElementById("divid_"+counter); element.appendChild(answer_div); } Here is the css file : .question { width: 40%; height: auto; float: left; display: inline-block; text-align: justify; word-wrap:break-word; } .answer { padding-left:10%; width: 40%; height: auto; float: left; overflow: auto; word-wrap:break-word; } .main { width: auto; background-color:gray; height: auto; overflow: auto; word-wrap:break-word; } My problem is that the code is working properly but both the divisions are not coming in a straight line. after the first div prints on the screen the second divisions comes in another line. How can I make both the div's come in the same line ? Thank You. PS : should I stick with the current idea of using div or should I try some other approach ? like tables ?

  • Serializing to JSON in jQuery

    - by Herb Caudill
I know how to serialize an object to JSON in ASP.NET Ajax, but I'm trying to do things on the client in a less Microsoft-specific way. I'm using jQuery. Is there a "standard" way to do this? My specific situation: I have an array defined something like this: var countries = new Array(); countries[0] = 'ga'; countries[1] = 'cd'; ... and I need to turn this into a string to pass to $.ajax() like this: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Concessions.aspx/GetConcessions", data: "{'countries':['ga','cd']}", ... Edit (clarification) I realize there are a number of JSON libraries out there, but I'd like to avoid introducing a new dependency (if I'm going to do that, I might as well use ASP.NET Ajax's built-in JSON serializer).

  • why jquery can't be used in my $(document).ready() function?

    - by Firegun
The page can be viewed at http://cistrome.org/cps/seqconfig?did=2693 When load in Firebugs, it gives me this error: TypeError: $(".open_gene").on is not a function [Break On This Error] $(".open_gene").on('change', function(event) { However, if I type in this expression in Firebug's console, it can be evaluated as a function without any problems: >>> $(".open_gene").on function() I was wondering what might be the reason to cause this issue. Does anyone have ideas about this? Thanks!

  • Only add if not already in place

    - by Woppie
Here's my data structure: var data = [ { id: '1924', info: 'boo' }, { id: '1967', info: 'foo' } ]; The id value should be unique, but the info may not be unique. How would I add new data into the data hash only if the id of the new data is unique? Is the only way to iterate over the whole hash and see if there is such an id already in place? data.push({ id: '1967', info: 'goo-goo' }); //should not be added data.push({ id: '1963', info: 'goo-goo' }); //should be added

  • Best way to make sure I get all available options array/loop

    - by jaz872
OK, here is my problem. I'm looking for the best way to loop through a bunch of options to make sure that I hit all available options. Some detail. I've created a feature that allows a client to build images that are basically other images layered on top of each other. These other images are split up into different groups. They have links on the side of the image that they can click to scroll through all the different images to view them. I'm now making an automated process that is going to run the function that changes the image when a user clicks one of the links. I need to make sure that every possible combo of the different images is hit during this process. So I have an array with the number of options for each group. The current array is [3, 9, 3, 3] My question is what is the best way to loop through this to make sure that all possible options will be shown? I apologize if this seems simple for someone out there, but I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around it. Hopefully if that person is out there, they can give a helping hand :)

  • php Mail function; Is this way of using it safe?

    - by Camran
    I have a classifieds website, and inside each classified, there is a small form. This form is for users to be able to tip their "friends": <form action="/bincgi/tip.php" method="post" name="tipForm" id="tipForm"> Tip: <input name="email2" id="email2" type="text" size="30 /> <input type="submit" value="Skicka Tips"/> <input type="hidden" value="<?php echo $ad_id;?>" name="ad_id2" id="ad_id2" /> <input type="hidden" value="<?php echo $headline;?>" name="headline2" id="headline2" /> </form> The form is then submitted to a tip.php page, and here is my Q, is this below code safe, ie is it good enough or do I need to make some sanitations and more safety details? $to = filter_var($_POST['email2'], FILTER_SANITIZE_EMAIL); $ad_id = $_POST['ad_id2']; $headline = $_POST['headline2']; $subject = 'You got a tip'; $message ='Hi. You got a tip: '.$headline.'.\n'; $headers = 'From: [email protected]\r\n'; mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers); I haven't tested the above yet.

  • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

    - by The.Anti.9
I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. Heres the code: $.get('util/util.php', { action: 'start', dbname: db, url: starturl, crawldepth: depth }, function(data) { if (data == 'true') { status = 1; $('#0').append(starturl + "<ul></ul>"); $('#gobutton').hide(); $('#loading').show("slow"); while(status == 1) { setTimeout("update()",10000); } } else { show_error("Form data incomplete!"); } }); and heres the URL that I see in the developer console: http://localhost/pci/util/util.php?action=start&dbname=1hkxorr9ve1kuap2.db

  • Append before parent after getSelection()

    - by sanceray3
Hi all, I have one question. I try to develop a little WYSIWYG editor. I would like create a <h1> button which allows me to generate a <h1> title (by clicking on button after text selection in <p> element). I obtain the selection with window.getSelection().... But now, I would like to put my append("<h1>my text selected</h1>") just before the <p>. It’s my problem, because my <p> elements don’t have id or class. So do you know a means to put my append just before the <p> where my text has been selected? I don’t know if with my bad English you’ll understand me! Thanks very much for your help.

  • jquery: i have to use parseInt() even when deal with numbers, why?

    - by Syom
    i have the following script <select id="select1"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> <select id="select2"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> and jquery $("#select2").change(function() { var max_value = parseInt($("#select2 :selected").val()); var min_value = parseInt($("#select1 :selected").val()); if(max_value < min_value) { $("#select1").val($(this).val()); } }); and now, what i can't understand anyway - if values of option elements are integer numbers, why i have to use parseInt()? in some cases it doesn't work without parseInt(). Thanks

  • How to place some text over the DIV without breaking hover area of this DIV?

    - by Andr
I'm total noob with CSS and it looks like hell =/ I have absolute positioned DIV and I handle mouse events over this DIV with JS like this: <div style='position: absolute; left: 0px; width:50px; height: 50px;' onmouseover='this.style.border="2px solid red"' onmouseout='this.style.border="1px solid black"'> </div> <div style='position: absolute;'>SOME TEXT</div> I need to place some text over this DIV and over the few same DIVs, but if I place any element over this DIV onMouseOut event is firing when mouse cursor switch to text. Tag with text can't be inside the DIV. Playing with z-index didn`t help. My browser is IE8.

  • Next/Previous click jQuery UI

    - by madjester
I am trying to add next/previous buttons on a button click using the jQuery UI Slider. I found this code... $("#down").click(function() { var s = $("#slider"), val = s.slider("value"), step = s.slider("option", "step"); s.slider("value", val - step); }); $("#up").click(function() { var s = $("#slider"), val = s.slider("value"), step = s.slider("option", "step"); s.slider("value", val + step); }); Here: http://osdir.com/ml/jquery-ui/2009-03/msg00617.html However this only changes the value of the Slider, moving the slider handle, but it doesn't actually slide the element. Little help?

  • Is canvas security model ignoring access-control-allow-origin headers?

    - by luklatlug
It seems that even if you set the access-control-allow-origin header to allow access from mydomain.org to an image hosted on domain example.org, the canvas' origin-clean flag gets set to false, and trying to manipulate that image's pixel data will trigger a security exception. Shouldn't canvas' obey the access-control-allow-origin header and allow access to image's data without throwing an exception?

  • jquery next siblings

    - by Contra
Hi stackoverflow! (first post!) Ive been trying to get this problem solved, but I cant seem to figure it out without some serious workarounds. if I have the following html code: <ul> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> </ul> Now, how do I now just select the li's following the first parent (or second, for that matter)? Basically selecting an li with class=parent and the following siblings until it reaches another li with the parent class. I could restructure the list with nested lists, but I dont want to do that. Any suggestions?

  • Alert Box Running First?

    - by corymathews
I have some jQuery/JS below. The first thing to run is the alert box at the end. $(document).ready(function() { $("#id1 img , .msg").stop().animate( { width: '300px', height: '300px'}, { duration: 'slow', easing: 'easeInSine' }).pause(3000); $(".msg").animate( { width: '50px', height: '50px' }, { duration: 498, easing: 'easeOutSine' }); $("#id1 img").animate( { width: '50px', height: '50px' }, { duration: 500, easing: 'easeOutSine' }); $("#id1 img , .msg").animate( { width: '300px',height: '300px'}, { duration: 'slow', easing: 'easeInSine' }).pause(3000); alert('eh?'); }); I do have a easing plugin. If I run this the alert will show, and then the first animate will happen in the background but not be shown. It will just appear at the final size. Shouldn't the alert run at the end of all the animation? Can anyone explain why this is happening?
