• Why do programmers sometimes refer to "C++/STL" like it's a separate language?

  This may seem a trivial question, but it's one that's bothered me a lot lately. Why do some programmers refer to "C++/STL" like it's a different language? The STL is part of the C++ standard library -- and therefore is part of the language, "C++". It's not a separate component, and it does not live alone in the scope of things C++. Yet some continually act like it's a different language altogether. Why?

  Just like the question says, I want to be able to use psexec to start Internet Explorer, then load a particular website in the browser. I know how to start IE, just can't make a command that goes to a particular webpage. This is what I have so far: psexec "C:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" I just can't figure the syntax for loading anything other than the default start page Thanks!

Then the user goes to another page, and from that page calls my page from a script, like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://domain.com/page.aspx?id=6" ></script> But i cant access the cookie when it calls my page, why not? and how to work around it? • Can I view a list of public variables of some Adobe Air app or web flash file from another app?

  I was thinking about creating making AIM pluggin that checks pandora one (desktop) or pandora website periodically to see what is currently playing and update a user's status. I suppose the main question is there a clever way to access a "public" variable from some open Adobe Air process? I KNOW this sounds like some crazy security flaw, but it may also be a feature. I am pretty sure javascript can potentially handle it. Thanks!

I have the following ruby code, which works fine. def add_zeros number, zeros number = number.to_s zeros_to_add = zeros - number.length zeros_to_add.times do number = "0#{number}" end number end But if I replace number = "0#{number}" With number.insert(0, "0") Then I get TypeError: can't modify frozen string, does anyone know why this is?
