  I've got an array of characters which contains a string: char buf[MAXBUFLEN]; buf[0] = 'f'; buf[1] = 'o'; buf[2] = 'o'; buf[3] = '\0'; I'm looking to pass this string as an argument to the gtk_text_buffer_insert function in order to insert it into a GtkTextBuffer. What I can't figure out is how to convert it to a const gchar *, which is what gtk_text_buffer_insert expects as its third argument. Can anybody help me out?

  I have a web form that collects information and submits it to a cgi that attempts to insert the data into LDAP. The problem is that I'm trying to use a variable with ::ldap::add and it's just not working.   I'm following along with the tutorial. And we are currently coding the Item class. I am using the 2008 edition, while the tutorial uses 2005. The code I am having issue with is: public string Weight { get { return weight; } set { weight = value; } } earlier in the code, we had: private int Weight = 1; as you can see, they are both different variables, int, and string. I'm doing exactly as the tutorial shows, on mine, I get a conversion error, whereas in the tutorial, there are no errors, why is this? I'm doing exactly what the video shows.

• What are the pros/cons to these 2 ways of defining parameters for a web service method

  I have an existing web service I need to expand, but it has not gone into production yet. So, I am free to change the contracts as I see fit. But I am not sure of the best way to define the methods. I am leaning towards Method 2 for no other reason than I cannot think of good names to give the parameters classes! Are there any major disadvantages to using Method 2 over Method 1? • Reading int from a hidden field in .aspx

  Hi, I'm struggling to read an int from the hidden field on aspx page. <input type = "hidden" id = "myIntegerId" name = "integerId" value= "<%: Model.MyObjectId %>" runat = "server" /> The value is definately on the form, I can see it in the debugger and print it with <%: % When I read the form values in the controller, instead of an int I recieve a following string: <%: Model.MyObjectId % I have tried casting data in the hidden field to string and calling ToString() method on that field, neither has worked. The data is submitted using the post event. I have a feeling that I'm missing something very basic... Any help is greately appreciated. Thanks

I'm extremely new to Scala, and I realize my syntax might be completely wrong. I'm just trying to come up with a good design for this library before I start coding it. I'm willing to take suggestions for this, if I'm doing it the completely wrong way, or if there's a better way. The idea is that the API will take some sort of request object, use it to make a request in a thread via http, and when the response has been made, somehow signal back to the caller if the request was a success or an error. The request/error functions have to be executed on the main thread.

  Hey guys, -- I just parsed a big file and I created a list containing 42.000 strings/words. I want to query [against this list] to check if a given word/string belongs to it. So my question is: What is the most efficient way for such a lookup? A first approach is to sort the list [list.sort()] and then just use the if word in list: print 'word' -- which is really trivial and I am sure there is a better way to do it. My goal is to apply a fast lookup that finds whether a given string is in this list or not. If you have any ideas of another data structure, they are welcome. Yet, I want to avoid for now more sophisticated data-structures like Tries etc. I am interested in hearing ideas (or tricks) about fast lookups or any other python library methods that might do the search faster than the simple 'in'. Since the staging server has different database settings (in the app.config) from my localhost, is there any way I can store the connection string outside the app.config so that I can easily get to it? Also, is it possible to store the database connection string, then access it via the app.config? This might sound odd, but I'm using a dll from a CMS that uses the value in the .config file.

This action is done thousands of times a day, and I get this exception about once every 5 seconds. From what I understand it happens when something changes in the database in the period between creating DataContext and updating it. Am I right? How can I fix it? Update I just debugged the error and found the following: Table name: dbo.Stats current value: 9852039 original value: 9852038 database value: 9852039 The Stats table is updated constantly. So how can I still make LINQ save the changes. With "classical" SQL Server access through SqlDataCommand I never had problems like that.
