  • Why does WebSharingAppDemo-CEProviderEndToEnd sample still need a client db connection after scope c

    - by Don
I'm researching a way to build an n-tierd sync solution. From the WebSharingAppDemo-CEProviderEndToEnd sample it seems almost feasable however for some reason, the app will only sync if the client has a live SQL db connection. Can some one explain what I'm missing and how to sync without exposing SQL to the internet? The problem I'm experiencing is that when I provide a Relational sync provider that has an open SQL connection from the client, then it works fine but when I provide a Relational sync provider that has a closed but configured connection string, as in the example, I get an error from the WCF stating that the server did not receive the batch file. So what am I doing wrong? SqlConnectionStringBuilder builder = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(); builder.DataSource = hostName; builder.IntegratedSecurity = true; builder.InitialCatalog = "mydbname"; builder.ConnectTimeout = 1; provider.Connection = new SqlConnection(builder.ToString()); // provider.Connection.Open(); **** un-commenting this causes the code to work** //create anew scope description and add the appropriate tables to this scope DbSyncScopeDescription scopeDesc = new DbSyncScopeDescription(SyncUtils.ScopeName); //class to be used to provision the scope defined above SqlSyncScopeProvisioning serverConfig = new SqlSyncScopeProvisioning(); .... The error I get occurs in this part of the WCF code: public SyncSessionStatistics ApplyChanges(ConflictResolutionPolicy resolutionPolicy, ChangeBatch sourceChanges, object changeData) { Log("ProcessChangeBatch: {0}", this.peerProvider.Connection.ConnectionString); DbSyncContext dataRetriever = changeData as DbSyncContext; if (dataRetriever != null && dataRetriever.IsDataBatched) { string remotePeerId = dataRetriever.MadeWithKnowledge.ReplicaId.ToString(); //Data is batched. The client should have uploaded this file to us prior to calling ApplyChanges. //So look for it. //The Id would be the DbSyncContext.BatchFileName which is just the batch file name without the complete path string localBatchFileName = null; if (!this.batchIdToFileMapper.TryGetValue(dataRetriever.BatchFileName, out localBatchFileName)) { //Service has not received this file. Throw exception throw new FaultException<WebSyncFaultException>(new WebSyncFaultException("No batch file uploaded for id " + dataRetriever.BatchFileName, null)); } dataRetriever.BatchFileName = localBatchFileName; } Any ideas?

  • Referring to a non-final variable data inside an inner class

    - by shoaibmohammed
Im doing a program in GWT. Here is the snippet where Im having problem private String[] populateRSSData() { 1==>> String[] data = null; try { new RequestBuilder(RequestBuilder.GET, "../database.php?action=populaterss").sendRequest(null, new RequestCallback() { @Override public void onResponseReceived(Request request, Response response) { 2==>> data=response.getText().split("~"); } @Override public void onError(Request request, Throwable exception) { Window.alert(exception.getMessage()); } }); } catch (RequestException e) { Window.alert(e.getMessage()); } return data; } Now the problem arises that I get an error that the variable 1==>> data should be declared final. But if I declare it as final then i cannot store the datas in 2==>> The error i get Cannot refer to a non-final variable data inside an inner class defined in a different method RSS_Manager.java Please suggest

  • How to represent datetime of deifferent time zomes in C#

    - by Mohoch
Hi. I have a .NET WebService (written in C#), that is supposed to serve people around the world. With each request I get the user's datetime in his own time zone with the format : "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm ZZZZ". I have to convert the string to something representing the original date and time and specifying the time zone in GMT. I have to make some logical calculations and keep it in the database. The regular DateTime doe's not support this. it does not have a property specifying the time zone. When I try to convert my string into DateTime - it simply converts it to my local time. I do not want to keep my time in UTC, because I have some logic that has to run per user by his own time. Does anyone know a C# class that handles this? Thanks!

  • question about asynchronous http

    - by rantravee
Hi , I just want to check if I understood well the way asynchronous Http request work on Android. Suppose I make such a request and set a ResponseHandler<String> responseHandler to handle the response. By doing this is it possible to have the UI thread blocked waiting for the response ? The implication being that the code in the function: public String handleResponse(HttpResponse response) is also executed on the UI thread or is there silently spawned a thread that waits for the response and calls the handleResponse(HttpResponse response) function when the response arrives ?

  • Do I need multiple template specializations if I want to specialize for several kinds of strings?

    - by romkyns
For example: template<typename T> void write(T value) { mystream << value; } template<> void write<const char*>(const char* value) { write_escaped(mystream, value); } template<> void write<char*>(char* value) { write_escaped(mystream, value); } template<> void write<std::string>(std::string value) { write_escaped(mystream.c_str(), value); } This looks like I'm doing it wrong, especially the two variants for const and non-const char*. However I checked that if I only specialize for const char * then passing a char * variable will invoke the non-specialized version, when called like this in VC++10: char something[25]; strcpy(something, "blah"); write(something); What would be the proper way of doing this?

  • view is not rendered when returning ModelAndView

    - by adancu
Hi, I have the following problem. I need to export a PDF in a controller The code below, where I return a View, works as expected. @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.GET) public View exportReport( @RequestParam(value = "userName", required = true) String userName, @RequestParam(value = "startDate", required = true) Date startDate, @RequestParam(value = "endDate", required = true) Date endDate) { /////////////////////////////////////////// return new TimeSheetReportPdfView(); } The problem occurs if I change the method to return a ModelAndView: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.GET) public ModelAndView exportReport( @RequestParam(value = "userName", required = true) String userName, @RequestParam(value = "startDate", required = true) Date startDate, @RequestParam(value = "endDate", required = true) Date endDate) { /////////////////////////////////////////// return new ModelAndView(new TimeSheetReportPdfView(), model); } Now, the PDF is not exported, all I get is a blank page and nothing in the logs. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

  • SSIS: Update a RecordSet passed into a VB.NET ScriptTask

    - by Zambouras
What I am trying to accomplish is using this script task to continually insert into a generated RecordSet I know how to access it in the script however I do not know how to update it after my changes to the DataTable have been made. Code is Below: Dim EmailsToSend As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter Dim EmailsToSendDt As New DataTable("EmailsToSend") Dim CurrentEmailsToSend As New DataTable Dim EmailsToSendRow As DataRow EmailsToSendDt.Columns.Add("SiteMgrUserId", System.Type.GetType("System.Integer")) EmailsToSendDt.Columns.Add("EmailAddress", System.Type.GetType("System.String")) EmailsToSendDt.Columns.Add("EmailMessage", System.Type.GetType("System.String")) EmailsToSendRow = EmailsToSendDt.NewRow() EmailsToSendRow.Item("SiteMgrUserId") = siteMgrUserId EmailsToSendRow.Item("EmailAddress") = siteMgrEmail EmailsToSendRow.Item("EmailMessage") = EmailMessage.ToString EmailsToSend.Fill(CurrentEmailsToSend, Dts.Variables("EmailsToSend").Value) EmailsToSendDt.Merge(CurrentEmailsToSend, True) Basically my goal is to create a single row in a new data table. Get the current record set, merge the results so I have my result DataTable. Now I just need to update the ReadWriteVariable for my script. Do not know if I have to do anything special or if I can just assign it directly to the DataTable I.E. Dts.Variables("EmailsToSend").Value = EmailsToSendDt Thanks for the help in advanced.

  • What's the proper way of importing option lists into an Android app?

    - by Scott
I have been storing option lists for my Android app in a cloud table. For example, categories like "historical fiction","biography","science fiction", etc. I see the following pros and cons: Pro: I can make changes to the list without sending an app update to Google Play Not normalized - I can use the text in my other data tables instead of a reference ID Con: App needs to take time to download from the web each time (or at least check for changes) English only I believe the "proper" way to do this is the use the XML resource files. But I need to make sure the selection references correctly with my data. That is, my app needs to understand that "Poetry" and "Poesía" are the same thing. Is the correct thing to do: Forget about it since I'll never get to the point where I'm translating my app anyway Use a string-array and use the index (0...x) to know what the selection is Use a 2-dimensional string-array with a reference ID in the first column and the text in the second?

  • Linq to SQL Strange SQL Translation

    - by Master Morality
I have a simple query that is generating some odd SQL translations, which is blowing up my code when the object is saturated. from x in DataContext.MyEntities select new { IsTypeCDA = x.EntityType == "CDA" //x.EntityType is a string and EntityType.CDA is a const string... } I would expect this query should translate to: SELECT (CASE WHEN [t0].[EntityType] = @p1 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as [IsTypeCDA] ... Instead I get this : SELECT (CASE WHEN @p1 = [t0].[EntityType] THEN 1 WHEN NOT (@p1 = [t0].[EntityType]) THEN 0 ELSE NULL END) AS [IsTypeCDA] ... Since I'm saturating a POCO where IsTypeCDA is a bool, it blows up stating I can't assign null to bool. Any thoughts? Edit: fixed the property names so they make sense...

  • Comparing Page.User.Identity.Name to value in sql Table

    - by Peggy Fusselman
First, I am SO sorry if the answer is out there. I've looked and looked and feel this is such a simple thing that it should be obvious. I'm wanting to make sure only the person who added an event can modify it. Simple! I already have a datasource that has event_added_by as a data point. It is populating a FormView. SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [tbl_events] WHERE ([event_ID] = @event_ID)" And I have Page.User.Identity.Name. How do I compare the two? I can't pull the value from the label in the FormView so I need to find another way. if (!IsPostBack) { string uname = Page.User.Identity.Name; string owner = ""// this is where I need to grab the value from dsEvents; if (uname != owner) { //Send them somewhere saying they're not allowed to be here } } TIA for any help!

  • PHP/MySQL: Storing and retrieving UUIDS

    - by Greg
I'm trying to add UUIDs to a couple of tables, but I'm not sure what the best way to store/retrieve these would be. I understand it's far more efficient to use BINARY(16) instead of VARCHAR(36). After doing a bit of research, I also found that you can convert a UUID string to binary with: UNHEX(REPLACE(UUID(),'-','')) Pardon my ignorance, but is there an easy way to this with PHP and then turn it back to a string, when needed, for readability? Also, would it make much difference if I used this as a primary key instead of auto_increment? EDIT: Found part of the answer: $bin = pack("h*", str_replace('-', '', $guid)); How would you unpack it?

  • Time complexity O() of isPalindrome()

    - by Aran
I have this method, isPalindrome(), and I am trying to find the time complexity of it, and also rewrite the code more efficiently. boolean isPalindrome(String s) { boolean bP = true; for(int i=0; i<s.length(); i++) { if(s.charAt(i) != s.charAt(s.length()-i-1)) { bP = false; } } return bP; } Now I know this code checks the string's characters to see whether it is the same as the one before it and if it is then it doesn't change bP. And I think I know that the operations are s.length(), s.charAt(i) and s.charAt(s.length()-i-!)). Making the time-complexity O(N + 3), I think? This correct, if not what is it and how is that figured out. Also to make this more efficient, would it be good to store the character in temporary strings?

  • Can't get ellipsis to work on Android

    - by Mark
Hi, I have a TextView. I want it to ellipsize if longer than its available width. This does not work unless the input string has no spaces... can anyone provide an example of this working? I've tried different combinations of: singleLine="true" maxLines="1" scrollHorizontally="false" none of these have any effect. Again, if I supply a string that has no spaces in it, then the ellipsis appears correctly. What am I missing? I've tried this on 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, all same problem. Thanks

  • Issues querying Access '07 database in C#

    - by Kye
I'm doing a .NET unit as part of my studies. I've only just started, with a lecturer that as kinda failed to give me the most solid foundation with .NET, so excuse the noobishness. I'm making a pretty simple and generic database-driven application. I'm using C# and I'm accessing a Microsoft Access 2007 database. I've put the database-ish stuff in its own class with the methods just spitting out OleDbDataAdapters that I use for committing. I feed any methods which preform a query a DataSet object from the main program, which is where I'm keeping the data (multiple tables in the db). I've made a very generic private method that I use to perform SQL SELECT queries and have some public methods wrapping that method to get products, orders.etc (it's a generic retail database). The generic method uses a separate Connect method to actually make the connection, and it is as follows: private static OleDbConnection Connect() { OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection( @"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source=C:\Temp\db.accdb"); return conn; } The generic method is as follows: private static OleDbDataAdapter GenericSelectQuery( DataSet ds, string namedTable, String selectString) { OleDbCommand oleCommand = new OleDbCommand(); OleDbConnection conn = Connect(); oleCommand.CommandText = selectString; oleCommand.Connection = conn; oleCommand.CommandType = CommandType.Text; OleDbDataAdapter adapter = new OleDbDataAdapter(); adapter.SelectCommand = oleCommand; adapter.MissingSchemaAction = MissingSchemaAction.AddWithKey; adapter.Fill(ds, namedTable); return adapter; } The wrapper methods just pass along the DataSet that they received from the main program, the namedtable string is the name of the table in the dataset, and you pass in the query you wish to make. It doesn't matter which query I give it (even something simple like SELECT * FROM TableName) I still get thrown an OleDbException, stating that there was en error with the FROM clause of the query. I've just resorted to building the queries with Access, but there's still no use. Obviously there's something wrong with my code, which wouldn't actually surprise me. Here are some wrapper methods I'm using. public static OleDbDataAdapter GetOrderLines(DataSet ds) { OleDbDataAdapter adapter = GenericSelectQuery( ds, "orderlines", "SELECT OrderLine.* FROM OrderLine;"); return adapter; } They all look the same, it's just the SQL that changes.

  • Most efficient way for a lookup/search in a huge list (python)

    - by user229269
Hey guys, -- I just parsed a big file and I created a list containing 42.000 strings/words. I want to query [against this list] to check if a given word/string belongs to it. So my question is: What is the most efficient way for such a lookup? A first approach is to sort the list [list.sort()] and then just use the if word in list: print 'word' -- which is really trivial and I am sure there is a better way to do it. My goal is to apply a fast lookup that finds whether a given string is in this list or not. If you have any ideas of another data structure, they are welcome. Yet, I want to avoid for now more sophisticated data-structures like Tries etc. I am interested in hearing ideas (or tricks) about fast lookups or any other python library methods that might do the search faster than the simple 'in'. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I implement the same behavior as Dictionary.TryGetValue

    - by pblasucci
So, given then following code type MyClass () = let items = Dictionary<string,int>() do items.Add ("one",1) items.Add ("two",2) items.Add ("three",3) member this.TryGetValue (key, value) = items.TrygetValue (key, value) let c = MyClass () let d = Dictionary<string, int> () d.Add ("one",1) d.Add ("two",2) d.Add ("three",3) And the following test code let r1,v1 = d.TryGetValue "one" let r2,v2 = c.TryGetValue "one" The r1,v1 line works fine. The r2,v2 line bombs; complaining c.TryGetValue must be given a tuple. Interestingly, in each line the signature of TryGetValue is different. How can I get my custom implementation to exhibit the same behavior as the BCL version? Or, asked another way, since F# has (implicitly) the concept of tuple parameters, curried parameters, and BCL parameters, and I know how to distinguish between curried and tuple-style, how can I force the third style (a la BCL methods)? Let me know if this is unclear.
