  • How to connect to memcached from another machine

    I'm trying to use memcached from a different machine (which has access to my server), but I can't figure out how. on the memcached machine I can test the connection by running telnet 127.0.0.1 port And it works, but on the other machine it just keeps trying to connect telnet machine_address port Trying machine_address... I'm not sure if I should set up something else to get it working. I know the port is working and accessible because if I try to run other services on it, they works. Os is ubuntu

  • Windows 8.1 keeps prompting for Network Share Credentials after every log on or restart

    I have a Network drive Shared in a Workgroup with 3 clients. Two clients with Windows 7 have persistent connections to the Share. No issues with those two. My windows 8.1 client keeps prompting for credentials at every restart / log on. I spent hours looking around for a solution: I have stored cred in cred manager, and tried every possible combination (WORKGROUP\user , COMPUTERNAME\user, user, .. and so on). I have changed NT and NTLM negotiation in policy manager. I've compared the settings under GPO network security with a working win 7 computer, everything is pretty much the same. -I've captured Wireshark to see SMB negotiation process, honestly I see the messages flowing around, and the share sending AUTH DENIED.. which means is how the 8.1 client formats the request.... that makes the share reject it.. Now I still don't really know why. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Please see the "edit" section for the updated information. Sorry for yet another C++ dtor question... However I can't seem to find one exactly like mine as all the others are assigning to STL containers (that will delete objects itself) whereas mine is to an array of pointers. For some reason the destructor is going through the same point in the loop twice (0) and then dying. All of this occures before the "nothing seems to have gone wrong" line which I expected before any dtor was called. Thanks in advance :) EDIT The code I posted has some things removed that I thought were unnecessary but after copying and compiling the code I pasted I no longer get the error. What I removed was other integer attributes of the code. I am glad that it is not my memory management failing but rather another error. I have not made a copy and/or assignment operator yet as I was just testing the block tree out, I will almost certainly make them all private very soon. This version spits out -1073741819.   • javax.naming.InvalidNameException using Oracle BPM and weblogic when accessing directory

    We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. When the server cluster starts, one of the managed servers (the first to start) get overloaded and ran out of connections to the directory DB because of this repeatedly error. It looks like the engine is trying to get the info from the LDAP server but I don't know why it is building a wrong query. fuego.directory.DirectoryRuntimeException: Exception Argument: I found that delicious.com belonged to the same category as my to-be website. It served premium delicious dishes. Counter Argument: My to-be domain though belonging to the same category, specialized in serving free but delicious dishes or in giving out links(affiliate) to other sites serving premium delicious dishes. Additional Counter Arguments: 1.delicious.com was not in English. 2.the del.icio.us in my domain name though having the same spelling, is not going to be used in the same fashion. For eg.(this may not make sense, because the names have been changed)the d in delicious on my website actually stands for the greek letter Delta(?/d) and since internationalized domains are still not easily typable, I am going for the english equivalent.The prefix holds importance for the theme of the service which my website intends to offer. My Question: Can I use the domain name del.icio.us for my website? How are these kinds of matters dealt? (The domain names used are fictitious. And I have already registered the domain but have not started using it.I chanced upon this domain name because it was short, easy to remember and suited the theme of my website.)

  • Membership Provider Parte 1

    Asp.net ha sido una de las tecnologías creadas por Microsoft de mas rápido crecimiento por la facilidad para los desarrolladores de crear sitios web. Una de las partes de mayor importancia que tiene asp.net es el contar con el Membership Provider o proveedor de Membrecía, que permite la creación, manejo y mantenimiento de un sistema completo de control y autenticación de usuarios. Para dar inicio a la serie de post que escribiré sobre que es Membeship y cuáles son las funcionalidades principales daremos unas definiciones. Tal como se menciono anteriormente con el membership provider podemos crear un sistema de control de usuarios completos, entre las funcionalidades principales podemos encontrar: * Creación de usuarios * Almacenamiento de información en base de datos * Autenticación, bloqueos y seguimiento Otras de las ventajas que cabe resaltar, es que, algunos de los controles de asp.net ya traen "naturalmente" en sus funciones la implementación del membership provider, tal como el control "Login" o los controles de estado de usuario, lo cual nos permite que con solo arrastrarlos al diseñador estén funcionando. Membership provider es poderoso, pero su funcionalidad y seguridad se ven aumentadas cuando se integra con otros proveedores de asp.net como lo son RoleProvider y Profile Provider (estos los discutiremos en otros post). En la siguiente figura, podemos ver como se distribuyen algunoS provider creados por Microsoft Antes de iniciar con la implementación de membership debes conocer cosas básicas como el espacio de nombres al que pertenece, el cual es: System.Web.Security que se encuentra dentro del ensamblado System.Web. Algo que debe tomarse en cuenta, es que, para poder utilizar cualquiera de los miembros de la clase, debemos hacer la referencia respectiva. Por defecto, el membership provider está diseñado para trabajar directamente con SQL Server, de ahí que su nombre completo seria SQL Membership Provider. Sin embargo, debido a su gran flexibilidad podemos extenderlo a cualquier base de datos o bien modificarlo para adapatarlo a nuestras necesidades. En los siguientes posts, discutiremos como crear un proveedor personalizado utilizando Entity Framework, separando las capas de acceso y datos y cuáles son las principales funciones que podemos aplicar.   • Why doesn't the "scroll bar" on my laptop touchpad work?

I recently did an update (at some late hours) and i can no longer use right side of the touchpad to scroll. Can anyone tell me how to get the same function as I had in Windows and Ubuntu 11.10 ?   • Ubuntu 12.10 hotkeys not working properly [closed]

    A couple of weeks ago, I ran a distribution upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10. Unfortunately, something has seemed to happen with the hotkeys on the system. At first, I thought that maybe this was just a glitch with the global hotkeys. That didn't turn out to be the case, as the custom hotkey I added into the Ubuntu settings works for my editor. The only default hotkey that seems to have a problem launching is CTRL+ALT+T (Terminal). This wasn't such a big issue to begin with, because I can always just drag the Terminal to my launcher and launch it from there. However, I was on Chrome earlier and tried to do SHIFT+CTRL+DEL to clear the history and it failed. I then tried to do SHIFT+ESC, just to see if the hotkey for the task manager would work.. and it did. I also thought it could be something with the "CTRL" key, since SHIFT+ESC works, but SHIFT+CTRL+DEL doesn't. That didn't turn out to be the case either, as keys like CTRL+ALT+DEL (logout) work perfectly fine. Not quite sure how to go about this, and I haven't found any errors in any of /var/log that raises any suspicion.

  • inaccessible_boot_device after p2v Windows 2000 Pro SP4 to Workstation 6.5

    I am using the latest VMware Converter Standalone to p2v a physical Windows 2000 Professional SP4 PC. The PC is a standard Pentium with IDE disk from circa 2001. The disk is 20GB partitioned logically into C: and D. It converts with no errors (I did both disks into one VMDK). When I power on the VM in VMware Workstation 6.5 (or Vmware Player 2.5) it gets to the Win 2000 boot graphic then I get a BSOD with the classic 0x7B Stop error: inaccessible_boot_device. Is there anything I can do to get the vm to boot? I am lost for ideas, normally p2v of a basic IDE pc works flawlessly. I'm willing to put a bounty on this as I am trying to sort this out for a client urgently.

  • Using the RST3 plugin in the Leo Outliner

    I'm currently trying out the Leo Outliner, and I've heard quite a bit about the RST3 plugin that it has. I'm not planning to use Leo to program just yet -- at this point I'm wondering if it might be useful for generating HTML and PDF documents, as I'm quite currently enamored with RST and how it works. I'm using my Ubuntu Netbook Remix netbook (running 9.10, I believe). I think I've got it down pat, more or less -- I've installed docutils using the Synaptics Package Manager, and I think I've gotten SilverCity installed, as per the requirements -- I've downloaded the archive, and then run "sudo python setup.py install" with no errors. The thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to invoke the rst3 plugin itself. It doesn't appear in the Plugins menu for Leo right now, and the documentation I've managed to source doesn't seem to clearly explain how to use the plugin. Has anyone had any experience in using the rst3 plugin in Leo? It's a little confusing right now, and searches on Google doesn't seem to be helping much any more. I'm using the latest 4.7.1 final version of Leo from the Synaptics Package Manager (was informed that this would have offered the best integration with UNR, so I figured, what the heck). Have I missed out on any steps here, and are there any useful tutorials on how to use the rst3 plugin?

  • ethernet not working

    i wanted to know how do i setup an ethernet connection on a laptop,my isp gave me a telephone like cable which fits the ethernet port. i guess its the ethernet cable. when i connect it, nothing happens on the pc the ethernet card(realtek pcie gbe family controller) says cable not plugged in. i am using wired connection for first time.the system is completely stable with softwares .the drivers are also automatically updated through a manufacturer installed update system. the isp says there must be some sort of light on the port. whats the problem? how do get it working.

  • Remote site AD design (2003)

    A remote site has about 25 of our 50-ish employees. They have their own AD domain presently (2003) but I want to look at getting them onto the same global domain for ease of access/administration. The remote site has a VPN link but line speeds are very poor. I am already aware of tools like ADMT and have done a few migrations in the past (NT/2003 domains), but this is the first time I have the luxury of designing how this domain is organised. So I'm looking for tips on good AD design; would a remote site be better served as a sub-domain? would this reduce traffic? I am only currently looking at 2003 since only existing machine will be used.

  • How do you handle data archiving?

    Backups are one thing, but long term archival is another. For example, you might be required to store emails for 7 years, or keep all project data indefinitely. I used to save archives to tape, but then I've had tapes get destroyed (drives rip the tape out). So...write to 2 tapes I hear you say. Is that what others do? Have 2 (or more) tapes of the same data for redundancy? But then the other issue is that tapes cannot usually be read by different backup software vendors. Eg if you go from Arcserve - Backup Exec - Commvault over 10 years you would need to keep all 3 systems so that you could restore old data. Likewise for hardware. Old tapes might not be barcoded. Might not be compatible with the new library etc etc. So do you keep old tape hardware AND old software just in case you might need to restore a 10 year-old file? Or...when you move to a new backup system do you migrate all archived data to the new system and re-archive it onto new tapes? That could be a huge job. Any thoughts?

  • How to recover the plesk database?

    When I try to launch the Plesk administration page of you server I get the following error: ERROR: PleskMainDBException MySQL query failed: MySQL server has gone away The MySQL Server is working well. Although it seems that the plesk database is somehow corrupt and any action on this database results in a restart of the mysql process, so even queries to other databases on the same MySQL server will be lost. If I try to connect to the plesk database using phpMyAdmin, I can only see the number of tables, the database had originally. But I am not able to open the tables listing. As soon as I try it, the mysql process crashes again. Trying to connect to the database using ssh works. I can even run a SELECT statement against any table an get a result. I don't know if it is an plesk error or an error of the psa database or even the MySQL server. Can you give me any tips on how to recover the plesk system. Should I try to repair the Plesk installation before. And if so, how can I do it and will all my settings get lost doing it? EDIT: Trying to dump the database, I get the following error: mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when using LOCK TABLES

  • Best practice Raid groups for EqualLogic PS6510X

    We are thinking about purchasing 4 x EqualLogic PS6510X SANs (the Sumo boxes). Each has 48 x 600GB 10k SAS drives. They will be stacked to form a logical pool of storage (all in the same location). I understand that when you create a RAID group its done on a "per box" basis. So one box could be Raid 50, another Raid 10 etc. My question is, should I make one box a "performance" box ie Raid 10, and the other boxes "standard" ie Raid50? How do people configure their EQL arrays in the real world?
