    If I do a query (I plan to use SDS.P) against the global catalog, what should the starting path be so I can search the entire GC? I want to enumerate all users in GC, for example. Let's say my gc has users for 3 domains (one parent, two children): TEST.COM ONE.TEST.COM TWO.TEST.COM and i'm on a computer in ONE.TEST.COM.     Hi folks, In SQL Server 2008, how do i update fields in a table only if their values differ with the values in the update statement ? For ex: I have TableA with column FirstName whose value is 'Roger Moore' with an unique id of '007'. Now, i am calling an update statement but it should update the 'FirstName' field only if value is something else other than 'Roger Moore'. TIA

  • sprintf() to truncate and not round a float to x decimal places?

    Hi folks, When calculating a golf handicap differential you are supposed to truncate the answer to 1 decimal place without rounding. No idea why but... I know how to do this using TRUNCATE() in mySQL SELECT TRUNCATE( 2.365, 1 ); // outputs 2.3 but I was wondering if sprintf() could do this? The only way I know to work with decimal places in a float is ... echo sprintf("%.1f", 2.365); // outputs 2.4 TIA JG

    Hi folks, I have a query that takes too long to respond when the search parameter happens to be a varchar datatype with date. However, if i convert varchar to datetime variable, the query runs fine. For ex: This takes too long. select count(id) from names where updateddate '1/5/2010' This runs fine. declare @dateparam datetime set @dateparam = convert(datetime, '1/5/2010',102) select count(id) from names where updateddate @dateparam What's the reason one runs fine but the other doesn't?   • How to use WatiN to control browser tabs?

    I want to use WatiN with IE in a parallel setting, i.e. work with dozens/hundreds of pages at once. I've tried sticking it into a Parallel.For loop only to see the whole thing crash, so I'm thinking opening multiple tabs in the browser is the way to go. Can someone suggest how this can be done using WatiN (or just some IE-related API) or whether there's a better way? TIA!

    I have a table (innodb) that will have billions of records eventually. Every 2nd week I expect ~ 500K records to get dropped into the table. I would want to partition this table based on the date on which the data is imported - luckily this is a field in the table that is of the format yyyy-mm-dd - Is it possible to partition it based on this date column ? I tried looking at the 18th chapter of mysql docs but couldn't figure out if this is possible. -tia

    G'day All Most Australian phone numbers are 10 digits with the 1st 2 optional if they're a local area code. For those setting... viewer.dataDetectorTypes = UIDataDetectorTypePhoneNumber; on a web view works. We also have a range of 6 digit phone numbers (usually written xxx xxx or xx xxxx) which aren't being detected in my app. Is there a way to detect those phone numbers as well? Cheers & TIA, Pedro :)

Ie. i loop over keys and want to get each value of the attributes "field_".$key In python there is getattribute(myobject, attrname) It works, of course, with eval("$val=$myobject-".$myattr.";"); but IMO this is ugly!! So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto is not triggered by the CMS content. Any ideas? TIA JG

    I have a canvas containing a datagrid. I set horz and vert scroll to 'off' for the canvas, and set both to 'auto' for the DG. This works until I have a larger number of columns in the DG (=16), then the vert scroll bar doesn't appear. Anyone seen this and, better yet, have an answer? TIA, Perflexed

    The Twitter Search api returns results in ATOM/XML format which look like this: <author> <name>username (Friendly Name)</name> <uri>http://twitter.com/username</uri> </author> In my PHP I can get the name field as a variable, so it would look like this: $names = "username (Friendly Name)" But I want to use PHP to extract them as seperate variables, like this: $username = "username" $friendlyName = "Friendly Name" (without parantheses) TIA!
