• About Backward Compatibility of .NET Framework 4

  We have an WPF Application build on .net framework 3.5. Some testers find if they uninstall .net framework 3.5, but install .net framework 4.0, our APP fails to launch itself. Dose this mean that .net framework 4.0 does not include all 3.5 libs, and users have to install .net 3.5 even though they have 4.0? I see here are some migration issues listed by Microsoft http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941656.aspx#windows_presentation_foundation_wpf Are they all breaking changes so that the backward compatibility is ruined? • Is it possible to capture audio output and apply effects to it?

  Using .NET and DirectSound I want to be able to take all output sound that is coming from my audio device and apply effects to it. I've had a quick look at the docs on MSDN and there doesn't seem to be any explanation as to how to do something like this. I've read elsewhere that you'd be better off writing a driver to sit in front of your real audio driver and have that do whatever you want with the sound. Any ideas anyone to push me in the right direction?

  When looking at the documentation for the banner tag in windows media metafiles all the documentation says there is a maximum size of 194 x 32 pixels. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd562478(v=VS.85).aspx However, when experimenting with larger images they seem to be displaying correctly. • Can the .NET MethodInfo cache be cleared or disabled?

  Per MSDN, calling Type.GetMethods() stores reflected method information in a MemberInfo cache so the expensive operation doesn't have to be performed again. I have an application that scans assemblies/types, looking for methods that match a given specification. The problem is that memory consumption increases significantly (especially with large numbers of referenced assemblies) since .NET hangs onto the method metadata. Is there any way to clear or disable this MemberInfo cache?

  I have this bit of code: typedef CComQIPtr<MSXML::IXMLDOMDocument2> XML_DocumentPtr; then inside some class: XML_DocumentPtr m_spDoc; then inside some function: XML_NodePtr rn=m_spDoc->GetdocumentElement(); I cannot find anywhere in the MSDN documentation what that GetDocumentElement() is supposed to do? Can anyone tell me why it doesn't seem to be part of IXMLDOMDocument2 interface? And which interface does have it?

  Hi All, How can we set permissions for users to only allow them to download SSIS packages from the production server and but deny them permissions to run any package in the Server. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141053(SQL.90).aspx If i assign users to any of the DB roles db_dtsadmin, db_dtsltduser, and db_dtsoperator they will automatically have permission to run the package. • RegCreateKeyEx - does it update the returned handle on failure?

  MSDN documentation seems silent on whether RegCreateKeyEx ever updates the value of the handle referred to by its second-last parameter when it fails. My tests have only shown it not to update this - i.e., I set h = 0 before the call, pass &h to a call to RegCreateKeyEx to open a non-existent key, and see h = 0 after the call. Does anyone know of any situation in which the handle would be changed?

I want to use Expression Encoder 3 to get a part of a video (original video in wmv format), in more details, in more details, I want to get the beginning 30 seconds of video (and save the 30-second video into another wmv file), and want to get the last 30 seconds of video (and save the 30-second video into another wmv file).
