  • How to implement table-per-concrete-type using entity framework

    - by SDReyes
Hello Guys! I'm mapping a set of tables that share a common set of fields: So as you can see I'm using a table-per-concrete-type strategy to map the inheritance. But... I have not could to relate them to an abstract type containing these common properties. It's possible to do it using EF? BONUS: The only non documented Entity Data Model Mapping Scenario is Table-per-concrete-type inheritance http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716779.aspx : P

  • How to place multiple formats on the clipboard?

    - by trudger
For example, what Wordpad did when I press "Ctrl+C"? It places many different format to clipboard. So Notepad can get the text without any color or font...etc, and you still can keep the original format when you paste in another Wordpad window. The MSDN said I should call SetClipboardData multiple times. But it doesn't work at all.

  • Parsing values from XML into types of Type

    - by DrLazer
check this out Type configPropType = configurableProp.getPropertyType(); string attValue = xmlelement.GetAttribute(configurableProp.getName()); configProps[configurableProp.getName()] = attValue; At the point where I am setting the value that got read in from XML it turns out the assigning object needs to be parsed to the correct type for it to work. I need something like. configProps[configurableProp.getName()] = configPropType.ParseToThisType(attValue); Looked around on msdn but its a very confusing place.

  • Safe vs Unsafe code

    - by Lumpy
Read this question today about safe and unsafe code I then read about it in MSDN but I still don't understand it. Why would you want to use pointers in C#? Is this purely for speed?

  • How to determine whether a database has been changed or not ?

    - by Locksfree
I have a need to determine if a database on a MS SQL Server has changed between two distinct moments. The change can be structural or data-related and the check should be generic (i.e. independant of the structure of the database). Preferably, I'd like the check to be T-SQL based or with SMOs, not file based. I checked on MSDN but I haven't found anything relevant so far.

  • Easy way to add custom prerequisite in clickonce publish (VS 2010)

    - by Maciej
I would like to add Infragistics dlls as custom prerequisite when publishing my project. I've read about that: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730839%28VS.80%29.aspx But this seems to be a bit complicated... I wonder if exists a bit simple way to archive that (eg by passing URL to setup.exe or such) ? EDIT This Might be also interesting: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/Add_Custom_Prerequisite.aspx?msg=2520811 will check and let you know...

  • Sharing assembly code between WPF, Silverlight and Windows Phone: quite impractical for big projects !

    - by user310291
It is said here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mikeormond/archive/2010/12/09/writing-cross-platform-xaml-applications.aspx Within Visual Studio, if you add files to the project via “Add Existing Item”, and select the “Add As Link” option you can work on the same file from multiple projects. Oh my I'm on a project which have multiple countries, brands, components layers and each time I will add a file you want me to "Add as Link" ? This is a nightmare maintenance ! Is there any other solutions ?

  • Usercontrol and Border Style

    - by Ram
Hi, I have created a user control ( custom data grid view control). I have used the code specified at MSDN [site][1] [1]: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316574 to set the border style . I am able to see the selected border style in designer. Like None, FixedSingle or Fixed3D. But when I set the border style to FixedSingle, the border does not appear at runtime. Do I need to draw it manually in the OnPaint method?

  • C# Attribute.isDefined() example?

    - by UpTheCreek
Can someone please give me an example of using Attribute.isDefined() to check if a particular custom attribute has been applied to a given class? I've checked msdn, but only see possiblities for attributes applied to assemblies, members etc. I'm also open to alternative methods for achieving the same thing!

  • What does the GDI+ background thread do?

    - by uj
Upon initialization, GDI+ (non .NET) creates a background thread, which can optionally be suppressed subject to calling some hook functions. MSDN, however, doesn't say what this thread actually does. Google doesn't seem to know either. What is it for?

  • Need a scenario where would fail Array.ConstrainedCopy()

    - by Sir Psycho
Hi, Just playing around with some of the APIs in .NET and I can't seem to find a way to cause Array.ConstrainedCopy() fail. According to MSDN, it's treated as an atomic operation. If it fails during the copy, the entire call fails resulting in no elements being copied as opposed to its Array.Copy() counterpart. Can someone demonstrate this or tell me how to do this?

  • NetUserAdd() to Remote Desktop Group?

    - by Brett Powell
Is there anyway to give a newly created user from NetUserAdd() remote desktop access and/or administrative rights? I know it is possible, at least for Remote Desktop, and I have been reading through the MSDN but nothing seems to hint at what is required to be set for it to work.

  • Why is there no Sum() extension for IEnumerable<uint>

    - by dss539
It seems that Sum not defined for IEnumerable<uint> (and other unsigned integers, for that matter) var s = new int[] { 1, 2, 3 }; s.Sum(); //works fine var us = new uint[] { 1, 2, 3 }; us.Sum(); //missing method I would like to know: Have I done something fundamentally wrong/misunderstood the situation? What design decisions might cause the omission of IEnumerable<uint>.Sum()? MSDN: Enumerable.Sum
