  • Help with search query in Codeigniter

    Hi All, Im still fairly new to codeigniter and am wondering if someone can help me with this please? Im just trying to do a very basic search query in Codeigniter, but for some reason, the results are ignoring my "status = published" request... The code is: $this->db->like('title', $term); $this->db->or_like('tags', $term); $data['results'] = $this->db->get_where('resources', array('status' => 'published')); And this dosent work either: $this->db->like('title', $term); $this->db->or_like('tags', $term); $this->db->where('status', 'published'); $data['results'] = $this->db->get('resources'); Im sure its something basic? Help please?

  • Rails routes looking for show action

    I am pretty new to rails and basically I want to make a user registration form. I am currently using rails 3.2.3 Basically I want to make basic routes like user/register on top of basic REST route for user. Here are my routes.rb resources :user do collection do get 'register' end end And here are my rake routes: register_user_index GET /user/register(.:format) user#register user_index GET /user(.:format) user#index POST /user(.:format) user#create new_user GET /user/new(.:format) user#new edit_user GET /user/:id/edit(.:format) user#edit user GET /user/:id(.:format) user#show PUT /user/:id(.:format) user#update DELETE /user/:id(.:format) user#destroy From my understanding, since register user is on top of show, it should match with register first before going to show. However, when I try to do localhost:3000/user/register, it gives me this error: No route matches {:action="show", :controller="user"} Can somebody help me with this? Thanks!!

  • strcat() won't exit

    I'm trying to implement a very basic server in C, one part of which is constructing HTTP headers. To do this I have written a class called header_builder, which basically constructs the headers for me. One of the most basic methods of this class is append_header_line, shown below: void append_header_line( const char *line, char *hdr ) { printf("Adding header line\n"); strcat( hdr, line ); printf("Line added. Adding ending.\n"); strcat( hdr, "\r\n" ); printf("Success\n"); } All it's supposed to do is tack the "line" parameter onto the end of the "hdr" parameter, and then add "\r\n" to the end of it all. The problem is that the first strcat call never exits. When I run this code, all it does is say: Adding header line Which means that the following lines never execute, and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

    Hello, I've got a problem with the authentication features of EJB3.1: With this code in a Servlet v3: log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); log.info("===^==="); request.logout() ; log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); request.authenticate(response) ; log.info("===v==="); log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); I would always expect to see the Username/login windows, because of the logout() function. Instead, it seems to be a 'cache' mechanism which repopulate the credential and cancel my logout ... Admin BASIC ===^=== null null ===v=== Admin BASIC is it a problem with my firefox, or something I'm missing in the Servlet code? Thanks

  • Quick to develop web app in Java

    Hi all, I need to develop a basic web app very quickly (1 week) for a demo. My requirements are Java (I need to make use of existing Java libraries to access the relevant data) 2 screens One for static data view, maybe some search parameters Other for basic form entry No fancy AJAX required Ideally easy for a web designer to come in and tart it up as necessary, without having to rewrite everything My first stop was going to be to checkout Wicket as I've heard good things about it. I don't have the time right now to dive into anything heavy, which probably writes off JSF in my mind (I played with JSF1, steep learning curve which I've now slid back down). I'm happy to treat the result as throwaway so if there's a framework which starts of well but then doesn't scale up to bigger projects, that would be ok. Any suggestions appreciated on frameworks/approach.

    In the last 3-5 years I have been renewing an insurance application and a commmercial integration toolkit based on vb6. According to Microsoft's "It just works policy" the IDE is no longer supported after april 8th 2008 It still works to develop and deploy vb 6 apps. The question is: When will it be impossible to support vb6 applications, or will they live forever like Cobol applications do? Update: Microsoft statement march 2010: The Visual Basic team is committed to “It Just Works” compatibility for Visual Basic 6.0 applications on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 including R2, and Windows 7.

The basic features I would like to learn (after the basic SDK iphone components programming) are : using a board like interface where I can move pawn with my fingers detect where the pawn was moved and triggers events in the game The board will be constitute by 6 tiles that may be organised randomly when starting the game : may i use an sdk component with a delegate and datasource to determine where the pawn was left and on which tile ? need to use dices (which kind of library may I use ?) ...   • Specifying a unique control name when adding at runtime (like the VS IDE)

    hi, I have a basic IDE for a user control i am building. It allows me to add labels to a panel and move them around, like a very basic form designer. When I add the controls to the panel at runtime, I'd like to give the control a unique name string like how the VS IDE tracks the controls it already has and adds an extra number when it creates the default control name. I have tried checking the controls collection each time a new control is added, but wasnt sure if there was a good string comparison method to return a name with a unique number on the end that hasn't been used yet.

  • Can git switch branch without the modification

    I have a project which have completed the basic models(at master), then I commit them. Then I create two branchs user and product using: git checkout -b user git checkout -b product git checkout user Then I add the codes in the user branch, but I found that I have to make some changes for the basic models. Then I switch to master: git checkout master But I found that the modification I made in the user branch is visible in the working directory now. How to avoid this? Since the change to master and modification will be frequency.

    Next term, I'll need to write a basic operating system for Motorola 68K processor as part of a course lab material. Is there a Linux emulator of a basic hardware setup with that processor? So my partners and I can debug quicker on our computers instead of physically restarting the board and stuff. Is it possible to apply test-driven development technique to OS development? Code will be mostly assembly and C. What will be the main difficulties with trying to test-drive this? Any advice on how to do it?

    I want to do basic WPF graphics, i.e. rectangles, lines, circles and text. When should I use Drawing and when should I use a DrawingVisual? I have some code that uses Drawing and I render those to a DrawingImage and display that in an image control. Is this the right way? I could not see how to add text to a drawing. I had trouble positioning it too. Should I be rendering to a Canvas? I have some code that uses DrawingVisual and writes to a DrawingContext. That is like WinForms. Is this the recommended way? Do you have any high level advice on which APIs to use for basic graphics and labels? Will they options work on Silver Light and Desktop?

    I'm having some issues with a group by clause in SQL. I have the following basic function: CREATE FUNCTION dbo.fn_GetWinsYear (@Year int) RETURNS int AS BEGIN declare @W int select @W = count(1) from tblGames where WinLossForfeit = 'W' and datepart(yyyy,Date) = @Year return @W END I'm trying to run the following basic query: select dbo.fn_GetWinsYear(datepart(yyyy,date)) from tblGames group by datepart(yyyy,date) However, I'm encountering the following error message: Column 'tblGames.Date' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause. Any ideas why this is occurring? FYI, I know I can remove the function and combine into one call but I'd like to keep the function in place if possible.

Now that I have a better understanding of the different frameworks, I have a very simple question: With a basic understanding, but very limited experience with writing tests with rails' built in testing framework (basic assertions), would it be okay for me to jump directly to testing with RSpec, Webrat, and Cucamber?     In a C# Winform application (3.5) there are numerous forms each with different listview controls. While each listview control uses different datasets the basic formatting of each remains the same. Basic formatting takes this form: /* appearance */ this.lstA.View = View.Details; this.lstA.AllowColumnReorder = true; this.lstA.CheckBoxes = false; this.lstA.FullRowSelect = true; this.lstA.GridLines = false; this.lstA.Sorting = SortOrder.Ascending; What I would like to do is create a class that can be used to set the initial format of the listview. How do I pass the listview (by reference?) to the class so that the appearance properties can be set?

Like dismissModalViewController in their titles of methods, or documentation like: "The UIViewController class provides the fundamental view-management model for iPhone applications. The basic view controller class supports the presentation of an associated view in addition to basic support for managing modal views and rotating views in response to device orientation changes. Subclasses such as UINavigationController and UITabBarController provide additional behavior for managing complex hierarchies of view controllers and views." I'm not sure as to what context I should think of when I see modal in the names and documentation. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    This is a dangerous question, so let me try to phrase it correctly. Premature optimization is the root of all evil, but if you know you need it, there is a basic set of rules that should be considered. This set is what I'm wondering about. For instance, imagine you got a list of a few thousand items. How do you look up an item with a specific, unique ID? Of course, you simply use a Dictionary to map the ID to the item. And if you know that there is a setting stored in a database that is required all the time, you simply cache it instead of issuing a database request hundred times a second. I guess there are a few even more basic ideas. I am specifically not looking for "don't do it, for experts: don't do it yet" or "use a profiler" answers, but for really simple, general hints. If you feel this is an argumentative question, you probably misunderstood my intention.

    I have a string from a text file that look something like this: long_str = "returns between paragraphs 20102/34.23" - 9203 1232 "test" "basic HTML" Note: Quotes are part of the string. int match(char *long_str){ char * str; if ((str = strchr(long_str, '"')) != NULL) str++; // last " ? else return 1; return 0; } Using strstr I'm trying to get the whole substring between the last two quotes: "basic HTML". I'm just not quite sure what would be a good and efficient way of getting that match. I'm open to any other ideas on how to approach this. Thanks

    I would like to find a numeric representation of kazakh national ornaments for generating new ones. The ornaments essentially consist of combinations of relatively basic ornaments. Usually the ornaments are symmetrical. Here are few examples of basic elements: (The images are a bit distorted) And this is an example of a more complex ornament: How could I encode an ornament's representation in as few numbers as possible? So that I could write a program that would generate an ornament, given some sequence of numbers Any ideas are appreciated.
