• How to open a help webpage after installation is complete

  I have built an installer for my windows app using the VisualStudio 2008 IDE. I also use some custom-actions to do a few extra stuff at the time of installation/uninstallation. What I also want to do is that when the installation is completed, the installer should launch a help webpage or a getting-started page for the users to know how to go ahead with the app. I am doing the following for this: private void CustomInstaller_Committed(object sender, InstallEventArgs e) { System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel lbl = new System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel(); lbl.Links.Remove(lbl.Links[0]); lbl.Links.Add(0, lbl.Text.Length, "http://www.mywebsite.com/help.aspx"); ProcessStartInfo pInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(lbl.Links[0].LinkData.ToString()); Process.Start(pInfo); } Also, I set the event handler as such: this.Committed += new InstallEventHandler(CustomInstaller_Committed); This is launching the webpage, but not at the right point in the flow where I would have wanted it. It launches the IE browser even before the user dismisses the installation window (i.e clicks 'Close' in the Installation Completed dialog box). I want the webpage to open only when the user finally dismisses the installation. Any ideas how can I achieve this? Thanks, Kapil

  Hi all, I am new to microsoft great plains technology. In this post my concern is to save the scroll window data in original sql table. I am selecting the values from lookup window and displaying in scroll window and saving it to temp table. While i am running temp table i see data is saved there, my motto is to save the data from temp table to original table while clicking the save button. for that i have written... get first table is_customer_temp; while err() = OKAY do copy from table is_customer_temp to table is_customer; save table is_customer; get next table is_customer_temp; end while; but while i see the back end nothing is stored in original table. Pls somebody help me... And 2nd problem is i want to delete the selected row from scroll window using checkbox. If i dont use check box and simply want to delete row i can do this simple way....write delete code scroll window line delete event and call that script in row delete button event. It will delete the particular row from scroll. But how can i do if i use checkbox in scroll window...Pls somebody help me.. Thanks, Rahul

• Forcing CLLocationManager updates - does it help or hurt?

  I've been trying to find any way to optimize the performance of my location-based iPhone application and have seen some people mention that you can force location updates by starting and stopping your CLLocationManager. I need the best accuracy I can get, and the user in my case would probably like to see updates every few seconds (say, 10 seconds) as they walk around. I've set the filters accordingly, but I notice that sometimes I don't get any updates on the device for quite some time. I'm testing the following approach, which forces an update when a fixed time interval passes (I'm using 20 seconds). My gut tells me this really won't help me provide more accurate updates to the user, and that just leaving CLLocationManager running all the time is probably the best approach. - (void)forceLocationUpdate { [[LocationManager locationManager] stopUpdates]; [[LocationManager locationManager] startUpdates]; [self performSelector:@selector(forceLocationUpdate) withObject:nil afterDelay:20.0]; } My question is- does forcing updates from CLLocationManager actually improve core location performance? There are user's that are members of both FACULTY and STAFF groups, so I want to check for those users and display the appropriate content for them. So if the user is both faculty and staff, then display this, if they are only of staff, display that, same for faculty, might not make sense, but I will write out some code "in theory" that will help you understand what I am trying to do switch(Get group membership of user) { case "FACULTY": print "Faculty group member"; break; case "STAFF": print "Staff group member"; break; case "FACULTY and STAFF": print "Member of both faculty and staff"; break; } I am unsure on how it will check if they are members of both groups and run that thru the case statement to display the appropriate message. The foreach look currently runs thru every group the user belongs to, prints out the ones from the $list_of_groups and the number 1 to the right of it, signifying they belong to it. The problem I have is trying to use that information to run thru the case statement, I am unsure of how to go about that. This is what it prints out for the user currently passed thru the foreach loop: Group: FACULTY user in group? 1 Group: STAFF user in group? 1 Any help is appreciated.

• Selenium and Firefox 9's "Will you help improve Mozilla Firefox" popup

  I'm trying to test a Java web app using Selenium 2.16.1. When Selenium opens Firefox, I see a band at the top of the page with message "Will you help improve Mozilla Firefox" For some reason this breaks selenium.click("id=submit"); selenium.waitForPageToLoad("60000"); which is trying to log in - it becomes a no-op, and the test fails because it's then expecting to have logged in. If I break on the click line and clear the 'will you help' band before continuing then the form submit succeeds. Is there a way to suppress this band from appearing? (I expect that would mean setting a property in Firefox's default profile - where do I find that?) Or is there a way to get Selenium to spot and dismiss this first? Thanks! I'm using Firefox 9.0.1. Solved - thanks Danny! Just in case it isn't clear from the answers and comments below: This was an issue with 2.16.1 and IMO the best solution is to upgrade to 2.17 or later.

I simple steps i will try to explain my problem. 1) I am working on tinyOS . its open source OS , used for wireless sensor networks. It provides java libraries to work on communication (PC to sensor) 2) I am working on windows xp environment through cigwin. 3) I am developing an application . THis application requires one java interface called "Serial Forwarder" , which is readily available in libraries provided. Previously i used to start this interface manually (by entering command *"java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder ")*and then my application which uses this interface. But now i want to make my application independent . User need know about this background cygwin commands . 4) So in my java application i used "Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder)" . 5) This i neither giving any error nor starting the interface. Am I going on right way ? When i am using runtime execute command , how can i make sure that this command is called through cigwin interface ? Also .. if i want to write .bat file .. i which i can give commands which will be executed .. how can i make sure that those commands are given through cigwin .. and not through cmd.exe .. Please help . me .

• Help me understand entity framework 4 caching for lazy loading

  I am getting some unexpected behaviour with entity framework 4.0 and I am hoping someone can help me understand this. I am using the northwind database for the purposes of this question. I am also using the default code generator (not poco or self tracking). I am expecting that anytime I query the context for the framework to only make a round trip if I have not already fetched those objects. I do get this behaviour if I turn off lazy loading. Currently in my application I am breifly turning on lazy loading and then turning it back off so I can get the desired behaviour. That pretty much sucks, so please help. Here is a good code example that can demonstrate my problem.   Hi Guys, I am relatively new with sql and I need some help with some basic query construction. Problem: To retrieve the number of orders and the customer id from a table based on a set of parameters. I want to write a query to figure out the number of orders under each customer (Column: Customerid) along with the CustomerID where the number of orders should be greater or equal to 10 and the status of the order should be Active. Moreover, I also want to know the first transaction date of an order belonging to each customerid. Table Description: product_orders Orderid CustomerId Transaction_date Status ------- ---------- ---------------- ------- 1 23 2-2-10 Active 2 22 2-3-10 Active 3 23 2-3-10 Deleted 4 23 2-3-10 Active Query that I have written: select count(*), customerid from product_orders where status = 'Active' GROUP BY customerid ORDER BY customerid; The above statement gives me the sum of all order under a customer id but does not fulfil the condition of atleast 10 orders. I donot know how to display the first transaction date along with the order under a customerid (status: could be active or delelted doesn't matter) Ideal solutions should look like: Total Orders CustomerID Transaction Date (the first transaction date) ------------ ---------- ---------------- 11 23 1-2-10 Thanks in advance.   Hi Guys, I'm actually in need of your help and advice here on my assignment that I am working on. First of all, I was task to do a program that runs langton's ant simulation. For that, I've managed to get the source code (from snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/5143) and edited it accordingly to my requirements. This was done and ran in pygame module extension. In addition, my task requires a GUI to interface for users to run and navigate through the screens effectively with the langton's ant program running. I used wxPython with the help of an IDE called BOA constructor to create the frames, buttons, textboxes, etc. Basically, all the stuff needed in the interfaces. However, I've ran into some problems listed below: Found problem integrating pyGame with wxPython. On this note, I've research the internet for answers and tutorials where I found out from website: wiki.wxpython.org/IntegratingPyGame & aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/wxpython-users/3178042. I understand from the sites that integrating pyGame with wxPython will be a difficult task where it has caused common problems like the inability to placing other controls into the frames as the pyGame application will cover the entire panel. I really hope that you can clarify my doubts on this and advise me on the path that I should take from here. Therefore, I ask the following questions: Is it feasible to integrate pyGame with wxPython? If it is not feasible to integrate pyGame with wxPython, what other alternatives do I have to create a GUI interface integrating pyGame into it. If so how do I go about? If it is possible to go about integrating pyGame with wxPython, how do I go about doing so? Really need you guys opinion on this.

• Help understanding .NET delegates, events, and eventhandlers

  Hello, In the last couple of days I asked a couple of questions about delegates HERE and HERE. I confess...I don't really understand delegates. And I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to understand and master them. (I can define them--type safe function pointers--but since I have little experience with C type languages it is not really helpful.) Can anyone recommend some online resource(s) that will explain delegates in a way that presumes nothing? This is one of those moments where I suspect that VB actually handicaps me because it does some wiring for me behind the scenes. The ideal resource would just explain what delegates are, without reference to anything else like (events and eventhandlers), would show me how all everything is wired up, explain (as I just learned) that delegates are types and what makes them unique as a type (perhaps using a little ildasm magic)). That foundation would then expand to explain how delegates are related to events and eventhandlers which would need a pretty good explanation in there own right. Finally this resource could tie it all together using real examples and explain what wiring DOES happen automatically by the compiler, how to use them, etc. And, oh yeah, when you should and should not use delegates, in other words, downsides and alternatives to using delegates. What say ye? Can any of you point me to resource(s) that can help me begin my journey to mastery? EDIT One last thing. The ideal resource will explain how you can and cannot use delegates in an interface declaration. That is something that really tripped me up. Thanks for your help. Seth

  Sorry folks, I really need help with posting an array problem. I would imaging it's quite simple, but beyond me. I want/need to create a single "nested array" from the 4 serials so that it enters the DB as 1 (one) row. My "base" database data looks like this: a:4:{s:4:"col1";a:3:{i:1;s:6:"forums";i:2;s:4:"chat";i:3;s:5:"blogs";}s:4:"col2";a:2:{i:1;s:5:"pages";i:2;s:7:"members";}s:4:"col3";a:2:{i:1;s:9:"galleries";i:2;s:4:"shop";}s:4:"col4";a:1:{i:1;s:4:"news";}} Therefore the JQuery array should "replicate" and create it (obviously will change on sorting) Help please thanks in advance

• Need Help finding an appropriate task asignment algoritm for a collage project involving coordinatin

  Hello. I am a long time lurker here and have found over time many answers regarding jquery and web development topics so I decided to ask a question of my own. This time I have to create a c++ project for collage which should help manage the workflow of a company providing all kinds of services through in the field teams. The ideas I have so far are: client-server application; the server is a dispatcher where all the orders from clients get and the clients are mobile devices (PDAs) each team in the field having one a order from a client is a task. Each task is made up of a series of subtasks. You have a database with estimations on how long a task should take to complete you also know what tasks or subtasks each team on the field can perform based on what kind of specialists made up the team (not going to complicate the problem by adding needed materials, it is considered that if a member of a team can perform a subtask he has the stuff needed) Now knowing these factors, what would a good task assignment algorithm be? The criteria is: how many tasks can a team do, how many tasks they have in the queue, it could also be location, how far away are they from the place but I don't think I can implement that.. It needs to be efficient and also to adapt quickly is the human dispatcher manually assigns a task. Any help or leads would be really appreciated. Also I'm not 100% sure in the idea so if you have another way you would go about creating such an application please share, even if it just a quick outline. I have to write a theoretical part too so even if the ideas are far more complex that what i outlined that would be ok ; I'd write those and implement what I can.

  Hi Experts, I am working on Self Organizing Map (SOM) Implementation and i have a microarray dataset which i am trying to read in using some_read_data function, but i keep having an errors when i edit it to have it in SOM_PAK form which is recognise by SOM for reading such as ??? Error using == somtoolbox\som_read_data.m Only 69 vector components on input file data line 1 (dimension is 70) Error in == SomMainFunction at 3 sD = som_read_data('B_r2.txt'); but when i try to read the data without editing which is the original file as shown here: http://rapidshare.com/files/376239367/DLBCL.txt.html It indicates "Data read OK", but i have the following error ???   Hi, i have few questions for SQL gurus in here ... Briefly this is ads management system where user can define campaigns for different countries, categories, languages. I have few questions in mind so help me with what you can. Generally i'm using ASP.NET and i want to cache all result set of certain user once he asks for statistics for the first time, this way i will avoid large round-trips to server. any help is welcomed Click here for diagram with all details you need for my questions 1.Main issue of this application is to show to the user how many clicks/impressions were and how much money he spent on campaign. What is the easiest way to get this information for him? I will also include filtering by date, date ranges and few other params in this statistics table. 2.Other issue is what happens when user will try to edit campaign. Old campaign will die this means if user set 0.01$ as campaignPPU (pay-per-unit) and next day updates it to 0.05$ all will be reset to 0.05$. 3.If you could re-design some parts of table design so it would be more flexible and easier to modify, how would you do it? • Need Help finding an appropriate task assignment algorithm for a college project involving coordinat

  I am a long time lurker here and have found over time many answers regarding jquery and web development topics so I decided to ask a question of my own. This time I have to create a c++ project for college which should help manage the workflow of a company providing all kinds of services through in the field teams. The ideas I have so far are: client-server application; the server is a dispatcher where all the orders from clients get and the clients are mobile devices (PDAs) each team in the field having one a order from a client is a task. Each task is made up of a series of subtasks. You have a database with estimations on how long a task should take to complete you also know what tasks or subtasks each team on the field can perform based on what kind of specialists made up the team (not going to complicate the problem by adding needed materials, it is considered that if a member of a team can perform a subtask he has the stuff needed) Now knowing these factors, what would a good task assignment algorithm be? The criteria is: how many tasks can a team do, how many tasks they have in the queue, it could also be location, how far away are they from the place but I don't think I can implement that.. It needs to be efficient and also to adapt quickly is the human dispatcher manually assigns a task. Any help or leads would be really appreciated. Also I'm not 100% sure in the idea so if you have another way you would go about creating such an application please share, even if it just a quick outline. I have to write a theoretical part too so even if the ideas are far more complex that what i outlined that would be ok ; I'd write those and implement what I can. Edit: C++ is the only language I know unfortunately.

  Hi, I'm a Rails newbie and want to do something but keep messing something up. I'd love some help. I have a simple app that has three tables. Users, Robots, and Recipients. Robots belong_to users and Recipients belong_to robots. On the robot show page, I want to be able to create recipients for that robot right within the robot show page. I have the following code in the robot show page which lists current recipients: <table> <% @robot.recipients.each do |recipient| %> <tr> <td><b><%=h recipient.chat_screen_name %></b> via <%=h recipient.protocol_name</td> <td><%= link_to 'Edit', edit_recipient_path(recipient) %>&nbsp;</td> <td><%= link_to 'Delete', recipient, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> What I'd like to do is have an empty field in which the user can add a new recipient, and have tried the following: I added this to the Robots Show view: <% form_for(@robot.recipient) do |f| %> Enter the screen name<br> <%= f.text_field :chat_screen_name %> <p> <%= f.submit 'Update' %> </p> <% end %> and then this to the Robot controller in the show action: @recipient = Recipient.new @recipients = Recipient.all Alas, I'm still getting a NoMethod error that says: "undefined method `recipient' for #" I'm not sure what I'm missing.
