  Hello, I have a question related to correct handling of returns of the DAO library I'm writing for one project. This library probably is going to be used by another people and I want to do it correctly. So I would like to know, how I should deal with return statements of the functions of my DAO. Example 1 I have function to getCustomer which should return String. In case query doesn't return any result should I return null, empty string or throw some kind of Exception? Example 2 I have function getCutomerList which return ArrayList. In case query doesn't return any result should I return null, empty ArrayList or throw some Exception? Example 3 Some sql exception was detected, what should I do: throw exception or do try..catch of the block where it can occur? What is the "good" practice or "best" practice to apply in my case? It could simply be solved with protected atrib in that class, but for some (stupid) reason i'cant do that. Has anybody an idea how to solve it without that? Thanks for all help.

  I am a regex newbie and can't seem to figure this one out. The entire string can only be 16 characters long. I am pretty sure I am missing something obvious here regarding the leading zeros. Tried the NTS format and running into the same sort of problems.

• Simplest way to create a wrapper class around some strings for a WPF DataGrid?

  I'm building a simple hex editor in C#, and I've decided to use each cell in a DataGrid to display a byte*. I know that DataGrid will take a list and display each object in the list as a row, and each of that object's properties as columns. I want to display rows of 16 bytes each, which will require a wrapper with 16 string properties. While doable, it's not the most elegant solution. Is there an easier way? I've already tried creating a wrapper around a public string array of size 16, but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks *The rational for this is that I can have spaces between each byte without having to strip them all out when I want to save my edited file. Also it seems like it'll be easier to label the rows and columns.

So if I added Protocol.Http.ToString() there is another error because it allows only CONSTANT evaluation. If I change it to this switch (Enum.Parse(typeof(Protocol), strProtocolType)) It's not possible also. So, it's possible to use in my case a switch statement or not?
