  • SQL Query to select upcoming events with a start and end date

    I need to display upcoming events from a database. The problem is when I use the query I'm currently using any events with a start day that has passed will show up lower on the list of upcoming events regardless of the fact that they are current My table (yaml): columns: title: type: string(255) notnull: true default: Untitled Event start_time: type: time end_time: type: time start_day: type: date notnull: true end_day: type: date description: type: string(500) default: This event has no description category_id: integer My query (doctrine): $results = Doctrine_Query::create() ->from("sfEventItem e, e.Category c") ->select("e.title, e.start_day, e.description, e.category_id, e.slug") ->addSelect("c.title, c.slug") ->orderBy("e.start_day, e.start_time, e.title") ->limit(5) ->execute(array(), Doctrine_Core::HYDRATE_ARRAY); Basically I'd like any events that is currently going on (so if today is in between start_day and end_day) to be at the top of the list. How would I go about doing this if it's even possible? Raw sql queries are good answers too because they're pretty easy to turn into DQL.

I guess one way would be to keep the Base b reference in Derived and override Derived.Name to point to b.Name?   • Can you make VB.NET compilation as strict as C#?

    In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?

  • Centralized way of organizing urls in Jersey?

    Forgive me if I am asking an obvious question (maybe I missed it in the docs somewhere?) but has anyone found a good way to organize their URLs in Jersey Java framework? I mean organizing them centrally in your Java source code, so that you can be sure there are not two classes that refer to the same Url. For example django has a really nice regex-based matching. I was thinking of doing something like an enum: enum Urls{ CARS ("cars"), CAR_INFO ("car", "{info}"); public Urls(String path, String args) ... } but you can imagine that gets out of hand pretty quickly if you have urls like: cars/1/wheels/3 where you need multiple path-ids interleaved with one another... Any tips?

    Hey All, Like always, just want to say thank you for all of the help and input in advance. I have a particular site that I am the web developer for and am running into a unique problem. It seems that somehow something is getting into every single PHP file on my site and adding some malware code. I have deleted the code from every page multiple times and changed FTP and DB passwords, but to no avail. The code that is added looks like this - eval(base64_decode(string)) - which the string is 3024 characters. Not sure if anyone else has ran into this problem or if any one has ideas on how I can secure my php code up. Thanks again.

    I have an array of tags per item like so: item1 = ['new', 'expensive'] item2 = ['expensive', 'lame'] I also have a boolean expression as a string based on possible tags: buy_it = "(new || expensive) && !lame" How can I determine if an item matches the buying criteria based on the tags associated with it? My original thought was to do a gsub on all words in buy_it to become 'true' or 'false' based on them existing in the itemx tags array and then exec the resulting string to get a boolean result. But since the Ruby community is usually more creative than me, is there a better solution?

    I have an app that so far consists of two Activities: The Main Menu Activity. The Game Activity The Main Menu Activity contains a button that starts the Game Activity with the following code: public void onClick(View clickedButton) { switch(clickedButton.getId()) { case R.id.buttonPlay: Intent i = new Intent("apple.banana.BouncingBallActivity"); startActivity(i); break; } When the user is done with the Game Activity, he presses the back button. This calls the onPause() method first, which pauses the animation thread of the game. It then calls the onStop() which calls finish() on the activity altogether. The user is returned to the Main Menu activity. I have the code to check for any matching images, but if there are supposed to be four matching image paths (as that is how many are in the first collection), and there is less than this, how can I get the missing one without writing loops? When grid is rendered it loads very first page on the screen and then there are number of pages in the grid header. I scrap first page, and now i want to move on to the next page. I used it but it did not work on this page. the trick is, you can pass __EVENTTARGET and __EVENTARGUMENT in query string to navigate through the gird but it does not work on this website. I am desperately searching a way, how to cope with this website. i really want this done. i do not want any code but a way to nevigate throgh the grid using query string if it does work. Otherwise please be specific to the problem.

    After reading about the problem of passing empty std::string objects between DLLs and EXEs, I am concerned about the configure options used to build my gcc / libstdc++. More specific I want to know if --enable-fully-dynamic-string was used during ./configure. I'm using MinGW 4.4.0 on Windows XP. Does anybody know the configuration used to build this release? Is there a general way to find this information for any installation of GNU gcc? The gcc manual gives me no hint on this topic. Thanks for your input!

  • How to continue copying on error with copyDirectory from FileUtils (Apache Commons IO 2.4)

    I am trying to copy files from one folder to another using the FileUtils method "static void copyDirectory(File srcDir, File destDir)" from apache commons io (2.4) with the following code: String srcDir = "/sourceDirectory/examples/"; String destDir = "/tmp/examples/"; try{ FileUtils.copyDirectory(new File(srcDir), new File(destDir)); } catch (IOException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } The file structure looks like the following: examples/ (read access) examples/.subdirectory (NO access) examples/file1.txt (read access) examples/file2.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file1.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file2.txt (NO access) The problem is, that in srcDir there are a few files and one subdirectory I don't have access to. FileUtils.copyDirectory throws an "java.io.FileNotFoundException: .subdirectory (Permission denied)" and aborts. Is it possible to ignore those files I don't have permission to and just copy all the other files I can read?

  • Updating .net 4.0 machine.config seems to have no effect

    I'm feeling stupid. I've just created my first ASP.net 4.0 site after working my way though over the years from 1.1 upwards. We have several settings at the machine.config level that I need to migrate to the new 4.0 machine.config. I though I had be adding the required connection strings to the connection string section of the following two files: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\machine.config C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\machine.config When I created a new website in IIS and assigned it to the ASP.net 4.0 Application pool I only get the default LocalSqlServer connection string. I tried editing the name of this in the two files above to indicate which file it was in, but there was no change. Are there machine.config files in other locations I should be looking at?

By the way, is there an equivalent to Directory.GetFiles() which would return an IEnumerable instead of the array? If it exists, then would it make the code run any faster?     Ran into some questionable behavior using lists of parameterized Class objects: ArrayList<Class<String>> classList = new ArrayList<Class<String>>(); classList.add(Integer.class); //compile error Class intClass = Integer.class; classList.add(intClass); //legal apparently, as long as intClass is not parameterized Found the same behavior for LinkedList, haven't tried other collections. Is it like this for a reason? Or have I stumbled on something?
