• Where can I find a link to download the SP2 of OES2?

  Hi, I have a Netware Novell server with an eDirectory and different objects configured. I implemented an OEServer2 SP1 to emulate a DSfW to manage the eDirectory with AD. I join the domain with the Administrator login and I am logged as the Administrator domain. So far, there are no problems. When I open the MMC window on Windows Server 08 and snap in the "Active Directory Users and Computers" I can see all the OUs and objects presented in the Netware N. server. But, when I select some OUs I can have an error, and when I select other I don’t have this error. Error: “Data from XXXXX is not available from Domain Controller OES2.yyyy.local because: The server is unwilling to process the request. Try again later, or choose another DC by selecting Connect to Domain Controller on the Domain context menu.” With XXXX= OU’s name and yyyy.local= domain name and OES2 server name If somebody can upload this SP or post a link to download it...   Hello., Whenever i need to copy some files and couldnt find a pen drive, [ i dont have bluetooth enabled in my lap], I create a new ad hoc (wireless) network in windows and share the necessary files on the network and share files with the other system. Now, i want to do the same with Ubuntu. But, i couldn't. I could create a new network, but i am not able to chare or send or even dont know how to access the system connected to the network.   I'm managing my very small office server with windows server 2008. since I have only one server, and the user group is really small. I made the first hdd into 2 partitions. one (C:) for windows and Active directory, another (D:) for tomcat and database. I'm doing incremental back C: and D: daily to hdd2 (E:) using windows server backup. is it enough to let me do fully restore my server in case of disaster? I ask this because I have read there is also a system state backup, and I also have to do that periodically in order to get AD back? isn't it with incremental/full backup I can do full bare-metal recovery?

• Win2008 - restrict VPN user permissions

  Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Foundations file server with no AD, only workgroup sharing some folders, and now a RRAS server. Shared folders are open to everyone in the office (XPs and Sevens) without accounts/passwords, but I was thinking about partially limiting access to the new "VPNuser" account. I'm new to Windows Server and its permissions settings: I thought about denying access to vpnuser through NTFS rights in some folders. It doesn't work, but now I'm guessing that the vpnuser is not considered as a logged user (doesn't appear as such) and is considered a "guest", like the rest of people connecting in the office. • Windows 2003-R2-Server: Process "System" takes large chunks of CPU time

  I have a domain controller running 2003 R2. The server behaves very well when restarted daily, however, each day it is not restarted, there's a process called "System" that takes enourmous chunks of CPU time (up to 95%). The server supports AD, WINS, DNS, has Kaspersky Endpoint Security running, and manages backups via Arcserve 15. When I tried so far: Process Explorer (ex-Sysinternals) shows that the "System" process has no sub-processes. In the "Threads" tab of the detailled view I can see that 90% of the CPU time is used up by "ntkrnlpa.exe+0x803c0". The "Interrupts" process is running at 3-5% of CPU time, I'm not sure if this accounts for the amount of CPU time that System takes.

  We have a SharePoint Services 3.0 site set up supporting about 300 users right now. This report is isolated and has never been duplicated. We have one AD user who cannot log into the SharePoint site with his account from his machine and is subsequently returned a 401.1 error. If any other user tries to log on with their account from his machine, it works okay. If he moves to another machine and logs on, it works okay. The only solution to this point has been to install FireFox on the machine. When he authenticates with FF, everything is okay. Remedies tried so far: Cleared cookies/cache Turned off/on Integrated Windows Authentication in IE Downgraded IE 8 to IE 6 Removed site from Intranet Sites zone Renamed the machine Disjoined/Rejoined Domain

• Remote Desktop Software - TeamViewer comparison?

  Preliminary Note: After reading what I wrote below, I would like to stress that this ain't a TeamViewer ad. It's just that all other tools that I checkked online seem to miss one feature or the other. :-) OK, so I'm currently trying to get a picture of available solutions for remote desktop software. I have found (through personal usage) that TeamViewer pretty much ticks all boxes that I personally would want from any remoting tool. (Specifically it's setup is amazingly trivial.) It supports a wide range of platforms and it's even free for private use, so I'm really quite OK with it. I would be interested if anyone knows of other tools that ticks as many boxes as TeamViewer seems to do.

• How Exchange integrates with DC

  This probably is a very open ended question, but really I'm only looking for a specific aspect I suppose. It relates to a reboot question I posted earlier, relating to restart orders of servers, Server Restart's and Respective Orders. Please take a look if you get a second for input! Basically - in relation to how Exchange integrates with AD, what would happen in two scenarios: 1). The Exchange server is booted up before the DC is online 2). • Hyper-V CPU Utilization, Good Tools?

  I just learned a ton from this post: Host CPU% doesn't include child VM CPU%, specifically I learned that both the 'host OS' and 'child VM' are siblings within the HyperVisor layer. Are there good utilities for 'watching' the total CPU and other resource counters at the HyperVisor (hardware) layer? I know perfmon (watching special Hyper-V CPU counters) is the standard answer, but I've stayed away from perfmon for ad-hoc monitoring. Is there a good OSS or free tools to 'watch' the resource utilization as I create multiple new VMs running on the server? I'm a developer, so if there aren't any good UI tools to surface this data I'd consider creating one, but only if needed. P.S. My specific scenario is I'm creating new web, SQL and back-end server VMs for new Windows 8 Server and SQL 2012 (entire application stack). I need to monitor them for utilization and know when I need to grow beyond 1 host (I'll need to split the VMs into separate hosts as I hit hardware limits of the 1st host, and diagnose problems).

  Domain controller failed to restore using windows backup tools One Issue: One 08 R2 domain controller with fully daily backup(only one controller in this company) is out of services due to hardware issue. The below two methods i tried to recover to the new purchasing server,but it is fail. 1)First Method: Using the windows 2008 R2 CD to boot and carry out recover from backup. Everything is OK, but after reboot it will come out blue screen and restart again. 2)Second Method: a)Install the OS in this new server b) Reboot the server to DSRM. c)Using the Windows Backup Tools to restore the system states only After reboot, it will come out the blue screen error and restart again. I know this is may be the different hardware issue, but how to resolve? Or can we only restore the AD services not whole system status? Any suggestion?

• Network Printer Issue.

  Hello, I have a Windows-7 Desktop at office. There is a network printer Dell MFP2335dn which is installed on this dekstop. The printer worked fine for me(I could print from my desktop), sometime back but recently i am not been able to print. When i give a print job, it stays in the queue for a long time, nothing gets printed. When i see the status of the printer in "Devices and Printers", it says - Offline. I removed the printer installed on my Desktop, and tried to install the drivers downloaded from Dell website: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R241894&formatcnt=0&libid=0&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=349205 But still the same problem. I don't know what to do more to resolve this. Any pointers about how to resolve this error and get printing done. thanks, -AD.

• How to set up custom 401 error page or redirect in WSS3 SP2

  I've got a WSS3 sharepoint site that requires windows authentication both in IIS and via the Sharepoint site. What I would like to do is in the case that a user does not provide valid AD credentials they are redirected to a custom error page. Currently, if the user immediately hits cancel when prompthey will see a plain text response of "401 UNAUTHORIZED". If they make an attempt and then hit cancel they instead see a blank page. I have looked into several options such as customErrors, httpModule interception (only saw examples for this after the user is authenticated), IIS Url rewrites (didn't see how this could help). Is there a good way to do this?

Most of our users operate under a policy that propts them for a password change every 6 months as a security measure, with a few administrator accounts & terminal machines not using the policy for the sake of ease as they are needed all the time. Recently all machines regardless of policy have started asking for a password change out of schedule. Some PCs run Windows 7 & some XP, though the password prompts don't seem to discriminate between OS. What could this be down to? Many thanks

• Windows 2008 Server Unable to activate with other methods

  I'm trying to activate windows 2008 server SP2 today since the activation trial is done. I do not have an internet connection with this server so I can not activate online, and with the other servers in this farm I've been able to run the slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx and then it would open up the activate by phone method and we would just activate that way. I say again, I don't have an internet connection so I can not do the online activate. If I do the slui 4 it brings up the activation window but show me other ways to activate is still greyed out. I've disabled the NIC on this Hyper-V server and I still can not get the other way to activate to show up... Anyone have any ideas? This computer is one of my AD servers so.. it being in notification mode kind of sucks. Thanks.

• Superscope DHCP leases and configuration set up

  Hello I wanted to see if someone could help with a network problem I am having. Right now we have a super-scope and scopes of 192.168.50.1 and 192.168.51.1, as of now both are activated but only 192.168.50.1 is handing our leases, 192.168.51 wont. here is a summary of our network Gateway: watchguard firebox x750e for our router/gateway at 192.168.50.1 I set up as a secondary IP address 192.168.51.1 Server: Server 2008 r2 standard, running our DNS @ 192.168.50.242 and 8.8.8.8 as a secondary, AD, and DHCP. On that NIC card i have 192.168.50.242 as the IP address and 192.168.51.242 as a secondary. 192.168.50.1 as the default gateway and 192.168.51.1 as a secondary. Im am not very knowledgeable at this but as far as i have researched after adding a super scope and activating scopes, they should automatically start handing out addresses and I cant figure out why only one does. any help at all would be appreciated.

• Is it possible to push DNS search suffices from DNS server to client?

  Our (active directory, windows-server-based) intranet used to be called "intranet", and DNS worked fine for windows machines and iPads/Android devices. We have changed it to be "apps.intranet", and it still works for windows machines, but no longer for iPads/Android devices. I think this is because out windows clients are configured to append .company.com when searching DNS, to make it a fully qualified lookup (this search suffix list is pushed to the PCs via AD group policies). I must admit, though, I don't know why it worked with just "intranet"! Does anyone know if it's possible to get DNS to "tell" the iPads/Android devices to append .company.com ... or how we can make it work some other way (but still using the multi-label, non-qualified DNS names) ? • Is there a way to reliably backup and restore a complex network configuration on Windows XP?

  I have some Windows XP laptops (10+) that host a ad-hoc WIFI network connection to wireless PDA devices. The laptop itself is connected via a 3rd party VPN radio network. The radio network itself seems to be reliable. If one small thing goes wrong with the network configuration then the PDA loses connectivity and so I need a way to backup a networking config , either via a script or a 3rd party program, so that I can restore a working network configuration if something goes wrong. Is this possible? Does anyone have any ideas?

  My Nod32 have been catching something that is apparently identified as Python/Lesta.A worm. No matter how many times I tell Nod32 to delete and quarantine the file, it always re-appear, the situation will repeat about 3-4 times a day. This thing has been creating a folder called "pamela" in one of my drives, it sometimes also creates a "xxx.folder" file, which Nod32 identifies as "Exploit/CodeBase virus". I have Googled, and done pretty much everything related to this: a full scan in safe mode with no networking turned on, and also ran Ad-Aware, SpyBot, SpyHunter, ComboFix and cleaned the registry. Any idea how I can completely get rid of this annoying virus/worm?

• Cannot Delete "Account Unknown" account in Windows XP SP3

  If I Right click on My Computer, Select Properties, then click on Advanced-User Profiles-Settings, I get a list of user accounts on my machine and I see a few that are "Account Unknown" in there with large profiles and I want my space back. I am assuming this is because these users are long gone and AD no longer recognizes their SIDs. The problem is that the Delete button is grayed out, but only for the accounts, the ones that are recognized, I can delete jsut fine. These accounts do not show up in Computer Management at all, and I am an administrator on my machine - any ideas on how to delete them?

• Powershell and DfsrConfigurationFromAD - how to check all servers are updated?

  I have two Win2012R2 servers (SERVER1 and SERVER2) that uses DFS Replication for keeping a couple of folders synchronized. Using the following Powershell-script that i run on SERVER1 I disconnect it from the group: Set-DfsrConnection -GroupName "Group1" -SourceComputerName "SERVER1" -DestinationComputerName "SERVER2" -DisableConnection $True; And to update both the servers with the configuration I run the command: Update-DfsrConfigurationFromAD -ComputerName "SERVER1","SERVER2" Now the question is, how can check on SERVER1 that SERVER2 has gotten the updated information from the AD so that I can be sure that the connection has been disabled? Usually it takes around 10-30 seconds after the Update-DfsrConfigurationFromAD command has been run before the DFS Management on SERVER2 gets updated but I need some kind of a "check and sleep loop" in my code. I've tried checking event logs and using Invoke-Command {Get-DfsrConnection} from PM-SERVER01 but nothing seems to work.

• Updating Mcafee Group Shield on Exchange Server

  So I don't actually have a problem yet, but I might. You see my fathers company have 10 computers and an exchange server with Mcafee Group Shield. lately they've had issues with mails from customers being blocked. I found both the problem and the solution: Mcafee update so basicly update their Mcafee group shield to the newest service pack and we are all back in buisness.. while I have some limited exchange experience and AD too. I don't have any Mcafee experience. I don't wanna crash their server for a week and have them need to get someone to recover it. So my question in here.. is it supposedly as easy as to click an 'update' button and to reboot your server.. or are there several issues I need to be aware about..? Maybe there is some common issue that goes with updating antivirus on an exchange server that I don't know about..

• Powershell Foreach-Object with if statement not working - help!

  I have a batch file that takes a computer name as its argument and will install Java JRE on it remotely. Now, Im trying to run this Powershell script to repeatedly call the batch file and install Java on any system that it finds without the latest version. It seems to run error-free, but the statements inside the if code block never seem to run - even when the if conditional test evaluates to true. Can anyone look at this script and point out what I'm possibly missing? I'm using the Quest AD cmdlets, and BSOnPosh module. • Exchange 2007 mailbox reassignment

  I am trying to move a mailbox from one user account to another within a single AD domain. We are using Exchange 2007. I have followed these steps: Disable the account From "Disconnected Mailbox" container, connect to the new account I get a success message When I try to login to OWA using the new user account, I get this message: Outlook Web Access could not connect to Microsoft Exchange. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization. Request Url: https://mail.somedomain.com:443/owa/default.aspx User host address: 1.2.3.4 Exception Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ConnectionFailedTransientException Exception message: Cannot open mailbox /o=cgsexchangeorganization/ou=exchange administrative group (fydibohf23spdlt)/cn=recipients/cn=someuser. NOTE: I changed some identifying information for security purposes. I have tried multiple times and get to the same place. When I login to OWA with old account, I get an error that the mailbox cannot be found, which makes total sense. Does anybody have any ideas on this? Thanks!

• Finding Locked Out Users

  Active Directory up to 2008 network (our servers are a mix of 2008, 2003...) I'm looking for a quick way to query AD to find out what users are locked out, preferably from a batch or script file, to monitor for possible issues with either user accounts being attacked by an automated attack or just anomalies in the network. I've Googled and my Google-fu has failed; I found a query off Microsoft's own knowledgebase that cites a string to use on Server 2003 with the management snap-in's saved queries (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555131) but when I entered it, the query returned 400 users that a spot-check showed did NOT have a checkmark in the "Account is locked out" box under "account." In fact, I don't see anything wrong with their accounts. Is there a simple utility (wisesoft bulkadusers apparently uses this method behind the scenes, since it's results were also wrong) that will give a count of users and possibly their user object names? Script? Something?
