• nVidia Settings: Overriding anti-aliasing causes delay

  I'm using Google Sketchup on ubuntu 12.04 with Wine 1.4. It works flawlessly out of the box, but anti-aliasing is causing some problems. I can override anti-aliasing settings using the nVidia X Server Settings utility, which results in a great-looking image. However, the view doesn't seem to update properly. It's a bit hard to explain, but if I do something (e.g. zooming) the changes won't appear in the view until I take another action. in other words, there seems to be a delay of one "action". Take this example. The mouse wheel is moved one notch to zoom in one step. Nothing happens. An object is selected by clicking. The new zoom is rendered but the selection box doesn't appear. An empty area is clicked. The selection box appears. Is there something that I can do to solve the problem? Could I force the GPU to redraw that view with a certain interval, or is there some other solution? I really like anti-aliasing, but it's hard to use when drawing stuff.

• Building a Web proxy to get around same-origin restrictions for collaborative Webapp based on a MEAN stack

  Can anyone point to books, articles, blogs, or even applications - open-source or proprietary - that detail building a Web proxy? This specific proxy will exist to get around the same-origin restrictions that prevent, for instance, loading a given Website into an <iframe> in a Webapp. This Webapp is a collaborative application in which a group of users log in to the app's Website and can then load different Websites into this app's <iframe> and do various collaborative things (e.g., several users simultaneously browsing a Website, in synch). The Webapp itself is built on a MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, and Node.js). The purpose of this proxy is not to do anonymous browsing or to bypass censorship. Information on how to build such a vehicle seems not to be readily available from my research. I've come across Glype but am not sure whether this is a feasible solution. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so if a product is available for purchase, great. Else, we'd need to build one. The one that seems to be close is http://www.corsproxy.com. In effect, we'd like to re-create this since it evidently does what's needed. I don't care what server-side technology is used. Our app is MEAN-based, if that has any bearing. Also, the proxy has to obviously honor basic security considerations (user cookies, etc.) and eventually be scalable. So, anyone know of any sources that would detail how to build one of these? Is it even worth building if something already exists? If so, what would be a good candidate? Any other issues that should be considered with this proxy/application? Thanks a lot!

Can I run Ubuntu on this machine without any problems? 2.I am windows user and currently have windows 8. I want to install ubuntu but want to save all my directories on C:\ D:\ disks so that I can open my files in ubuntu. Is it possible to save my current directory system and save all my files after installing ubuntu? Can I open all my files?   Since my SO thread was closed i guess i can ask it here. What practice or practices are good 90% of the time when working with threading with multiple cores? Personally all i have done was share immutable classes and pass (copy) data to a queue to the destine thread. Note: This is for research and when i say 90% of the time i dont mean it is allowed to fail 10% of the time (thats ridiculous!) i mean 90% it is a good solution while the other 10% it is not so desirable due to implementation or efficiently reasons (or plainly another technique fits the problem domain a lot better).

  Currently going through a process of testing two AdWords ppc providers at the same time from two separate AdWords accounts. However they will require access to my GA account for linking and ecommerce tracking. Which means that they will be able to see each others results. I dont want this; Is it possible to set up GA so that; Company A only sees Adwords results associated to their AdWords management via GA Company B only sees Adwords results associated to their AdWords management via GA And each company never sees the other company's Adwords results? 100 positive karma points to anyone who can shed some light on this.   Hayy guy i got a satellite l640 and i installed ubuntu 12.04 on it and i dont get the battery percentage ive tried a fair bit but this is my first time using linux. Ive gone into the power option and ive installed battery status apps and still i get nothing. There was one saying how much amps and what not the battery has and it all has 0.00 for everything, ive also tried the terminal cammands to see the percentage and that doesnt work. Is there anything i can do or should i just got back to windows.

• Good 2D Platformer Physics

  I have a basic character controller set up for a 2D platformer with Box2D, and I'm starting to tweak it to try to make it feel good. Physics engines have a lot of knobs to tweak, and it's not clear to me, writing with a physics engine for the first time, which ones I should use. Should jumping apply a force for several ticks? An impulse? Directly set velocity? How do I stop the avatar from sticking to walls without taking away all its friction (or do I take away all the friction, but only in the air)? Should I model the character as a capsule? A box with rounded corners? A box with two wheels? Just one big wheel? I feel like someone must have done this before! There seem to be very few resources available on the web that are not "baby's first physics", which all cut off where I'm hoping someone has already solved the issues. Most examples of physics engines for platformers have floaty-feeling controls, or in-air jumps, or easily exploitable behavior when temporary penetration is too high, etc. Some examples of what I mean: A short tap of jump jumps a short distance; a long tap jumps higher. Short skidding when stopping or reversing directions at high velocity. Standing stably on inclines (but maybe sliding down them when ducking). Analog speed when using an analog controller. All the other things that separate good platformers from bad platformers. Dare I suggest, stable moving platforms? I'm not really looking for "hey, do this." Obviously, the right thing to do is dependent on what I want in the game. But I'm hoping someone somewhere has gone through the possibilities and said "well technique A does feature X well, technique B does Y well, but that doesn't work with C", or has some worked examples beyond "if (key == space) character.impulse(0, 1)"

  I am building an website. It has an .nl domain. Now only my domain is showing up on google.nl I hope I can change this somehow that it could be findable in all google's (like google.com / co.uk) and so on. If I look on google forums. They say go to webmaster tools and change your geographic position over there. But I have added this site and I am not able to change it there because there is no select box. I dont have any idea were to search (yes I searched on google offcourse) or where to ask for this special problem. So maybe here can someone redirect me or explain me what is possible and what not. • Jquery website is not opening in UBUNTU but in XP, Everything is fine

  I know it is weird, But I just discovered this, jquery.com is not opening in my ubuntu firefox or other KDE browser and hence many sites that copy codes from code.jquery.com also hanged. Is there any solution to this problem. I have found the problem It is actually with the DNS servers I am using, Google DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, whenever I use these DNS in ubuntu my system stop responding to some sites, actually they are connected nicely, but the request end up in waiting.. I dont understand why...??? I checked my DNS with cat /etc/resolv.conf Even after using Google DNS, it is showing DNS servers I received automatically after connecting to the service provider. I am connecting using Network Manager, not using DNS I provided but using the default one. Any Solution??

  after having installed ubuntu 13.04 i can not connect to the internet wirelessly or wired? can only connect to internet by using "try ubuntu" via ethernet cable, ive tried seeking help in so many different ways yet getting no positive outcome at all, will someone please explain why i can only connect with ethernet while i have the cd in the tray? ive also tried downloading b43 drivers to connect to the internet but apparently i dont have enough disk space, what is going on here? i have the disk in the tray now at the screen where you can either try or install, if someone could give me a step by step from here it would probably cut out all this hassle of me not knowing whats going on

The server was not found or was not accessible DOH!!!! Or a clean translation is that it cant find SQL or is offline or not running. SO check the power is on/Service running or as in my case Edit web.config & change back to Work SQL box   Hope you dont have this pain as the default errors @ the moment suck balls in the EntityFramework 4.XX releases   Cheers

  So I have a HP Envy with ATI Radeon 5450 + intel switchable graphics. I think (though I'm not sure) that the Radeon is running right now on Ubuntu 12.04 (because my laptop is making too much noise when I'm doing something non gpu intensive like word processing, or web browsing). So what I want to do is disable the ATI Radeon and use the Intel instead. I looked around and it seems all the solutions use switcheroo, but I dont have it on my computer!   I am a programmer and have just started reading Algorithms. I am not completely convinced with the notations namely Bog Oh, Big Omega and Big Theta. The reason is by definition of Big Oh, it states that there should be a function g(x) such that it is always greater than or equal to f(x). Or f(x) <= c.n for all values of n n0. My doubt is the why dont we mention the constant value in the definition? For example. lets say a function 6n+4, we denote it as O(n). but its not true that the definition holds good for all constant value. this holds good only when c = 10 and n = 1. For lesser values of c than 6, the value of n0 increases. So why we do not mention the constant value as a part of the definition.

  Ubuntu 10.10, Midori 0.3.2 browser (same problem with Epiphany 2.30.2, Chrome 11.0.686.1 dev; haven't tried with Firefox as yet) Proxychains-3.1 installed, working fine. Here is the deal: when NOT proxychained, Midori or Epiphany can download and open a file (e.g. PDFs from a Google search) in Evince without problem. But when proxychained, neither browser can open PDF files. The message is, "file xxx downloaded". Then it tries to open the file, an indication appears in the status bar, the turning wheel appears, and then nothing. Evince doesn't open. Whats going on here? In both cases (with and without proxychains) files are downloaded to the /tmp folder. They have the same file permissions and ownership. Whats different when proxychained? Why can't the files be opened and why are there no error messages or notifications. Why the silent failure? I don't want to use FF or Chrome. Chrome does not follow my GTK2 customizations and FF is just too resource heavy. Please help.

  Sorry for the newbie question. I am using Powershell 3 to get a list of all user accounts. I am trying to generate an output for accounts, either "Enabled" or "Disabled". I am able to get the account status code from active directory using: $rc = $Rech.PropertiesToLoad.Add("userAccountControl"); That will display the correct account status code. When I try to use an if statement on the value, I dont get any result. How do I put this value into a variable to use some logic with it? In the end, my requirements are to have the output to an CSV file that I can send to HR and have them examin it and instead of a code I would like to have it say "Enabled" or "Disabled". Thank you.
