• Subversion: How to compare differences between incoming changes?

  I would like to see the changes that my co-workers have made before I accept the incoming changes. So I start by getting the status svn st -u ...which tells me that I've got an incoming change * 9803 incomingChanges.html M 9803 localChanges.html M * 9803 localAndIncoming.html I can see what I've changed svn diff localChanges.html ...but how can I diff incomingChanges.html and/orlocalAndIncoming.html to show what has been changed, and how it's different than my working copy?

• Homebrew requires something uninstall-developer-folder removes

  I was having trouble installing irssi (brew install irssi), so I ran brew doctor, which returned a warning mentioning an outdated copy of Xcode and saying I should run /Developer/Library/uninstall-developer-folder. Then I ran brew doctor again and got: Error: No such file or directory - /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk How do I reinstall the SDK, or is there another way to get Homebrew working again? UPDATE: /Developer actually still exists (despite the obvious implication of uninstall-developer-folder), as does /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.7.sdk. Why does Homebrew specifically need Snow Leopard's SDK?

• rails didnt install correclty, specificly the uninstaller

  ive just installed rails using railsinstaller.org for osx, rails and ruby seem to be working ok (checked by running rails -v and ruby --version). But when it installed i got an error saying that not there were errors and the uninstaller didnt install correctly. Somthing odd i saw was that when i load terminal i get this showing up Last login: Fri Nov 30 13:12:09 on ttys000 unknown5c969d7cc475:~ Sam$ specificly the "unknon5c96..." part im not sure if its related ? I think i might have got the install error as xcode wasnt installed first, for peice of mind id like to unistall it and load it back on, but when i try and run the installer from the application folder it just asks for my password and then dose nothing.. any ideas how i can fix this ?

• Pull/Clone a svn repository into hg with new default branch name?

  I'm forking a project's SVN repo and need to integrate into my Mercurial repo. To keep things simple I have a local hgsubversion repo and a local hg repo. However both the mercurial and hgsubversion repo uses default as their default branch name. My goal here is to put the original code and updates on one branch and my code on the default branch However I have yet to be able to do this. • How do I pass a callback function to sqlite3_exec on iOS 5.1?

  I am new to both xcode/iOS/Objective-C and sqlite. I am trying to teach myself the basics - and I would like to use the sqlite3 wrapper "sqlite3_exec" for a select query. For some reason, I can't find a simple example anywhere of someone doing this. Basically, the method has a parameter (the third one) for a callback function: int sqlite3_exec( sqlite3*, /* An open database */ const char *sql, /* SQL to be evaluated */ int (*callback)(void*,int,char**,char**), /* Callback function */ void *, /* 1st argument to callback */ char **errmsg /* Error msg written here */ ); That's fine. I'm no stranger to callbacks. However, I just can't seem to get the syntax down right. But, XCode doesn't like the "myCallback" usage at the bottom there. It says: Undeclared Use of Identifier 'myCallback.' That method is declared in the header file, and I've even tried making it static. Nothing seems to make this error go away. I know I must be doing something fundamentally wrong here, but for the life of me I can't figure out what - I can't even find other code samples in this area that could help me figure out what I'm missing. • iPhone Debugging: How to resolve 'failed to get the task for process'?

  I have just added a provisioning profile to XCode (needed to support notifications and in app purchase), setup as needed the build configuration for ad hoc distribution, and tried to run the app on the device (I have done this several times in the past, without any problem). The app is installed, but it does not start. On the console, I see the following message: Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82. Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82. The program being debugged is not being run. The program being debugged is not being run. However, if I start the application on the device manually, it works as expected. I have recently installed the latest XCode 3.2 for Snow Leopard. Is this a known bug of this version of XCode or am I doing something wrong? EDIT: It works fine with release distribution using the development provisioning profile. I have checked again the ad hoc provisioning profile to make sure it includes the device I am using.

• Monotouch.dialog and story board apps?

  I'm trying to use mt.d; I've "drawn" an app using the storyboard feature of Xcode. My app consists of a tabbar which displays one of three viewcontrollers. Two out of three are simple viewcontrollers (single screens) and one is a splitviewcontroller. The splitview is tricky; using the stock xcode components I've drawn a master / table and a detail view. The table works as expected, but now I want to use mt.d to fill the detailview (later I need it to depend on the selection of the master, but not for now). I've subclassed the splitviewcontroller; in the viewdidload event I've created a mt.d dialogviewcontroller. Now I'm trying to push the dialogviewcontroller to the detailview, using the splitviewcontroller.viewcontrollers array. Doesn't seem to work; when running the app it still some an empty screen for the detail view (as drawn in xcode). Any clues for doing what I want? Thanx!

  The background: I have a project that I last built on 10.5 on a PPC computer using xcode v3.1. It builds against the 10.4 SDK. I now have a MacBook with 10.6 on it and Xcode v3.2.1. I installed the 10.4 SDK with xcode. So now I want to build the project on an intel chip on 10.6. I first get a build error because I have the wrong version of gcc setup so I change the build settings to use gcc 4.0.   Hi, I'm trying to upload an iPhone app binary to iTunesConnect and keep getting the following error message "The binary you upload was invalid. the file was not a valid zip file". I had an app upload ok recently but this app is having problems. So after a while I carefully went through the following steps trying to make sure everything was ok. Any help is appreciated. The steps: renamed the project (Project-Rename... enter name into Rename project to:) to release name making sure the name has no spaces. Cleaned project Make sure references in build setting reflect new app name Create new app ID matching project name in iPhone Provisioning Portal Destroyed old developer and distributer provisioning profiles in Provisioning Portal, in XCode and on iPhone. Create new development provisioning profile using new app name. Install development provisioning profile into XCode 8) Build (Release) for iPhone OS 3.1.3 (highest my phone will upgrade to, I'm assuming current released version) Builds, Installs and Runs on actual iPhone: To me this implys App and developer ID's are OK. Create a distributor provisioning profile using existing Distributer ID. Install distributer ID into XCode Clean Checked that "Code Signing Identity" and "Any iPhone OS Device" lines in Build settings are set to Distributor ID Build for release for OS 3.1.3 Check Build results to make sure code is signed with Distributor Profile Reveal .app file and compress (alt click Compress "appName.app") Upload to iTunes connect Gives "The binary you uploaded was invalid. • Permissions on Mac OSX

  I think that this is a permissions issue but I am not sure and I am not sure how to repair the problem. I have a new MacBook. I have 2 external drives that were previously used on another MacBook. I have a lot of folders and XCode projects on the external drives. When I try to work on the projects, there is a message similar to this: "This file is not writable. You may not be able to save your changes, but you will be able to Save a Copy somewhere else. Do you want to edit this file anyway?" If I make changes and try to close the project I get this error: "The project and user files project.pbxproj and macbook.pbxuser for project “thirdtry.xcodeproj” are not writeable and cannot be saved. Your changes will be lost if you close the project. You may need to SCM edit these files to gain writability." I have tried just to rename the folder but that permission is not allowed either unless I individually change permissions for every file in an XCode project. As you can imagine, this could be time consuming for tons of files and projects. I can copy the project into internal memory and can run it then after renaming the folder that contains all of the files. This defeats the purpose of having all of the projects on an external drive. Also, in XCode, there is no "Build and Run" there is only "Build and Debug" now. I don't know if this is related or not. Suggestions for how to repair all permissions to all files and folders on my external drives? What about the "Build and Debug" and no "Build and Run" choice? Thanks, Linda

• Linux server apache httpd processes take i/o wait to close to 100% and lock down server

  For about 5 days now, and seemingly out of the blue, my linux server has started locking up from time to time. The pattern is always the same as far as I can tell from top and iotop commands around the time it starts happening: One or more httpd processes (usually one) hang and start using up 100% of CPU power, the %wa goes close to 100% and in the iotop I see several httpd processes with 99.99% in the IO column. I'm also running an SVN server on this machine through apache and the one way that I've been consistently able to reproduce this is to do an SVN commit of new files or an SVN update from the repository on this server (I am the only one using this SVN repository). This will always reproduce this scenario successfully, but until very recently I had no problems at all checking in/out of SVN. But sometimes it just happens for no detectable reason at all it seems. So it seems like there is some issue with my Apache that leads it to have processes use up a lot of read/write upon certain triggers. I was wondering if anyone could help me uncover that issue. I killed that service but %wa and load average remain high, I also stopped mysqld and other services. It really only goes down once I stop httpd altogether, and even then I can't start it without finding remaining hanging httpd processes via "netstat -tulpn", killing those or doing "killall -9 httpd" and after waiting a while for it to cycle through all those then doing /etc/init.d/httpd start

• "file not found" error while commiting

  I have a working copy, checked out from SVN repository. When i'm trying to commit, i get following error: svn: File not found: revision 57, path '/trunk/path/to/my/file/logo-mini.jpg' I've found this file in the repo and noticed, that it has only one revision - 58. I don't understand, why SVN complains about this file, when it is presented and why it points to revision 57 instead of 58 ? I've also renamed the grand-grand-grand-parent folder of this file. Possible, this is an issue ... Update Detailed error description, that i've got from Cornerstone app (Mac OS X): Description : Could not find the specified file. Even this does't helps. Still getting the same error. I've got no results.

• Subversion and Quickbooks Files

  I currently have a large problem on one of the file servers I manage for an Accounting Firm. Quickbooks has a tendency to create multiple files of the same thing over and over to prevent data loss. This is a good thing when you handle just a few files. But at an accounting firm it becomes a problem. Some of the older clients have 5-10 files in their respective folders, each with a different cut off date. Because of user error some of these file aren't labeled properly with their correct cutoff dates. This is where Subversion came to mind. Using the revision system would allow for 1 file to be master and have all of its revisions. Has anyone ever tried this with Quickbooks files? I've only used SVN with code for applications making each file size much smaller. How does SVN stand up with larger files like 10-25MB? I'm not exactly sure how SVN handles revisions - does it keep a duplicate of the files and duplicates the disk space space needed?

  I'm attempting to setup svnserve with SASL support on my Slackware 13.1 server and after some trial and error I'm able to get it to work with the configuration listed below: svnserve.conf [general] anon-access = read auth-access = write realm = myrepo [sasl] use-sasl = true min-encryption = 128 max-encryption = 256 /etc/sasl2/svn.conf pwcheck_method: auxprop auxprop_plugin: sasldb sasldb_path: /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb mech_list: DIGEST-MD5 sasldb users $ sasldblistusers2 -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb test@myrepo: cmusaslsecretOTP test@myrepo: userPassword You'll notice that the output of sasldblistusers2 shows my test user as having both an encrypted cmusaslsecretOTP password as well as a plain text userPassword passwd. i.e., if I were to run strings /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb I would see the test users' password in plaintext. These two password entries were created with the following subversion book recommended command: saslpasswd2 -c -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb -u myrepo test After reading man saslpasswd2 I see the following option: -n Don't set the plaintext userPassword property for the user. Only mechanism-specific secrets will be set (e.g. OTP, SRP) This is exactly what I want to do, suppress the plain text password and only use the mechanism-specific secret (OTP in my case). So I clear out /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb and rerun saslpasswd2 as: saslpasswd2 -n -c -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb -u myrepo test I then follow it up with a sasldblistusers2 and I see: $ sasldblistusers2 -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb test@myrepo: cmusaslsecretOTP Perfect! I think, now I have only encrypted passwords.... only neither the Linux svn client nor the Windows TortoiseSVN client can connect to my repo anymore. They both present me with the user/pass challenge but that's as far as I get. TLDR So, what is the point of SVN supporting SASL if my sasldb must store its passwords in plaintext to work?

• Can rpmbuild ingore files in buildroot?

  I have a target directory that is checked into svn. I use the target as the --buildroot when I run rpmbuild. This causes rpmbuild to loose it mind because of the .svn directories in each directory. Is there a way to tell rpmbuild to relax? I looked at svn export target target-build, but it only knows about files tracked by rpm. Perhaps not a bad way to do it, but I'm not quite sure that is the best way.

• Why MAMP sets to 600 MySQL file permission?

  I usually put MAMP MySQL /db/db-site-name folder under SVN. When MAMP starts, it gives the drw------- (600) permission to all the files and dir in that folder. I have a problem because one of these folder is .svn one, that have to be drwxr-xr-x (755), otherwise I can't access to SVN working copy with my client. Can anyone help me to set MAMP properly?

There are a huge number of directories and subdirectories and i basically want to clean up all of the subversion .svn folders before i attempt to import to a new repository and i dont want svn to get confused. is there anyway to clean out a directory structure to remove all svn references?

  Hello all! I have a pretty weird problem. We have setup an SVN-Mirror via cronjob (because it needs to go from inside to outside of a firewall, so no post-commit-hook possible) and svnsync. We installed a pre-revprop-hook just as told. Everything seems to work fine, except that it doesn't. But we need that information for our internal processes. Since no error or warning is produced I have absolutely no idea even where to start to look. Everything is local (except for the remote master), so there are no server-logs to look at. I also tried to manually recopy via svnsync copy-revprops (http://chestofbooks.com/computers/revision-control/subversion-svn/svnsync-Copy-revprops-Ref-svnsync-C-Copy-revprops.html). It says Copied properties for revision 19885. But when I query them, it's just the same. Any ideas how I could approach that problem, or even better -- how to solve it? Any ideas appreciated.

  I'm setting up LDAP authentication for our Subversion repository hosted through Apache on a RHEL 5 system. I run into two different issues when I try to authenticate against Active Directory. <Location /svn/> Dav svn SvnParentPath /srv/subversion SVNListParentPath On AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion Repository" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPBindDN "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" AuthLDAPBindPassword "mypass" AuthLDAPUrl "ldap://my.example.com:389/ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=user)" NONE Require valid-user </Location> If I use the above configuration it continually prompts me with the Basic prompt and I have to eventually select Cancel, which returns a 401 (Authorization Required). If I comment out the bind parts it returns 500 (Internal Server Error), griping that authentication failed: [Mon Nov 02 12:00:00 2009] [warn] [client x.x.x.x] [10744] auth_ldap authenticate: user myuser authentication failed; URI /svn [ldap_search_ext_s() for user failed][Operations error] When I perform the bind using ldapsearch and filter for a simple attribute it returns correctly: ldapsearch -h my.example.com -p 389 -D "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -b "ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -w - "&(objectClass=user)(cn=myuser)" sAMAccountName Unfortunately I have no control or insight into the AD part of the system, only the RHEL server. Does anyone know what the hang up is here?

  We happily use SVN for SCM at work. Currently I've got our binary assets in the same SVN repository as our code. SVN supports very large files (it transmits them 'streamily' to keep memory usage sane), but it is SLOOWWWWW. What asset management software do you recommend, for about a GB (and growing) worth of assets? We would prefer branching and merging (different assets & config files go to different customers).

• Prevent command "del /s" from entering a folder

  I need to recursively remove unnecessary files from a svn repository and i have the following batch file to do this: @echo on del /s ~*.* del /s *.~* del /s Thumbs.db However, this is also deleting the entries under the .svn/ subfolders. Is there any way to prevent this commands from being executed under the .svn/ folders so that it doesn't mess things up? Thanks in advance! EDIT: A solution using Bash (cygwin) would also work for me since i just need to do this once.
