• Missing Master Pages when using Web Deployment Project

  I am trying to deploy an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Application to my production server and I am using the Web Deployment Project for this purpose. I have a folder named MasterPages in the root of the application which contains all the master page files. When I build this project in the release mode and deploy it on to the server I am getting the below error message: Directory 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\MasterPages' does not exist. Failed to start monitoring file changes. I am using ASP.NET AJAX and the ToolkitScriptManager is on the master pages. I have noticed that the MasterPages folder is missing from the release build. Can anyone help me with this?

• CodeBlocks, GCC: change project language c and c++?

  When I select console project to start with, it lets you select c or c++, but once its created.. i can't figure out where to change it, and when you create a win32 gui application, it doesn't give you the option at all, and its default is c++.. where can i change to c? i have been looking in all the project settings for AGES. renaming my file from cpp to .c doesn't seem to do anything, it compiles the file as cpp. i know that without the ide, you just change your exe from g++ to gcc, but how do i set this for the current project in codeblocks?

• iPhone link to map directions using string "current location" not lat and lng for saddr

  I know there are numerous questions about how to construct a sharedApplication link to the maps app specifying the start and end address with coordinates. I've got that working no problem. Has anyone found a way to link with a source address generically specified as "current location". I ask because the scenario I'm working on having Core Location or a UIMapView would only be necessary in order to determine the user location prior to handing off to the map app where the user locating would seem to just happen again. I've tried throwing UTF8'd "Current Location" and "[Current Location]" into the saddr parameter which amusingly starts from Current Montana. I've also tried simply excluding the saddr param. I know this is often tread territory but this particular situation wasn't covered by anything I found searching here or on mapki. Before I add the core location code I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a more limited way to tackle this. Thanks

• Best Fit Scheduling Algorithim

  I'm writing a scheduling program with a difficult programming problem. There are several events, each with multiple meeting times. I need to find an arrangement of meeting times such that each schedule contains any given event exactly once, using one of each event's multiple meeting times. Obviously I could use brute force, but that's rarely the best solution. I'm guessing this is a relatively basic computer science problem, which I'll learn about once I am able to start taking computer science classes. In the meantime, I'd prefer any links where I could read up on this, or even just a name I could Google.

  Hi, I was trying to find a user friendly mime parser for java that could just get rid of all that message part parsing a user have to do. see this for more info about my requirement. Until now i have not been able to find one, so i think i need to write one for myself, that should be robust enough to handle all kind of emails. (I know this is not going to be easy.) • Parsing JPEG file format: Format of entropy-coded segment (ECS) segments?

  I'm having difficulty understanding the ITU-T T.81 spec for the JPEG file format. Hopefully someone else here has tried to parse JPEG files and/or knows about the details of this file format. The spec indiates that the ECS0 segment starts after the SOS segment but I can't find where in the spec it actually talks about the format of the ECS0 segment or how do detect its start. Simple JPEG implementations online are of limited help because they assume many things about the JPEGs they parse. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

• Timeline graph - how to handle "time gaps"?

  I've been working with Google chart API and annotated timeline. Drawing graphs is fine. I have no problem. However, I need to draw a timeline graph for share prices. And as you may know, share prices are meaningful only between certain times (e.g. from 10AM to 4PM, when the market opens and closes). How do I change the Google timeline graph so that on X-Axis, the range is from 10AM-4PM? Right now, it just draws a long constant line between 4PM till 10AM next day before prices start to move again. Man, I hope that makes sens. (Google finance chart seems to do it). • C#: Two forms, one is calling the other one

  Hey all, I have a problem like this, I have two Winforms, f1 and f2. f1 will start a loop on button click, this loop checks a condition and decide to call the other form which is f2 or not. The problem is, the loop may call f2 many times, so each time the other form f2 will be called the first form f1 should pause its execution. So, I solved it like this, I used backgroundWorker + AutoResetEvent. I placed the backgroundWorker in the first form and inside the DoWork event handler I called f2.Show() then I called WaitOne on the AutoResetEvent let it be A. In the other form "f2", on Exiting button I called Set on the same A. But, unfortunately f2 got freezed when clicking that button in f1, what should I change??

• MKReverseGeocoder delegate location?

  I have a quick question regarding memory management that I am not quite sure about. I currently have a locationManager delegate that calls locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation when it resolves the device location. My question is I am looking at adding ReverseGeoCoding after I have obtained the [newLocation coordinate] but am unsure about doing the alloc here, as each time locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation gets called I will be alloc-ing a new MKReverseGeoCoder? // LOCATION -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { // GeoCoding: MKReverseGeocoder *geoCoder = [[MKReverseGeocoder alloc] initWithCoordinate:[newLocation coordinate]]; [geoCoder setDelegate:self]; [geoCoder start]; [self foundLocation]; } Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to this? • Need help with ConnectionString value in C#

  Hi I have an idea and I want to apply it to my Application (C# .NET). When we connect to a DB (MS SQL Server 2008) in VS 2008, the ConnectionString saved in the Application Setting and it's a static varriable (no one can edit it unless you edit it inside VS 2008). I want a way to let my Application search for MS SQL Server and save it to Application Setting and use it to connect to my DB Programmatically. When my application start, the first thing to do is checking the ConnectionString if vaild, NOT Empty and test connection to MS SQL Server Successfully so if there is a proplem I think to show a window form to let the user enter some data like username and password for MS SQL Server 2008 Is there any way to do it?

It should be solution in overriding OnPaint method, but it doesn't. • How to hide a Mono application on the OSX Dock

  I have a Mono application that should not show on the dock, but will occasionally show a window. I want neither menu bar nor dock icon to show for this application. I have my application wrapped in an app bundle, and my info.plist file has the LSUIElement set to "1". This does not seem to be hiding my application from the Dock. I have tried also calling osascript with the following info in a Process.Start: osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to set visible of process "myapp" to false' This returns a System Event error code: -10006. Thus far, I've had no luck finding out what that means. I've also tried all the standard Hide() and Visibility = false stuff inside Mono. Anyone found a workaround for this, or have an idea a direction I can look in? For the most part, working in Mono has been straightforward .Net coding, but this has me stumped.

During runtime, I have to retrieve this XLSX file from the assembly. • Developer workload management software: recommendations?

  In my place, we use two issue tracking tools, one for production bugs, and another for issues on projects in development. These tools are good for managers. However, at an individual level, other work can also arrive through desk visits, email, or the phone, and those allocating the work aren't always interested in issue tracking systems. I've recently rolled off an 18-month project where I got into a cycle of overtime, and I found that I didn't always have good visibility of all work assigned to me. As a result, I was always very busy, and felt constantly laden down with work, but didn't have the clear data to show my manager (or, ironically, the time to stop and gather the information!). A handwritten list, updated at the end of each day, is a good start, but can anyone recommend better tools to help me get a clear view of my own workload? Ideally, I'm thinking of software tools for developers, which could incorporate estimates, but all suggestions welcome. Thanks, Paddy

• Ubuntu | Ruby - Can't Remove Ruby 1.9.2 from system

• Video not playing in IE in hidden div using JW Player, SWFObject and FancyZoom

  Hi all, I have a video that is meant to start playing when a user clicks on an image and said image opens a FancyZoom overlay. It works fine in every browser except IEs. If I place the video in a div that is not hidden (display:none actually), the video starts as expected. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div. Anyone know any workarounds? I tried modifying the FancyZoom library (see my fork: http://github.com/lgomez/fancy-zoom/blob/master/prototype/js/fancyzoom.js) so I could use a callback to inject the video AFTER the zoom effect was completed but that did'n work. • Subsonic custom mapping of objects to tables

  Geeting, I'm using Compact Framework 3.5 and have tenatively settled on a custom build of Subsonic 3.0 to do data access. The trouble is that I am used to developing model-first but am also interested in keeping control of my DB schema. Therefore, neither ActiveRecord or Repository appears to meet my needs, and I want to use my existing POCO model and map it to my existing tables. I'm used to doing this via NHibernate and Entity Framework. After some investigation, it appears that I might be able to author a custom QueryMapping to give me the custom mapping I want. Before I start down this path, however, I'd like to see some kind of example of this being done. I can't seem to find any on the web, and wonder if anyone could give input on experience with Subsonic, model-first and a custom Table-per-Type and Table-per-Hierarchy mapping.

• Branching and Merging Strategies

  I have been tasked with coming up with a strategy for branching, merging and releasing over the next 6 months. The complication comes from the fact the we will be running multiple projects all with different code changes and different release dates but approximately the same development start dates. At present we are using VSS for code management, but are aware that it will probably cause some issues and will be migrating to TFS before new development starts. What strategies should I be employing and what things should I be considering before setting a plan down? • Arduino - AdHoc Network Setup

  I`m currently working with an arduino trying to build an adhoc network to which a device can connect to and send web request to. The problem I am currently having is that I can only set up one connection and then when that connection is terminated (client.stop()) all subsequent connections are not picked up by the server, even a curl command just sits there spinning. The first connection I start when I reset the server works fine and I am able to talk to the server; but after that, the arduino can no longer find new clients (even though it's trying with the library given). I`m using the sparkfun library for the wifly shield cloned from github, along with an Arduino Uno. My current code is based off their default example 'WiFly_AdHoc_Example' but I had to remove a few things to get the network to start up which might be the cause of this problem. EDIT: Using telnet I can successfully connect (the first time) and send commands to the arduino including one to terminate the connection (calls the client.stop() method). But when I try to reconnect though telnet, it says the connection was successful but on the arduino it's still looping thinking the client is still false. WHAT??? I know right, I'm getting mixed messages from telnet vs arduino. None of the commands work obviously since the ardunio is still looping waiting for a client that evaluates to true. I'm gonna take a look at WiFlyServer from the library I imported and see if I can dig up the problem because somehow that server.available() method isn't finding new clients. Noticing a lot of TODO's in the library code.... EDIT: So I found the reason for the problem, it was in WiFlyServer.cpp file from the sparkfun library. The code that was causing the reconnect issue was infact in the server.availible() method. Right at the top of the method, there is a check: // TODO: Ensure no active non-server client connection. if (!WiFly.serverConnectionActive) { activeClient._port = 0; } For some reason when I comment this out, I can reconnect fine and everything works as it should. I will now dive into the library and see if I can fix this, I'm not exactly sure what this is doing but it gets called when the server connection is not active and is somehow blocking subsequent connections. Does anyone have any ideas how I might get to the root of this problem without using this commenting hack? Please help, no-one has commented or answered yet! Don't you want to join in on the fun???

• .NET Form_load priority

  So, the problem is such as this: I have a method that does stuff and updates a progress bar. If I call the method after the form is fully loaded (i.e.: by assigning it to a button on the form) everything works fine. The problem is that I need the method to start working as soon as the form loads, by itself, so I would place it in the Form_Load method. The problem is that even though I call Application.DoEvents() right before calling that method from within Form_Load, the form doesn't show up until the method has completed everything. As I said, if I let the form load first and call the method from another UI element for instance, everything works fine. Thanks in advance.
