• Can't open any of my drives/devices(not USB drive)

  I can't open any of my computer drives (:c/,:d/.....) I have Windows side by side Ubuntu 13.04 in my computer and i have done (like-Shutting down Windows properly...) things as these in the notice. But it's not working.

• Should I use XNA (C#) or Java to create a basic game engine?

  My project is to design and build a game engine (in just about 3 months). I've been looking at two options for this game engine, either make it with XNA (and C#) or Java. My experience with XNA/C# is zero to none, however I have been a Java programmer for around 4 years. I've had a little play around with both but I am still not sure what would be best to use (i.e. what would turn out better with my experience). XNA is obviously for making games and I would presume making a game engine would be slightly easier in this - however that said, there are numerous libraries available in Java that could be used for a game engine (such as lwjgl). What would be my best option and ideally produce the best results out of both XNA or Java? For your information, the game engine at the moment is a 2D one and is not too advanced (although I plan to extend it in the future). Thanks in advance for all answers!

• I cannot log in after theme change

  After changing the gtk-theme in the gnome tweak took I was taken out of the session to the login screen and now I cannot log in. I can only log in using the guest account. So in the grub menu I selected the recovery mode and in the resulting menu I selected root-drop to root shell prompt. Once there I did a couple of things I've found in several pages and in the forums. 1.gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme This is what I got: (process:642):WARNING: Command line 'dbus-launch –autolunch=4438d024dd45ef7fb2d3f4ab0000000f –binary-syntax --close-stderr' exited with non-zero exit status 1: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n and nothing changes 2.gconftool-2 --type=string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme Radiance with this I was trying to change the gtk theme to the Radiance one. • Unity, Unrealistic Sphere On Inclined Plane

  So I am trying to model a ball rolling down an inclined surface in Unity based on what I am observing in real life but it is still quite off. In Unity it takes the ball about 3 seconds to travel from a place to another specified place where in real life it only takes 1 second. The ball isn't as fast to react to the incline as in real life (even though I have tried giving the ball and surface low or zero friction values) The ball does not accelerate as nearly as fast as it does in real life What do I do to give the ball more realistic behavior ? I have tried messing around with mass, physics materials, drag, and angular drag on the ball and surface but it doesn't seem to be helping.

  I've run into an issue that breaks my collisions. Here's my method: Gather Input Project Rectangle Check for intersection and ispassable Update The update method is built on object_position * seconds_passed * velocity * speed. Input changes velocity and is normalized if 1. This method works well with just one object comparison, however I pass a list or a for loop to the collision detector and velocity gets changed back to a non zero when the list hits an object that passes the test and the object can pass through. Any solutions would be much appreciated. Side note is there a more proper way to simulate movement?

• Second monitor stopped working

  After setting up 11.10 today, I seem to be having problems with my dual monitor set up. It worked without issues in Mint but today after I switched to 11.10 only one monitor seems to function. This seems a little odd to me. During setup both monitors functioned without issue, although they were mirroring each other both monitors but as soon as it booted into Unity my secondary monitor stopped working. I checked under settings-display and the second monitor doesn't seem to even be detected. On the off chance it had something to do with drivers, I upgraded the proprietary drivers to the latest version with zero success. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

• Using parameters in reports for VIsual Studio 2008

  This is my first attempt to create a Visual Studio 2008 report using parameters. I have created the dataset and the report. If I run it with a hard-coded filter on a column the report runs fine. When I change the filter to '?' I keep getting this error: No overload for method 'Fill' takes '1' argument Obviously I am missing some way to connect the parameter on the dataset to a report parameter. I have defined a report parameter using the Report/Report Parameter screen. But how does that report parameter get tied to the dataset table parameter? Is there a special naming convention for the parameter? I have Googled this a half dozen times and read the msdn documentation but the examples all seem to use a different approach (like creating a SQL query rather then a table based dataset) or entering the parameter name as "=Parameters!name.value" but I can't figure out where to do that. One msdn example suggestted I needed to create some C# code using a SetParameters() method to make the connection. Is that how it is done? If anyone can recommend a good walk-through I'd appreciate it. Edit: After more reading it appears I don't need report parameters at all. I am simply trying to add a parameter to the database query. So I would create a text box on the form, get the user's input, then apply that parameter programmatically to the fill() argument list. The report parameter on the other hand is an ad-hoc value generally entered by a user that you want to appear on the report. But there is no relationship between report parameters and query/dataset parameters. Is that correct?

  Hi, I have two WPF windows developed using the surface SDK, one that is a data entry form, and the second dispays the data in a listbox. The listbox displays the data perfectly but when I add a new record using the data entry form, the listbox is not updated until I reopen the window. Is there a way to automatically update the listbox through binding or something?   I need to fill a byte[] with a single non-zero value. How can I do this in C# without looping through each byte in the array? Update: The comments seem to have split this into two questions - Is there a Framework method to fill a byte[] that might be akin to memset What is the most efficient way to do it when we are dealing with a very large array? I totally agree that using a simple loop works just fine, as Eric and others have pointed out. The point of the question was to see if I could learn something new about C# :) I think Juliet's method for a Parallel operation should be even faster than a simple loop. Now, the problem is that when I set paint style to be FILL or FILL_AND_STROKE nothing shows up on the screen, but when I set it to be just stroke, and set stroke width, it acctually draws what it is supposed to draw. Now, I looked for solution, but nothing comes up. Can you tell me if I something missed to set in the code itself, or are there some sorts of constraints when drawing on Overlay canvases? Thanks

  I am supporting an ASP.Net 3.5 web application and users are experiencing a timeout error after 30 seconds when trying to run a report. Looking around the web it seems it's easy enough to change the timeout in the code, unfortunately I'm not able to access the code and recompile. • Calling up DockPanel-Suite's "AutoHidden" DockContent programmatically

• Tiff Analyzer

  I am writing a program to convert some data, mainly a bunch of Tiff images. Some of the Tiffs seems to have a minor problem with them. They show up fine in some viewers (Irfanview, client's old system) but not in others (Client's new system, Window's picture and fax viewer). I have manually looked at the binary data and all the tags seem ok. Can anyone recommend an app that can analyze it and tell me what, if anything, is wrong with it? Also, for clarity sake, I'm only converting the data about the images which is stored seperately in a database and copying the images, I'm not editting the images myself, so I'm pretty sure I'm not messing them up. • ASP.NET MVC Session Expiration

  We have an internal ASP.NET MVC application that requires a logon. Log on works great and does what's expected. We have a session expiration of 15 minutes. After sitting on a single page for that period of time, the user has lost the session. If they attempt to refresh the current page or browse to another, they will get a log on page. We keep their request stored so once they've logged in they can continue on to the page that they've requested. This works great. However, my issue is that on some pages there are AJAX calls. For example, they may fill out part of a form, wander off and let their session expire. When they come back, the screen is still displayed. If they simply fill in a box (which will make an AJAX call) the AJAX call will return the Logon page (inside of whatever div the AJAX should have simply returned the actual results). This looks horrible. I think that the solution is to make the page itself expire (so that when a session is terminated, they automatically are returned to the logon screen without any action by them). However, I'm wondering if there are opinions/ideas on how best to implement this specifically in regards to best practices in ASP.NET MVC.

• Layout problem: how to place something on top and bottom?

  I want create a layout, with a horizontal LinearLayout(s) on top and bottom, a ListView fill in middle. How can I define the main.xml. I tried to create a layout with horizontal LinearLayout on top, TextView on bottom, a ListView fill in middle; is ok. • Wpf Mvvm ComboBox

  Hi All, I am new in the Wpf world, so I created a couple of views and all of them have at least one ComboBox, as I am using the MvvM pattern, I get my self re-typing all the time the same line of codes to fill the Combo and to get the SelectedItem (creating properties, privates for fill and other to get). • Copy Selective Data from Database to Invoice, Based on Certain Criteria

  For starters, here is an example of a microsoft excel database I am working with: Month/Address/Name/Description/Amount January/123 Street/Fred/Painting/100 January/456 Avenue/Scott/Flooring/400 January/789 Road/Scott/Plumbing/100 February/123 Street/Fred/Flooring/600 February/246 Lane/Fred/Electrical/300 March/789 Road/Scott/Drywall/150 What I want to be able to do is selectively copy info from this databse to invoices (also excel). The invoice has three columns: Address/Description/Amount. I want to be able to automatically fill the invoices in as the database is filled in (either automatically, or if I have to actually manually run the macro to do it, that might be fine). Each name (Scott, Fred, etc.) will have their own set of 12 invoices for the year. So, e.g., I want to be able to produce a January invoice for all work done for Scott in January, showing the address, the description and the amount, line by line. So every time work on Scott's address(es) is done, the database is filled in, and i want it to "send" that information to the invoice on the next available line, filling in only the Address/Description/Amount columns from the database. Fred's invoice should fill in as any work is done on Fred's addresses. And once the month changes, the next invoice should start filling in. So first I need to filter the data by the month and the name (and there is actually one more column to filter by, but let's keep this example simpler). Then I need to list the remaining data on the invoice, but only certain cells from the rows that are now left. Help anyone?

• Make Iframe to fit 100% of container's remaining height

  I want to design a web page with a banner and a iframe. I hope the iframe can fill all the remaining page height and be resized automatically as browser resizing. Is it possible to get it done without writing Javascript code, only with CSS? I tried set height:100% on iframe, the result is quite close but the iframe tried to fill the whole page height, including the 30px height of banner div element, so I got unneccessary vertical scrollbar. It's not perfect. Update Notes: Excute me for not describing the question well, I tried CSS margin, padding attribute on DIV to occupy the whole remining height of a web page successfully, but the trick didn't work on iframe. <body> <div style="width:100%; height:30px; background-color:#cccccc;">Banner</div> <iframe src="http: //www.google.com.tw" style="width:100%; height:100%;"></iframe> </body> Any idea is appreciated.
