  • Why aren't my JQuery .ajax requests being made in parallel?

    - by Ryan Olson
I am trying to make two ajax requests in parallel using jQuery like this: var sources = ["source1", "source2"]; $(sources).each(function() { var source = this; $.ajax({ async: true, type: "POST", data: {post: "data", in: "here"}, url: "/my/url/" + source, success: function(data) { process_result(data); } }); }); I got the basic structure from this question, but my requests still aren't being made in parallel. "source1" takes a while to complete, and I can see on the server that the second request isn't made until the first is completed. As far as I can tell, I don't have any other active requests, so I don't think it's a problem with the maximum number of parallel requests for the browser. Am I missing something else here?

  • Save from viewController?

    - by fuzzygoat
I have a very small bit of data that I would like to archive from my apps view. My question is, its far easier to save this data from the viewController, but should I really be pushing it back into my model and saving it there? BTW: I also need to do a quick load of this data when the app starts up.

  • LINQ How to force query to materialize?

    - by Bobb
Say I have simple LINQ extenstion: var filtered = data.Where(i => i.Count > 0); I know that this will not evaluated unless I start to use filtered i.e. foreach(DataItem i in filtered) ... However I need to create cloned version of data and release data as soon as possible. data can be changed in other thread so I want to get immediate snapshot of it. How can I force filtered to be evaluated immediately?

  • Question about how AppFabric's cache feature can be used.

    - by Kevin Buchan
Question about how AppFabric's cache feature can be used. I apologize for asking a question that I should be able to answer from the documentation, but I have read and read and searched and cannot answer this question, which leads me to believe that I have a fundamentally flawed understanding of what AppFabric's caching capabilities are intended for. I work for a geographically disperse company. We have a particular application that was originally written as a client/server application. It’s so massive and business critical that we want to baby step converting it to a better architected solution. One of the ideas we had was to convert the app to read its data using WCF calls to a co-located web server that would cache communication with the database in the United States. The nature of the application is such that everyone will tend to be viewing the same 2000 records or so with only occasional updates and those updates will be made by a limited set of users. I was hoping that AppFabric’s cache mechanism would allow me to set up one global cache and when a user in Asia, for example, requested data that was not in the cache or was stale that the web server would read from the database in the USA, provide the data to the user, then update the cache which would propagate that data to the other web servers so that they would know not to go back to the database themselves. Can AppFabric work this way or should I just have the servers retrieve their own data from the database?

  • Click event not registering on second page.

    - by Cptcecil
    I'm using tablesorter and tablesorter.pager. Here is my code. $(document).ready(function() { $("#peopletable") .tablesorter({ widthFixed: true, widgets: ['zebra'] }) .tablesorterFilter({ filterContainer: $("#people-filter-box"), filterClearContainer: $("#people-filter-clear-button"), filterColumns: [1, 2, 3], filterCaseSensitive: false }) .tablesorterPager({ container: $("#peoplepager") }); $("#peopletable tr.data").click(function() { var personid = $(this).attr('id'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Search/GetDocumentsByPerson", data: { "id": personid }, datatype: "json", success: function(data) { var results = eval(data); $("#documentstable > tbody tr").remove(); $.each(results, function(key, item) { $("#documentstable > tbody:last").append(html); }); $("#documentstable").trigger("update"); } }); }); }); Everything works great except when I click on the next page my button click event doesn't fire. Is this a known issue with jquery tablesorter?

  • how many dojo fliteringselect can I have on a form?

    - by Grant Collins
I have a quick question How many dojo filteringselects can I have on a form? I have a form with 2 filteringselects on it, both getting data from different json datastores to populate the values. However only the first filteringselect is being populated, the other grabs no data. I am using Zend Framework and Zend_Dojo_Form to create the form elements for this. Many thanks. Ok looks like my code is broken somewhere then. The element that is failing in my form is: $location = new Zend_Dojo_Form_Element_FilteringSelect('location'); $location->setAutocomplete(true) ->setStoreId('countiesstore') ->setStoreType('dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore') ->setStoreParams(array('url' => $baseUrl.'/dojo/counties')) ->setAttrib('searchAttr', 'title') ->setRequired(true) ->removeDecorator('DtDdWrapper') ->removeDecorator('label') ->removeDecorator('HtmlTag') ->removeDecorator('Error'); When I go to http://localhost/dojo/counties I get the json file to read, but the element isn't populated with any data. Any ideas?

  • Best practice to detect iPhone app only access for web services?

    - by Gaius Parx
I am developing an iPhone app together with web services. The iPhone app will use GET or POST to retrieve data from the web services such as http://www.myserver.com/api/top10songs.json to get data for top ten songs for example. There is no user account and password for the iPhone app. What is the best practice to ensure that only my iPhone app have access to the web API http://www.myserver.com/api/top10songs.json? iPhone SDK's UIDevice uniqueueIdentifier is not sufficient as anyone can fake the device id as parameter making the API call using wget, curl or web browsers. The web services API will not be published. The data of the web services is not secret and private, I just want to prevent abuse as there are also API to write some data to the server such as usage log.

  • how to kill an older jsonp request?

    - by pfg
I have a cross-domain long polling request using getJSON with a callback that looks something like this: $.getJSON("http://long-polling.com/some.fcgi?jsoncallback=?" function(data){ if(data.items[0].rval == 1) { // update data in page } }); The problem is the request to the long-polling service might take a while to return, and another getJSON request might be made in the meantime and update the page even though it is a stale response. Req1: h**p://long-polling.com/some.fcgi at 10:00 AM Req2: h**p://long-polling.com/some.fcgi? at 10:01 AM Req1 returns and updates the data on the page 10:02 AM I want a way to invalidate the return from Req1 if Req2 has already been made. Thanks!

  • Is there an autorelease pool in class methods?

    - by mystify
I have an class method which generates an UIView, like this: + (UIImage*)imageWithFileName:(NSString*)imgFile { UIImage *img = nil; NSBundle *appBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *resourcePath = [appBundle pathForResource:imgFile ofType:nil]; if (resourcePath != nil) { NSURL *imageURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:resourcePath]; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:imageURL]; img = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; // should be autoreleased!! [data release]; } return img; } However, when I use this, the image data is NEVER freed. There is definitely a memory bug with this, although I didn't break any memory management rule I am aware of. My guess is that because this is a class method which gets called from instance methods, There is no active autorelease pool in place or it's one that only gets drained when I quit the app. Could that be right?

  • How to port C# code which uses a callback to VB.NET?

    - by Bob
I need to port the following from the ASP.NET MVC 2 sourcecode from C# to VB.NET. It's from AuthorizeAttribute.cs beginning on line 86: HttpCachePolicyBase cachePolicy = filterContext.HttpContext.Response.Cache; cachePolicy.SetProxyMaxAge(new TimeSpan(0)); cachePolicy.AddValidationCallback(CacheValidateHandler, null /* data */); where CacheValidateHandler is: private void CacheValidateHandler(HttpContext context, object data, ref HttpValidationStatus validationStatus) { validationStatus = OnCacheAuthorization(new HttpContextWrapper(context)); } The VB.NET port from http://converter.telerik.com doesn't quite work for this line: cachePolicy.AddValidationCallback(CacheValidateHandler, Nothing) ' Error where CacheValidateHandler is: Private Sub CacheValidateHandler(ByVal context As HttpContext, ByVal data As Object, _ ByRef validationStatus As HttpValidationStatus) validationStatus = OnCacheAuthorization(New HttpContextWrapper(context)) End Sub VS2008 complains that CacheValidateHandler does not specify its arguments for context, data, and validationStatus. Any ideas how to port this code?

  • Most efficient way to maintain a 'set' in SQL Server?

    - by SEVEN YEAR LIBERAL ARTS DEGREE
I have ~2 million rows or so of data, each row with an artificial PK, and two Id fields (so: PK, ID1, ID2). I have a unique constraint (and index) on ID1+ID2. I get two sorts of updates, both with a distinct ID1 per update. 100-1000 rows of all-new data (ID1 is new) 100-1000 rows of largely, but not necessarily completely overlapping data (ID1 already exists, maybe new ID1+ID2 pairs) What's the most efficient way to maintain this 'set'? Here are the options as I see them: Delete all the rows with ID1, insert all the new rows (yikes) Query all the existing rows from the set of new data ID1+ID2, only insert the new rows Insert all the new rows, ignore inserts that trigger unique constraint violations Any thoughts?

  • Javascript Shift+Enter (Firefox)

    - by Stephen MCGinley
Hi guys, Had a look and found some things on this, but nothing seems to work as I'd like it. Initially I had my solution working with internet explorer and chrome, but not firefox (which is unsatisfactory for me to not have working) What I'm looking for is a simple text area, which sends data on enter key, but creates a new line on Shift+Enter. The following is what I have function goReturn(e,str) { var e = (window.Event) ? e.which : e.keyCode; if (e.shiftKey && e=="13") { document.getElementById("wall").value = document.getElementById("wall").value+"\n"; } else if(e=="13"){ // ...continue to send data } } This sends the data on enter, but also sends the data on shift and enter (which is the problem I have). Thanks for any assistance

  • C# : Problem in creating diffrent types of columns in a gridview

    - by Royson

User should create a column of following types Text, Number, Currency, Combo Box, Check Box, Radio Button ,Date time type (should display DateTimePicker control) and Hyper Link type. After that i want to pass all rows to next screen for further processing. We can create a column of these types in a grid view but how can i store it in a data table so that i can pass it to next screen. Or should i create a column in a data table and then assign data table to grid view by gridview.DataSource = dt; but can we create a these types of columns in a data table. I am so confused!! Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks

  • Internet Explorer treating AJAX GET request as POST request?

    - by Matt Huggins
For some reason, only in IE (tried 7 & 8), jQuery is performing a POST request when it should be a GET. See below: function(...) { /* ... */ $.ajax({ type: 'GET', dataType: 'script', url: '/something/' + id, processData: false, data: 'old_id=' + oldId, success:function(data) { alert(data); } }); /* ... */ } All browsers properly GET, but IE is performing a POST. Why?

  • Update existing columns and rows within csv file using Python

    - by wilbev
So I've been attempting to use the csv module in Python to add data to existing rows and columns, but only specific columns of each row. So for examples let's say my existing csv file has the following: id, name, city, age 1, Ed,, 34 2, Pat,, 23 So basically the city of each person is missing, so I would like to update each row with that person's city. However, the writerow method only seems replace the existing data within the csv file. Changing the open file to append mode just adds the data to a new row. Is there any way to skip the existing data, and only add the city to each row? Thanks

  • Safe ASCII char to replace whitespace before storing

    - by AngryWhenHungry
My code passes a big bunch of text data to a legacy lib, which is responsible for storing it. However, it tends to remove trailing whitespace. This is a problem when I read the data back. Since I cannot change the legacy code, I thought about replacing the all spaces with some uncommon ASCII character. When I read back the text, I can replace them back. Is this a bad idea, considering that I cannot touch the legacy storage code? Which character can I use as a substitute? I was considering some char upwards of 180. There will only be spaces - no tabs or newlines - in the data. The data is alphanumeric, with special characters.

  • How to return relationships in a custom un-typed dataservice provider

    - by monkey_p
I have a custom .Net DataService and can't figure out how to return the data for relationships. The data base has 2 tables (Customer, Address). A Customer can have multiple addresses, but each address can only have on customer. I'm using Dictionary<string, object> as my data type. My question, for the following 2 urls how do i return the data. http://localhost/DataService/Customer(1)/Address http://localhost/DataService/Address(1)/Customer For the none relational queries I return a List<Dictionary<string, object>> So I imagined for the relation I should just populate the element with a either a Dictionary<string, object> for the single ones and a List<Dictionary<string, object>> for many relationships. But this just gives me a NullRefferenceException So what am I doing wrong?

  • Rails model to represent multiple fields

    - by Tristan O'Neil
I'm developing a rails project where I have one data model with multiple fields that are collection selects. I'd like to create another model to represent all of these collection select fields. So, for instance, my main data model has three collection select fields -- one for county, one for category, and one for classification. I could separate these into three separate data models, but that seems redundant since they all share the same characteristics. They have a type and a value, like a county is a county and it has a value of let's say Sonoma, just as category has a type of category and a value of let's say Winery. If you've ever used Drupal, I'm basically looking for the behavior of the taxonomy functionality. So you see my dilemma: I need to separate these fields into three separate fields but they have very similar data structures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • BackgroundWorker acting bizarrely...

    - by vdh_ant
Hi guys I'm working on some code that calls a service. This service call could fail and if it does I want the system to try again until it works or too much time has passed. I am wondering where I am going wrong as the following code doesn't seem to be working correctly... It randomly only does one to four loops... protected virtual void ProcessAsync(object data, int count) { var worker = new BackgroundWorker(); worker.DoWork += (sender, e) => { throw new InvalidOperationException("oh shiznit!"); }; worker.RunWorkerCompleted += (sender, e) => { //If an error occurs we need to tell the data about it if (e.Error != null) { count++; System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(count * 5000); if (count <= 10) { if (count % 5 == 0) this.Logger.Fatal("LOAD ERROR - The system can't load any data", e.Error); else this.Logger.Error("LOAD ERROR - The system can't load any data", e.Error); this.ProcessAsync(data, count); } } }; worker.RunWorkerAsync(); } Cheers Anthony

  • How to to dump JS array... (boommarklet?)

    - by Soulhuntre
A page on a site I use is holding some of my data hostage. Once I have logged into the site and navigated to the right page, the data I need is in the array eeData[] - it is 720 elements long (once every 2 minutes of a given day). Rather than simulate the requests to the underlying stuff json supplier and since its only once a day, I am happy to simply develop a bookmarklet to grab the data - preferably as a XML or CSV file. Any pointers to sample code or hints would help. I found a bookmarklet here that is based on this script that does part of this - but I am not up to speed on any potential JS file IO to see if it is possible to induce a file "download" of the data, or pop it opn in a new window I can copy / paste.

  • C# regularly return values from a different thread

    - by sdds
Hello, I'm very new to multithreading and lack experience. I need to compute some data in a different thread so the UI doesn't hang up, and then send the data as it is processed to a table on the main form. So, basically, the user can work with the data that is already computed, while other data is still being processed. What is the best way to achieve this? I would also be very grateful for any examples. Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle: what information can I derive from the SCN?

    - by Mark Harrison
Given an SCN (system change number), and assuming an SCN for which the data is still in the undo logs, what information about the SCN can I derive? of course, SCN_TO_TIMESTAMP() gives an approximate time the data was committed. Is there any other information I can derive? What transaction, what tables, what data were affected? etc?
