  • How to have my iPad use the 2008 server's internet connection?

    I have an iPad that is connected to the Wireless router in my network. However, this router is connected to my Win 2008 server, which in its turn is connected to the internet. The iPad is unable to connect to the public url for the exchange server on the server (www.example.com) and has erratic internet access, where Windows laptops are provided with faultless internet access, even when they are not a member of the domain. How do I solve this?

  • Same network same switch but computers can't talk "ping"to eachother [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: How does IPv4 Subnetting Work? Each computer(all 2 of them) can ping the router but can't ping each-other and firewall is off. Same default gateway, IP address very similar (just two number away at end) but the subnet mask is different between these two computers. One ends in 192 the other 224. There is a switch between them that then connects to the router. Why can't the computers ping each-other?

  • Only Macs can connect to WIFI with WPA-Personal security on.

    I have an odd issue with a Netgear WIFI router, 4 computers, 2 pc laptops with XP and 7 installed, one MacBook Pro and one older Mac mini. With security off everything can connect to the wifi. With WPA-Security on only the Macs can connect to the wifi. I've reset the Netgear router, done everything again from scratch, no deal. The PCs just can't connect.

    Could someone please explain in general terms how I'd configure a Cisco 1841 (2x ethernet ports) to route a public /29 address block (6 hosts) to my internal network. I wish to give the Cisco router one public IP and then several of my internal Windows servers will receive the other public IP addresses. Other hosts behind the router will access Internet via NAT. I'm a bit confused as I've only ever setup routers/firewalls that had a single public IP address with NAT and port forwarding to internal servers.

I would like to implement a linux solution but I think I can't get hands on without understanding - very superficially - if I can achieve such result. My pc (hostname: test) gets a 192.168.1.7 from dhcp. Its dns server is my router (192.168.1.1). How can the router relate my ip change (as soon as the lease is over) to my hostname?

  • VPN connects but no remote lan access

    I have a PPTP_ VPN setup through Windows to a Cisco (LinkSYS) router, which was working fine up until yesterday. Now I can connect, and I can ping the router however I am unable to reach any of the machines on the remote network. I've tried this from multiple PCs on Multiple networks / internet connections wuth the same results. Any ideas what may have caused this?

  • How would I isolate one netowrked PC to LAN only?

    I would like to have one of my PCs available to the rest of my home network for file sharing and VNC access, but I want to block any Internet traffic going to and from the PC. In other words, I want all local PCs I have connected to the router functioning as any normal LAN would, but when it comes to the Internet I want one particular PC to be "safe" from the Internet. My guess is that this is some sort of port blocking or some other router function, but I'm not quite sure.

  • Change ISP and MX static ip but no mail

    We have recently changed our ISP, I have changed the MX record for our domain name to point to the new external static IP address for the router on the new ISP's connexion but I am not getting any mail (though sending works). Do I just have to wait will the change propagates? I am slightly concerned because I can connect to the web email service made visible through the new router, but not actually receive email. Have I missed something?

I would like be able to create a small temp network that could broadcast that network so any other computers connected to the wifi can go to localhost/ or an internal ip address and view my server.     Hi In this scenario there is point -to point serial connection between R6 and R7 , there is router R10 whose interface F0/0 is having ip address of 10.1.1.2/24 and there is a host machine (R9) with ip address 10.1.1.1/24 which is running an application, My problem is that Application on R9 will only work when it will get its Gateway as 10.1.1.1/24 which is of router (R10) , is there any way i can make R6 and R7 transparent for R9 and R10, Or any type of routing using GRE / Route-map or any other way. First, my packets deal with many routers on way how these routers communicate with each other?, are router addresses added to my packet headers ? Second, is there a specific path router to router comminication or which conditions affect this route? Third to cross the Atlantic Ocean, are cables used or... ?

    I have a custom Joomla component and a router for building my SEF URL's for use within the site, and everything is usually shiny - internally, all of my links look and act fantastic. I recently route a controller action that sends a list of links through email, and I've noticed that my URLs are coming out.... funky - hopefully someone can tell me why. Usually, my router generates an internal link that looks like this: http://localhost/Registry/calendar/265889635/Some-Long-Boring-Event However, when I send an email and preparing the same URL through the same router I get: http://localhost/Registry/Registry/component/calendar/569555803/Some-Long-Boring-Event Has anybody run into this issue before?

I have written a WCF router which the client application calls it and the router sends the message to the Java Web Service and returns the data back to the client.     Hi, I have an RMI client/server set-up on two machines that works fine in a simple situation when the server doesn't require a client-side defned class. However, when I need to use a class defined on the client side I am unable to have the server unmarshall those classes. I suspect this is an issue with my java.rmi.server.codebase property that I pass in as argument to the client app. I followed Sun's RMI Tutorial trail and I think I have followed the steps exactly except that I don't specify a classpath argument when executing client and server because they execute in the directory right above the root package directory (however I tried that too with no effect). Other notes: 1 my server and client policy files correctly specify the path, as I've tested this setup with good and bad paths, and getting a security exception for bad path 2 this setup works if I don't use client-side defined objects, the client connects correctly to the server and the server executes. 3 when I place the client-side class on the server in the server's classpath, all executes fine.     I have installed UBUNTU 12.04 on my Athlon 64-bit Desktop (2GB Memory) in a dual-boot with Win XP. The machine is hardwired to my D-Link N router which uses a DSL Modem to access the Internet. My Home Network was established in the router via the XP machine. When I boot UBUNTU I am able to access the Internet via this set-up but I can neither access the home network nor see the three other laptop computers (wireless access) on the network. These others are running Win Vista, Win 7, and UBUNTU 10.04 (this latter accesses the home network normally). All are visible and accessible when XP is running. I would appreciate thoughts as I am seriously thinking about changing all the computers to UBUNTU but do need to be able to operate the network.

  • Making a bash script that reconnect to AP when connection lost

    I'm facing problems with WIFI on ubuntu i tried to update the system but still the same what happens is that i suddenly lose the connection with my router and when i press on the WIFI bar the system won't detect any APs i have to uncheck "enable WIFI" option ,then re check it so it work,it automatically reconnect. I'm thinking of making a bash script that detects when the pc is disconnected from the router for any reason, and when it is disconnected it disable then enable the wifi. i mean like automating resetting the connection that possible ? i guess i must use this nmcli nm wifi off nmcli nm wifi on but how can i make the script know if the PC is disconnected from the WIFI ?

    I have setup wake on lan service on my server. Everything works fine on local area network: root@server$: poweroff user@local$ wakeonlan AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF and the server wakes up. AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF is a MAC address of my server, which has IP 192.168.1.2 and hostname: example.com. It is connected to the router, which has IP 192.168.1.1 (public: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) When the server is up, I can ping: ping example.com or login via ssh: ssh [email protected] So far, so good. Now I'm able to wake the server up from local area, but how to wake the server from the remote location? I tried: user@local$ wakeonlan -i xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF, but it does not work (nothing happens;). Do I have to configure my router somehow to forward magic packets? How?

I can successfully ping my Ubuntu laptop from itself, though I don't know if that means anything. I haven't messed with iptables at all, so it currently doesn't have any rules set that would cause it to reject anything. I made a DHCP reservation for my laptop's MAC address in my router to make sure I was always using the correct IP address. Please note that I am using a "command line only" install of Ubuntu, so I can't use any GUI network config tools. The reason I want to ping it is because I am trying to run an NFS server on the laptop, yet despite correctly setting it up I cannot access the NFS volume on another computer because it isn't even visible on the network right now.
