  • request parameter is taking null value in servlets

    - by Dusk
Hi, I want to know how can I get the value of the request parameters "j_username" and "j_password"? After successfully login using form based authentication, I want my servlet to get the value of parameters "j_username" and "j_password", but I'm getting null as the value in both parameters. Could anyone please tell me how can I get the actual value of both paramters? Servlets class : package foo; import javax.servlet.http.*; import javax.servlet.*; public class RequestHandler extends HttpServlet { public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) { try { String user = request.getParameter("j_username"); String password = request.getParameter("j_password"); response.getWriter().println(user+" "+password); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } output: null null

  • Why isnt this returning the new string?

    - by Evan Kimia
I have a recursive method that reversed a string (HW assignment, has to be recursive). I did it....but its only returning the value of the string after the first pass. By analyzing the output after each pass i can see it does do its job correctly. heres my code, and the output i get below it: String s = "Hello, I love you wont you tell me your name?"; int k=0; public String reverseThisString(String s) { if(k!=s.length()) { String first =s.substring(0,k)+s.charAt(s.length()-1); String end = ""+s.substring(k, s.length()-1); k++; s=first+end; System.out.println(s); this.reverseThisString(s); } return s; } output: ?Hello, I love you wont you tell me your name

  • Inferring using Jena

    - by Mikae Combarado
InfModel infmodel = ModelFactory.createInfModel(reasoner, m); Resource vegetarian = infmodel.getResource(source + "Vegetarian"); Resource margherita = infmodel.getResource(source + "Example-Margherita"); if (infmodel.contains(margherita, RDF., vegetarian)) { System.out.println("Margherita is a memberOf Vegetarian pizza"); } The example given above is formed by formal pizza.owl. In this owl, Example-Margherita is an individual of Margherita class. So, it is already written in owl file. However, the problem is that the reasoner should infer that margherita-example should be also an vegetarian pizza. Could anyone please give an example that shows how to find an individual's possible inferred classes like in Protege ?(Protege correctly infers that Example-Margherita is a Vegetarian Pizza. However, I can't infer programmatically)

  • Throw of a die in Java

The throw of a die is a popular program in Java, public class Die { /* This program simulates rolling a die */ public static void main(String[] args) { int die; // The number on the die. die = (int)(Math.random()*6 + 1); System.out.println (die); } // end main() } // end class What I wish to do is make it repeat, 500 times. I have not been able to put this program into a loop of 500. I usually program in Python, thus I guess my Java has rusted ! Any help is most welcome !

  • SimpleDateFormat give inconsistent results

    - by Julien Gagnet
I am trying to parse a date and I am getting different results when I run the code locally/BST compare to a server in Paris/CEST. I've reproduced the issue in a the following sample. This is trying to parse the start date for the Australian Grand Prix. TimeZone tz = TimeZone.getTimeZone("AET"); DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy HH mm"); dateFormat.setTimeZone(tz); long time = dateFormat.parse("28/03/2010 17 00").getTime(); System.out.println("Time "+time); It seems like I am setting the timezone correctly on the date format and the current timezone shouldn't be affecting the code. But locally it prints 1269756000000 and in Paris 1269759600000. Any idea?

  • TreeMap not properly returning values

    - by smessing
I have the following TreeMap: TreeMap<String, Integer> distances = new TreeMap<String, Integer>(); and it contains both strings, "Face" and "Foo", with appropriate values, such that: System.out.println(distances); Yields: {Face=12, Foo=2} However, distances.get(Face) returns null, even though distances.get(Foo) properly returns 2. Previously, distances.get(Face) worked, but for some reason, it stopped working. Note I print out the map right before calling get() for both keys, so I haven't accidentally changed Face's value to null. Has anyone else every encountered this problem? Is there anything I can do? I'm having a terrible time simply trying to figure out how to debug this problem.

  • Contracts vs Exceptions

    - by devoured elysium
Let's assume I have the following code: public class MainClass { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(sumNumbers(10, 10)); } //@requires a >= 10; //@ensures \result < 0; public static int sumNumbers(int a, int b) { return a+b; } } I can make 2 things here: Use Code Contracts (in this case, what is in comments). When sumNumbers is run and a < 10, it will throw immediatly an exception (although it doesn't seem to be very descriptive): Exception in thread "main" org.jmlspecs.jmlrac.runtime.JMLInternalNormalPostconditionError: by method MainClass.sumNumbers at MainClass.sumNumbers(MainClass.java:500) at MainClass.internal$main(MainClass.java:9) at MainClass.main(MainClass.java:286) or... Throw an exception. The exception can be as descriptive as I want. I'd also to check in the end of the function to see whenever the post conditions are true or not. Which would you use here and why?

  • Convert scientific notation to decimal notation

    - by Ankur
There is a similar question on SO which suggests using NumberFormat which is what I have done. I am using the parse() method of NumberFormat. public static void main(String[] args) throws ParseException{ DecToTime dtt = new DecToTime(); dtt.decToTime("1.930000000000E+02"); } public void decToTime(String angle) throws ParseException{ DecimalFormat dform = new DecimalFormat(); //ParsePosition pp = new ParsePosition(13); Number angleAsNumber = dform.parse(angle); System.out.println(angleAsNumber); } The result I get is 1.93 I didn't really expect this to work because 1.930000000000E+02 is a pretty unusual looking number, do I have to do some string parsing first to remove the zeros? Or is there a quick and elegant way?

  • Java program strange behavior, how to fix it ?

    - by Frank
My notebook has Intel CPU, running Windows Vista. My program looks like this : public class Tool_Lib_Simple { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("123"); } } When I run it, I expect to see : "123", but the output was : "Hi NM : How are you NM ?" which was the old output from two days ago before I changed my program. If I copy this program into another project in Netbean 6.7, it will run correctly and output "123", and if I change the program name from "Tool_Lib_Simple" to something else, it will also output "123", but just not under the name of "Tool_Lib_Simple" in the current project's src directory, I've deleted the "build" directory and did re-compile, re-build, it still gives me "Hi NM : How are you NM ?" as a result, seems to me the old version of my program is saved in the hard drive or ram and got stuck there, I've programmed many years, hardly ever encounter this kind of problem, how to fix this ? I've been using Eclipse since 2.x and and IDEs in general for over 20 years (since Turbo Pascal and Turbo C in the late '80s!). (that preamble is supposed to imply, "I'm not an idiot" ... LOL :-] ) I'm trying to use the debugger in IntelliJ 9.0.1. I've resigned myself to an old standby: class hello { def main(a: Array[String]) = println("got args: " + a) } Alas, I'm unable to get even this simple Scala example to run. I'd like to eventually put a breakpoint in it, but for now just running it would be great. I have Java 1.6u20 and the Scala plug-in 0.3.473 (January 2010). The error below summarizes my experience: What possibly could I be doing wrong? Thanks
