    as per the CentOS FAQ on removing 32-bit packages present in a 64-bit install, is it safe to perform the last step: You may also want to do this: yum reinstall \* The reason is that sometimes the /usr/share/ items (shared between BOTH packages) get removed when removing the 32-bit RPM packages. on an existing installation? (i.e. where data & settings of possibly affected applications need to be preserved) rpm -Va shows a number of entries like: /sbin/ethtool: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking S.?..... /sbin/ethtool /usr/libexec/mysqld: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking S.?..... /usr/libexec/mysqld along with /usr/share entries with T flag (apparently filetime diff, seems safe) The machine is up & running fine, but may not be whenever a reboot occurs.   • iOS - when to remove subviews from UITableViewCell

    I have a UITableView which a UIImage is added as a subview to each cell of it. The images are PNG transparent.     When I add stored procedures to a linq datacontext, by default visual studio prefixes the stored procedure with the sql schema that it is in. Is there any way to stop this? In our environment, the stored procedures may be moved to other schemas over time, and we will default the schema based on the sql user used to connect. Do I have to do this manually or can I somehow turn off the schema prefixes?

    The point in removing trailing whitespace is that if everyone does it always then you end up with a diff that is minimal, ie. it consists only of code changes and not whitespace changes. However when working with other people who do not practice this, removing all trailing whitespace with your editor or a pre-commit hook results in an even worse diff. You are doing the opposite of your intention. So I am asking here if there is a tool that I can run manually before I commit that unstages lines from staging that are only changes in whitespace. Also a bonus would be to change the staged line to have trailing whitespace removed for lines that have code changes. Also a bonus would be to not do this to Markdown files (as trailing space has meaning in Markdown). I am asking here as I fully intend to write this tool if it doesn't already exist.

    Is there a way of completely removing the styling of a button in Internet Explorer? I use a css sprite for my button, and everything looks ok. But when I click the button, it moves to the top a little, it makes it look out of shape. Is there a css click state, or mousedown? I don't know what triggers that state. I know it's not a really big deal, but sometimes it's the small things that matter.

    I have a list of about 40 entries. And I frequently want to append an item to the start of the list (with id 0) and want to delete the last entry (with id 40) of the list. how do i do this the best? like: (example with 5 entries) [0] = "herp" [1] = "derp" [2] = "blah" [3] = "what" [4] = "da..." after adding "wuggah" and deleting last it should be like: [0] = "wuggah" [1] = "herp" [2] = "derp" [3] = "blah" [4] = "what" or appending one and deleting first. And I don't want to end up manually moving them one after another all of the entries to the next id.

  • Impossible to remove directory

    Evidently I've never had to delete a directory using win32 sdk before, because its apparently an impossible task. I've tried anything and everything - RemoveDirectory, SHFileOperation with FO_DELETE, etc. Currently I call CreateDirectory in one thread, start another thread, copy some files to this directory in the new thread, then delete all the files in the directory in the new thread, and then back in the original thread that created the directory, try to delete the now empty directory and it fails. The directory really and truly is empty when I try to delete it, but it makes no difference. The whole thread aspect is irrelevant I think because at one point everything was in one thread and it didn't work. I'm currently setting a SecurityAttributes structure on CreateDirectory to grant access to everyone, but it makes no difference. RemoveDirectory in the past has returned '32' on GetLastError, which I believe is Sharing violation. But even if I just try to delete the empty directory from the command line, it refuses saying, "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." until I shut down the entire application that created the directory. (Note: the directory is created in GetTempPath.)

The calls to the objects are in a Factory Pattern implementation, and the object is cached (in a static dictionary< within the Factory) as the calls can be made many thousands of times in a minute. The calls to this factory are made from both the main web application and a number of webservices, some in different assemblies/projects. When I need to update one of these DLLs, I have to recycle IIS to get the DLL released. As this has an impact on another application on the server, I wanted to know if there was a way I could release the DLL without restarting IIS?

  • Best way to remove CSS rounded-corner halo?

    I'm getting a tiny rounded corner halo effect that I'd like to get rid of. In this example, look for the effect in the red circle. I seem to recall a while back reading an article on just this problem. Anyone have a link to that article? Otherwise, any good ways to get rid of the halo? It is being caused because the dl has all four corners rounded. This allows the bottom of the dl to be rounded. The dt sits over the dl and has its top left and top right corners rounded. But there is a slight overflow of the dl curve behind the dt curve, causing the halo. My solution is to increase the border-radius of the dl so that it is hidden behind the dt corner. But it seems like a hack and adds a fair amount more CSS. I'm wondering if there is a better solution.

  • Remove a toolbar when pushing a new view

    In the iPhone maps app there's a toolbar at the bottom of the map view (it contains the Search/Directions segment control and others). When moving from the map view by clicking on a callout, the toolbar slides out with the map view, leaving the next view (a table controller) with no toolbar. I've tried to do the same thing with [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES animated:YES] in the second view controller, but this gives a strange toolbar sliding down animation, while the map view is sliding to the left. Using [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES] in viewDidLoad:animated also causes a bad effect (it makes the toolbar disappear the moment the push animation starts, leaving an ugly white space). I'm assuming the answer to this is to use a nib file, but I'd prefer to do it programatically (if possible). How can I get the toolbar to "stick" to the map view and slide out with it when I push a new view controller? Thanks.

Any idea's guys?
