  I have a table of names and addresses, which includes a postcode column. I want to strip the spaces from the postcodes and select any that match a particular pattern. I'm trying this (simplified a bit) in T-SQL on SQL Server 2005: SELECT Replace(Postcode, ' ', '') AS P FROM Contacts WHERE P LIKE 'NW101%' But I get the following error; Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Invalid column name 'P'. If I remove the WHERE clause I get a list of postcodes without spaces, which is what I want to search. How should I approach this? What am I doing wrong?

• ASP.Net MVC - which is the best approach for multi select grouping using JQuery Dialog

  This is my scenario I have an view(page) with list of items, a user could select single or multiple items from this page and click on a "Add to Group" button. Then a modal dialog(JQuery dialog) will be shown, from that he could select group, then press the add button. Which causes the items selected in the parent page is added to that particular group. So, which is the best way to pass the selected items to the modal pop-up? Though the query string ? - what happens if the no:of items selected is large, will the url support that much characters Keep the list in the parent page in a javascript variable and return the selected group from the modal pop-up? • How does one SELECT block another?

  I'm looking at output of SP_WhoIsActive on SQL Server 2005, and it's telling me one session is blocking another - fine. However they both are running a SELECT. How does one SELECT block another? Shouldn't they both be acquiring shared locks (which are compatible with one another)? Some more details: Neither session has an open transaction count - so they are stand-alone. The queries join a view with a table. They are complex queries which join lots of tables and results in 10,000 or so reads. Any insight much appreciated.

  I have a loop which basically calls this every few seconds (after the timeout): while(true){ if(finished) return; switch(select(FD_SETSIZE, &readfds, 0, 0, &tv)){ case SOCKET_ERROR : report bad stuff etc; return; default : break; } // do stuff with the incoming connection } So basically for every few seconds (which is specified by tv), it reactivates the listening. This is run on thread B (not a main thread). There are times when I want to end this acceptor loop immediately from thread A (main thread), but seems like I have to wait until the time interval finishes.. Is there a way to disrupt the select function from another thread so thread B can quit instantly?

• C socket programming: recv / select not seeing sent messages

  Hey guys, I had some questions, about socket programming for client-server using TCP/IP. I am using select() to recv(), which works fine when client send() messages to server, but not the other way around. The send() returns positive (and reasonable) numbers of bytes sent by server but I know that the nubmer of bytes "sent" really means "sent out of the socket", not "sent and was received by the client." The select() function seems to work fine. So given that, my guess is that it's the send() function that is giving me the problem. Probably the address of client in send() is not correct. But when I compared address.sin_addr.s_addrmember (it's an unsigned long int) of struct sockaddr_in from recv() and send() of server, they are identical. So I am kind of lost as to what could be wrong?

  I'm working on a stored procedure, that needs to delete specific rows based on a timestamp. Here's what I was going to use until I found out you can't include a select clause in the delete statement if they are both working on the same table. DELETE FROM product WHERE merchant_id = 2 AND product_id IN (SELECT product_id FROM product WHERE merchant_id = 1 AND timestamp_updated > 1275062558); Is there a good way to handle this within a stored procedure. Normally I would just throw the logic to build the product_id list in php, but I'm trying to have all the processing done on the data server.

• jquery / javascript for a user to select 1 of n images

  I want to display a few images (probably 5 max) and have a user click to select one. First thing I tried was radio buttons and putting the images inside labels. <input type="radio" name="BackgroundId" id="BackgroundId" value="1" /> <label for="BackgroundId"><img src="../../Content/images/thumb_1.jpg" /></label> Firefox will select the radio button when the user clicks the image, but IE doesn't. Is there a jquery plugin that will make the images clickable? Fancy-form looks like something I could use, but it isn't jquery and I've already got jquery in my project. Or can someone point me to a better way of selecting a single image?

  I have a page with a ASP.NET DropDownBox control (HTML select) that's populated with some dynamic record values. When the user selects a record the entire contents of the page is updated to reflect the selection. If a user clicks a link and leaves the page and tries to go back, it pulls up the default unselected list, and they have to reselect it again. How would be the best way to retain their selection? I currently have the page set so if the url contains PageName.aspx?recordID=5 it will select the correct dropDown option. However I'm not sure how to change the URL's query string based on the selection.

  Currently, I am doing a search function. Lets say in my database, I have this data: Keyword1 Keyword2 Keyword3 Keysomething Key and the user entered: "Key" as the keyword to search. This is my current query: Q1: SELECT * FROM data WHERE (data_string LIKE '$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key%' OR data_string LIKE '%$key') Basically, I have 2 questions: How do I sort by (order by) similarity. From above example, I should have "Key" as my first result. My current result is: Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3, Keysomething and Key My SQL query only search by the "data_string" column, what if I want to seach others column?   This is a wordpress installation, but I think the question is more of a general sql question. First off, my sql skills are not great (I don't even know if I'm following the correct format for illustrating the db).   i created a database using the command CREATE TABLE login_table2(user_name VARCHAR(32), first_name VARCHAR(32), last_name VARCHAR(32), password VARCHAR(64)); then i inserted a data using command INSERT INTO login_table2(user_name ,first_name , last_name , password ) VALUES('ramya', 'ramya', 'muthu', 'India'); the data got inserted into the table. then i inserted another set of data using command INSERT INTO login_table2(user_name ,first_name , last_name , password ) VALUES('jeyshree', 'jey', 'shree', 'India'); the data got inserted into the table too. then i gave the command SELECT first_name FROM login_table2; the command displayed all the first_ name in the table. however when i gave the command SELECT password FROM login_table2 WHERE user_name = 'ramya'; it does not fetch anything though the entry exist in the table.mention where i am going wrong.awaiting your reply.

I've read the documentation and see that the SELECT query should return a result set. This is the only query used by the application. Any ideas where I am going wrong?

  I am trying to display a list of my vbulliten threads on a non-vbulliten portion of my site. So what is the problem? Is it due to some internal security feature in vbulliten, does this system not allow you to connect to it's db if the page trying to connect to it is a non-vbulliten page?

  I have to select web link when i mouse hover to particular frame in the webpage, the button(link to next page) will be visible. WebElement mainElement = driver.findElement(By.xpath(<frame xpath >)); Actions builder = new Actions(driver); builder.moveToElement(mainElement); WebElement button1 = driver.findElement(By.xpath("//*[@id='currentSkills']/div[1]/div/a")); builder.moveToElement(button1).click().perform(); I am still unable to select the particular link when i execute, the following error am getting org.openqa.selenium.ElementNotVisibleException: Element is not currently visible and so may not be interacted with (WARNING: The server did not provide any stacktrace information) Command duration or timeout: 131 milliseconds But when i hover mouse pointer to the particular frame during AUT(just to move to particular frame without clicking anything), then test is executing sucessfully. I know this can be handled by JS. But i want to find out is there any solution within selenium webdriver Your help is much appreciated... Thanks Madan

  I'm trying to print out a html-table from db-table 'dimensions'. I only want dimensions from the selected pipetype which I get from a dropdownbox. For now I just put in "Steel" manually. Steel has pipe_id = 2 in db-table 'pipes'. I've run the first query in my db-tool and it returns 2 so there's nothing wrong there. The second query returns nothing. But when I manually set $wq = 2 (which I comment out below) it prints out the html-table perfectly. SELECT DISTINCT countryName FROM countries AS Country INNER JOIN countries_networks AS n ON Country.id = n.country_id WHERE n.network_id IN (6,7) This is fine, but I then want to retrieve the countries with a network_id of JUST 8, and no others. I'ver tried the following but its still returning networks with 6 & 7 in. Is it something to do with my JOIN?
