The whitepapers of Windows Azure Platform say something like that: In its first release, the maximum size of a single database in SQL Azure Database is 10 gigabytes A few things are omitted in the technology’s first release, however, such as the SQL Common Language Runtime (CLR) and support for spatial data. (Microsoft says that both will be available in a future version.) I want to know that Microsoft had updated Windows Azure Platform and removed these limits or not? • jquery validation of controls

  Hi , I am looking at validation of some text boxes for somethings like required, minlength, max length, email etc... I am able to get examples that work fine on submit button on page. I want to do this validation on a button click which will only raise a ajax request and not submit of page. On internet all the sample is found was with submit button. Is there a easy way to change this code a little bit o make it work for non submit button click or any new jquery or java plugin to do the same. I am using the jquery.validation.js for now. This works with submit buttons. Any kind of help with suggestion or help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• problem with Chrome form handling: input onfocus="this.select()"

  I'm using the following HTML code to autoselect some text in a form field when a user clicks on the field: input onfocus="this.select()" type="text" value="Search" This works fine in Firefox and Internet Explorer (the purpose being to use the default text to describe the field to the user, but highlight it so that on click they can just start typing), but I'm having trouble getting it to work in Chrome. When I click the form field in Chrome the text is highlighted for just a split second and then the cursor jumps to the end of the default text and the highlighting goes away. Any ideas on how to get this working in Chrome as well?

  Hi I want to calculate the broadcast address for e.g -IP 192.168.3.1 -Subnet 255.255.255.0 =192.168.3.255 in C. I know the way (doing fancy bitwise OR's between the inversed IP and Subnet), but my problem is I come from the green fields of MacOSX Cocoa programing. I looked into the source of ipcal, but wasn't able to integrate it into my code base. There must be a simple 10 line of code example somewhere on the internet, I just can't find it.   I am looking how to approach following problem: We have application that displays text with audio recorded material. We use Browser Control (Internet Explorer) in Delphi App to do this. We respond to events in Delphi code setting innerHTML for elements if we have to update the style ... Now, request is to add option to dynamically move the cursor or dynamically highlight the words spoken from the paragraph. It doesn't need to match absolutely the exact word spoken so we will have to dynamically update the content of position of highlighted word based on some timer or something (because it is not text to speach). What should be the most practical and easy approach to this kind of problem, all answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's easy to repeat the 100% mantra that I see all over the internet without considering the cost benefit analysis and when diminishing returns actually sets in. I solicit comments from persons who have actually reported code coverage on real-life, medium/large-sized projects. What percentages were you seeing? How much is too much? I really want some balance (in figures) that will help developers produce hight quality code. Is 65% coverage too low to expect? Is 80% too high?

• Running a Mongo Replica Set on Azure VM Roles

Here’s a step-by-step which gets you from 0 to fully-redundant 3-node document database in about 30 minutes (most of which will be spent waiting for VMs to fire up). First, create yourself 3 VM roles, which is the minimum number of nodes you need for high availability. You can use any OS that Mongo supports. This guide uses Windows but the only difference will be the mechanism for starting the Mongo service when the VM starts (Windows Service, daemon etc.) While the VMs are provisioning, download and install Mongo locally, so you can set up the replica set with the Mongo shell. We’ll create our replica set from scratch, doing one machine at a time (if you have a single node you want to upgrade to a replica set, it’s the same from step 3 onwards): 1. Setup Mongo Log into the first node, download mongo and unzip it to C:. Rename the folder to remove the version – so you have c:\MongoDB\bin etc. – and create a new folder for the logs, c:\MongoDB\logs. 2. Setup your data disk When you initialize a node in a replica set, Mongo pre-allocates a whole chunk of storage to use for data replication. It will use up to 5% of your data disk, so if you use a Windows VM image with a defsault 120Gb disk and host your data on C:, then Mongo will allocate 6Gb for replication. And that takes a while. Instead you can create yourself a new partition by shrinking down the C: drive in Computer Management, by say 10Gb, and then creating a new logical disk for your data from that spare 10Gb, which will be allocated as E:. Create a new folder, e:\data. 3. Start Mongo When that’s done, start a command line, point to the mongo binaries folder, install Mongo as a Windows Service, running in replica set mode, and start the service: cd c:\mongodb\bin mongod -logpath c:\mongodb\logs\mongod.log -dbpath e:\data -replSet TheReplicaSet –install net start mongodb 4. Open the ports Mongo uses port 27017 by default, so you need to allow access in the machine and in Azure. In the VM, open Windows Firewall and create a new inbound rule to allow access via port 27017. Then in the Azure Management Console for the VM role, under the Configure tab add a new rule, again to allow port 27017. 5. Initialise the replica set Start up your local mongo shell, connecting to your Azure VM, and initiate the replica set: c:\mongodb\bin\mongo sc-xyz-db1.cloudapp.net rs.initiate() This is the bit where the new node (at this point the only node) allocates its replication files, so if your data disk is large, this can take a long time (if you’re using the default C: drive with 120Gb, it may take so long that rs.initiate() never responds. If you’re sat waiting more than 20 minutes, start another instance of the mongo shell pointing to the same machine to check on it). Run rs.conf() and you should see one node configured. 6. Fix the host name for the primary – *don’t miss this one* For the first node in the replica set, Mongo on Windows doesn’t populate the full machine name. Run rs.conf() and the name of the primary is sc-xyz-db1, which isn’t accessible to the outside world. The replica set configuration needs the full DNS name of every node, so you need to manually rename it in your shell, which you can do like this: cfg = rs.conf() cfg.members[0].host = ‘sc-xyz-db1.cloudapp.net:27017’ rs.reconfig(cfg) When that returns, rs.conf() will have your full DNS name for the primary, and the other nodes will be able to connect. At this point you have a working database, so you can start adding documents, but there’s no replication yet. 7. Add more nodes For the next two VMs, follow steps 1 through to 4, which will give you a working Mongo database on each node, which you can add to the replica set from the shell with rs.add(), using the full DNS name of the new node and the port you’re using: rs.add(‘sc-xyz-db2.cloudapp.net:27017’) Run rs.status() and you’ll see your new node in STARTUP2 state, which means its initializing and replicating from the PRIMARY. Repeat for your third node: rs.add(‘sc-xyz-db3.cloudapp.net:27017’) When all nodes are finished initializing, you will have a PRIMARY and two SECONDARY nodes showing in rs.status(). Now you have high availability, so you can happily stop db1, and one of the other nodes will become the PRIMARY with no loss of data or service. Note – the process for AWS EC2 is exactly the same, but with one important difference. On the Azure Windows Server 2012 base image, the MongoDB release for 64-bit 2008R2+ works fine, but on the base 2012 AMI that release keeps failing with a UAC permission error. The standard 64-bit release is fine, but it lacks some optimizations that are in the 2008R2+ version.

  I have the following setup in Filemaker Pro 10. Table1 with: id_table1, related_names Table2 with: id_table2, name, include and a joint-table with: id_table1, id_table2 Now I want either make related_names a calculated field or write a script that sets related_names to a comma separated list of all names which are connected through the joint-table and have Table2.include = True. So for example a data set could look like: Table1 id_table1, related_names 1, "foo,bar" 2, "foo" 3, "" joint-table id_table1, id_table2 1,1 1,2 1,3 2,1 Table2 id_table2, name, include 1, foo, True 2, bar, True 3, baz, False After searching the internet for a few hours the closest I came was a calculated field with list(join-table::id_table2) which gives me a list with a all the id_table2's. But now I would need to find the appropriate records in table2 and check the include field. I hope the problem is clear. any help is highly appreciated.

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C#. And I developed a custom Forms authentication module for IIS 7.0 and I attach to w3wp.exe to debug this module. During the attach process (I just select Tools - Attach to Process, no further operation performed on the computer I am debugging -- I just wait for the attach to be completed), I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? The web server process that was being debugged has been terminated by Internet Information Services (IIS). This can be avoided by configuring Application Pool ping settings in IIS.   [Environment] Server Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 Client Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Microsoft Office 2003 Hello~ Today I received a call from one of my client and she said that she received an alert, "Ambiguous name detected: tempDDE" when attemping to open a doc from library. So I googled some and found solutions from MS and others and modified from Normal.dot to Normal1.dot. But after that, when I opened it again from library another problem happend and it is the doc contents is not loaded. When I click the link of doc, then the WIN?WORD.exe pops up but the contents of the document is not showing up (Silent). I tried some Open the doc file using Word Open Menu (Library Link) = Worked Get the url of the file and open it uing using Word Open Menu = Worked Add the url to Trusted Site = Done but not helped Any advices are welcomed. • iPhone image app not releasing memory as in instruments using imageNamed

  hi, im building iPhone app that downloads images (UIImageView) from internet and adding them to UIScrollView. This scroll view could contain 20 or more UIImageViews. Iam adding UIImages to UIImageView like this: UIImageView *newView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage: image]; Then I just scroll these images like in photo app. Problem is, when I put just 3 UIImageViews in UIScrollView everything works fine, but when I put more images, more memory is used, so that app can crash after 15 or more images. I can understand it that more images alloc more memory, but in Instruments i get allocated max 2-3 MB, but in device memory raises until it crashes. When I use simulator for OS 3.0 i can see memory rising like on device. On higher versions I dont see this memory raise, why is that?

  Some installations that run our applications can be under hefty stress on a busy day. Our clients ask us is there is a way to manage priorities in our application. For example, in a typical internet banking application, banks are interested in having the form “Transfer money” responsive, while the “Statement” page is a lot less critical. Not being able to transfer money is a direct loss for the bank, while not being able to produce a statement or something similar can be fixed with an apology. AFAIK, neither can you manage different request or session timeouts in a typical web application, it is one value for the whole of your web app. Managing message priority and expiry time is a typical feature in many middleware platforms. Something like this can be useful for a web front end as well. Do any of web servers (either java or .net) or web frameworks provide these features? How would you go about implementing it if you’d have to go for roll-your-own?

  I have had this debate with some peers off and on for a while. I am certified in the HP tools, but have been spending more and more time with VSTS Test Edition 2008. I am looking for opinions on what people think of the future of both products and how they compete. LoadRunner's strengths include its vast array of protocols supported. Unfortunately since HP took over from Mercury, they are beginning to lag behind, especially in the new internet spaces. VSTS Test, once very limited, is now quite impressive, especially in 2010. I don't know if it makes business sense, but I would love for VSTS Test to take on some additional protocols. Many of my clients would like to move away from HP and their licensing costs. Finally, I am looking for good resources for VSTS Test. I have been playing with it, but would like to see some dedicated courses/material, instead of just a part of the larger VSTS. Thanks!

• Updating GUI axes in MATLAB

  HI, I am making a GUI for a program I have created, where I need to be able to change the position of a load along a beam. I have set up the axes and the slider properly, but I am unsure how to get the axes to update, as I can't find any examples that show how to do this on the internet. At present, as I move the load, the position updates properly, but the old position stays on screen as well, which is quite annoying. Can anyone recommend any good examples that show how to do this, or does anyone have a suggestion of how to go about refreshing the axes? Regards, James

  If a mouse has other buttons in addition to the standard left/right/middle (e.g. forward/back), how can we detect those button clicks in Delphi? An example of how this is used is the Internet Explorer, where the forward/back button on the side of a Logitech or MS mouse cycles forward and back between any loaded web pages. This seems to replicate the Backspace/CTRL+Backspace on the keyboard but I tried to detect that using KeyPreview and the KeyPress event but it does not pick it up. Any idea how to detect clicks on these extended mouse buttons?

  I'm running selenium-rc 1.0.3 on a Mac OS X & Windows 7 and both seem to be giving my the annoying accept cert error in firefox. In reading the docs they say I should be able to just use the *firefox run mode and rc should take care of it for me via a proxy or something, but this appears to not work. The only solution that I was able to find on the internet was to create a skeleton profile and pass the path into the rc startup, but thats not a real option. As that doesn't solve problems of testing in IE/Chrome/Safari. Does any know of any other solution that will work. • Visual studio winform designer shows design errors as text rather than html

  All of the sudden, visual studio displays designer errors as plain html text, for example: <DIV id="div1" class="ErrorStyle" width="100%"><span style="font-weight: 600"><br>Object reference not set to an instance of an object. </span><br><a href="" instead of displaying the usual html formatted. I haven't been able to find anything similar to it on google. Before getting this problem, when I tried opening the winform designer, I would get the run/save/cancel dialog of internet explorer for a .tmp file, instead of the designer window. That went away when I found out that I had notepad assigned to the .tmp file type and removed that. Any ideas how to fix this?
