• PowerShell PSCX Read-Archive: Cannot bind parameter... problem

  I'm running across a problem I can't seem to wrap my head around using the Read-Archive cmdlet available via PowerShell Community Extensions (v2.0.3782.38614). Here is a cut down sample used to exhibit the problem I'm running into: $mainPath = "p:\temp" $dest = Join-Path $mainPath "ps\CenCodes.zip" Read-Archive -Path $dest -Format zip Running the above produces the following error: Read-Archive : Cannot bind parameter 'Path'. Cannot convert the "p:\temp\ps\CenCodes.zip" value of type "System.String" to type "Pscx.IO.PscxPathInfo".   I've never written any tests in my life, but I'd like to start writing tests for my Django projects. I've read some articles about tests and decided to try to write some tests for an extremely simple Django app or a start. • Debugging Actionmailer

  I have actionmailer set up. Emails are not being sent, and no errors. Where can I start my search to debug this? class Notifier < ActionMailer::Base default_url_options[:host] = APP_DOMAIN def email_blast(user, subject, message) subject subject from NOTIFIER_EMAIL recipients user.email sent_on Time.zone.now body :user => user.first_name + ' ' + user.last_name, :message => message end I do get a return in my log that the email was sent, just no actual email goes through. Also the reason, that this is not working is because I switched form a cluster to a solo box and some server settings were overwritten. I suspect that is probably the reason why this is not working. Anyone know what specific server settings I would have to look at ? UPDATE: ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "75.101.153.93" } I found this in my production.rb . This code was originally here when it worked. Again, I believe that there must be something missing on my server..I did a 'which sendmail' and it returned /usr/bin/sendmail , so I added this : config.action_mailer.raise_delivery_errors = false config.action_mailer.perform_deliveries = true config.action_mailer.sendmail_settings = { :location => '/usr/bin/sendmail', :arguments => '-i -t' } Redeployed, restarted the server, and tested it. No emails were sent. • Can I remove duplicating events in EventAggregator?

  Hi, I have a quite simple scenario that I cannot get to work correctly. I have 2 views, CarView and CarWindowView (childwindow) with corresponding ViewModels. In my CarView I have an EditButton that that opens CarWindowView (childwindow) where I can edit the Car object fields. My problem is that the DisplayModule method in my CarWindowView ViewModel is getting called too many times...When I push the edit button first time its getting called once, the second time its getting called twince, the third time its getting called 3 times and so fort... ! • Why isn't componentHidden called for my JPopupMenu?

  I want to be notified when my JPopupMenu is hidden — whether because an item was selected, the menu was dismissed, or setVisible(false) was called on it.   I like to find a way to handle multiple updates to a sql db (with one singe db roundtrip). I read about table-valued parameters in SQL Server 2008 http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/TableValueParameters.aspx which seems really useful. But it seems I need to create both a stored procedure and a table type to use it. Is that true? Perhaps due to security? • g++ linker can't find const member function

  I have a Point class (with integer members x and y) that has a member function withinBounds that is declared like so: bool withinBounds(const Point&, const Point&) const; and defined like this: bool Point::withinBounds(const Point& TL, const Point& BR) const { if(x < TL.getX()) return false; if(x > BR.getX()) return false; if(y < TL.getY()) return false; if(y > BR.getY()) return false; // Success return true; } and then in another file, I call withinBounds like this: Point pos = currentPlayer->getPosition(); if(pos.withinBounds(topleft, bottomright)) { // code block } This compiles fine, but it fails to link. g++ gives me this error: /home/max/Desktop/Development/YARL/yarl/src/GameData.cpp:61: undefined reference to 'yarl::utility::Point::withinBounds(yarl::utility::Point const&, yarl::utility::Point const&)' When I make the function not const, it links fine. Anyone know the reason why? The linker error looks like it's looking for a non-const version of the function, but I don't know why it would.

  I am using jquery UI's dialog widget to render a modal dialog in my web application. The problem seems to be that while in the modern browsers, the div.ui-dialog-contents has a specific height set in its style, i.e. after opening the dialog, the resulting HTML is: <div class="ui-dialog-content ui-widget-content" id="invite-friends-dialog" style="width: auto; min-height: 198px; height: 448px">...</div> while in IE8 the height style attribute is set to zero, and the resulting HTML is: <div class="ui-dialog-content ui-widget-content" id="invite-friends-dialog" style="min-height: 0px; width: auto; height: 0px">...</div> What do I need to do to get the height (and min-height) style attributes set correctly?

I have already implemented the solution using a segment tree. I have read about BIT but i can't figure out how to do a particular thing with it(which i have mentioned below) I am trying to check if brackets are balanced in a given string containing only ('s or )'s. I am using a BIT(Binary indexed tree) for solving the problem. The procedure i am following is as follows: I am taking an array of size equal to the number of characters in the string. I am assigning -1 for ) and 1 for ( to the corresponding array elements. Brackets are balanced in the string only if the following two conditions are true. The cumulative sum of the whole array is zero. Minimum cumulative sum is non negative. i.e the minimum of cumulative sums of all the prefixes of the array is non-negative. Checking condition 1 using a BIT is trivial. I am facing problem in checking condition 2.

  I am trying to create a button widget for dojox.grid. My problems are: 1) The button is only shown when I double click the grid. 2) I can't figure out how to set attributes through declarative markup. It seems that the markupFactory function is responsible for it but it doesn't set the widget's label. • On saving an new active record, in what order are the associated objects saved?

  In rails, when saving an active_record object, its associated objects will be saved as well. But has_one and has_many association have different order in saving objects. I have three simplified models: class Team < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :players has_one :coach end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end class Coach < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end I expected that when team.save is called, team should be saved before its associated coach and players. I use the following code to test these models: t = Team.new team.coach = Coach.new team.save! team.save! returns true. But in another test: t = Team.new team.players << Player.new team.save! team.save! gives the following error: > ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: > Validation failed: Players is invalid I figured out that team.save! saves objects in the following order: 1) players, 2) team, and 3) coach. This is why I got the error: When a player is saved, team doesn't yet have a id, so validates_presence_of :team_id fails in player. Can someone explain to me why objects are saved in this order? This seems not logical to me.

• If Then Else Statement Condition Being Ignored?

  I think im going mad but can some show me what im missing, it must be some stupidly simple i just cant see the wood for the trees. BOTH side of this if then else statement are being executed? Ive tried commenting out the true side and moving the condition to a seperate variable with the same result. However if i explicitly set the condition to 1=0 or 1=1 then the if then statement is operating as i would expect. i.e. only executing one side of the equation... The only time ive seen this sort of thing is when the compiler has crashed and is no longer compiling (without visible indication that its not) but ive restarted studio with the same results, ive cleaned the solution, built and rebuilt with no change? please show me the stupid mistake im making using vs2005 if it matters. • drawing to a JPanel without inheritance

  Right now I'm working on a program that throws up a bunch of separate (generated at runtime) images, each in their own window. • Discussion - Allowing / blocking user access to pages (Client Side Only!) - Javascript / Jquery

  TLDR Using plain HTML / Javascript (Client Side) I want to prevent viewing of certain pages. The user will have to type a username and password and depending on that they get access to different pages. Answers can NOT include server side whatsoever It does not matter if they can break it easily. There is no sensitive information etc. Also the target audience will not have access to internet OR probably know what a cookie is... At some point the user will have to type username / password.(I can define the cookie here) Currently I thought of using cookies to set a cookie for each page to say "true" / "false" but that would get messy with so many cookies. Or setting an array within a cookie for each page? I have div field "#Content" which as it looks encompasses all of my content on the page so blocking out content will be as simple as replacing it with ("sorry you don't have access") etc. For Example: $.cookie("Access","page1, page2, page3"{ expires: 1 }); I am looking for anyway to do this does not have to be with cookies. Would be nice to get a discussion of different ways this can be done. So the question is: What do YOU think would be a good way to go about doing this with client side validation?

• Sharepoint NewForm adding attachments programatically

  I have a list with a custom form which contains a custom file upload control. As soon as the user selects a file and clicks upload, i want this file to go directly to the attachments list within that listitem. However, when adding the file to SPContext.Current.ListItem.Attachments on a new item, the attachment wont show up in the list after saving. If i instead use item.Update() on the new item after adding the attachment i get an error in Sharepoint, but when i then go back to the list, the item is there with its attachment. It seems like its trying to create 2 new entries at once when i save (item.Update) which results in the second of those crashing. • In Sharepoint I need to include a preview image for the screen of selecting layout for a new page.

  In Sharepoint 2007, I have created a layout. As you know when the user creates a page he chooses a layout from a listbox. When you select a different element in the listbox, there is a preview image that changes on the left. I thought this was controlled by the node PublishingPreviewImage in the xml of the layout. I have verified that the image exists in that place. It is not working. • Interface vs Abstract Class (general OO)

  Hi, I have had recently two telephone interviews where I've been asked about the differences between an Interface and an Abstract class. I have explained every aspect of them I could think of, but it seems they are waiting for me to mention something specific, and I dont know what it is. From my experience I think the following is true, if i am missing a major point please let me know: Interface: Every single Method declared in an Interface will have to be implemented in the subclass. Only Events, Delegates, Properties (C#) and Methods can exist in a Interface. A class can implement multiple Interfaces. Abstract Class Only Abstract methods have to be implemented by the subclass. An Abstract class can have normal methods with implementations. Abstract class can also have class variables beside Events, Delegates, Properties and Methods. A class can only implement one abstract class only due non-existence of Multi-inheritance in C#. 1) After all that the interviewer came up with the question What if you had an Abstract class with only abstract methods, how would that be different from an interface? I didnt know the answer but I think its the inheritance as mentioned above right? 2) An another interviewer asked me what if you had a Public variable inside the interface, how would that be different than in Abstract Class? I insisted you can't have a public variable inside an interface. I didn't know what he wanted to hear but he wasn't satisfied either. • Help with Struts Action mapping

  I am having a problem with my struts application it is a class enrollment app and when the user clicks on a "show enrolled courses" button it is supposed to show the courses they are enrolled in but it shows nothing at the moment. Struts/Apache does not return any errors, it Just shows a blank page and I cannot figure out why. • Javascript: "Dangling" Reference to DOM element?

  It seems that in Javascript, if you have a reference to some DOM element, and then modify the DOM by adding additional elements to document.body, your DOM reference becomes invalidated. Consider the following code: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> function work() { var foo = document.getElementById("foo"); alert(foo == document.getElementById("foo")); document.body.innerHTML += "<div>blah blah</div>"; alert(foo == document.getElementById("foo")); } </script> </head> <body> <div id = "foo" onclick='work()'>Foo</div> </body> </html> When you click on the DIV, this alerts "true", and then "false." So in other words, after modifying document.body, the reference to the DIV element is no longer valid. This behavior is the same on Firefox and MSIE. Some questions: Why does this occur? Is this behavior specified by the ECMAScript standard, or is this a browser-specific issue? Note: there's another question posted on stackoverflow that seems to be referring to the same issue, but neither the question nor the answers are very clear.

• Programmatically change an EditorGrid's cell value

  Hi, I have an Editor Grid where if a specific cell is in focus (is being edited), a window containing a tree panel pops up allowing the user to choose a node from the treepanel as the new value of the cell. This way, the user isn't actually editing the cell in question, but is using the window to choose the new value. However, I am having difficulties setting the value of the cell in question programmatically.
