  • How to get distinct results in hibernate with joins and row-based limiting?

    - by Daniel Alexiuc
I'm trying to implement paging using row-based limiting (for example: setFirstResult(5) and setMaxResults(10)) on a Hibernate Criteria query that has joins to other tables. Understandably, data is getting cut off randomly; and the reason for that is explained here. As a solution, the page suggests using a "second sql select" instead of a join. How can I convert my existing criteria query (which has joins using createAlias()) to use a nested select instead?

  • Auto-creating User details with Grails and LDAP

    - by Benny Hallett
I'm using the Acegi Security plugin for Grails, and authentication via LDAP. The application logs show that on login, we can authenticate the user and get their roles via LDAP, but the login fails because the User Details cannot be found in the application's database. Is there a way to auto create and save a basic User Details domain object if one doesn't already exit?

  • android get duration from maps.google.com directions

    - by urobo
    At the moment I am using this code to inquire google maps for directions from an address to another one, then I simply draw it on a mapview from its GeometryCollection. But yet this isn't enough I need also to extract the total expected duration from the kml. can someone give a little sample code to help me? thanks StringBuilder urlString = new StringBuilder(); urlString.append("http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en"); urlString.append("&saddr=");//from urlString.append( Double.toString((double)src.getLatitudeE6()/1.0E6 )); urlString.append(","); urlString.append( Double.toString((double)src.getLongitudeE6()/1.0E6 )); urlString.append("&daddr=");//to urlString.append( Double.toString((double)dest.getLatitudeE6()/1.0E6 )); urlString.append(","); urlString.append( Double.toString((double)dest.getLongitudeE6()/1.0E6 )); urlString.append("&ie=UTF8&0&om=0&output=kml"); //Log.d("xxx","URL="+urlString.toString()); // get the kml (XML) doc. And parse it to get the coordinates(direction route). Document doc = null; HttpURLConnection urlConnection= null; URL url = null; try { url = new URL(urlString.toString()); urlConnection=(HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection(); urlConnection.setRequestMethod("GET"); urlConnection.setDoOutput(true); urlConnection.setDoInput(true); urlConnection.connect(); dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); doc = db.parse(urlConnection.getInputStream()); if(doc.getElementsByTagName("GeometryCollection").getLength()>0) { //String path = doc.getElementsByTagName("GeometryCollection").item(0).getFirstChild().getFirstChild().getNodeName(); String path = doc.getElementsByTagName("GeometryCollection").item(0).getFirstChild().getFirstChild().getFirstChild().getNodeValue() ; //Log.d("xxx","path="+ path); String[] pairs = path.split(" "); String[] lngLat = pairs[0].split(","); // lngLat[0]=longitude lngLat[1]=latitude lngLat[2]=height // src GeoPoint startGP = new GeoPoint((int)(Double.parseDouble(lngLat[1])*1E6),(int)(Double.parseDouble(lngLat[0])*1E6)); mMapView01.getOverlays().add(new MyOverLay(startGP,startGP,1)); GeoPoint gp1; GeoPoint gp2 = startGP; for(int i=1;i<pairs.length;i++) // the last one would be crash { lngLat = pairs[i].split(","); gp1 = gp2; // watch out!   • Coding Conventions - Naming Enums

    - by Walter White
Hi all, Is there a document describing how to name enumerations? My preference is that an enum is a type. So, for instance, you have an enum Fruit{Apple,Orange,Banana,Pear, ... } NetworkConnectionType{LAN,Data_3g,Data_4g, ... } I am opposed to naming it: FruitEnum NetworkConnectionTypeEnum I understand it is easy to pick off which files are enums, but then you would also have: NetworkConnectionClass FruitClass Also, is there a good document describing the same for constants, where to declare them, etc.? • versioning fails for onetomany collection holder

    - by Alexander Vasiljev
given parent entity @Entity public class Expenditure implements Serializable { ... @OneToMany(mappedBy = "expenditure", cascade = CascadeType.ALL, orphanRemoval = true) @OrderBy() private List<ExpenditurePeriod> periods = new ArrayList<ExpenditurePeriod>(); @Version private Integer version = 0; ... } and child one @Entity public class ExpenditurePeriod implements Serializable { ... @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name="expenditure_id", nullable = false) private Expenditure expenditure; ... } While updating both parent and child in one transaction, org.hibernate.StaleObjectStateException is thrown: Row was updated or deleted by another transaction (or unsaved-value mapping was incorrect): Indeed, hibernate issues two sql updates: one changing parent properties and another changing child properties. Do you know a way to get rid of parent update changing child? The update results both in inefficiency and false positive for optimistic lock. Note, that both child and parent save their state in DB correctly. Hibernate version is 3.5.1-Final

  • Intersecting boundaries with lucene

    - by Silvio Donnini
I'm using Lucene, and I'm trying to find a way to index and retrieve documents that have a ranged property. For example I have: Document 1: Price:[30 TO 50] Document 2: Price:[45 TO 60] Document 3: Price:[60 TO 70] And I would like to search for all the documents whose ranges intersect a specific interval, in the above example, if I search for Price in [55 TO 65] I should get Document 2 and Document 3 as results. I don't think NumericRangeQueries alone would do the trick, I need to work on the index with something similar to R-trees, but are they implemented in Lucene? Also, I suppose that what I need should be a subclass of MultiTermQuery, because the query Price in [55 TO 65] has two boundaries, but I don't see anything suitable among MultiTermQuery's subclasses. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Silvio P.S. I'm using Lucene 2.9.0, but I can update to the latest release if needed.

  • How do I create a custom text field in Tapestry5 that renders some Javascript onto the page?

    - by shane87
I have been trying to create a custom textfield in tapestry which will render some javascript when it gains focus. But I have been having trouble trying to find an example of this. Here is some of the code i have started off with: package asc.components; import org.apache.tapestry5.ComponentResources; import org.apache.tapestry5.Field; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.Parameter; import org.apache.tapestry5.ioc.annotations.Inject; import org.apache.tapestry5.services.ComponentDefaultProvider; public class DahserTextField implements Field { @Parameter (defaultPrefix = "literal") private String label; @Inject private ComponentResources resources; @Inject private ComponentDefaultProvider defaultProvider; @Parameter private boolean disabled; @Parameter private boolean required; String defaultLabel(){ return defaultProvider.defaultLabel(resources); } public String getControlName() { return null; } public String getLabel() { return label; } public boolean isDisabled() { return disabled; } public boolean isRequired() { return required; } public String getClientId() { return resources.getId(); } } I have been unsure on what to do next. I do not know what to put into the .tml file. I would be grateful if anyone could help or point me in the right direction.

  • String Manipulation: Spliting Delimitted Data

    - by Milli Szabo
I need to split some info from a asterisk delimitted data. Data Format: NAME*ADRESS LINE1*ADDRESS LINE2 Rules: 1. Name should be always present 2. Address Line 1 and 2 might not be 3. There should be always three asterisks. Samples: MR JONES A ORTEGA*ADDRESS 1*ADDRESS2* Name: MR JONES A ORTEGA Address Line1: ADDRESS 1 Address Line2: ADDRESS 2 A PAUL*ADDR1** Name: A PAUL Address Line1: ADDR1 Address Line2: Not Given My algo is: 1. Iterate through the characters in the line 2. Store all chars in a temp variables until first * is found. Reject the data if no char is found before first occurence of asterisk. If some chars found, use it as the name. 3. Same as step 2 for finding address line 1 and 2 except that this won't reject the data if no char is found My algo looks ugly. The code looks uglier. Spliting using //* doesn't work either since name can be replaced with address line 1 If the data is *Address 1*Address2, split will create two indexes in the array where index 0 will have the value of Address 1 and index 2 will have the value of Address2. Where's the name. Was there a name? Any suggestion?

  • understanding this regex

    - by DarthVader
    I m trying to understand what the following does. ^([^=]+)(?:(?:\\=)(.+))?$ Any ideas? This is being used here. Obviously it s command line parser but i m trying to understand the syntax so i can actually run the program. This is from commandline-jmxclient , they have no documents on setting JMX properties but in their source code, there is such an option, so i just want to understand how i can invoke that method. Matcher m = Client.CMD_LINE_ARGS_PATTERN.matcher(command); if ((m == null) || (!m.matches())) { throw new ParseException("Failed parse of " + command, 0); } this.cmd = m.group(1); if ((m.group(2) != null) && (m.group(2).length() > 0)) this.args = m.group(2).split(","); else this.args = null;

  • Issues with reversing bit shifts that roll over the maximum byte size?

    - by Terri
I have a string of binary numbers that was originally a regular string and will return to a regular string after some bit manipulation. I'm trying to do a simple caesarian shift on the binary string, and it needs to be reversable. I've done this with this method.. public static String cShift(String ptxt, int addFactor) { String ascii = ""; for (int i = 0; i < ptxt.length(); i+=8) { int character = Integer.parseInt(ptxt.substring(i, i+8), 2); byte sum = (byte) (character + addFactor); ascii += (char)sum; } String returnToBinary = convertToBinary(ascii); return returnToBinary; } This works fine in some cases. However, I think when it rolls over being representable by one byte it's irreversable. On the test string "test!22*F ", with an addFactor of 12, the string becomes irreversible. Why is that and how can I stop it?

  • Check if BigDecimal is integer value

    - by Adamski
Can anyone recommend an efficient way of determining whether a BigDecimal is an integer value in the mathematical sense? At present I have the following code: private boolean isIntegerValue(BigDecimal bd) { boolean ret; try { bd.toBigIntegerExact(); ret = true; } catch (ArithmeticException ex) { ret = false; } return ret; } ... but would like to avoid the object creation overhead if necessary. Previously I was using bd.longValueExact() which would avoid creating an object if the BigDecimal was using its compact representation internally, but obviously would fail if the value was too big to fit into a long. Any help appreciated.

  • JVM missing Rhino

    - by Andrei
I have a project that uses the ScriptEngine to process some javascript, and worked well on my machine, but when i send the projects's jar to the server, i had discovered that the server's JVM doesn't have Rhino built-in, returning null when the code calls a new ScriptEngineManager().getEngineByName("javascript"); I went to the rhino's download page, get the most recent version, and extracted the js.jar from it, added the jar on the project, but still have the same problem.

  • Is this an example of polymorphism?

    - by computer-science-student
I'm working on a homework assignment (a project), for which one criterion is that I must make use of polymorphism in a way which noticeably improves the overall quality or functionality of my code. I made a Hash Table which looks like this: public class HashTable<E extends Hashable>{ ... } where Hashable is an interface I made that has a hash() function. I know that using generics this way improves the quality of my code, since now HashTable can work with pretty much any type I want (instead of just ints or Strings for example). But I'm not sure if it demonstrates polymorphism. I think it does, because E can be any type that implements Hashable. In other words HashTable is a class which can work with (practically) any type. But I'm not quite sure - is that polymorphism? Perhaps can I get some clarification as to what exactly polymorphism is? Thanks in advance!

  • Blob object not working properly even though the class is seralized

    - by GustlyWind
I have class which is seralized and does convert a very large amount of data object to blob to save it to database. In the same class there is decode method to convert blob to the actual object.Following is the code for encode and decode of the object. private byte[] encode(ScheduledReport schedSTDReport) { byte[] bytes = null; try { ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(schedSTDReport); oos.flush(); oos.close(); bos.close(); //byte [] data = bos.toByteArray(); //ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); //GZIPOutputStream out = new GZIPOutputStream(baos); //XMLEncoder encoder = new XMLEncoder(out); //encoder.writeObject(schedSTDReport); //encoder.close(); bytes = bos.toByteArray(); //GZIPOutputStream out = new GZIPOutputStream(bos); //out.write(bytes); //bytes = bos.toByteArray(); } catch (Exception e) { _log.error("Exception caught while encoding/zipping Scheduled STDReport", e); } decode(bytes); return bytes; } /* * Decode the report definition blob back to the * ScheduledReport object. */ private ScheduledReport decode(byte[] bytes) { ByteArrayInputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes); ScheduledReport sSTDR = null; try { ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(bais); //GZIPInputStream in = new GZIPInputStream(bais); //XMLDecoder decoder = new XMLDecoder(in); sSTDR = (ScheduledReport)ois.readObject();//decoder.readObject(); //decoder.close(); } catch (Exception e) { _log.error("IOException caught while decoding/unzipping Scheduled STDReport", e); } return sSTDR; } The problem here is whenver I change something else in this class means any other method,a new class version is created and so the new version the class is unable to decode the originally encoded blob object. The object which I am passing for encode is also seralized object but this problem exists. Any ideas thanks

  • Issues Deploying ROOT Context in Tomcat6

    - by Josh K
I'm working on getting an application deployed to the ROOT ("/") context in my Tomcat 6 instance. Here's what has been done: Defined another virtual host (domain.com) Created the respective folder (/etc/tomcat6/Catalina/domain.com) Set it to auto deploy WAR's Set appBase to CATALINA_BASE/domainapps and created respective folder Copied manager.xml from localhost to domain.com. Now I'm trying to deploy into the ROOT context by uploading a ROOT.war to CATALINA_BASE/domainapps. This isn't working. I don't get any exceptions thrown, but the stock ROOT page ("It works !") stays up. I have successfully deployed it into another context (by uploading domainapp.war and viewing at /domainapp), but not ROOT. Re-reading the Virtual Host setup it makes reference to CATALINA_HOME and CATALINA_BASE. My CATALINA_HOME is at /usr/share/tomcat6/domainapp while CATALINA_BASE is /var/lib/tomcat6. Which should I be using for what? Currently haven't touched CATALINA_HOME but will try messing with a few things there. A better question might be what is the generally accepted flow taken to setup a new Tomcat instance and deploy an application to the root context.

  • Converting a string to an integer (Android)

    - by James Rattray
I'm not 100% on how to do this so i'm asking... May seem stupid but... How do I convert a string into an integer? Background info: I have a textbox I have the user enter a number into... it then: EditText et = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry1); String hello = et.getText().toString(); gets the string 'hello' Now I want to convert it to a integer so I can get the number they typed in -will be used later on in code... Is there a way to get the edittext to a integer? -That would skip the middle man... If not, string to integer will be just fine... Thanks alot, James

  • What is the best way to iterate over a large result set in JDBC/iBatis 3?

    - by paul_sns
We're trying to iterate over a large number of rows from the database and convert those into objects. Behavior will be as follows: Result will be sorted by sequence id, a new object will be created when sequence id changes. The object created will be sent to an external service and will sometimes have to wait before sending another one (which means the next set of data will not be immediately used) We already have invested code in iBatis 3 so an iBatis solution will be the best approach for us (we've tried using RowBounds but haven't seen how it does the iteration under the hood). We'd like to balance minimizing memory usage and reducing number of DB trips. We're also open to pure JDBC approach but we'd like the solution to work on different databases. UPDATE: We need to make as few calls to DB as possible (1 call would be the ideal scenario) while also preventing the application to use too much memory. Are there any other solutions out there for this type of problem may it be pure JDBC or any other technology? Thanks and hope to hear your insights on this.

  • DataSource or ConnectionPoolDataSource for Application Server JDBC resources

    - by Vinnie
When creating JNDI JDBC connection pools in an application server, I always specified the type as javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource. I never really gave it too much thought as it always seemed natural to prefer pooled connections over non-pooled. However, in looking at some examples (specifically for Tomcat) I noticed that they specify javax.sql.DataSource. Further, it seems there are settings for maxIdle and maxWait giving the impression that these connections are pooled as well. Glassfish also allows these parameters regardless of the type of data source selected. Are javax.sql.DataSource pooled in an application server (or servlet container)? What (if any) advantages are there for choosing javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource over javax.sql.DataSource (or vice versa)?
