  Hi, I'm hand editing CNC Gcode text files and need a way to reference locations in the file and on the toolpath. I want to modify each line in the text file so that it begins with the the upper case N character followed by line numbers which increment in tens for every successive line, then a whitespace,followed by the original text file. Can I do this in vi?

  Hi, I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place. This has been stumping me for a while now Any hints would be much appreciated. Thanks !

• Isthere an equivalent in CDI(WELD) to Guice modules and Inject ?

  I like the way Guice makes it fairly straight forward to manually create your own modules each with their own bindings done in code. CDI on the other hand seems to rely more on magic rather than programmatic access to sest bindings. Am i wrong or how can one achieve the same effect with WELD. Any code sample would be appreciated...

• Updating DetailViewController from RootController

  I'm trying to create an iPad application with a similar user interface to Apple's Mail application, i.e: RootView controller (table view) on the left hand side of the split view for navigation with a multiple view hierarchy. When a table cell is selected a new table view is pushed on the left hand side The new view on the left side can update the detail view. I can accomplish both tasks BUT NOT TOGETHER. I mean I can make a multi-level table view in the RootController.(HERE you can find the working source code). Or I can make a single-level table view in the RootController which can update the detailViewController (here there is the source code:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D6L0463G). Can anyone tell me how to make a multi-level table in the RootController which can update a detailViewController?   I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor. I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool. Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?

• Textarea overflow-x when a user copy-pastes into it?

  Hi, I have a textarea with overflow-x: auto; attributed to it. It works great when a user is typing text into the box by hand. When a user copy pastes a line from a file, however, that is bigger than my textarea, the overflow-x property does not work, instead the textarea wordwraps the long line. Is there a way (maybe javascript) to make overflow-x work on copy-paste? Thanks.

  It is well known that cin is not typesafe (e.g. cin integer; and entering "fifty five" will cause it to flip out). I have seen many not-so-elegant ways to hand this, such as getlining a string and using sstream to convert it to a number, or looping with cin.fail() and clearing the stream and reentering it, etc. Is there any library or anyway to overload the inserter operator to make cin automatically typesafe?

  I have a custom portlet made for liferay and sometimes it throws an exception. Why it throws exceptions is irrelevant. How to catch exceptions thrown by portlet handler methods in order to email information about them? I know I could do try catching on every handler method but it would be a much more elegant and cleaner solution to catch the exception on a higher level and just email some information about the error. I'm using Spring Portlet MVC, so i got all spring-related niceties at hand.

How do you determine what is an acceptable response time for a DB read request? I have been using App Engine without noticing any issues with DB responsiveness. But, on the other hand, I'm not sure I would even know what to look for in that regard :)

  Hi, I need to know the signal strength of a Bluetooth connection to a remote device that I make with my Android 2.1 phone.
