• Formating with printf in using two functions

  I am trying to output a document that looks like this. http://pastebin.com/dpBAY8Sb my issue is that I cannot find how to format the output I have to have a floating poing and format the distance between columns. • Alternative to Apache’s .htaccess file for IIS?

  I'm moving a WordPress blog from Apache to IIS. It's just for a couple weeks until I get it changed out. But all I can get to is the homepage. Everything else throws errors. • How can I debug an unhandled exception in code called from a BackgroundWorker?

  I am running some import code asynchronously from a simple WinForms app using a BackgroundWorker object and its DoAsync() method. I had a problem where I didn't know that exceptions were being thrown and the thread was prematurely dying. I eventually discovered this, and now know when an exception is thrown after reading Unhandled exceptions in BackgroundWorker. However, I still have a problem while debugging. How do I debug this code? I guess I could run it in a test app that doesn't use a BackgrounWorker, but is there a way to debug this as is? If I step through the code that actually throws the exception, I just get kicked out the step-through when the exception occurs. Re-throwing the exception from the RunWorkerCompletedEventHandler naturally doesn't help much either. Any ideas!? Thanks in advance!

• Oracle XE + ODP.NET ANNOYING VIEW ERROR

Any ideas? The Application code works perfecty with any query so its not application code error but prolly some "super cool feature" from ODP.NET. Already tried to_number, to_whatever and same error always happens.

  Hello, I'm calling a WCF service through javascript and right now it's not showing any errors that might occur on the service side to the user. I have the code below and am looking for a better way to inform the user an error has occured, including the call stack and error message if possible. The service itself throws a FaultException if an error has occured. However, I want to catch that error in the javascript call and show it to the user. • Handling multiple exceptions

  Hi there, I have written a class which loads configuration objects of my application and keeps track of them so that I can easily write out changes or reload the whole configuration at once with a single method call. However, each configuration object might potentially throw an exception when doing IO, yet I do not want those errors to cancel the overall process so that the other objects are still given a chance to reload/write. Therefore I collect all exceptions which are thrown while iterating over the objects and store them in a super-exception, which is thrown after the loop, since each exception must still be handled and someone has to be notified of what exactly went wrong. However, that approach looks a bit odd to me. Someone out there with a cleaner solution? • Embed external images for use in HTML canvas?

  I'm using JavaScript to load an image into my Canvas element in Firefox. This works fine for local images, but throws a security exception for external images. Is there any way to avoid this security exception, one that does not involve my server having to act as proxy to load the image locally (because that would stress my server)? • Why does my program occasionally segfault when out of memory rather than throwing std::bad_alloc?

  I have a program that implements several heuristic search algorithms and several domains, designed to experimentally evaluate the various algorithms. The program is written in C++, built using the GNU toolchain, and run on a 64-bit Ubuntu system. When I run my experiments, I use bash's ulimit command to limit the amount of virtual memory the process can use, so that my test system does not start swapping. Certain algorithm/test instance combinations hit the memory limit I have defined. Most of the time, the program throws an std::bad_alloc exception, which is printed by the default handler, at which point the program terminates. Occasionally, rather than this happening, the program simply segfaults. Why does my program occasionally segfault when out of memory, rather than reporting an unhandled std::bad_alloc and terminating?

  Hi folks, I'm trying to mock up a fake ASP.NET Controller. I don't have any concrete controllers, so I was hoping to just mock a Controller and it will work. See how I'm trying to mock up an abstract Controller - is that allowed? Can someone help me?

• Why is Window.open()'s return type void ?

  Doing something like this is perfectly permissible in javascript: var newWindow = window.open(...) However, this does not work in the senario of GWT (I am using 1.5 I dont know about later versions), Window window = Window.open("", "", ""); Throws me a compile time error that the open is a method with a return type as void. Why should it be void ? What if i want to close my popup from the main Window ? how do I get its handle ? I will have to resort to native javascript no doubt but i was just curious so as to why this is so...

  Just wrote some nasty code that iterates over a dict or a list in Python. I have a feeling this was not the best way to go about it. The problem is that in order to iterate over a dict, this is the convention: for key in dict_object: dict_object[key] = 1 But modifying the object properties by key does not work if the same thing is done on a list: # Throws an error because the value of key is the property value, not # the list index: for key in list_object: list_object[key] = 1 The way I solved this problem was to write this nasty code: if isinstance(obj, dict): for key in obj: do_loop_contents(obj, key) elif isinstance(obj, list): for i in xrange(0, len(obj)): do_loop_contents(obj, i) def do_loop_contents(obj, key): obj[key] = 1 Is there a better way to do this?   I have a struts2 action with an @Secured({"ROLE_ADMIN"}) to secure the execute method. In the execute method i assign a message to a member variable of the action, then return SUCCESS and end up on the jsp page. On the page I retrieve the actions member variable with <sroperty. private String greeting; public String execute() throws Exception { this.greeting="Hello"; return SUCCESS; } // getters and setters for greeting ... <s:property value="greeting" /> The problem is when the secured annotation is present the jsp shows nothing for the member variable but when @Secured is removed the whole thing behaves properly and shows the message that was set into the member variable. It appears that the actual security is working ok but when enabled via the annotation the member variable (or maybe the instance of the action) is not making its way onto the value stack. I cant see any error messages.

  I get "E2511 Type parameter 'T' must be a class type" on the third class. type TSomeClass=class end; ParentParentClass<T>=class end; ParentClass<T: class> = class(ParentParentClass<T>) end; ChildClass<T: TSomeClass> = class(ParentClass<T>) end; I'm trying to write a lite Generic Array wrapper for any data type(ParentParentClass) ,but because I'm unable to free type idenitifiers( if T is TObject then Tobject(T).Free) , I created the second class, which is useful for class types, so I can free the objects. The third class is where I use my wrapper, but the compiler throws that error. How do I make it compile?

• Definitive method for sizing font in css

  Hi there, I would like to know some opinions from experienced developers on what they think the definitive way to size fonts (in a base sense). I know that working with ems is considered best but im referring to the best way to set the base font size. There is the technique of setting font to 10px using 62.5 method but i think ie has an issue with rounding which throws this out slightly (perhaps not) YUI framework uses body { font:13px/1.231 arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif; /* for IE6/7 */ *font-size:small; /* for IE Quirks Mode */ *font:x-small; } which really confuses me! Tripoli uses html { font-size:125%; } body { font-size:50%; } a list apart suggest something along the lines of : body { font-size: 16px; *font-size: 100%; } So which is the best either out of these methods or any alternatives. The best being the easiest to work with and the most reliable cross browser.

• MySQL PHP incompatibility.

  Ok maybe I've overlooked something really simple here, but I can't seem to figure this out. I'm running WAMP locally, but connecting to a remote MySQL database. The local version of PHP is the latest 5.3.0. One of the remote databases, being version 5.0.45 works fine. However, the other remote database I'm trying to connect to, which is version 5.0.22 throws the following error before dying: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected. PID=5880 in ... Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication in ... WTF? UPDATE: Reverting to PHP 5.2.* i.e. anything lower than 5.3.0 resolves the problem completely. As long as I am not running 5.3.0 I can connect to both databases. I'm not sure what the explanation is for this weirdness.

• Getting Excel add ins to modify array formula parameters; or perform 'ctrl-shift-enter'

  I am trying to make a C# Excel add in change the parameters of an array formula in-place; i.e. do the same as a user modifying an array formula and hitting ctrl-shift-enter. Setting the activeCell.FormulaArray property does not achieve this; it throws a 'You cannot change part of an array' error. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? A solution that also works in VBA would be brilliant. I've tried creating some logic that 'walks' to the perimeter of the array formula and deletes it first, but it doesn't account for adjacent array formulas and I believe this is unnecessarily drastic.
