• Software disables itself when the PC is accessed via RDP

  We have a large, specialty printer that has vendor specific software that enables its use outside of it showing up simply as a printer in the Windows Control Panel. This software recognizes when we RDP into the machine and "disconnects" the PC from the printer within its proprietary control panel. All is well when an application like TeamViewer is used to access the machine. Ostensibly, the application is helping us be safe by "enforcing" that the machine used for the printer is a walk up workstation, or so the support folks informed me. If TeamViewer etc, fixes the issue, then what is the problem? We have many headless workstations in our warehouse attached to a variety of specialty machines, all used via RDP. We want/need to keep access to the machines the same for the sanity of our production staff. The meat of the question - how, specifically, might a machine know that it is being accessed via RDP (terminal services management???) and how might this be defeated without altering an application or driver. Of note, the system being used is a Windows 7 Pro machine hooked to the printer via USB. Thanks! Nat edit Is there any combination of /admin switches, etc. that will possibly fix this? Simply putting /admin did not.

  Hi all, My rails server seems to break after installing the facebooker plugin. Any suggestions on fixing this would be great. I'm using rails 3.0.0.beta and facebooker. • How to have two UIPickerViews together in one ViewController?

  I'm trying to put 2 UIPickerViews together in one ViewController. Each UIPickerView has different data arrays. I'm using interface builder to link the pickers up. I know I'll have to use separate delegates and dataSources but I can't seem to hook everything up with interface builder correctly. • Marking multi-level nested forms as "dirty" in Rails

  I have a three-level multi-nested form in Rails. The setup is like this: Projects have many Milestones, and Milestones have many Notes. The goal is to have everything editable within the page with JavaScript, where we can add multiple new Milestones to a Project within the page, and add new Notes to new and existing Milestones. Everything works as expected, except that when I add new notes to an existing Milestone (new Milestones work fine when adding notes to them), the new notes won't save unless I edit any of the fields that actually belong to the Milestone to mark the form "dirty"/edited. Is there a way to flag the Milestone so that the new Notes that have been added will save?   I'm having a hard time undestand a couple of the methods in UIViewController, but first I'll say what I think they are meant for (ignoring interface builder because I'm not using it): -init: initialize non view-related stuff that won't need to be released in low memory situations (i.e. not objects or objects that can't be recreated easily). -loadView: create the view set the [self view] property. -viewDidLoad: Create all the other view elements -viewDidUnload: Release objects created in -viewDidLoad. didReceiveMemoryWarning: Low-memory situation, release unnecessary things such as cached data, if this view doesn't have a superview then the [super didReceiveMemoryWarning] will go on to release (unload) the view and call -viewDidUnload. -dealloc: release everything -viewWillAppear:, -viewDidAppear:, -viewWillDisappear:, -viewDidDisappear: self-explanatory, not necessary unless you want to respond (do something) to those events. I'm not sure about a couple of things. First, the Apple docs say that when -viewDidUnload is called, the view has already been released and set to nil. Will -loadView get called again to recreate the view later on? There's a few things I created in -viewDidLoad that I didn't make a ivar/property for because there is no need and it will be retained by the view (because they are subviews of it). So when the view is released, it will release those too, right? When the view is released, will it release all its subviews? Because all the objects I created in -viewDidLoad are subviews of [self view]. So if they already get released why release them again in -viewDidUnload? I can understand data that is necessary when the view is visible being loaded and unloaded in these methods, but like I asked, why release the subviews if they already get released? EDIT: After reading other questions, I think I might have got it (my 2nd question). In the situation where I just use a local variable, alloc it, make it a subview and release, it will have a retain count of 1 (from adding it as a subview), so when the view is released it is too. Now for the view elements with ivars pointing to them, I wasn't using properties because no outside class would need to access them. But now I think that that's wrong, because in this situation: // MyViewController.h @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { UILabel *myLabel; } // MyViewController.m . . . - (void)viewDidLoad { myLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 40, 10)]; [myLabel setText:@"Foobar"]; [[self view] addSubview:myLabel]; } - (void)viewDidUnload [ // equivalent of [self setMyLabel:nil]; without properties [myLabel release]; myLabel = nil; } In that situation, the label will be sent the -release message after it was deallocated because the ivar didn't retain it (because it wasn't a property). But with a property the retain count would be two: the view retaining it and the property. So then in -viewDidUnload it will get deallocated. So its best to just always use properties for these things, am I right? Or not? EDIT: I read somewhere that -viewDidLoad and -viewDidUnload are only for use with Interface Builder, that if you are doing everything programmatically you shouldn't use them. Is that right? Why?

We send a ZIP-compressed dataset containing multiple tables with a bunch of update/delete/insert using this mechanism. On the other end, a CLR sproc decompress the data and gets the dataset. • MVC SiteMap - when different nodes point to same action SiteMap.CurrentNode does not map to the correct route

  Setup: I am using ASP.NET MVC 4, with mvcSiteMapProvider to manage my menus. I have a custom menu builder that evaluates whether a node is on the current branch (ie, if the SiteMap.CurrentNode is either the CurrentNode or the CurrentNode is nested under it). The code is included below, but essentially checks the url of each node and compares it with the url of the currentnode, up through the currentnodes "family tree". The CurrentBranch is used by my custom menu builder to add a class that highlights menu items on the CurrentBranch. The Problem: My custom menu works fine, but I have found that the mvcSiteMapProvider does not seem to evaluate the url of the CurrentNode in a consistent manner: When two nodes point to the same action and are distinguished only by a parameter of the action, SiteMap.CurrentNode does not seem to use the correct route (it ignores the distinguishing parameter and defaults to the first route that that maps to the action defined in the node). Example of the Problem: In an app I have Members. A Member has a MemberStatus field that can be "Unprocessed", "Active" or "Inactive". To change the MemberStatus, I have a ProcessMemberController in an Area called Admin. The processing is done using the Process action on the ProcessMemberController. My mvcSiteMap has two nodes that BOTH map to the Process action.   Apologies for any coding ignorance, I am a beginner and am still learning! I am creating a quiz app which reads questions off a SQL database and plots them as points on a google map. As the user clicks each point, an alert dialog appears with radio buttons to answer some question. My radiobuttons are in CustomItemizedOverlay file and when I click submit, I want to be able to send the user choice back to the database, save it and return to the user if their answer is correct. My question is this, how do I pass the user choice out once the submit button has been clicked? I tried making a global variable to read what was selected to no avail. • How to maintain GridPane's fixed-size after adding elemnts dynamically

  I need to create board game that can be dynamically change. Its size can be 5x5, 6x6, 7x7 or 8x8. I am jusing JavaFX with NetBeans and Scene builder for the GUI. I tried to set them equal minimum and maximum size but it didn't help they are still getting smaller. I searched on the web but didn't realy find same problem as mine. The only similar problem to mine was found here: Dynamically add elements to a fixed-size GridPane in JavaFX But his suggestion is to use TilePane and I need to use GridPane because this is a board game and it more easier to use GridPane when I need to do tasks such as getting to cell on row = 1 and column = 2 for example. • ODI 11g – Scripting Repository Creation

  Here’s a quick post on how to create both master and work repositories in one simple dialog, its using the groovy capabilities in ODI 11g and the groovy swing builder components. So if you want more/less take the groovy script and change, its easy stuff. The groovy script odi_create_repos.groovy is here, just open it in ODI before connecting and you will be able to create both master and work repositories with ease – or check the groovy out and script your own automation – you can construct the master, work and runtime repositories, so if you are embedding ODI as your DI engine this may be very useful. When you click ‘Create Repository’ you will see the following in the log as the master repository starts to be created; ====================================================== Repository Creation Started.... ====================================================== Master Repository Creation Started.... Then the completion message followed by the work repository creation and final completion message. Master Repository Creation Completed. Work Repository Creation Started. Work Repository Creation Completed. ====================================================== Repository Creation Completed Successfully ====================================================== Script exited. If any error is hit, the script just exits and prints any error to the log. For example if I enter no passwords, I will get this error; ====================================================== Repository Creation Started.... ====================================================== Master Repository Creation Started.... ====================================================== Repository Creation Complete in Error ====================================================== oracle.odi.setup.RepositorySetupException: oracle.odi.core.security.PasswordPolicyNotMatchedException: ODI-10189: Password policy MinPasswordLength is not matched. ====================================================== Script exited.
