• STLport crash (race condition, Darwin only?)

  When I run STLport on Darwin I get a strange crash. (Haven't seen it anywhere else than on Mac, but exactly same thing crash on both i686 and PowerPC.) This is what it looks like in gdb: Program received signal EXC_BAD_ACCESS, Could not access memory. Reason: 13 at address: 0x0000000000000000 [Switching to process 21097] 0x000000010120f47c in stlp_std::__node_alloc_impl::_M_allocate () It may be some setting in STLport, I noticed that Mac.h and MacOSX.h seemed far behind on features. I also know that it it must be some type of race condition, since it doesn't occur just by calling this method (implicity called). The crash happens mainly when I push the system, running 10 simultaneous threads that do a lot of string handling. Other theories I come up with have to do with compiler flags (configure script) and g++ 4.2 bugs (seems like 4.4.3 isn't on Mac yet with Objective-C support, which I need to link with). HELP!!! :) Edit: I run unit tests, which do all sorts of things. This problem arise when I start 10 threads that push the system; and it always comes down to std::string::append which eventually boils down to _M_allocate. Since I can't even get a descent dump of the code that's causing the problem, I figure I'm doing something bad. Could it be so since it's trying to execute at instruction pointer 0x000...000? Are dynlibs built as DLLs in Windows with a jump table? Could it perhaps be that such a jump table has been overwritten for some reason? That would probably explain this behavior. (The code is huge, if I run out of other ideas, I'll post a minimum crashing sample here.)

• How do I check if output stream of a socket is closed?

The program writes me "The following message was successfully sent". It means that the NullPointerException was not thrown. So, does Java throw no exception if it tries to use a closed output stream of a socket? Is there a way to check if a socket is closed or opened?   I'm using nop commerce open source. I wanted to show the recently add products in home page. so what I did is I activated plugin Nop JCarousel in the admin panel. • Odd behaviour with PHP's in_array function.

  I have a function that checks multiple form items and returns either boolean(true) if the check passed or the name of the check that was run if it didn't pass. I built the function to run multiple checks at once, so it will return an array of these results (one result for each check that was run). When I run the function, I get this array result: Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => password [2] => birthday ) // print_r array(3) { [0]=> bool(true) [1]=> string(8) "password" [2]=> string(8) "birthday" } // var_dump The 'username' check passed and the 'password' and 'birthday' checks both failed. Then I am using simple in_array statements to determine which ones failed, like so: $results = $ani->e->vld->simulate("register.php", $checks); die(var_dump($results)); // Added after to see what array was being returned if (in_array("username", $results)) // do something if (in_array("password", $results)) // do something if (in_array("birthday", $results)) // do something The problem I'm having is that the 'username' line is still executing, even those 'username' is not in the array. It executes all three statements as if they were all true for some reason. Why is this? I thought maybe that the bool(true) was automatically causing the function to return true for every result without checking the rest of the array, but I couldn't find any documentation that would suggest that very odd functionality.

  I am storing values and date values in a record store. I have my date field set up like this: StartDate = new DateField("Start Date ", DateField.DATE); cal1 = Calendar.getInstance(); cal1.set(Calendar.YEAR, 2009); cal1.set(Calendar.MONTH, 0); cal1.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, 1); StartDate.setDate(cal1.getTime()); and I save the date as a string as follows: strStartDate = cal1.get(cal1.DAY_OF_MONTH) + "/" + (cal1.get(cal1.MONTH) + 1) + "/" + cal1.get(cal1.YEAR); String detailsToAdd = strStartDate (I have shortened the code.) Now, I want to be able to edit the date at a future stage. However, I need the code to be able to do this. So far I have: EStartDate = new DateField("Start Date ", DateField.DATE); I had to change the name of the DateField box as this was conflicting with other things. I basically need to be able to show the selected record's date attribute. I currently have the other information displayed. I just need to be able to show the correct date.   I'm attempting to perform a synchronous write/read in a demux-based client application with MINA 2.0 RC1, but it seems to get stuck. On the client side, the DemuxingProtocolCodecFactory receives the response, but after throwing in some logging, I can see that the client gets stuck on the call to readFuture.awaitUninterruptibly(). I can't for the life of me figure out why it is stuck here based upon my own code. I properly set the read operation to true on the session config, meaning that messages should be blocked. However, it seems as if the message no longer exists by time I try to read response messages synchronously. Any clues as to why this won't work for me?

• WCF Service in Azure with ClaimsIdentity over SSL

  Hello , Created a WCF service as a WebRole using Azure and a client windows application which refers to this service. The Cloud Service is refered to a certificate which is created using the "Hands On Lab" given in windows identity foundation. The Web Service is hosted in IIS and it works perfect when executed. I've created a client windows app which refers to this web service. Since WIF Claims identity is used, I have a claimsAuthorizationManager Class, and also a Policy class with set of defilned policies. The Claims is set in the web.config file. When I execute the windows app as the start up project, the app prompts for authentication, and when the account credentials are given as in the config file, it opens a new "Windows Card Space" Window and Says "Incoming Policy Failed". When I close the window the System throws and Exception The incoming policy could not be validated. For more information, please see the event log.   I'm designing the 2nd major iteration of a relational database for a franchise's CRM (with lots of refactoring) and I need help on the best database design practices for storing job invoices and invoice lines with a strong audit trail of any changes made to each invoice. Is it sensible to store an invoice's Paid or Pending status? All payments received for an invoice are stored in a Payments table (eg. Cash, Credit Card, Cheque, Bank Deposit). Is it meaningful to store a "Paid" status in the Invoices table if all the income related to a given job's invoices can be inferred from the Payments table? 2. How to keep track of invoice line item revisions? I can track revisions to an invoice by storing status changes along with the invoice total and the auditing user in an invoice revision table (see InvoiceRevisions above), but keeping track of an invoice line revision table feels hard to maintain. Thoughts? 3. Tax How should I incorporate sales tax (or 14% VAT in SA) when storing invoice data?

• Reliable strtotime() result for different languages

  There was always a strange bug in Joomla when adding new article with back-end displayed with a language other than English (for me it's Russian). The field "Finish Publishing" started to be current date instead of "Never" equivalent in Russian. For a site in php4 finally found that strtotime function returns different results for arbitrary words. For "Never" it always -1 and joomla relies on this result in the JDate implementation. But in other case it sometimes returns a valid date. For russian translation of Never (???????) it is the case, but also for single "N" it is the case, so if one decided to change the string to some other he or she would face the same issue. • Problem Activating Sharepoint Timer Job

  I have created a very simple sharepoint timer job. All i want it to do is iterate through a list and update each list item so that it triggers an existing workflow that works fine. In other words all i am trying to do is work around the limitation that workflows cannot be triggered on a scheduled basis. I have written a class that inherits from SPJobDefinition that does the work and i have a class that inherits from SPFeatureReceiver to install and activate it. I have created the feature using SPVisualdev that my coleagues have used in the past for other SP development. • Guaranteed way to find the ildasm.exe and ilasm.exe files regardless of .NET version/environment?

  Is there a way to programmatically get the FileInfo/Path of the ildasm.exe/ilasm.exe executables? I'm attempting to decompile and recompile a dll/exe file appropriately after making some alterations to it (I'm guessing PostSharp does something similar to alter the IL after the compilation). I found a blog post that pointed to: var pfDir = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolders.ProgramFiles)); var sdkDir = Path.Combine(pfDir, @"Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin"); ... However, when I ran this code the directory did not exist (mainly because my SDK version is 7.1), so on my local machine the correct path is @"Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\bin". How do I ensure I can actually find the ildasm.exe? Similarly, I found another blog post on how to get access to ilasm.exe as: string windows = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.System); string fwork = Path.Combine(windows, @"..\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727"); ... While this works, I noticed that I have Framework and Framework64, and within Framework itself I have all of the versions up to v4.0.30319 (same with Framework64). So, how do I know which one to use? Should it be based on the .NET Framework version I'm targetting? Summary: How do I appropriately guarantee to find the correct path to ildasm.exe? How do I appropriately select the correct ilasm.exe to compile?

• Display ñ on a C# .NET application

  I have a localization issue. One of my industrious coworkers has replaced all the strings throughout our application with constants that are contained in a dictionary. That dictionary gets various strings placed in it once the user selects a language (English by default, but target languages are German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Thai). For our test of this functionality, we wanted to change a button to include text which has a ñ character, which appears both in Spanish and in the Arial Unicode MS font (which we're using throughout the application). Problem is, the ñ is appearing as a square block, as if the program did not know how to display it. When I debug into that particular string being read from disk, the debugger reports that character as a square block as well. So where is the failure? I think it could be in a few places: 1) Notepad may not be unicode aware, so the ñ displayed there is not the same as what vs2008 expects, and so the program interprets the character as a square (EDIT: notepad shows the same characters as vs; ie, they both show the ñ. In the same place.). 2) vs2008 can't handle ñ. I find that very, very hard to believe. 3) The text is read in properly, but the default font for vs2008 can't display it, which is why the debugger shows a square. 4) The text is not read in properly, and I should use something other than a regular StreamReader to get strings. 5) The text is read in properly, but the default String class in C# doesn't handle ñ well. I find that very, very hard to believe. 6) The version of Arial Unicode MS I have doesn't have ñ, despite it being listed as one of the 50k characters by http://www.fileinfo.info. Anything else I could have left out? Thanks for any help!

  I would like to display a directory structure using Gtk# widgets through F#, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to translate TreeViews into F#. Say I had a directory structure that looks like this: Directory1 SubDirectory1 SubDirectory2 SubSubDirectory1 SubDirectory3 Directory2 How would I show this tree structure with Gtk# widgets using F#? EDIT: gradbot's was the answer I was hoping for with a couple of exceptions. If you use ListStore, you loose the ability to expand levels, if you instead use : let musicListStore = new Gtk.TreeStore([|typeof<String>; typeof<String>|]) you get a layout with expandable levels. Doing this, however, breaks the calls to AppendValues so you have to add some clues for the compiler to figure out which overloaded method to use: musicListStore.AppendValues (iter, [|"Fannypack" ; "Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah) (double j and haze radio edit)"|]) Note that the columns are explicitly passed as an array.   I have hosted an asp.net 2.0 site. Everyday, i am getting an error "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed" 2-3 times. Backend used is sql server 2005. the site is controlled via plesk 9.2 CP. Pooling is enabled with timeout as 120 Minutes, in IIS. Can it be the reason for this? I have not used any encryption except for the stored passwords(MD5) The error message is : " Base Exception = : Padding is invalid and cannot be removed. - Source : System.Web - TargetSite :Void ThrowError(System.Exception, System.String, System.String, Boolean)Message : Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. " & System Log (Application) says " Event code: 4009 Event message: Viewstate verification failed. Reason: The viewstate supplied failed integrity check. Event detail code: 50203 ViewStateException information: Exception message: Invalid viewstate. Port: 31235 User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) " I have hosted it in a dedicated server and not in a web farm. Will keeping a static machine key help resolve this issue? Please guide me on this.

  I've got a chunk of code where I can pass info into a MySQL command using parameters through an ODBC connection. Example code showing surname passed in using string surnameToLookFor: using (OdbcConnection DbConn = new OdbcConnection( connectToDB )) { OdbcDataAdapter cmd = new OdbcDataAdapter( "SELECT Firstname, Address, Postcode FROM customers WHERE Surname = ?", DbConn); OdbcParameter odbcParam = new OdbcParameter("surname", surnameToLookFor); cmd.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add(odbcParam); cmd.Fill(dsCustomers, "customers"); } What I'd like to know is whether I can indicate where my parameter should go more meaningfully than just having a ? to mark the position - as I could see this getting quite hard to debug if there are multiple parameters being replaced. I'd like to provide a name to the parameter in a manner something like this: SELECT Firstname, Address, Postcode FROM customers WHERE Surname = ?surname ", When I try this it just chokes.
