  Hi, Currently i'm using Zend_Cache_Backend_File for caching my project (especially responses from external web services). I was wandering if I could find some benefit in migrating the structure to Zend_Cache_Backend_Sqlite. Possible advantages are: File system is well-ordered (only 1 file in cache folder) Removing expired entries should be quicker (my assumption, since zend wouldn't need to scan internal-metadatas for expiring date of each cache) Possible disadvantages: Finding record to read (with files zend check if file exists based on filename and should be a bit quicker) in term of speed. I've tried to search a bit in internet but it seems that there are not a lot of discussion about the matter. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance.

  Consider an ASP.NET MVC application using the Salt parameter in the [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] directive. The scenario is such that the app will be used by many customers. It's not terribly desirable to have the Salt known at compile time. The current strategy is to locate the Salt value in the web.config. [ValidateAntiForgeryToken(Salt = Config.AppSalt)] //Config.AppSalt is a static property that reads the web.config. This leads to a compile-time exception suggesting that the Salt must be a const at compile time. An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type How can I modify the application to allow for a runtime loading of the Salt so that the app doesn't have to be re-salted and recompiled for each customer?   Hello all, First off, I'm posting this because when I was looking for a solution to the problem below, I could not find one on stackoverflow. So, I'm hoping to add a little bit to the knowledge base here. I need to process some files in a directory and need the files to be sorted numerically. • Convert any currency string to double

  I need to store multiple currencies in SQL server. I understand that SQL won't support all different types of currencies (unless I store it as a string, but I don't want to do that). My idea was to convert all the values from their currency format to a standard double and store that instead. Then just re-format based on the culture info when displaying. However, I have tried doing something like e.g. var cultureInfo = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US"); double plain = return Double.Parse("$20,000.00", cultureInfo); This doesn't ever seem to work it always throws a FormatException. Even removing the currency symbol and just trying to do this based on the number alone does the same thing. This is just an example I want to support pretty much any type of currency. Is there a standard way of stripping out currency and getting the value as a double?

• WPF - Pausing the UI Thread?

  I have a tab control with draggable tabs. When the mouse is released it removes the selected tab from the tabControl and adds it to its new location. My problem is that the TabControl draws itself after removing the tab, and then again when adding the tab so there is a very noticeable flicker that shows the tab behind the tab being moved. Is there a way I can pause the UI thread so the tab control does not redraw until both the Remove and the Insert operations finish? Or perhaps some other alternative way of rearranging the tab items? The Drag/Drop operation exists in a separate code file as an Attached Property

• SQL Server Multiple Joins Are Taxing The CPU

  I have a stored procedure on SQL Server 2005. It is pulling from a Table function, and has two joins. When the query is run using a load test it kills the CPU 100% across all 16 cores! I have determined that removing one of the joins makes the query run fine, but both taxes the CPU. Select SKey From dbo.tfnGetLatest(@ID) a left join [STAGING].dbo.RefSrvc b on a.LID = b.ESIID left join [STAGING].dbo.RefSrvc c on a.EID = c.ESIID Any help is appreciated, note the join is happening on the same table in a different database on the same server.

• Weird SQL Server 2005 Collation difference between varchar() and nvarchar()

  Can someone please explain this: SELECT CASE WHEN CAST('iX' AS nvarchar(20)) > CAST('-X' AS nvarchar(20)) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END, CASE WHEN CAST('iX' AS varchar(20)) > CAST('-X' AS varchar(20)) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END Results: 0 1 SELECT CASE WHEN CAST('i' AS nvarchar(20)) > CAST('-' AS nvarchar(20)) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END, CASE WHEN CAST('i' AS varchar(20)) > CAST('-' AS varchar(20)) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END Results: 1 1 On the first query, the nvarchar() result is not what I'm expecting, and yet removing the X make the nvarchar() sort happen as expected. (My original queries used the '' and N'' literal syntax to distinguish varchar() and nvarchar() rather than CAST() and got the same result.) Collation setting for the database is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

  I am just looking into using HTML Purifier to ensure that a user-inputed string (that represents the name of a person) is sanitized. I do not want to allow any html tags, script, markup etc - I just want the alpha, numeric and normal punctuation characters. The sheer number of options available for HTML Purifier is daunting and, as far as i can see, the docs do not seem to have a beggining/middle or end see: http://htmlpurifier.org/docs Is there a simple hello world tutorial online that shows how to sanitize a string removing all the bad stuff out of it.   Hi, I am working on an ASP.NET website which uses forms authentication with a custom authentication mechanism (which sets e.Authenticated programmatically on protected void Login_Authenticate(object sender, AuthenticateEventArgs e)). I have an ASP.NET sitemap. Some elements must be displayed only to logged in users. Others must be displayed only to one, unique user (ie. administrator, identified by a user name which will never change). What I want to avoid: Set a custom role provider: too much code to write for a such basic thing, Transform the existing code, for example by removing sitemap and replacing it by a code-behind solution. What I want to do: A pure code-behind solution which will let me assign roles on authenticate event. Is it possible? How? If not, is there an easy-to-do workaround?

• How do i keep my DB and lucene in sync?

  So i can have a transaction in sql. But i am sure its not a good idea to wait in the middle of a transaction for lucene to finish also i am unsure if lucene is permanently saved in the DB until i do something there. Whats the best way to keep my DB and lucene in sync? I am thinking of adding a lucene_queue in my sql db and everytime i make a change i add it into the queue (removing older queue if any) and delete it once it is done. Is this the best way? Also i am unsure how to make lucene permanently keep the changes i made and how frequent i can/should do it.

  I've been looking for a simple key/license system for our users. Its partly to stop piracy (avoid users from sharing the application around) and the other half to track the number of 'licensed users' we have. I have already read a few good suggestions on SO but I'm curious as to how people have implemented the 30 day evaluation criteria. Do you generate a key that stores the date somewhere and do a comparison each time or is it a little more complicated - deleting the file/removing the registry shouldn't deactivate. Are there any example implementations out there that can give me a head start? The irony is that our PM doesn't want to license a third-party system to do it for us. This is for a Windows Forms application.

• Perl: Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline. What?

  Hello, I am getting an error I do not understand. I am using File:find to recurse a fylesystem on windows using Activestate Perl 5.8.8 and trying to stat $File::Find::name; so I am not stat-ing a filename got from a text file scanning requiring chomp-ing or newline removing. I was unable to get file modification time, the m in: my ($dev,$ino,$mode,$nlink,$uid,$gid,$rdev,$size,$atime,$mtime,$ctime,$blksize,$blocks) = stat($File::Find::name); so trying a -s $File::Find::name give me the error: "Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline" A typical file name found is F01-01-10 Num 0-00000.pdf but I get the same error even renaming in E02.pdf Some ideas about a possible reason for this error?

• .net 4 Chart Control - Hide labels in pie chart

  Hello all. Am I going mad/blind? Probably a combination of the two. How does one go about removing the data labels from a pie chart with the new chart control in .net 4? I can get these to display as tooltips absolutely fine, but ultiamtely I'd like the labels not to be present as it looks rather busy. I've searched previous answers and seen code behind resolutions but surely there must be some sort of code infront option to turn these labels off? Apologies for being thick/blind.

• Add XSLT 2 schema to Visual Studio 2010 for intellisense

  I'd like to add the XSLT 2 schema to Visual Studio 2010 to provide intellisense. I've added the schema to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Xml\Schemas (removing the XSLT 1 schema), but to no avail. The schema seems to have been parsed by Visual Studio, as I can hover my cursor over the namespace declaration in the stylesheet (xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform") and see the comments from the new schema, however, intellisense still refers to the XSLT 1 implementation. For example the element has a warning that 'xsl:function is not yet available'. Do I need to register the schema in some way? Any suggestions welcome.

I can check it by making the example fail, giving me two red "F"s. One thing I thought was that adding spec to the SpecTask's libs was causing them to be double-defined, but removing that doesn't seem to have any effect.

• Mysqld Crashes immediately on running on Windows 7...?

  I am trying to run MySql 5.1 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have downloaded the MSI installer from the MYSql website and installed it. The installation is successful, but the service does not start. If I try to run MySql manually using the mysqld executable, it crashes immediately on running (error: mysqld.exe has stopped working). Earlier mysql was running on the machine, but I had some problem with it (wasn't executing big queries) and installed it again which somehow broke the program. I had installed it to work as a service which started giving me this isse, and now it won't work even if I don't install it as a service. I have tried removing the mysql folder and re-installing. Is there somewhere else where Mysql saves configuration info or other data? Has anyone else found this problem and solved it? How can I find out why the process is failing to run?

  Hi I was looking for a way to call the edit method directly. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)theTableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath I have all my logic for animating manipulated cells, removing from my model array etc. in this method. It is getting called when a user swipes, adds or rearranges, but I would like to call it manually/directly as a background thread changes my model. I have constructed an NSIndexPath like so: NSIndexPath *path = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:1]; I just can't figure out how to call something like: [self.tableview commitEditingStyle:UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete forRowAtIndexPath:path]; Do I need to gain access to the methods of this plain style UITableView in another way? • IIS 6.0 - ASP Error 0126 Include file not found

  Hello, I have a Win Sever 2003 running IIS 6.0 which has only my main website on it and now I am trying to setup a test website which currently is an exact duplicate of the main site. When accessing my main site everything works fine, and has done for a long time. If I access the test site (through 'test.' subdomain) I get this error: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0126' Include file not found /html/shop/asp/admin/inc/incWeeklySpecialswide3.asp, line 71 The include file '/html/asp/quickfindwithSuburbs31.asp' was not found. The file actually exists, and the paths are correct. I have enabled Parent Paths, replaced the include file path to the full path (http://foo.com/html/asp -etc.), removing the ' / ' at the start of the path and changing the code from ' include ' to ' virtual '.   I'm using the jQuery UI Widget Factory to build a jQuery plugin. My plugin binds custom events to the window... _subscribe: function() { $(window).on("dragger.started", function() { ... }); } I am wondering how to go about removing these events, when a particular instance of the plugin is destroyed. If I use... destroy: function() { $(window).off("dragger.started"); } ...then that will mess up any other instances of the plugin on the page, as it will remove all "dragger.started" events. What is the recommended way to go about destroying only those events that are associated with an instance of the plugin? Thanks (in advance) for your help.

I have become a great fan of pre-allocating objects (kudos to SO and R inferno by Patrick Burns) and would like to improve my coding habits. In lieu of this fact, I've been thinking about writing more efficient functions and have the following question. Is there any benefits in removing variables that will be overwritten at the start of the next loop, or is this just a waste of time?   Around 90% of the pages for our websites have no .Net code embedded in them yet are published as .aspx files. I want these to render as fast as possible so I'm removing as much as I can. Does the .Net page directive have an impact on performance? I am thinking about two factors; the page speed for each GET and what happens when the file changes. The CMS system re-creates each page daily and I'm wondering if this triggers the ASP.Net compilation process.

• Problem evaluating NULL in an IIF statement (Access)

  Item in the recordset rstImportData("Flat Size") is = Null With that, given the following statement: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, cstr(rstImportData("Flat Size"))) Result: Throws error 94: Invalid use of Null If I change the statement by removing the type conversion upon a false comparison: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, 0) Result: Null It returns Null as it should have the first time. It appears that I cannot do a type conversion in an IIF if the value passed in should ever be null even if it passes an IIF test, it still attempts to evaluate it at both the true and false answer. The only reason I'm using IIF like this is because I have a 25 line comparison to compare data from an Import against a matching record in a database to see if I need to append the prior to history. Any thoughts? The way data is imported there will be null dates and where the spreadsheet import is in a string format I must convert either side to the other to compare the values properly but if either side is null this exception occurs :(

• java runtime tracing library to replace system.out.println

  Have you heard of any library which would allow me to set up a tracing for specific methods at runtime? Instead of adding (and removing) lots of System.out.println in my code (and having to re-compile and re-deploy) I would like to have a magic thing which would print out a line for each call of selected method without any change in the code. This would work without re-compiling, so some kind of JVM agent (or some non-standard JVM would be needed?). Sounds like a job for aspect programming? A typical scenario would be to start an application, configure the traced methods dynamically (in a separate file or similar) and then everytime a selected method is called a line with its name (and arguments) is printed out to System.out (or some log file). Naturally one could think of tens of additional features, but this basic set would be a great tool. BTW, I use Eclipse interactive debugger too, not only the System.out tracing technique, but both have some advantages and sometimes Eclipse is not enough.
