  • How to specify a parameter as part of every web service call?

    Currently, each web service for our application has a user parameter that is added for every method. For example: @WebService public interface FooWebService { @WebMethod public Foo getFoo(@WebParam(name="alwaysHere",header=true,partName="alwaysHere") String user, @WebParam(name="fooId") Long fooId); @WebMethod public Result deletetFoo(@WebParam(name="alwaysHere",header=true,partName="alwaysHere") String user, @WebParam(name="fooId") Long fooId); // ... } There could be twenty methods in a service, each with the first parameter as user. And there could be twenty web services. We don't actually use the 'user' argument in the implementations - in fact, I don't know why it's there - but I wasn't involved in the design, and the person that put it there had a reason (I hope). Anyway, I'm trying to straighten out this Big Ball of Mud. I have already come a long way by wrapping the web services by a Spring proxy, which allows me to do some before-and-after processing in an interceptor (before there were at least 20 lines of copy-pasted boiler plate per method). I'm wondering if there's some kind of "message header" I can apply to the method or package and that can be accessed by some type of handler or something outside of each web service method.   • Who interrupts my thread?

    I understand what an InterruptedException does and why it is thrown. However in my application I get it when waiting for SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait() on a thread that is only known by my application, and my application never class Thread.interrupt() on any thread, also it never passes the reference of the thread on to anyone. So my question is: Who interrupts my thread? Is there any way to tell? Is there a reason why the InterruptedException doesn't contain the name of the Thread that requests the interrupt? I read that it could be a framework or library that does this, we use the following, but I can't think of reason for them to interrupt my thread: Hibernate Spring Log4J Mysql connector

  • Automatic Hudson CI setup and plugin updates through apt?

    Hi! We've used Hudson for quite a while to implement a CI server with all the bells and whistles. The setup is quite straight forward, when installing from the provided RPMs and Debs, but through googling I haven't been able to figure out whether the plugins are installable using apt/rpm or some other package manager? The reason is that I would like to create a (meta)package for Ubuntu which would install and also update both Hudson and all the plugins through the normal upgrade mechanism. At the same time I could create a template setup for other projects, say JavaEE project needs git, cobertura and Chuck Norris plugins, while my Python project needs plugins XXX and YYY. Anybody got such a setup? As a workaround I figured setting up a number of Maven POMs, which would do the init, and later upgrades, but I feel this would require more scripting on the side, which I'm not very eager to do. Any other suggestions for this would also be appreciated.

    Hi, How can I tell e.g. Tomcat to use a specific context path when given my WAR-File? Example: I have a war file created by maven build and the resulting name of the file is rather long. So I do not want the tomcat manager application to use the filename of the war as the context. Supplying a context.xml in META-INF did not produce the desired results I also found this in the documentation for the path attribute of Context: The value of this field must not be set except when statically defining a Context in server.xml, as it will be inferred from the filenames used for either the .xml context file or the docBase. So it does not seem to be the right way to tell the application-server what the path for my WAR should be. Any more hints?

    I'm using an Axis2 client to access an external Webservice, whose WSDL starts with the following content: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!--Created by TIBCO WSDL--><wsdl:definitions xmlns:wsdl=... My call to sendReceive crashes with the following error: com.ctc.wstx.exc.WstxUnexpectedCharException: Unexpected character 'C' (code 67) in prolog; expected '<' The 'C' is the first character on the comment in the WSDL. Without that comment everything works fine, but as far as my knowledge of basic XML dictates that comment is correct. My question would be: Is this a bug in Axis2 or is the accessed WSDL malformed? Is there any way to prevent Axis2 from crashing under these circumstances?

  • Windows 7 Seems to break SWT Control.print(GC)

    A bug has been filed and fixed (super quickly) in SWT: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=305294 Just to preface this, my goal here is to print the two images into a canvas so that I can animate the canvas sliding across the screen (think iPhone), sliding the controls themselves was too CPU intensive, so this was a good alternative until I tested it on Win7. I'm open to anything that will help me solve my original problem, it doesn't have to be fixing the problem below. Does anyone know how to get "Control.print(GC)" to work with Windows 7 Aero? I have code that works just fine in Windows XP and in Windows 7, when Aero is disabled, but the command: control.print(GC) causes a non-top control to be effectively erased from the screen.     I wrote code that generate Excel file using REST JAX-RS and I confirmed that the generated Excel file is in GlassFish server directory. But my goal is when user click on the button (which generate Excel .xls), I want download popup to show up asking user whether to save or open the .xls file just like any other web services doing for downloading any type of files. According to my search, the step is: generate Excel .xls (DONE) write the excel to stream in JAX-RS file, set response header to something like, String fileName = "Blah_Report.xls"; response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); My question is I'm doing all of this in JAX-RS file and I don't have HttpServletResponse object available. According to the answer from Add Response Header to JAX-RS Webservice He says: You can inject a reference to the actual HttpServletResponse via the @Context annotation in your webservice and use addHeader() etc. to add your header. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

I clean the project all the time and I don't want to spend 5 min to rebuild the whole site every time I want to look at the test report in my browser. If I type mvn surefire-report:report-only, the generated report is too ugly and barely readable. What I'm looking for is something like ant's JUnitReport task. Is there one available out there already?

    Hello, I have this question relating to Lucene. I have a form and I get a text from it and I want to perform a full text search in several fields. Suppose I get from the input the text "textToLook". I have a Lucene Analyzer with several filters. One of them is lowerCaseFilter, so when I create the index, words will be lowercased. Imagine I want to search into two fields field1 and field2 so the lucene query would be something like this (note that 'textToLook' now is 'texttolook'): field1: texttolook* field2:texttolook* In my class I have something like this to create the query. I works when there is no wildcard. String text = "textToLook"; String[] fields = {"field1", "field2"}; //analyser is the same as the one used for indexing Analyzer analyzer = fullTextEntityManager.getSearchFactory().getAnalyzer("customAnalyzer"); MultiFieldQueryParser parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser(fields, analyzer); org.apache.lucene.search.Query queryTextoLibre = parser.parse(text); With this code the query would be: field1: texttolook field2:texttolook but If I set text to "textToLook*" I get field1: textToLook* field2:textToLook* which won't find correctly as the indexes are in lowercase. I have read in lucene website this: " Wildcard, Prefix, and Fuzzy queries are not passed through the Analyzer, which is the component that performs operations such as stemming and lowercasing" My problem cannot be solved by setting the behaviour case insensitive cause my analyzer has other fields which for examples remove some suffixes of words. I think I can solve the problem by getting how the text would be after going through the filters of my analyzer, then I could add the "*" and then I could build the Query with MultiFieldQueryParser. So in this example I woud get "textToLower" and after being passed to to these filters I could get "texttolower". After this I could make "textotolower*". But, is there any way to get the value of my text variable after going through all my analyzer's filters? How can I get all the filters of my analyzer? Is this possible? Thanks

  • Spring Security and the Synchronizer Token J2EE pattern, problem when authentication fails.

    Hey, we are using Spring Security 2.0.4. We have a TransactionTokenBean which generates a unique token each POST, the bean is session scoped. The token is used for the duplicate form submission problem (and security). The TransactionTokenBean is called from a Servlet filter. Our problem is the following, after a session timeout occured, when you do a POST in the application Spring Security redirects to the logon page, saving the original request. After logging on again the TransactionTokenBean is created again, since it is session scoped, but then Spring forwards to the originally accessed url, also sending the token that was generated at that time. Since the TransactionTokenBean is created again, the tokens do not match and our filter throws an Exception. I don't quite know how to handle this elegantly, (or for that matter, I can't even fix it with a hack), any ideas? I have created the Voter table in which I need to insert the record.   • Deleting orphans with JPA

    I have a one-to-one relation where I use CascadeType.PERSIST. This has over time build up a huge amount of child records that has not been deleted, to such an extend that it is reflected in the performance. Now I wish to add some code that cleans up the database removing all the child records that are not referenced by a parent. At the moment we are talking 400K+ records, at I need to run the code on all customer installations just to be sure they do not run into the same problem. I think the best solution would be to run a named query (because we support two databases) that deletes the necessary records, and this is where I get into problems, because how should I write it in JPQL? The result I want can be defined like the following sql statement, which unfortunaltely does not run on MySQL. DELETE FROM child c1 WHERE c1.pk NOT IN (SELECT DISTINCT p.pk FROM child c2 JOIN parent p ON p.child = c2.pk);

  • Can Hibernate default a Null String to Empty String

    In our application we are pulling data from a DB2 mainframe database. If the database has "low values" in a field, hibernate sends a "null" value in the object. This occurs even if the column is defined as "not null". As we are doing XML parsing on this, Castor is having trouble with it. I would like to fix this in Hibernate. Also, all of the hibernate hbm files are generated, so we can't mess with them (they are regened from time to time.) Any way to intercept all Strings and replace nulls with ""?

Currently, the user/password for the database connection is set in the proper J2EE application server's datasources configuration file. I want to change during runtime the datasource's user/password. (e.g.: implement a new web form in which the user is asked to enter de user/password to be used in the database connection). Is there a standard way to do that in J2EE applications or it depends on the J2EE application server? In this case I'm using Orion application server.
