  Hi, If I have a regex with a capturing group, e.g. foo(_+f). If I match this against a string and want to replace the first capturing group in all matches with baz so that foo___f blah foo________f is converted to: foobaz blah foobaz There doesn't appear to be any easy way to do this using the standard libraries. If I use Matcher.replaceAll() this will replace all matches of the entire pattern and convert the string to baz blah baz Obviously I can just iterate through the matches, store the start and end index of each capturing group, then go back and replace them, but is there an easier way? • Another memory leak question

  Hello My application keeps running for 4 to 6 hours, During this time there is no contineous increase in memory or anything similar. Then after 4 to 6 hours i start getting EOutofMemory Exceptions. Even still at that time there is only 900MB out of 3GB RAM is used as per task manager. And application itself is not using more then 200MB . Then why i am getting EOoutofMEmory error ? Does it mean that memory leak is not necessarily visible in task manager ? Regagards

• Why can't I do this from ASP.NET?

  The code below spawns the process and sits forever, never finishing. It doesn't matter what process I run. Also, if I use Shell with Wait it does the same thing. If I set wait to false in either approach it works just fine. It's ASP.NET 2.0 VB.NET DotNetNuke 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I can't even phathom why this would hang up.   I'm learning Python and decided to start familiarizing myself with the (defacto?) Python web framework - django. I have successfully installed the latest release of django. I want a simple 'hello world' website that will get me up and running quickly. I am already familiar with web frameworks (albeit for different languages) - so I just need a simple 'hello world' example website to help me get going. Ideally, I don't want to mess up with my Apache server settings (as I am still experimenting), so I want to use the lightweight web server that django bundles. I cant seem to find how to do this on the django website though - no doubt someone will post a link and shame me ... So, does anyone know of a link that shows how to get a simple 'hello world' django website up and running with minimal fuss?

• WCF. Robust big file transfer.

  Hello everybody! I want to transfer big files (1GB) over unreliable transport channels. When connection is interrupted, I don't want start file transfering from the begining. I can partially store it in a temp table and store last readed position, so when connection is reestablished I can request continue uploading of file from this position. Is there any best-practice for such kind of things. I'm currently use chunking channel. Thanks in advance.

  Hi all, I know Android cannot handle PDFs natively. However, the Nexus One (and possibly other phones) come pre-installed with QuickOffice Viewer. How would I determine whether the user has a PDF viewer installed? Currently, the code to start the PDF download looks pretty simple: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); intent.setData(Uri.parse(url)); startActivity(intent); After download, the user clicks on the downloaded file to invoke the viewer. However, if there is no PDF viewer, Android reports "Cannot download. The content is not supported on the phone." I want to determine if the user will get this message, and if so, direct them to PDF apps in the Android Market. Thanks!

  Hi I have an idea and I want to apply it to my Application (C# .NET). When we connect to a DB (MS SQL Server 2008) in VS 2008, the ConnectionString saved in the Application Setting and it's a static varriable (no one can edit it unless you edit it inside VS 2008). I want a way to let my Application search for MS SQL Server and save it to Application Setting and use it to connect to my DB Programmatically. When my application start, the first thing to do is checking the ConnectionString if vaild, NOT Empty and test connection to MS SQL Server Successfully so if there is a proplem I think to show a window form to let the user enter some data like username and password for MS SQL Server 2008 Is there any way to do it?

• How to structure opening hours of a place? May-be there's even an ontology for it?

  Does anyone know any ontology which specifies opening hours of places? For example, I have a museum, which has 2 seasons. For low season (season start and end is specified), it is opened 10.00 - 18.00 on weekdays and 10-16 on saturday (on sunday it's closed), for high season it's opened 10-20 on weekdays and 10-18 on weekend. If there is no ontology, may-be people have experience, how best to structure information like that? I'm describing information in RDF. But whatever comments are welcome (even if you have relational database which holds given data). Thanks

• JBoss - does app have to be compiled under same jdk as JBOSS is running under?

  I'm a little confused about JBOSS and running it under different JDKs. For example, let's say I'm running JBOSS 5.1, and before starting it I set my JAVA_HOME to point to JDK5. Let's also assume that my JEE application is compiled under JDK6. If I deploy the JEE app (compiled under JDK6) to JBOSS, when I try to look up my EJBs I get errors like: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: tc_test_project not bound But if I recompile my code under JDK5 and redeploy it, it works fine and is able to lookup the EJBs ok. Likewise, I can set JAVA_HOME to JDK6 and start JBOSS, and my code (compiled under JDK6) will run ok under that scenario (it's able to find the EBJs, etc.). So it seems that your JEE app needs to be compiled under the same JAVA_HOME that the JBOSS server is going to be running under, or am I misunderstanding something? Just wanted to get confirmation, thanks.

  I got function in Flash (Action Script 3) - that makes snowflakes falling. Now i want to make this snowflakes appear on screen only for 3 seconds. So I'm trying to use Timer class but i got problem: var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(3000, 1); myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, snowflakes); myTimer.start(); function snowflakes(event:TimerEvent):void { //snowflakes faling function } In this case snowflakes appear after 3 seconds and stay on the stage forver...So its kinda opposite what i wanted. I want them to appear from the very beginning then disappear after 3 second. How can I do that ?

  I have a list of tasks. A task is defined by a name, a due date and a duration. My TaskManager class handles a std::list<Task> sorted by due date. It has to provide a way to get the tasks due for a specific date. How would you implement that ? I think a good way (from API point of view) would be to provide a std::list<Task>::iterator pair. So I would have a TaskManager::begin(date) method. Do you think this method should get the iterator by iterating from the start of the list until it finds the first task due on that date, or by getting it from a std::map<date, std::list<Task>::iterator> (but then we have to keep it up-to-date when adding or removing tasks) ? And then, how could I implement the TaskManager::end(date) method ?

  Hi, I have a script and I'm almost done but I get this error and frankly I have no idea what is wrong here. I'm rather new to Javascript so I suspect I did something wrong in the syntax somewhere.   I used sharppcap to capture TCP packets. Now i wanna reconstruct HTTP packet from TCP packets but i don't know how. I read somewhere i can find start of HTTP packet in TCP data... i tried to convert byte[] TCP data to string using this code: string s = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(tcp_pack.Data); but the string isn't readable. like a binary file that is opened with notepad. is it because the data is encrypted or code is incorrect? how can i reconstruct HTTP packet from TCP packets?

• Objective C memory leaking

  Hi everyone, I'm creating one Cocoa application for myself and I found a problem. I have two NSTextFields and they're connected to each other as nextKeyViews. When I run this app with memory leaks detection tool and tab through those 2 textboxes for a while, enter some text etc., I start to leak memory. It shows me that the AppKit library is responsible, the leaked objects are NSCFStrings and the responsible frames are [NSEvent charactersIgnoringModifiers] and [NSApplication nextEventMatchingMask:untilDate:inMode:dequeue:]. I know this is quite a brief and incomplete description, but does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? Also, I don't use GC, so I release my instance variables in the controllers dealloc. What about the outlets? Since IBOutlet is just a mark for Interface Builder and doesn't actually mean anything, should I release them too?

  I just started programming in Excel and I have a problem figuring some code out. I have created a work schedule in Excel with lists in order to add new people. I wanted to create a macro in which the user inputs a value in a cell (I chose B3) and depending on that 'start time' in cell B3, the headers for the lists all change to correspond with that starting time. For example: B3 says 5:00 am. All the headers will follow with: 5:00 am, 6:00 am, 7:00 am, etc. of course the headers will move at some point so I'm wondering how do you point to a cell that moves too?

• Lucene search on specific field name?

  I have been playing around with an installation of SOLR that indexes some data from my database. I am able to index data and query it back but I was wondering about how field name queries work. For certain fields I am able to specify their name and the search text to have the results return as expected and for other fields, when I specify their name and search text, no results are returned. q=type:book //(this will work) q=type:book AND title:"The Title" //(no results returned) In this example, type is a required field and title is not. For the example where I search by title, I can see the document in the results of the first query having the given title so I know that a document exists that matches this search. Is making a field 'required' the only way to be able to search by field name? [edit] I'm using the default installation and the 'example' folder inside of solr, editing the xml files and using the interface available through start.jar to be able to run, index and query.

• Why do my Xcode default font starts to look ugly after some time, until I restart?

  I plugged in an external monitor. All resolutions match perfectly. MacBookPro LCD is closed. After about 10 minutes my fonts in Xcode start to look very bad. Only in Xcode. When I restart the mac and don't use an external monitor, fonts look all right again. When I attach the monitor again, fonts look nice. Then I close XCode and reopen it: Fonts suck. All other fonts look great. It seems like Xcode isn't antialiasing them properly after something happens. For my observation it happens when I quit and reopen Xcode while an external monitor is in use. Only way to fix it then is to completely reboot. Is there a fix for this problem?

• Filter Warnings In Error List Windows In Visual Studio 2010

  I just recently got the approval to upgrade our project from .NET 1.1. to .NET 4. I loaded up the project in Visual Studio 2010 and I've got it compiled and working. However as is to be expected there are over 3000 warnings I need to start looking at and handling. The problem is this solution has about 20 projects in it. So what I'd like to be able to do is filter the warnings on project. So I could say only show warnings for this project. Does anyone know if this is possible in Visual Studio 2010 or if there is an add-on I can add?
