  • Javascript or CSS hover not working in Safari and Chrome

    - by PAZtech
    I have a problem with a script for a image gallery. The problem seems to only occur on Safari and Chrome, but if I refresh the page I get it to work correctly - weird! Correct function: The gallery has a top bar, which if you hover over it, it will display a caption. Below sits the main image. At the bottom there is another bar that is a reversal of the top bar. When you hover over it, it will display thumbnails of the gallery. The problem: In Safari and Chrome, the thumbnail holder will not display. In fact, it doesn't even show it as an active item (or a rollover). But oddly enough, if you manually refresh the page it begins to work correctly for the rest of the time you view the page. Once you have left the page and return the same error occurs again and you have to go through the same process. Here's one of the pages to look at: link text Here's the CSS: #ThumbsGutter { background: url(../Images/1x1.gif); background: url(/Images/1x1.gif); height: 105px; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 754px; z-index: 2; } #ThumbsHolder { display: none; } #ThumbsTable { left: 1px; } #Thumbs { background-color: #000; width: 703px; } #Thumbs ul { list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; } #Thumbs ul li { display: inline; } .Thumbs ul li a { border-right: 1px solid #fff; border-top: 1px solid #fff; float: left; left: 1px; } .Thumbs ul li a img { filter: alpha(opacity=50); height: 104px; opacity: .5; width: 140px; } .Thumbs ul li a img.Hot { filter: alpha(opacity=100); opacity: 1; } Here is the javascript: //Variables var globalPath = ""; var imgMain; var gutter; var holder; var thumbs; var loadingImage; var holderState; var imgCount; var imgLoaded; var captionHolder; var captionState = 0; var captionHideTimer; var captionHideTime = 500; var thumbsHideTimer; var thumbsHideTime = 500; $(document).ready(function() { //Load Variables imgMain = $("#MainImage"); captionHolder = $("#CaptionHolder"); • Mouse over effect with jQuery in richfaces datatable and datascroller combo

    - by John
    Hi, I'm problem with defining a mouse over effect for my datatables. I have <a4j:form> <rich:dataTable id="dataTable"> ... </rich:dataTable> <rich:datascroller id="dataScroller" for="dataTable" /> </a4j:form> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseover(function(){jQuery(this).addClass('active-row')})"/> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseout(function(){jQuery(this).removeClass('active-row')})"/> which are working fine on the very first page. However if I use the datascroller to goto another page, the mouseover effect is gone. I've tried reRendering the table or the jQuery components, that didn't help with the problem at all. Any suggestion on how I can get this working? Thanks!

  • mouse over and ajax tooltip

    - by vichet
    I have a number of links which I would like to get some information by using ajax calls and display the information as tooltip. I have bind the function that make the ajax call with the event on mouseover of the link something like: $('#div a').bind('mouseover', function () { //sending the ajax call } everything looks/work fine except, when the user unintentionally move the mouse pointer over all the links, I saw that there are many ajax calls. so my question how can I prevent the ajax call unless the users hover the mouse pointer on the link for at least 3 or 4 seconds first.

  • Javascript image change causes embeded UserControls to flicker

    - by Sam Barham
    I have a n html page being displayed in IE. It has some buttons made up of images with mouseover/mouseout events on them in JavaScript, and a bunch of embedded .Net UserControls. When the mouseover/mouseout events fire, I change the images src to something else (simple rollover effect). The problem is that the UserControls often (but not always) flicker when this happens. To be clear, the images don't flicker, and the rest of the page doesn't flicker, just the embedded controls. This page is local, not coming from a server or anything. So, any ideas? More information : I've noticed that highlighting text does it too...

  • What is dot and hash symbols mean in JQuery

    - by kwokwai
    Hi all, I feel confused of the dot and hash symbols in the following example: <DIV ID="row"> <DIV ID="c1"> <Input type="radio" name="testing" id="testing" VALUE="1">testing1 </DIV> </DIV> Code 1: $('#row DIV').mouseover(function(){ $('#row DIV).addClass('testing'); }); Code 2 $('.row div').mouseover(function(){ $(this).addClass('testing'); });? Codes 1 and 2 look very similar, and so it makes me so confused that when I should use ".row div" to refer to a specific DIV instead of using "#row div" ?

  • How do I use the html 'title' attribute with Html.Encode()?

    - by Kai
    Hello, I've been tryin to find an example of the syntax for getting an html 'title' for a string when using Html.Encode(). I want to display the full name in the mouseover title, if it's too long. Is there a way to do this without wrapping the string in a < span , i.e. <span title = "<%=Html.Encode(model.Name) %>"> //displays the full name on mouseover <%=Html.Encode(model.Name.Substring(0, 10))%>... //displays the name up to a max length </span> Or should I just do it this way? Thanks!

  • D3 fisheye on width on bar chart

    - by Dexter Tan
    i have been trying to create a vertical bar chart with a d3 fisheye cartesian distortion with only the x-axis being distorted. I have succeeded in distorting the x position of the vertical bars on mouseover with the following code: var maxMag = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return d.value[10]; }); var minDate = d3.min(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var maxDate = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var yScale = d3.scale.linear().domain([0, maxMag]).range([0, h]); var xScale = d3.fisheye.scale(d3.scale.linear).domain([minDate, maxDate]).range([0, w]).focus(w/2); var bar = svg.append("g") .attr("class", "bars") .selectAll(".bar") .data(dataset) .enter().append("rect") .attr("class", "bar") .attr("y", function(d) { return h - yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("width", w/dataset.length) .attr("height", function(d) { return yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("fill", function(d) { return (d.value[10] <= 6? "yellow" : "orange" ); }) .call(position); // Positions the bars based on data. function position(bar) { bar.attr("x", function(d) { var date = null; if (d.date != null) { date = d.date; } else { date = new Date(d.value[1],0,1); if (d.value[2] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[2]-1); if (d.value[3] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[3]); d.date = date; } return xScale(date.getTime()); }); } svg.on("mousemove", function() { var mouse = d3.mouse(this); xScale.distortion(2.5).focus(mouse[0]); bar.call(position); }); However at this point, applying fisheye on the width remains a mystery to me. I have tried several methods like using a fisheye scale for width however it does not work as expected. What i wish to do is to have the width of a bar expand on mouseover, the same way a single vertical bar is singled out on mouseover with the cartesian distortion. Any clues or help will be much appreciated! edit: http://dexter.xumx.me to view the visualisation i am talking about for easier understanding!

  • Create a hyperlink of a slanting image in expression Blend

    - by Tony Bolding
    I am developing a navigation menu in silverlight that has 6 images. As you mouseover each image grows and clicking on an image will take you to a page on the website. The customer I am doing this for decided that straight rectangular images were boring and I showed him a design where I have slanted each image so each one is now a rhomboid shape. Horizontal top and bottom with sides slanting about 30deg from vertical. I have been unable to figure out any way of growing each image on mouseover without putting a white block over the adjacent images. Would be grateful for any pointers.

  • Remove Attributes onmouseover and onmouseout

    - by Abs
    Hello all, I am trying to make use of JQuery's remove attribute like this: $('#rom-img_1').removeAttr('mouseover'); $('#rom-img_2').removeAttr('mouseout'); However, it does not remove the effects of the events as the events are still triggered on mouseover and on mouseout. I have tried adding "on" before the events names too but JQuery doesn't use it like that. Why isn't this working and how can I remove those attributes. This is a bit of the HTML: <div onmouseout="$('#heart_401').css({'display':'none'});" onmouseover="$('#heart_401').css({'display':'block'});" id="row-img_11"></div> Thanks all for any help

  • Automatic VisualState Manager in Silverlight

    - by Matt
    If you create a simple button and then choose Edit Template - Edit a Copy, Blend will automatically generate a style area, along with all the button states (MouseEnter, MouseLeave, Pressed, etc). No where in the code behind or auto generated style area does it say that on a "MouseOver" event, change the state to "MouseOver", but it still manages to work! Is the only way to change a button's state have to be done the code behind using the VisualStateManager.GoToState method, or can you change it much like CSS does (a:hover) using the VisualStateManager? From my experience, setting just doesn't seem to do the trick.

  • Javascript / Jquery Tree Travesal question

    - by Copper
    Suppose I have the following <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2 <ul> <li>Sub Item</li> </ul> </li> <li>Item 3</li> </ul> This list is auto-generated by some other code (so adding exclusive id's/class' is out of the question. Suppose I have some jquery code that states that if I mouseover an li, it gets a background color. However, if I mouseover the "Sub Item" list item, "Item 2" will be highlighted as well. How can I make it so that if the user mouses over "Sub Item" it only puts a background color on that and not on "Item 2" as well?

  • If element has been 'mouseover'ed for 500ms, run function with jQuery

    - by PaulAdamDavis
    For the sanity of my users, I want a 'mouseover' event to run after the selector has been hovered for half a second rather than as soon as they hover it. I first tried a setTimeout function but that runs however long the element has been hovered, I didn't think it through too much I guess. I've also spent a day (on and off) searching (and playing Pacman) ti no result, unless I'm searching for the wrong things. I would like to keep this plugin-less if we can, purely for run speed & maintainability. $("#mySelector").mouseover(function(){ // Run after 500ms $(this).addClass("hasBeen500ms"); }); Let's see if we can crack this, I know it will have so many applications!

  • Hover multiple elements affecting only 1 item

    - by lilsizzo
    hi guys i was wondering if there is a way to hover a few elements with the same class name which is placed side by side and actions would be trigger upon leaving the area of the elements. For example : <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> the javascript of "unhover" below should only be called when they leave the whole area of "hoverme" class. $('.hoverme').live('mouseover mouseout', function(event) { if (event.type == 'mouseover') { if(!$("#stage1 td").hasClass("hover")) { $("#stage1 td").addClass("hover",200) } } else { //$("#stage1 td").removeClass("hover",200) } }); Is there a way for this action??

  • SFML 2.0 Too Many Variables in Class Preventing Draw To Screen

    - by Josh
    This is a very strange phenomenon to me. I have a class definition for a game, but when I add another variable to the class, the draw method does not print everything to the screen. It will be easier understood showing the code and output. Code for good draw output: class board { protected: RectangleShape rect; int top, left; int i, j; int rowSelect, columnSelect; CircleShape circleArr[4][10]; CircleShape codeArr[4]; CircleShape keyArr[4][10]; //int pegPresent[4]; public: board(void); void draw(RenderWindow& Window); int mouseOver(RenderWindow& Window); void placePeg(RenderWindow& Window, int pegSelect); }; Screen: Code for missing draw: class board { protected: RectangleShape rect; int top, left; int i, j; int rowSelect, columnSelect; CircleShape circleArr[4][10]; CircleShape codeArr[4]; CircleShape keyArr[4][10]; int pegPresent[4]; public: board(void); void draw(RenderWindow& Window); int mouseOver(RenderWindow& Window); void placePeg(RenderWindow& Window, int pegSelect); }; Screen: As you can see, all I do is un-comment the protected array and most of the pegs are gone from the right hand side. I have checked and made sure that I didn't accidentally created a variable with that name already. I haven't used it anywhere. Why does it not draw the remaining pegs as it should? My only thought is that maybe I am declaring too many variables for the class, but that doesn't really make sense to me. Any thoughts and help is greatly appreciated.

  • Sharing on Github

    - by Alan
    Over the past couple weeks I have gotten a lot of help from StackOverflow users on a project, and rather than keep the finished product to myself I wanted to share it unencumbered by licenses, but don't want there to be so much legwork during installation that users shy away from trying it. I am about to post it to Github and choosing public domain licensing. I would like to to be super simple for users to make use of and just FTP it up and go. That being said, do I need to make sure I remove things like the JQuery file, and other GPL / MIT licensed dependencies that I didn't write but that my code depends on? I haven't removed any copyright notices from the other code and all of it open source, it would just be nice if users could download everything at once while of course not trying to represent that I am the license holder of the dependencies. Inside my files are also some snippets, do those have to be externalized with installation instructions or can it be posted as is? Here is an example, my nav.php file is 115 lines long and I have these at the top: <script type="text/javascript" src="./js/ddaccordion.js"> /*********************************************** * Accordion Content script- (c) Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.dynamicdrive.com) * Visit http://www.dynamicDrive.com for hundreds of DHTML scripts * This notice must stay intact for legal use ***********************************************/ </script> <link href="css/admin.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script type="text/javascript"> ddaccordion.init({ headerclass: "submenuheader", //Shared CSS class name of headers group contentclass: "submenu", //Shared CSS class name of contents group revealtype: "click", //Reveal content when user clicks or onmouseover the header? • A Simple Collapsible Menu with jQuery

    - by Vincent Maverick Durano
    In this post I'll demonstrate how to make a simple collapsible menu using jQuery. To get started let's go ahead and fire up Visual Studio and create a new WebForm.  Now let's build our menu by adding some div, p and anchor tags. Since I'm using a masterpage then the ASPX mark-up should look something like this:   1: <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> 2: <div id="Menu"> 3: <p>CARS</p> 4: <div class="section"> 5: <a href="#">Car 1</a> 6: <a href="#">Car 2</a> 7: <a href="#">Car 3</a> 8: <a href="#">Car 4</a> 9: </div> 10: <p>BIKES</p> 11: <div class="section"> 12: <a href="#">Bike 1</a> 13: <a href="#">Bike 2</a> 14: <a href="#">Bike 3</a> 15: <a href="#">Bike 4</a> 16: <a href="#">Bike 5</a> 17: <a href="#">Bike 6</a> 18: <a href="#">Bike 7</a> 19: <a href="#">Bike 8</a> 20: </div> 21: <p>COMPUTERS</p> 22: <div class="section"> 23: <a href="#">Computer 1</a> 24: <a href="#">Computer 2</a> 25: <a href="#">Computer 3</a> 26: <a href="#">Computer 4</a> 27: </div> 28: <p>OTHERS</p> 29: <div class="section"> 30: <a href="#">Other 1</a> 31: <a href="#">Other 2</a> 32: <a href="#">Other 3</a> 33: <a href="#">Other 4</a> 34: </div> 35: </div> 36: </asp:Content>   As you can see there's nothing fancy about the mark up above.. Now lets go ahead create a simple CSS to set the look and feel our our Menu. Just for for the simplicity of this demo, add the following CSS below under the <head> section of the page or if you are using master page then add it a the content head. Here's the CSS below:   1: <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent" runat="server"> 2: <style type="text/css"> 3: #Menu{ 4: width:300px; 5: } 6: #Menu > p{ 7: background-color:#104D9E; 8: color:#F5F7FA; 9: margin:0; 10: padding:0; 11: border-bottom-style: solid; 12: border-bottom-width: medium; 13: border-bottom-color:#000000; 14: cursor:pointer; 15: } 16: #Menu .section{ 17: padding-left:5px; 18: background-color:#C0D9FA; 19: } 20: a{ 21: display:block; 22: color:#0A0A07; 23: } 24: </style> 25: </asp:Content>   Now let's add the collapsible effects on our menu using jQuery. To start using jQuery then register the following script at the very top of the <head> section of the page or if you are using master page then add it the very top of  the content head section.   <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js" ></script>   As you can see I'm using Google AJAX API CDN to host the jQuery file. You can also download the jQuery here and host it in your server if you'd like. Okay here's the the jQuery script below for adding the collapsible effects:   1: <script type="text/javascript"> 2: $(function () { 3: $("a").mouseover(function () { $(this).addClass("highlightRow"); }) 4: .mouseout(function () { $(this).removeClass("highlightRow"); }); 5:   6: $(".section").hide(); 7: $("#Menu > p").click(function () { 8: $(this).next().slideToggle("Slow"); 9: }); 10: }); 11: </script>   Okay to give you a little bit of explaination, at line 3.. what it does is it looks for all the "<a>" anchor elements on the page and attach the mouseover and mouseout event. On mouseover, the highlightRow css class is added to <a> element and on mouse out we remove the css class to revert the style to its default look. at line 6 we will hide all the elements that has a class name set as "section" and if you look at the mark up above it is refering to the <div> elements right after each <p> element. At line 7.. what it does is it looks for a <p> element that is a direct child of the element that has an ID of "Menu" and then attach the click event to toggle the visibilty of the section. Here's how it looks in the page: On Initial Load: After Clicking the Section Header:   That's it! I hope someone find this post usefu!   Technorati Tags: ASP.NET,JQuery,Master Page,JavaScript

  • Icons and the FOSS desktop

    <b>Linux Pro Magazine:</b> "Icons have always intimidated me. Except for the mouseover help, two-thirds of the time I would have no idea what function they represent. Shrink them so that they fit on a toolbar, and the obscurity is compounded by illegibility."

  • onmouseover with django / imagekit

    - by Michael Moreno
    I'm using Imagekit. View.py includes: def pics(request): p = Photo.objects.all() return render_to_response('Shots.html', {'p': p}) The following simple code in the template will generate associated images: {% for p in p %} <img src = "{{ p.display.url }}"> <img src = "{{ p.thumbnail_image.url }}"> {% endfor %} I'm attempting to generate a series of thumbnails {{ p.thumbnail_image.url }} which, when mouseover'd, will generate the slightly larger version of the image, {{ p.display.url }} via Javascript. The following code in the template attempts to do so: <html> <head> <HEAD> <script language="Javascript"> { image1 = new Image image2 = new Image image1.src = {{ p.thumbnail_image.url }} image2.src = {{ p.display.url }} </script> </head> <body> {% for p in p %} <a href="" onMouseOver="document.rollover.src= image2.src onMouseOut="document.rollover.src= image1.src"> <img src="{{ p.thumbnail_image.url }}" border=0 name="rollover"></a> {% endfor %} </body> </html> This will display the series of thumbnails, but the larger image will not display when mouseover'd. I believe it has to do with how I'm specifying the variable {{ p.display.url }}.

  • DateChooser is behaving strangly

    - by Tam
    Hi, I'm writing a Flex application and I came accross what I think is a weird problem. I want to create a text box and a DateChooser as the datefield didn't do what I wanted and it's Halo so I can't skin it easily. I want the DateChooser to show when I click on the text input. Here is except from my code: <s:TextInput id="wholeDate" width="100" mouseOver="stopChangeToNormal();" paddingRight="10" click="date1.visible = true" focusOut="date1.visible = false"/> <s:Button label="Go" width="70" /> </s:Panel> <mx:DateChooser id="date1" visible = "false" change="useDate(event);" mouseOver="changeToNormalState = false;" y="{wholeDate.y + buttonsGroup.y + 20}" x="{wholeDate.x + buttonsGroup.x - 175 }" /> The weird thing is that it work as I wanted if I make it visible = "true" to start but if I have it visible="false" it doesn't work! it shows by the date I select doesn't show in the box as it does if I have it as visible="true" but I don't want it to be visible initially. Any ideas? Thanks, Tam

  • Getting value from href using jQuery

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with a jQuery problem I am having. I am using the tooltips from the Jquery Tools library to create a popup window when mousing over an hrefed image, this I want to use to cusomise the call to change the content in the DIV. The links I am using are in the form: <a href="/venue/1313.htm" class="quickView"><img src="/images/site/quickView83.png" alt="Quick View" width="83" height="20" /></a> The code I am using to trigger the tip is: $(".quickView").live('mouseover', function() { if (!$(this).data('init')) { $(this).data('init', true); ajax_quickView(); $(this).tooltip ({ /* tooltip configuration goes here */ tip: "#quickViewWindow", position: "right", offset: [0, -300], effect: 'slide' }); $(this).trigger('mouseover'); } }); I have tried the following function to grab the ID (in the example above, 1313) from the link: function ajax_quickView(){ var pageNum = $("a.quickView").attr("href").match(/venue/([0-9]+)/).htm[1]; $("#quickViewWindow").load("/quick-view/", function(){}) } However I think this is where it falls down, I think my regex is prob to blame... Once I get the var pageNum I presume I can just pass it into the .load as: $("#quickViewWindow").load("/quick-view/", {id : pageNum }, function(){}) Many thanks

  • JQUERY: Setting Active state on animated menu tabs

    - by Tony
    I have image sprites that use JQuery to set the BG position on mouseover and mouseout events. When I set the active state BG position using JQUERY it works fine until I move my cursor away from the active 'tab' which then fires the mouseout event animation. What I want is the mouseClick event to stop the animation on the active tab but still allow the animation effect to work on the other tabs, and when another tab is clicked for the active state to be removed from the current tab to the new 'active' tab. JQuery $(function(){ /* This script changes main nav links hover state*/ $('.navigation a') .css( {backgroundPosition: "-1px -120px"} ) .mouseover(function(){ $(this).stop().animate({backgroundPosition:"(-1px -240px)"}, {duration:400}) }) .mouseout(function(){ $(this).stop().animate({backgroundPosition:"(-1px -120px)"}, {duration:400, complete:function (){ $(this).css({backgroundPosition: "-1px -120px"}) }}) }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $("a").click(function(){ $(this).css({backgroundPosition: "-1px -235px"}); }); }); HTML <ul class="navigation"> <li><a href="#index" tabindex="10" title="Home" id="homeButton"></a></li> <li><a href="#about" tabindex="20" title="About us" id="aboutButton"></a></li> <li><a href="#facilities" tabindex="30" title="Our facilities and opening Times" id="facilitiesButton"></a></li> <li><a href="#advice" tabindex="40" title="Advice and useful links" c id="adviceButton"></a></li> <li><a href="#find" tabindex="50" title="How to find Us" id="findButton"></a></li> <li><a href="#contact" tabindex="60" title="Get in touch with us" id="contactButton"></a></li> </ul> You can see what I've got so far here Thanks in advance for any help
