  • What does "?ref=ts" mean in a FACEBOOK APP url

    When Facebook drives traffic to an app, they often append &ref=whatever to the query string. This is useful for figuring out which integration points are working or not. I've figured out what some of these mean. For example: ref=bookmarks - the user clicked on a bookmark. ref=game_my_recent - the user clicked on the upper portion of the games dashboard. Does anyone know what "ref=ts" means? It accounts for a ton of traffic. I've viewed source on pages all over common FB pages and cannot find a match for ant piece of content generated by any of my apps.     Ref. to my last post and sellibitze's comment to that post on passing array by ref rather than by value, why is it that when I'm passing array by value compiler can deduce arguments but it won't do it if I pass it by value? @Paul So just to make it clear when I'm declaring fnc: void f(int a[]);//I'm passing a pointer but when I'm declaring: void f(int &a[]);//I'm passing a ref? Do I understand this correctly now?

  • Unable to set mouse cursor JLayeredPane

    I'm running into a problem that I can't seem to figure out nor find the answer anywhere on the web. I've got a JLayeredPane and when it only has one child Panel I am able to correctly set the cursor using setCursor(). The cursor shows up and everything is fine.   • Getting javascript mouse position relative to website prefferably without jQuery

    I've found this snippet on Ajaxian, but I can't seem to use the cursor.y (or cursor.x) as a variable and when the function is called as such it does not seem to work.   • Latex label/ref for "fake" external figure

    Hello, some journals require each figure to be submitted in a separate document. However, they do want the figure legends to be listed in the main document. I was thus hoping to do something along these lines: \section{Figure Legends} \begin{description} \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \label{fig:fireAntBiology} bla bla ants \end{description} This would still permit to \ref the figure from the main text. However, it doesn't work (The \ref returns the number of section "Figure Legends"). The following correctly gives a different number to each "figure": \item[Figure \ref{fig:fireAntBiology}] \begin{figure} \caption{\label{fig:fireAntBiology}} \end{figure} bla bla ants However, it also places empty figure floats throughout the document. A solution should be straightforward. What am I missing? Any ideas? Thanks! yannick

  • Avoid hourglass mouse cursor when calling a web-service?

    I don't know if this is a general web-services issue or just my specific scenario, which is a WPF application with a DispatcherTimer calling a web-service method. Whenever the timer is called, the mouse cursor automatically changes to an hourglass cursor. The processing of the call is very short and happens every 3 seconds, so the user experience is that every 3 seconds the mouse filckers as an hourglass for a split-second and then goes back to the normal cursor representation. How can I avoid this inconvenience? Thanks.

[myRect release]; [pool drain]; return 0; } Rectangle's origin is declared as a (retain) synthesized property. Just wondering 2 things: Why does ref count goes to 3 when using the getter accessor of Rectangle's origin? Am I doing something wrong ? With a ref count of 3, I don't understand how this snippet of code cannot leak. Calling release on myRect will make it go down to 2 since I call release on the origin in dealloc(). But then, when does autorelease take effect? Thanks!

  • How to configure default text selection behavior in Windows XP, 7? (eg. mouse click selects entire word vs. mouse click inserts an active cursor)

    I find the mouse click behavior of Windows XP and Windows 7 annoying and intrusive. I don't remember Windows NT being quite this bad, or MacOS 7 - 10 which I used in the nineties. When I'm using a browser and I click on a text field - for example, the address bar, or a search box - the first thing which happens is the entire field is selected.Subsequent clicks seem to select parts of words, often deciding arbitrarily to exclude or include adjacent punctuation. The same in Excel and other apps, and when trying to rename files, so I'm assuming this behavior comes from a system-wide text handling routine. I frequently want to edit text, cut out or replace odd parts of the insides of words or chunks of sentences, and often find that to get a simple cursor to insert I have to click the mouse up to 4 times in succession. I've had to do a lot of this recently and it has been driving me insane. Is there a place at the system level where this can be configured? In a perfect world, I'd like a single click on a new text area to insert a cursor point, and a rapid double click to select the entire area. Words or text within the area could be selected by inserting a cursor, holding down the mouse button and dragging to the exact point where I want the selection to end - even if that's in the middle of a word. No, I don't need or want Windows to "smart select" a word or sentence for me. I've looked in the Mouse and Accessibility Options control panels (Windows XP). Haven't found anything even close.   • Ubuntu 14.04, only wallpaper and a mouse cursor is showing

    I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 weeks ago, that was a fresh install. And as usual installed, Unity tweak tool, some themes, Chrome, eclipse etc. Today, while playing with Unity tweak tool, I mistakenly switched Window spread to off, and bang, no problem yet. After realizing what I did I switched it to on again and then, the title bar of all windows, the status bar (guessing it's called that), and the launcher disappeared. Now I was left with a mouse cursor and the Unity tweak tool window, without the title bar. I thought a restart is needed, but sadly no shutdown option to click on, moreover, the keyboard didn't worked, neither the hardware shutdown button. So, I pressed the reset button. After a mundane restart, I was welcomed by the wallpaper and the mouse cursor, moving, that's it. Searched everywhere for a working solution, found some solutions in AskUbuntu itself, but they where all old and required terminal to be used, but since my keyboard isn't working, no access to the terminal. So, ofcource the question isn't a dublicate, at least, IMHO. Also, I was working on an Android project and have got no backups, so I won't be going for a clean install, or else I will start crying watching my weeks of work being deleted, any solutions, please.

  • Ubuntu live cd : black screen and blinking cursor

    I try to install ubuntu 12.04 on my computer. I can get to the purple screen on the live cd but then, if I choose "Installing Ubuntu", I have a black screen with a cursor blinking (and nothing else happens). My PC : acer aspire M3920, CPU i5-2300, 8 Gb RAM, NVIDIA gt 405. What I already tried : I tried with 12.04 and 13.04 daily build I tried with a live usb and with a live dvd I tried the following boot options : nomodset, acpi=off I googled a lot and it seems that it could be a graphic card problem. Do you know any other boot options that I could try ? UPDATE This is not a duplicate : I've tried all the common boot options (nomodeset, noacpi...) and it doesn't change anything. With the option "no splash" (instead of "quiet splash"), I can see what happens before the forever-blinking cursor : [sdg] no caching mode present [sdg] assuming drive cache : write trough ata8.00: excetion Emask 0x52 ... frozen ata8 : SError : { RecovData RecovComm UnrecovData...} ata8.00 : failed command : IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE ... ata8.00 : status : { DRDY } ata8 : hard resetting link Does somebody know what it means ? N.B. astonishingly, Puppy Linux boots fine (but Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu do not) Solution In fact, it was not a graphic card problem. I had to disconnect the dvd drive and connect it to another free sata connector (I don't really understand why Ubuntu had trouble with this connector and Windows 7 not). After that, everything worked fine.

    Hi all, I am trying to do a simple task: I have an editable text field, two buttons (titles: make editable/ make un-editable) over a window. Idea is: when user clicks "make editable" button, text field should become editable and when he/she clicks "make un-editable", it should become un-editable. In action of "make un-editable" I am doing this: [myTextField setSelectable:NO]; [myTextField setEditable:NO]; and in action of "make editable" I am doing this: [myTextField setSelectable:YES]; [myTextField setEditable:YES]; Problem is: It works fine when myTextField does not have cursor within it and user clicks - "make un-editable", ie. myTextField becomes un-editable but when it has cursor and user clicks "make un-editable" he/she can still edit myTextField. For its solution I tried to remove cursor from myTextField as soon as user clicks "make un-editable" button, by adding these lines before selectable and editable statements: [someOtherTextField selectText:self]; [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] performSelector:@selector(selectText:) someOtherTextField argument:self order:9999 modes:[NSArray arrayWithObject:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]]; [someOtherTextField becomeFirstResponder]; but none is working for me :( Can anyone suggest some solution for it? If there are no addons in the cursor (cursor is empty), then I would like to skip this part enitrely

  • Drawing an arrow cursor on user dragging in XNA/MonoGame

    I am writing a touch enabled game in MonoGame (XNA-like API) and would like to display a an arrow 'cursor' as user is making a drag gesture from point A to point B. I am not sure on how to correctly approach this problem. It seems that its best to just draw a sprite from A to B and scale it as required. This would however mean it gets stretched as user continues dragging gesture in one direction. Or maybe its better to dynamically render the arrow so it looks better?

    I've installed ubuntu 12.04.1 "rock solid" \m/ everything works fine apart from the fact that during startup...the usual purple screen and ubuntu logo doesnt appear...only a black screen and blinking cursor is visible...then after a while for a fraction of a second the ubuntu logo and purple screen comes and disappear to the login page...i tried plymouth but it didnt help in solving the problem...but i did end up changing the logo to a more artistic one :) any one plz help...my ubuntu is installed on my asus 1225c netbook.. thank you

  • Word Spell Check pops up hidden and "freezes" my App

    I am using Word's Spell Check in my in house WinForm app. My clients are all XP machines with Office 2007 and randomly the spell check suggestion box pops up behind the App and makes everything "appear" frozen as you cannot get at it. Suggestions? What do other people do to work around this or stop it altogether?   • "Executing SQL directly; no cursor" error when using SCOPE_IDENTITY/IDENT_CURRENT

    There wasn't much on google about this error, so I'm askin here. I'm switching a PHP web application from using MySQL to SQL Server 2008 (using ODBC, not php_mssql). Running queries or anything else isn't a problem, but when I try to do scope_identity (or any similar functions), I get the error "Executing SQL directly; no cursor". I'm doing this immediately after an insert, so it should still be in scope. Running the same insert statement then query for the insert ID works fine in SQL Server Management Studio. Here's my code right now (everything else in the database wrapper class works fine for other queries, so I'll assume it isn't relevant right now): function insert_id(){ return $this->query_first("SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() as insert_id"); } query_first being a function that returns the first result from the first field of a query (basically the equivalent of execute_scalar() on .net).   • Re-open Word document to previous cursor location with identical page vertical position

    I would like to return to my previous point of edit with the page vertically positioned identical to its original vertical position. The Shift+F5 technique returns me to the previous point of edit, but the page I return to is vertically positioned on the screen in a somewhat random manner. In other words, if my cursor is 300 vertical pixels from the top of the document viewport, I would like to re-open my page so that the location of the cursor is still 300 vertical pixels from the top of my viewport. The following can be used to determine the vertical position (on the screen) of my text cursor: ActiveWindow.GetPoint pLeft, pTop, pWidth, pHeight, Selection.Range So the challenge becomes how to scroll my document in such a manner as to return my text cursor to its original vertical position (pHeight)? There is no corresponding ActiveWindow.SetPoint and ActiveWindow.ScrollIntoView scrolls a selection range into view, but offers no control over the vertical position of the selection range on the screen.
