    Hi, I am using JBOSS 4.2.2 server to deploy multiple web applications. Each application uses Hibernate and for each application there are saperate log files and saparate appendar. Now for Hibernate logging statements of one application should go in log file of that particular application. Does anybody has idea how to configure log4j.xml file to achieve this?     While bouncing around StackOverflow, I've noticed a number of people attaching events (notably click events) to the document as opposed to the elements themselves. Example: Given this: <button id="myButton">CLICK ME</button> Instead of writing this (using jQuery just for brevity): $('#myButton').on('click', function() { ... }); They do this: $(document).on('click', function() { ... }); And then presumably use event.target to drill down to the element that was actually clicked. Are there any gains/advantages in capturing events at the document level instead of at the element level?

  • How can I get Transaction Logs to auto-truncate after Backup

    Setup: Sql Server 2008 R2, databases set up with Full recovery mode. I have set up a maintenance plan that backs up the transaction logs for a number of databases on the server. It is set to create backup files in sub-directories for each database, verify backup integrity is turned on, and backup compression is used. The job is set to run once every 2 hours during business hours (8am-6pm). I have tested the job and it runs fine, creates the log backup files as it should. However, from what I have read, once the transaction log is backed up, it should be ok to truncate the transaction log. I do not see any option for doing this in the Sql Server Maintenance Plan designer. How can I set this up?

But when i load the application this clears my flashlog.txt though my file mode is READ. I can understand that running my air application clears the flashlog and prepares it for new logging. Is there a workaround for this. I dont want to open the flashlog file everytime and check for traces from my web application

  • Windows Azure Use Case: Infrastructure Limits

You can find the main post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/buckwoody/archive/2011/01/18/windows-azure-and-sql-azure-use-cases.aspx  Description: Physical hardware components take up room, use electricity, create heat and therefore need cooling, and require wiring and special storage units. all of these requirements cost money to rent at a data-center or to build out at a local facility. In some cases, this can be a catalyst for evaluating options to remove this infrastructure requirement entirely by moving to a distributed computing environment. Implementation: There are three main options for moving to a distributed computing environment. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) The first option is simply to virtualize the current hardware and move the VM’s to a provider. You can do this with Microsoft’s Hyper-V product or other software, build the systems and host them locally on fewer physical machines. This is a good option for canned-applications (where you have to type setup.exe) but not as useful for custom applications, as you still have to license and patch those servers, and there are hard limits on the VM sizes. Software as a Service (SaaS) If there is already software available that does what you need, it may make sense to simply purchase not only the software license but the use of it on the vendor’s servers. Microsoft’s Exchange Online is an example of simply using an offering from a vendor on their servers. If you do not need a great deal of customization, have no interest in owning or extending the source code, and need to implement a solution quickly, this is a good choice. Platform as a Service (PaaS) If you do need to write software for your environment, your next choice is a Platform as a Service such as Windows Azure. In this case you no longer manager physical or even virtual servers. You start at the code and data level of control and responsibility, and your focus is more on the design and maintenance of the application itself. In this case you own the source code and can extend or change it as you see fit. An interesting side-benefit to using Windows Azure as a PaaS is that the Application Fabric component allows a hybrid approach, which gives you a basis to allow on-premise applications to leverage distributed computing paradigms. No one solution fits every situation. It’s common to see organizations pick a mixture of on-premise, IaaS, SaaS and PaaS components. In fact, that’s a great advantage to this form of computing - choice.   • WPF - LayoutUpdated event firing repeatedly

    I've been adding a bit of animation to my WPF application. Thanks to Dan Crevier's unique solution to animating the children of a panel combined with the awesome WPF Penner animations it turned out to be fairly straightforward to make one of my controls look great and have its children move about with some nice animation. Unfortunately this all comes with a performance overhead. I'm happy to have the performance hit when items are added/removed or the control is resized, but it seems that this perf hit occurs consistently throughout the application's lifetime, even when items are completely static. The PanelLayoutAnimator class uses an attached property to hook the UIElement.LayoutUpdated.aspx) event. When this event fires, render transforms are animated to cause the children to glide to their new positions. Unfortunately it seems that the LayoutUpdated event fires every second or so, even when nothing is happening in the application (at least I don't think my code's doing anything -- the app doesn't have focus and the mouse is steady.) As the reason for the event is not immediately apparent to the event handler, all children of the control have to be reevaluated. This event is being called about once a second when idle. The frequency increases when actually using the app. So my question is, how can I improve the performance here? Any answer that assists would be appreciated, but I'm currently stuck on these sub-questions: What causes the LayoutUpdated event to fire so frequently? Is this supposed to happen, and if not, how can I find out why it's firing and curtail it? Is there a more convenient way within the handler to know whether something has happened that might have moved children? If so, I could bail out early and avoid the overhead of looping each child. For now I will work around this issue by disabling animation when there are more than N children in the panel.

  • How can I programmatically link an UIView or UIImageView with an event like "touch up inside"?

    Interface Builder will only allow me to hook up such events for an button. But like in HTML, I just want to haven an blank UIImageView where - as soon as the user taps it - a method is invoked. I hope there is some cool programmatically way of doing that, which I don't know about. UPDATE: In my View Controller that creates the UIImageView I tried to do this: SEL actionSelector = @selector(doSomethingWhenImageIsTouched:); [self.myUIImageView addTarget:nil action:actionSelector forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The compiler gives me a warning, that UIImageView may not respond to addTarget:... what do I have to do so that it works with an UIImageView. I see in the docs that UIImageView does not inherit from UIControl, but addTarget: is part of UIControl. UPDATE: I ended up creating an UIButton after creating the UIImageView. Then I set the frame of that button to the frame of the UIImageView, and alpha to 0.1f. For some reason, it will not work if alpha is 0.0f. And then, I did that cool addTarget: thing...

    Hi I'm using InnoSetup for creating my application installers and I set the "SetupLogging=yes" flag to always create a setup-log file in the %TEMP% directory. This works fine for the installation procedure. Unfortunately, InnoSetup will not create such a log file when I uninstall the application. Is there a flag / possibility to force InnoSetup to also create an uninstall log file?
