Getting batch_action functionality in Symfony 1.0

I'm currently working on a web app written in Symfony. I'm supposed to add an "export to CSV" feature in the backend/administration part of the app for some modules. In the list view, there should be an "Export" button which should provide the user with a csv file of the elements that are displayed (considering filtering criteria). I've created a method in the actions class of the module that takes a comma separated list of ids and generates the CSV, but I'm not really sure how to add the link to it in the view. The problem is that the view doesn't exist anywhere, it's generated on the fly from the data in the generator.yml configuration file. I've posted the relevant part of the file below. I'm new to Symfony, so any help would be appreciated :). Currently, I'm working around this with Javascript (I parse the DOM to get the numeric ids (from the display table) and then build the link for the button. I really think there could be a better way for this.

I haven't done any xml projects, so I'm not quite sure what to do with this data... I'm using curl to make a request to salesforce, and they give me back a response that I need to parse. I want to use simplexml. I have a string like so: option_alpha="value" option_beta="some other value" option_gamma="X" ...etc. I'm using this to parse them into name & value pairs: preg_match_all("/([a-z0-9_]+)\s*=\s*[\"\'](.+?)[\"\']/is", $var_string, $matches) Which works fine, unless it encounters an empty attribute value: option_alpha="value" option_beta="" option_gamma="X" What have I done wrong in my regex?

Laravel 4 - Using multiple paginators on one page

I've been googling for this question but can't find any good answers. I found that there is a method called setPageName() for the paginator but it only works when used like Paginator::setPageName('page'). I looked up the paginator in the Laravel API (http://laravel.com/api/class-Illuminate.Pagination.Environment.html) and the method is a public function just like setBaseUrl which I am currently using like $albums->setBaseUrl('/album/'); for instance I want to have a Photo paginator (?photoPage=n) and a Comment paginator (?commentPage=n). Is there any way that I can use two paginators that use different page names in the URL on one page, or at least call the setPageName() method like setBaseUrl()?

Hi, I hope I can explain this good enough. I have 3 tables. wo_parts, workorders and part2vendor. I am trying to get the cost price of all parts sold in a month. I have this script. $scoreCostQuery = "SELECT SUM(part2vendor.cost*wo_parts.qty) as total_score FROM part2vendor INNER JOIN wo_parts ON (wo_parts.pn=part2vendor.pn) WHERE workorder=$workorder"; What I am trying to do is each part is in wo_parts (under partnumber [pn]). The cost of that item is in part2vendor (under part number[pn]). I need each part price in part2vendor to be multiplied by the quantity sold in wo_parts. The way all 3 tie up is workorders.ident=wo_parts.workorder and part2vendor.pn=wo_parts.pn. I hope someone can assist. The above script does not give me the same total as when added by calculator.

I have an array like this (output from print_r): Array ( [price] => 700.00 [room_prices] => Array ( [0] => [1] => [2] => [3] => [4] => ) [bills] => Array ( [0] => Gas ) ) I'm running a custom function to convert it to an object. Only the top-level should be converted, the sub-arrays should stay as arrays. The output comes out like this: stdClass Object ( [price] => 700.00 [room_prices] => Array ( [0] => Array ) [bills] => Array ( [0] => Array ) ) Here is my conversion function. All it does is set the value of each array member to an object: function array_to_object( $arr ) { $obj = new stdClass; if ( count($arr) == 0 ) return $obj; foreach ( $arr as $k=>$v ) $obj->$k = $v; return $obj; } I can't figure this out for the life of me!

I am working on a project to convert OCR'd PDf to png using ImageMagick and ghostscript and display in the browser so that i can select words in the image by letting a user query for the word . Imagemagick works fine along with ghostscript . I have a problem with the ps2text utility where it does not work reliably with pdf's . could anybody suggest a good utility to convert postscript to text in Linux so that i can store it in a db . thereafter i use a custom written search class to find out the co-ordinates of each word and highlight the text in the browser . I've read like 10 or so "tutorials", and they all involve the same thing: Pull a count of the data set Pull the relevant data set (LIMIT, OFFSET) IE: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE something = ? SELECT * FROM table WHERE something =? LIMIT ? offset ?` Two very similar queries, no? There has to be a better way to do this, my dataset is 600,000+ rows and already sluggish (results are determined by over 30 where clauses, and vary from user to user, but are properly indexed of course).

I am trying to replicate a forum function by getting the last reply of a post. For clarity, see PHPBB: there are four columns, and the last column is what I like to replicate. I have my tables created as such: discussion_id (primary key) user_id parent_id comment status pubdate I was thinking of creating a Link Table that would update for each time the post is replied to. The link table would be as follow: discussion_id (primary key) last_user_id last_user_update However, I am hoping that theres a advance query to achieve this method. That is, grabbing each Parent Discussion, and finding the last reply in each of those Parent Discussions. Am I right that there is such a query?

But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

This is what I'm doing right now (name is UNIQUE): SELECT * FROM fruits WHERE name='apple'; Check if the query returned any result. If yes, don't do anything. If no, a new value has to be inserted: INSERT INTO fruits (name) VALUES ('apple'); Instead of the above is it ok to insert the value into the table without checking if it already exists? If the name already exists in the table, an error will be thrown and if it doesn't, a new record will be inserted. Right now I am having to insert 500 records in a for loop, which results in 1000 queries. Will it be ok to skip the "already-exists" check?

EDIT: now i noticed that i could use something called xml database to store xml data. could someone shed a light on this issue? cause apparently its not as simple as just store data in a xml file?

Drupal: Programmatically saving imagefield images

Hey there! I'm trying to write a sync function that saves some data to nodes, which works fine, until I try to save the thumbnail image associated with the node. I've managed to download the file and put it in my sites/default/files folder, but what's the best way to tell Drupal, "put this file in that CCK imagefield"? EDIT To clarify a bit.. I sync the thumbnails separately (since one image can be used by several nodes)... I would like the initial thumbnail sync to save the files in the correct folder (not a temp one) and just point the imagefield to this file... That's what annoys me with field_file_save_file(), it saves a new file instead of just making a pointer.. Any advice?
