• Finding final/effective web.config values (from inherited configurations)

  Are there any apps that can show the final configuration as applied to a particular application directory? What I'm picturing is something along the lines of FireBug's CSS viewer. Basically, it should show the equivalent single web.config file (as if you only had one), with all the values that apply to the directory in question, with each element (or even attribute) annotated with its source (the real .config file it came from). This would greatly help deploying applications into foreign environments (eg, customer sites) where they sometimes have strange configs, that add in global includes (eg, they put the include in machine.config, instead of the web.config for that app) or have allowOverride=false, etc.

  I am attempting to locate the nth element of a List in Prolog. Here is the code I am attempting to use: Cells = [OK, _, _, _, _, _] . ... next_safe(_) :- facing(CurrentDirection), delta(CurrentDirection, Delta), in_cell(OldLoc), NewLoc is OldLoc + Delta, nth1(NewLoc, Cells, SafetyIdentifier), SafetyIdentifier = OK . Basically, I am trying to check to see if a given cell is "OK" to move into. Am I missing something?

  I have read the explanation about "describe_cluster_snapshots" from ... http://docs.pythonboto.org/en/latest/ref/redshift.html#boto.redshift.layer1.RedshiftConnection.create_cluster It has an option start_time and end_time but there is no way to sort it. How do I get the id of the latest snapshot using boto?   I need to interact with 3'rd party applications by knowing the handle of certain text fields, but the hWnd always changes when that window is recreated. Is there any method that would allow me to identify a window and repeatedly be able to access that window (even after it is closed and then reopened) without having the user manually identify the window? I need the user to be able to identify a window with the usual click, drag and release method but only have to do it once and not every time the target window is recreated.

  I've got a couple models which are set up something like this: class Bar(models.Model): baz = models.CharField() class Foo(models.Model): bar1 = models.ForeignKey(Bar) bar2 = models.ForeignKey(Bar) bar3 = models.ForeignKey(Bar) And elsewhere in the code, I end up with an instance of Bar, and need to find the Foo it is attached to in some capacity. Right now I came up with doing a multiple OR query using Q, something like this: foo_inst = Foo.objects.get(Q(bar1=bar_inst) | Q(bar2=bar_inst) | Q(bar3=bar_inst)) What I need to figure out is, which of the 3 cases actually hit, at least the name of the member (bar1, bar2, or bar3). Is there a good way to do this? Is there a better way to structure the query to glean that information?

• Catching errors in ANTLR and finding parent

  I have found out that I can catch errors during parsing by overwriting displayRecognitionError, but how do I find the parent "node" of this error? ex. if I have the grammar: prog: stat expr; stat: STRING; expr: INTEGER; And give it the input "abc def". Then I will get an error at "def" which should be an integer. At this point I then want to get the parent which is "expr" (since it fails inside the INTEGER part) and it's parent "prog". Kind of like printing stack trace in java. I tried to look at the node from RecognitionException parsed to displayRecognitionError, but it is null, and using CommonErrorNode the parent is null. Should I maybe take a completely different approach?

• Finding cause of memory leaks in large PHP stacks

  I have CLI script that runs over several thousand iterations between runs and it appears to have a memory leak. I'm using a tweaked version of Zend Framework with Smarty for view templating and each iteration uses several MB worth of code. The first run immediately uses nearly 8MB of memory (which is fine) but every following run adds about 80kb. My main loop looks like this (very simplified) $users = UsersModel::getUsers(); foreach($users as $user) { $obj = new doSomethingAwesome(); $obj->run($user); $obj = null; unset($obj); } The point is that everything in scope should be unset and the memory freed. My understanding is that PHP runs through its garbage collection process at it's own desire but it does so at the end of functions/methods/scripts. So something must be leaking memory inside doSomethingAwesome() but as I said it is a huge stack of code. Ideally, I would love to find some sort of tool that displayed all my variables no matter the scope at some point during execution. Some sort of symbol-table viewer for php. Does anything like that or any other tools that could help nail down memory leaks in php exist?

• Finding contained bordered regions from Excel imports.

  I am importing massive amounts of data from Excel that have various table layouts. I have good enough table detection routines and merge cell handling, but I am running into a problem when it comes to dealing with borders. Namely performance. The bordered regions in some of these files have meaning. Data Setup: I am importing directly from Office Open XML using VB6 and MSXML. The data is parsed from the XML into a dictionary of cell data. This wonks wonderfully and is just as fast as using docmd.transferspreadsheet in Access, but returns much better results. Each cell contains a pointer to a style element which contains a pointer to a border element that defines the visibility and weight of each border (this is how the data is structured inside OpenXML, also). Challenge: What I'm trying to do is find every region that is enclosed inside borders, and create a list of cells that are inside that region. What I have done: I initially created a BFS(breadth first search) fill routine to find these areas. This works wonderfully and fast for "normal" sized spreadsheets, but gets way too slow for imports into the thousands of rows. One problem is that a border in Excel could be stored in the cell you are checking or the opposing border in the adjacent cell. That's ok, I can consolidate that data on import to reduce the number of checks needed. One thing I thought about doing is to create a separate graph that outlines the cells using the borders as my edges and using a graph algorithm to find regions that way, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to implement the algorithm. I've used Dijkstra in the past and thought I could do similar with this. So I can span out using no endpoint to search the entire graph, and if I encounter a closed node I know that I just found an enclosed region, but how can I know if the route I've found is the optimal one? I guess I could flag that to run a separate check for the found closed node to the previous node ignoring that one edge. This could work, but wouldn't be much better performance wise on dense graphs. Can anyone else suggest a better method? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

• Finding all instances of a substring in a string

  In my last question I asked about parsing the links out of an HTML page. Since I haven't found a solution yet I thought I tried something else in the meantime: search for every <a href= and copy whatever is there until I hit a </a>. Now, my C is a bit rusty but I do remember i can use strstr() to get the first instance of that string, but how do I get the rest? Any help is appreciated. PS: No. This is not homework on school or something like that. Just so you know.

• C#/WPF FileSystemWatcher on every extension on every path

  I need FileSystemWatcher, that can observing same specific paths, and specific extensions. But the paths could by dozens, hundreds or maybe thousand (hope not :P), the same with extensions. The paths and ext are added by user. Creating hundreds of FileSystemWatcher it's not good idea, isn't it? So - how to do it? Is it possible to watch/observing every device (HDDs, SD flash, pendrives, etc.)? Will it be efficient? I don't think so... . Every changing Windows log file, scanning file by antyvirus program - it could realy slow down my program with SystemWatcher :(

• Setting up path mapping in PHP and Eclipse

  I have just setup my website locally so I can test my pages more easily. Eclipse has been configured to use an XAMPP server locally. The problem is that I want to map my project to a certain place in my website. ie. In my Eclipse PHP project I have a folder called com I want this to map to /com in the webstie. I tried to do this in the mapping section of the Eclipse server setup but it didn't work. When I type http://localhost/com/ It should go to my project folder, however, when I type other folder it should use the normal website folders. how can I do this?

  I was looking for the best way to find the number of running processes with the same name via the command line in Linux. For example if I wanted to find the number of bash processes running and get "5". Currently I have a script that does a 'pidof ' and then does a count on the tokenized string. On every page that displayed a story I would query UserData for the current user: user_data = UserData.all().filter('user =' users.get_current_user()).get() story_is_favorited = (story in user_data.favorites) New Design After watching this talk: Google I/O 2009 - Scalable, Complex Apps on App Engine, I wondered if I could set things up more efficiently. class FavoriteIndex(db.Model): favorited_by = db.StringListProperty() The Story Model is the same, but I got rid of the UserData Model. Each instance of the new FavoriteIndex Model has a Story instance as a parent. And each FavoriteIndex stores a list of user id's in it's favorited_by property. If I want to find all of the stories that have been favorited by a certain user: index_keys = FavoriteIndex.all(keys_only=True).filter('favorited_by =', users.get_current_user().user_id()) story_keys = [k.parent() for k in index_keys] stories = db.get(story_keys) This approach avoids the serialization/deserialization that's otherwise associated with the ListProperty. Efficiency vs Simplicity I'm not sure how efficient the new design is, especially after a user decides to favorite 300 stories, but here's why I like it: A favorited story is associated with a user, not with her user data On a page where I display a story, it's pretty easy to ask the story if it's been favorited (without calling up a separate entity filled with user data). fav_index = FavoriteIndex.all().ancestor(story).get() fav_of_current_user = users.get_current_user().user_id() in fav_index.favorited_by It's also easy to get a list of all the users who have favorited a story (using the method in #2) Is there an easier way?   Hi All, I am having a brain cramp. Below is a toy dataset: df <- data.frame( id = 1:6, v1 = c("a", "a", "c", NA, "g", "h"), v2 = c("z", "y", "a", NA, "a", "g"), stringsAsFactors=F) I have a specific value that I want to find across a set of defined columns and I want to identify the position it is located in. The fields I am searching are characters and the trick is that the value I am looking for might not exist. In addition, null strings are also present in the dataset. Assuming I knew how to do this, the variable position indicates the values I would like returned. > df id v1 v2 position 1 1 a z 1 2 2 a y 1 3 3 c a 2 4 4 <NA> <NA> 99 5 5 g a 2 6 6 h g 99 The general rule is that I want to find the position of value "a", and if it is not located or if v1 is missing, then I want 99 returned. In this instance, I am searching across v1 and v2, but in reality, I have 10 different variables. It is also worth noting that the value I am searching for can only exist once across the 10 variables. What is the best way to generate this recode? Many thanks in advance.

  How can I enable or disable a maven profile based on whether the VM that is executing maven is a 32 bit or a 64 bit JVM? I tried this: <activation> <os> <arch>x86</arch> </os> </activation> or amd64 respectively to detect a 32/64 bit VM, but this fails on a 32 bit VM running on a 64 bit Windows as it activates the 64 bit profile.

  Hello I've been trying for an hour to run the following program with a the postgresql classpath class Test{ public static void main(String[] args){ try { Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver"); } catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe) { System.err.println("Couldn't find Postgresql driver class!"); } } } The program compiled fine with the javac command, but I'm having a hard time running it with the postgresql classpath. • Finding the centroid of a polygon?

  I have tried: for each vertex, add to total, divide by number of verities to get center. I'v also tried: Find the topmost, bottommost - get midpoint... find leftmost, rightmost, find midpoint. Both of these did not return the perfect center because I'm relying on the center to scale a polygon. I want to scale my polygons so I may put a border around them. What is the best way to find the centroid of a polygon given that the polygon may be concave, convex and have many many sides of various lengths. Thanks
