  Hello everybody! I'm new to javascript and cant get this little thing to work. • If statement question iphone?

  I am creating a game where where you complete shapes and the area gets filled in. However, if there is an enemy bird within your shape, it will not fill in. I want to make it so that if you do trap a bird within your shape, you will lose a life. How can I write an if statement that pretty much says if the below code doesn't take place, then you lose a life. • vector related memory allocation question

  hi all, I am encountering the following bug. I have a class Foo . Instances of this class are stored in a std::vector vec of class B. in class Foo, I am creating an instance of class A by allocating memory using new and deleting that object in ~Foo(). the code compiles, but I get a crash at the runtime. If I disable delete my_a from desstructor of class Foo. The code runs fine (but there is going to be a memory leak).   I am trying to build a website with mysql and php. This is the first site I have attempted so I want to write a little plan and get some feedback. The site allows users to add some text in a text field as a “comment”. Once the comment has been entered into the site it is added to the database where it can be voted for by other users. When a new comment has been added to the database it needs to create a new page, e.g. www.xxxxx.com/commentname or www.xxxxxx.com/?id=99981. There will be a list of "Comments" in the database along with the number of votes for each comment. The home page will have two functions. 1) Allow users to add a "comment" 2) Display two tables, each with 20 rows containing most "popular comments" and "recent comments" Each comment will generate its one page where the comment will be displayed. Here users can read the comment and Vote for the comment if they wish. Please help me out by explaining how to do the following. -Generate a new page whenever a comment is added to the database -Add a vote to the vote count in the comment database. -Display the top 20 most popular comments as per number of votes.

  I am trying to finish a java program that uploads a file from a client machine to a webserver. The java program is executed with a bat script. I need to pass in a file name to the java program somehow since the filename is different every time. Or can i somehow use %1 instead of the filepath? I dont know.

  I have SQL Server 2008 SP2. I noticed that DBs by default have Properties | Options | Miscellaneous | ANSI Padding Enabled = FALSE. However, this BOL article warns against setting it to off (no reason given). Further, this article states this feature is going to be deprecated. I have two questions: What is the "problem" with having it off for current work (future deprecation aside)? Why is it defaulted to FALSE when BOL says the default is ON, and should this setting therefore be changed?

The sr object is not in scope in ErrHandler so sr.Close() cannot be called. Does the Using block cleanup any resources automatically even if there is an error?

  I've been getting into some assembly lately and its fun as it challenges everything i have learned. I was wondering if i could ask a few questions When running an executable, does the entire executable get loaded into memory? From a bit of fiddling i've found that constants aren't really constants? Is it just a compiler thing? const int i = 5; _asm { mov i, 0 } // i is now 0 and compiles fine So are all variables assigned with a constant value embedded into the file as well? Meaning: int a = 1; const int b = 2; void something() { const int c = 3; int d = 4; } Will i find all of these variables embedded in the file (in a hex editor or something)? If the executable is loaded into memory then "constants" are technically using memory? I've read around on the net people saying that constants don't use memory, is this true?

  here how it's goes: You have an array size n and a constant k (whatever) you can assume the the array of int type tho it kind be of whatever type but just for the clearane let assume it's an integer. Describe an algorithm that finds if there is an element/s that repeat itself at least n/k times... if there is return one - do it in linear time running O(n) Imortent: now the catch do this algorithm or even pseuo-code using a constant usage of memory and running over the array only TWICE!!!

  Hi all, I am a C++ newbie trying to use a map so I can get constant time lookups for the find() method. The problem is that when I use an iterator to go over the elements in the map, elements do not appear in the same order that they were placed in the map. Without maintaining another data structure, is there a way to achieve in order iteration while still retaining the constant time lookup ability? Please let me know. • Watir question regarding selecting a hidden dropdown.

  Hi, I have two dropdowns, the second dropdown does not show until a choice is made from the first one. Using watir, i can select the first dropdown, and when i watch it, the second one becomes active, but it cannot select it. i just tried the regular select_list using name and id.   I am using Symfony 1.3.2 and I have a page that uses a partial from another module. I have two modules: 'foo' and 'foobar'. In module 'foo', I have an 'index' action, which uses a partial from the 'foobar' module. so foo/indexSuccess.php looks something like this: Some data here ? I want to cache 'part2' of my foo/indexSuccess.php page, because it is very expensive (slow). I want the cache to have a lifetime of about 10 minutes. In apps/frontend/modules/foo/config/cache.yml I need to know how to cache 'part2' of the page (i.e. the [very expensive] partial part of the page. can anyone tell me what entries are required in the cache.yml file?

  I am trying to get Python running with swig to do C/C++. I am running the tutorial here, 'building a python module'. When I do the call gcc -c example.c example_wrap.c -I /my_correct_path/python2.5 I get an error: my_correct_path/python2.5/pyport.h:761:2: error: #error "LONG_BIT definition appears wrong for platform (bad gcc/glibc config?)." example_wrap.c: In function 'SWIG_Python_ConvertFunctionPtr': example_wrap.c:2034: warning: initialization discards qualifiers from pointer target type example_wrap.c: In function 'SWIG_Python_FixMethods': example_wrap.c:3232: warning: initialization discards qualifiers from pointer target type It actually does create an example.o file, but it doesn't work. I am using python2.5 not 2.1 as in the example, is this a problem? The error (everything else is just a 'warning') says something about wrong platform. This is a 64bit machine; is this a problem? Is my gcc configured wrong for my machine? How do I get past this? UPDATE: I am still having problems. How do I actually implement this "fix"?

  Hi All I am wondering if someone would be such an expert in guice that he even would know how to implement that : I have an injection annotation (@ConfParam)with some parameters , like that : class TestClass { private final int intValue; @Inject public TestClass(@ConfParam(section = "test1", key = "1") int intValue{ this.intValue = intValue; } public int getIntValue() { return intValue; } } The ConfParam is my custom annotation. Now , when the injection value is requested , I would like guice to create a dynamic binding, to resolve the value. For that binding I will need the parameters inside the annotation. Some example could be , I will have to look in the database in some table where the section is ? and the key is ?. All the trouble is that the data is not available when the injector is created and could be also be added at runtime. Ps. I static solution is easy. ( just have a look at the Names class)

• MongoDB: embedding performance question

  I just started learning MongoDB, and I really like the idea of embedding collections instead of referencing them. MongoDB's documentation recommends to use embedding if performance is needed. I just thought about a simple forum model. Let's say, every board category has several boards, every board has several topics, and every topic has several messages. All of these collections are embedded. After some time the size of the board category will be huge. Way more than the 2MB limit. Does this mean that there's a flaw in this design?
