    This is my assembly program which is just a function to swap *x *y. So first argument from main is address of x which is in 8(%ebp) and second one is address of y is in 12(%ebp). The program does swap x and y. I need 7 lines for doing this. can you make it 6 lines and there is a condition you can use only %eax, %ecx, and %edx 3 registers. I think about it so much, but I can't make it 6 lines. There must be a way, isn't it?     Would it be possible to do something like the following in c#? Basically TParent and TChildren should be types of the class A but not necessairly have the same types that were passed in. I know this may sound confusing but I want to strongly type the children and parents of a particular object, but at the same time they must be of the same type. Because TParent inherits from A this would imply that it requires type parameters that inherit from A but using potentially different types. public class A<TParent, TChildren> where TParent : A where TControls : A { TParent Parent; List<TChildren> Children; } or more easily seen here: public class A<TParent, TChildren> where TParent : A<?, ?> where TChildren : A<?, ?> { TParent Parent; List<TChildren> Children; } I hope this isn't too confusing.     Hi, I'm just starting to use the TestHelpers in MvcContrib. I want to try and test an action method on my controller that itself tests if IsAjaxRequest() is true. I've used the same code that is shown in the TestHelper samples to set up the TestControllerBuilder _controller = new StarsController(); _builder = new TestControllerBuilder(); _builder.InitializeController(_controller); So that _controller has all the faked/mocked HttpContext inside it, which is really great. But what do I do now to force IsAjaxRequest() on the internally faked Request object to return true?

    Hi all I am trying to build a PHP class to check the username and password in MySql. I am getting "mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in D:\2010Portfolio\football\main.php on line 38" database has errors:" message. When I move my userQuery code out of my Class, it works fine. Only if it is inside my Class. I am not sure if the problem is that I don't build the connection to mysql inside my Class or not.   • Beginner assembly programming memory usage question

    I've been getting into some assembly lately and its fun as it challenges everything i have learned. I was wondering if i could ask a few questions When running an executable, does the entire executable get loaded into memory? From a bit of fiddling i've found that constants aren't really constants? Is it just a compiler thing? const int i = 5; _asm { mov i, 0 } // i is now 0 and compiles fine So are all variables assigned with a constant value embedded into the file as well? Meaning: int a = 1; const int b = 2; void something() { const int c = 3; int d = 4; } Will i find all of these variables embedded in the file (in a hex editor or something)? If the executable is loaded into memory then "constants" are technically using memory? I've read around on the net people saying that constants don't use memory, is this true?

    URL: Link (1) According to this wesbite .. you cannot implement Abstract classes but derive from them. This makes sense and I have read this many times. Like an interface, you cannot implement an instance of an abstract class, however you can implement methods, fields, and properties in the abstract class that can be used by the child class. But on MSDN URL: TextWriter CLass on MSDN TextWriter is an abstract class but it has two constructors defined ... and according to the MS 70-536 book, the following statement is valid: TextWriter tw = new File.CreateText("myFile.Txt") The static file class and it's CreateText method is fine by me as I have studied it on MSDN but can somebody explain this little contradiction I have found? Surely I am not the first? Why is instantaion of base abstract classes possible????

  • Python Multiprocessing Question

    My program has 2 parts divided into the core and downloader. The core handles all the app logic while the downloader just downloads urls. Right now, I am trying to use the python multiprocessing module to accomplish the task of the core as a process and the downloader as a process. The first problem I noticed was that if I spawn the downloader process from the core process so that the downloader is the child process and the core is the parent, the core process(parent) is blocked until the child is finished. I do not want this behaivor though. I would like to have a core process and a downloader process that are both able to execute their code and communicate between each other. example ... def main(): jobQueue = Queue() jobQueue.put("http://google.com) d = Downloader(jobQueue) p = Process(target=d.start()) p.start() if __name__ == '__main__': freeze_support() main() where Downloader's start() just takes the url out of the queue and downloads it. In order to have the 2 processes unblocked, would I need to create 2 processes from the parent process and then share something between them?

    I was watching the latest C9 lecture and noticed something interesting.. In his introduction to type_traits, Stephan uses the following (as he says, contrived) example: template <typename T> void foo(T t, true_type) { std::cout << t << " is integral"; } template <typename T> void foo(T t, false_type) { std::cout << t << " is not integral"; } template <typename T> void bar(T t) { foo(t, typename is_integral<T>::type()); } This seems to be far more complicated than: template <typename T> void foo(T t) { if(std::is_integral<T>::value) std::cout << "integral"; else std::cout << "not integral"; } Is there something wrong with the latter way of doing it?     Dear Guys, I have used the following statement to get the GNUPlot plot a grah for me: plot "force.dat" using 1:2 title "Detroit" with lines, \ "force.dat" u 1:3 t "US Avergae" w linepoints and the "force.dat" looks like 2005 0 0 2006 104 51 2007 202 101 It draws nice graph for me.However,I don't like the X-axis,because it is labelled as 2005,2005.5,2006,2006.5,2007..etc. However,those are year identifiers,I only want the 2005,2006,2007 etc,how could I get rid of the 2005.5,2006.5 etc labels in my GNUPlot graph? Thank you very much for your ideas.

Or is memcached client going to query all memcached servers?

    So I have 3 classes. Abstract class A Class B extends class A independent Class C In class D that contains the main method, I create a list of instances of class B List<B> b = methodCall(); // the method returns a list of instances of class B Now in class C I have one method that is common to both A and B, and hence I don't want to duplicate it. I want to have one method that takes as input an instance of class A, as follows: public void someMethod(List<A> a) However, when I do: C c = new C(); c.someMethod(b); I get an error that some-method is not applicable for the argument List<B>, instead it's expecting to get List<A>. Is there a good way to fix this problem? Many thanks!

    Given that I have an instance of Fruit with some properties set, and I want to get those properties into a new Pear instance (because this particular Fruit happens to have the qualities of a pear), what's the best way to achieve this effect?
