  • How can I connect my USB (HP) printer in 10.4, which can't be discovered and worked in 9.x

    My printer was working under 9.x. It is a an hp photosmart C3100 series. When I open the Admin- printing. no local printers are found. I try to add via other (My local choices are Serial and other). I have tried many uri's - ipp://localhost:631/ipp, http://localhost/ipp, localhost, 127.0.0.1, etc... None have worked. Under the networked I have tried JetDirect, using localhost and 127.0.0.1 and port 631. I have tried many options under IPP with different variants in the host trying to verify a printer. No luck. I tried LPD/LPR with localhost and tried the probe. no luck. I tried the cups admin via localhost:631 and that didn't work. On the old version its simply found the local printer, I might have picked the driver, I can't remember but it was the photosmart c3100 series that was working. I just can't get 10.4 to print.

    I'm trying to install Ubuntu touch to a nexus 4. I've followed all the steps so far, downloaded the packages and gotten the phone ready, but now I got to the step of connecting it to the computer [under 'Enable USB Debugging'], but it's not listed when I try $ adb devices (I tried the 'adb kill-server' command first too, but nothing is listed). I'm sure it's something simple I'm forgetting, but can anyone help please? I have debugging enabled. Running Trusty in VirtualBox on MacBook. Thanks!

    MAC OS X Lion 10.7.3 1) On host, I've created an authorized_keys file inside .ssh folder, by doing: touch authorized_keys 2) I've copy my public ssh key into host .ssh folder by doing: scp ~/.ssh/mykey.pub [email protected]:/home/userhost/.ssh/mykey.pub 3) I've place it's contents inside authorized files by doing: cat mykey.pub >> authorized_keys 4) Then I've removed the mykey.pub file: rm mykey.pub 5) On my terminal, locally, inside my ~/.ssh folder I made: ssh-add mykey (notice that it is without the pub extension); 6) I've closed and opened again the terminal. When I first connect to this host, it has being added to the *known_hosts* file inside ~/.ssh; I've pico known_hosts and the hash is there. Still, every time I connect by doing: ssh [email protected] it requests a password ! What am I missing here ? UPDATE: I've done EVEN TWO MORE THINGS here: 7) Set your key to be the default identity - if it doesn't exist, create; touch ~/.ssh/config and place inside the following line: IdentityFile ~/.ssh/yourkeyname *id_rsa is normally your default key. You should switched to your key. This tells that the outgoing ssh connections should use this as a default identity.* 8) Add a bash process to your ssh-agent: ssh-agent bash ssh-add ~/.ssh/yourkeyname Lisinge answer helped but it's not definitive. If we restart our machine, the password gets prompted again!!! How can we debug this? What can we do here? How can we check where is this process failing ? UPDATE 2: If I use: ssh -v -i <keyfile> [email protected] I get among other things: OpenSSH_5.6p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8r 8 Feb 2011 Warning: Identity file yourkeyname not accessible: No such file or directory. This message refers to what? The identify file is not accessible on the localhost, or it's not accessible on the remote host ? Please advice

    I'm trying to install programs/files from the getdeb repo but get a "check your internet connection" error. Programs than I've tried include Qbittorrent and Mozilla-Plugin-VLC.     As I understand it, Apple does not do currency exchanges when they pay the app developers, they just forward the 70% share in the currency the customers bought it. So, if an app is available in different markets, the developer receives payments in different currencies. Is there a way to enter one bank account for every currency? For example, I'd like to set up a bank account in EUR for payments in EUR, one in GBP for payments in GBP, and likewise for USD etc. If all payments are going to the same bank account, my bank charges high conversion rates every time a payment in a 'foreign' currency comes in.

  • I am getting disconnected from DSL modem and can't connect unless I restart.

    I am using Ubuntu very recently. My DSL connection with the modem is working fine but after certain idle time the modem connection is getting disconnected and I am not getting the icons to reconnect. If I go to System Settings-- Network, it is showing "Network cable is unplugged". It works fine if i reboot. This is a sudden problem and no configuration has been altered. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with latest updates.

    I'm trying hard to switch to Linux from Windows because of my engineering project. Unfortunately, everything is against that change! Before I have installed Broadcom STA proprietary drivers, I was seeing on NetworkManager and nm-applet only local radio-internet-access networks. After I installed Broadcom STA, I see my neighbor's wireless network (channel 11, WEP) Neither before nor after the installation is own wireless network available. Computer: Asus Lamborghini VX6 Ubuntu: 12.04 LTS 64-bit Router: ASUS N55U (A1) with newest AsusWRT firmware Network: Channel 5 (tried also 10 and 11, both on 20 and 40MHz bands), WPA2 Personal, 2,4 + 5 GHz (what is not very important, 'cause the wlan card in VX6 is only 2,4GHz). Network works fine on Windows, also through D-Link repeater on the other floor. Unfortunately, same network is invisible to Ubuntu on same machine. I have tried some combinations with other GUIs but it did not work. Are there any better drivers for Ubuntu? I need that network badly, but I'm an Ubuntu newbie, so I don't know how to solve that problem. Please help.

  • WIFI looses connection with AR9285 - have to disconnect / connect to regain internet?

    I have a G73JW laptop using Ubuntu 12.04. It has an Atheros AR9285 card. While wifi seems to work fine most of the time, about every hour or two it will loose the connection to the internet. The connection will appear to be connected still to the wireless router, but internet access is gone. Disconnecting and reconnecting to the access point solves the problem, as does disabling and reenabling the adapter via the hardware keyboard shortcut. How might this be solved so the connection is stable and doesn't drop?   • Dell Vostro 1510 can't connect to wireless--how can I fix this?

    I'm having some trouble with my Dell Vostro 1510. I installed wubi on it two days ago and I've only been able to use the Internet with an ethernet cable. The network seems to definitely recognize that the wireless--even other peoples' wireless--is there, but it can't manage to get on. I'll post the lpsci here, so that you can see the Broadcom card I'm working with.   • How do I connect to and factory reset a Catalyst 3560 Switch?

    My company just bought another company. In their server room they had some older hardware, which I would like to repurpose. One of these is a Cisco Switch: C3560G-48TS-S. I found some instructions about this switch here but this is not a guide for a beginner. I have no idea how to connect to this thing to begin running the commands. It says Configure the PC terminal emulation software for 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control. But I can't find anything on how to do this (assuming with telnet?) or even what program to use. I also don't know how to find the IP address of the device to connect to it. My research also says once I get in there, I need to run clear config all Is this the right command? Also, what if I can't get the username and password for these devices? Is there some way to factory reset (my only experience is with devices that have a hardware reset button) EDIT: I should note that when I push the button on the front the three lights blink, which according to the documentation indicated the switch is configured and "not available for express setup"

    What I'm trying to do: Connect to the internet without registering But! Here's my problem: I can't connect. I used to be able to, now when I try to connect it says "Server not found." I can connect just fine on my other Laptop. I did a test as well. I used a LAN USB adapter and could connect fine, then now I can't connect again. Possibly because I am using uTorrent to download stuff, but I want to connect again Is there anyway I can use some sort of "virtual adapter"-type of connection where it masks my actual adapter?     My company's corporate network requires me to set a network proxy to access the net, but when I am anywhere else, I don't need it. The proxy settings in Ubuntu (System - Preferences - Proxy server) allowed me to create "locations" that I can manually select. Then I have a "default" location (with no proxy) and a "work" location (with my company's proxy in it). Is there a way to make Ubuntu automatically select the "work" location based on the connection I'm using? I thought I could use the IP subnet (very specific) to detect where I am, but I have no idea how to set it up... Edit: I really need to have the proxy settings set at the system level. All my network connections (IMAP, SMTP, chat, etc) need to go through the proxy. Not only the web browser.

    I'm using c++ and D3D11 and I'm trying to create a (pretty) large terrain, lets say 4096x4096, maybe larger. I've got the basics of terrain creation and already split it up into chunks. But, when I'm rendering them (every chunk has its own vertex and index buffer, as well as its own heightmap), there are still little pieces missing between them. I read a lot about LOD(Level Of Detail) and GMM(Geometry Mipmap), but I can't really implement the theory I read.     I wrote code in android for connecting to server with ssl, I use BKS algorithm, I can create socket but when I send data to switch, I get this error javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found. It is wonderful for me, I can connect to another server in local network with another BKS file and I can get response from that server, but with correct certificate in outside network, I cannot connect to another server, is it possible with network problem?
