  This works: $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT HERE"); $boxRow = mysql_fetch_array($customerBox); $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT AGAIN"); while($item = mysql_fetch_assoc($customerBox)) { foreach ($item as $columnName = $value) { if (empty($value)) { print $columnName; } } } This does not: $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT HERE"); $boxRow = mysql_fetch_array($customerBox); while($item = mysql_fetch_assoc($customerBox)) { foreach ($item as $columnName = $value) { if (empty($value)) { print $columnName; } } } Why? I guess I don't understand how variables work yet.

• Bash, Concatenating 2 strings to reference a 3rd variable

  I have a bash script I am having some issues with concatenating 2 variables to call a 3rd. Here is a simplification of the script, but the syntax is eluding me after reading the docs. server_list_all="server1 server2 server3"; var1 = "server"; var2 = "all"; echo $(($var1_list_$var2)); This is about as close as I get to the right answer, it acknowledges the string and tosses an error on tokenization. syntax error in expression (error token is "server1 server2 server3.... Not really seeing anything in the docs for this, but it should be doable. EDIT: Cleaned up a bit

• bash—Better way to store variable between runs?

  I've made a bash script which I run every hour with crontab, and I need to store one variable so that I can access it the next time I run it. The script changes the variable every time it runs, so I can't hardcode it in. Right now I am writing it to a txt file and then reading it back. Is there a better way to do it than this? And the way I am reading the txt file is something I found on here, I don't understand it, and it's kinda clunky. Is there not a built in command for this? Anyway, here's the applicable code, with some of the variables changed to make it easier to read. while read x; do var=$x done < var.txt # Do some stuff, change var to a new value echo $var > var.txt The variable is only a single integer, so the text file feels overkill.

• using jquery $.post() for returning multiple values

  Hi all I am trying to use a $.post() in the following way: $.post("file.php", { file_id: $(this).val()}, function(data){...} The file.php then does a database query and returns an array with a title, description and image reference. What I want to do then is be able to update the .val() for form fields for each. I understand how to do this on a single variable, it would just be the following: $.post("file.php", { file_id: $(this).val()}, function(data){ $('#title').val(data); } But, how do I get the data returned to be recognizable in jquery as either separate variables or as an array? • PHP Losing variable data

  Hi, I'm having an issue with PHP losing data in a variable. There is quite a bit of data in the variable, because it basically contains a binary file, but I'm wondering if this is cause for it to completely lose it's information. Looking at a snippet from my code which is used to deal with email attachments: var_dump($data) if (array_key_exists('filename', $params) || array_key_exists('name', $params)) { var_dump($data) ... } The first var_dump gives the desired output of the file: "string(283155) " --Apple-Mail-5-930065543 ... etc while the second gives an output of: string(0) "" ... string(0) "" Any idea why this is happening? Does PHP just drop data in variables if they are really large? (I didn't think so, as I've never had this problem before) If so, any workaround? Thanks!

• PHP Undefined index - Occuring when the variable has a value in it

  I have the following code that is being used to successfully upload images: $fileName = $_FILES['file']['name']; $fileSize = $_FILES['file']['size']; $fileType = $_FILES['file']['type']; $fileTmp = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; list($origWidth, $origHeight) = getimagesize($fileTmp); The catch is I'm getting an 'Undefined index' on each line. I have print_r($_FILES) just before this code and each array variable exists and I've echo out varibles like $fileName and can see each has a value. Also I have put this before this code block and it makes no difference: $fileName = $fileSize = $fileType = $fileTmp = ''; Any suggestions how I can ensure these variables are defined? thankyou

The build target is not integrated into the default build process and has to be started by hand.   I am referring specifically to the jQuery Autocomplete v1.1 plugin by Jörn Zaefferer [source: http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/] as there seems to be quite a few variations of this plugin. I'm trying to pass additional parameters to the server when the user starts typing because I have multiple fields that I want autocomplete to provide suggestions for. In addition to the query, I want to send the input name attribute to the server but I can't seem to use $(this).attr('name') within the extraParams.   I have a custom MembershipProvider and a custom RoleProvider. I created the custom MembershipProvider by creating a SimpleMembershipProvider class which implements the MembershipProvider class. After that I changed my web.config and works. So I used the same approach creating a custom RoleProvider. Nothing special, just creating a SimpleRoleProvider class which implements the RoleProvider class. But then when I changed the web.config file and runs the solution I get the following error message: Web.Config <membership defaultProvider="DashboardMembershipProvider"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="SimpleMembershipProvider" type="Dashboard.Web.Controlling.Account.SimpleMembershipProvider" /> </providers> </membership> <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="DashboardRoleProvider"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="DashboardRoleProvider" type="Dashboard.Web.Controlling.Account.DashboardRoleProvider" /> </providers> </roleManager> Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request.   I want to make developing on my new projects easier, and I wanted a bare bones very simple template engine solution. I looked around on the net and everything is either too bloated, or makes me cringe. My HTML files will be like so: <html> <head> <title>{PAGE_TITLE}</title> </head> <body> <h1>{PAGE_HEADER}</h1> <p>Some random content that is likely not to be parsed with PHP.</p> </body> </html> Obviously, I want to replace {PAGE_TITLE} and {PAGE_HEADER} with something I set with PHP. Like this: <?php $pageElements = array( '{PAGE_TITLE}' => 'Some random title.', '{PAGE_HEADER}' => 'A page header!' ); ?> And I'd use something like str_replace and load the replaced HTML into a string, then print it to the page? This is what I'm on the path towards doing at the moment... does anyone have any advice or a way I can do this better? Thanks.

This object must not be renamed by the Google Closure Compiler as Google Analytics looks for a variable with this specific name. • Custom Preloader in Flex 4?

  Has anyone successfully implemented a custom preloader in Flex 4? In my experience, when I specify a custom preloader using the preloader="com.foo.MyPreloader" in the Application tag, the preloader does not display until the SWF is completely downloaded, defeating the purpose of the preloader! Perhaps this is a bug in the still-beta Flex 4 framework?
