• Building my first ASP.NET WebForms application problem

  Hi I have recently started to learn C#/ASP.NET WebForms and after reading two books I thought I was ready to create my first web application. Problem is I could not have been more wrong. Although I am not quite a beginner as a programmer and have done some programming in Java (a Monopoly game), JavaScript (using jQuery), and PHP (create templates for WordPress), I never really created something that is database driven, and I can't seem to figure where to start. I am very confident in my HTML/CSS/jQuery skills, so that is not the problem. My end goal after becoming comfortable in ASP.NET WebForms is to learn MVC, ADO.NET, and the Entity Framework, and start a career as a .NET developer. I would like if someone could tell me some tutorials that build ASP.NET WebForms applications, such as a blog, so I can see what are the steps in creating an ASP.NET WebForms database driven application. I already have to projects in mind for ASP.NET. One is building a blog and the other building a job board.

• Techniques to increase logic at programming

  I am into programming since last 3 years. But I seems to be lost in it. I am not able to get good at it even though I code everyday. suppose I solve one problem, I will wander from solution to solution and implement some other solution. I cant focus much. I get many defects for the code I write. I afraid of code I dont know why if I dont finish it on time my boss will fire me etc. I enjoy coding but not all the time. How to increase patience? I am mainly familiar with basic servlet applications. I have a strong beginner knowledge of Maven and Ant.   Most of programming languages (Server-side languages for web development) needs a learning curve and requires some time to learn. However, I'm sure there is a difference between them. So, for example you can master the 'X' language in less time than the 'Y' language. I'm a beginner in web development, meaning that I just know HTML and CSS and now want to choose the right tool for building dynamic sites. What I'm looking for is a language that is easy to master in less time than other languages. So, is there a language that can suit my needs? If so, please let me know about what should I learn in it?   What pros or cons should a beginner be aware of when deciding between a 2d game engine (like Slick2D/Flixel/FlashPunk) and a 3d engine (like Unity) for 2d game development? I am just getting started in indie game development, though I have dabbled a bit with Game Maker, Flash, and XNA in the past. I've heard a lot of positive things about Unity, and its cross-platform nature makes it appealing, but as I understand, it's a 3d engine at its core. For a strictly 2d game, are there any compelling reasons to work with a 3d engine like Unity? Or would it just add unneeded complexity to my initial learning experience?

  I'm a beginner .NET programmer (C# and IronPython). I've come across WatiN .NET library which will show handy for what I'm trying to do. The website claims that it is compatible with any .NET language, so I assume it's compatible with IronPython as well. How do I go about installing it? Their website only has some instructions, using NUget in Visual Studio. I neither use Visual Studio nor am I interested in it. How and where would I put the downloaded files in order to make it work with IronPython?

  Situation: I've some scripts that simulate user-activity on desktop. Therefore I've defined a few cases (workflows) and implemented them in Python. I've also written some classes for interacting with the users' software (e.g. web browser etc.). Problem: I'm a total beginner in software design / architecture (coding isn't a problem). How could I structure what I described above? Providing a library which contains all the workflows as functions, or a separate class/module etc. for each workflow? I want to keep the the workflows simple. The complexity should be hidden in the classes for interacting with the users' software.   I am looking for beginner books into PHP 5 (Maybe with a bit into MySQL?) and HTML 5. I started self-teaching myself PHP although it has become a problem as the tutorials online are either outdated or just crap. I also managed to start learning with very little HTML knowledge so I am looking to brush up on my HTML knowledge and get more into PHP. I also am unsure weather I should be looking into XHTML or HTML5, or both so an answer to that would be splendid. I just want to become more self-sufficient and less reliant on other for my programming needs. I've searched Google for books but I'm just not sure which one is the "best" for me and makes for good practice and habits which brings me here.

  Beginner question. Synopsis: my water effects does something that causes the drawing of my sky sphere to throw an exeption when run in full screen. The exception is: XNA Framework HiDef profile requires TextureFilter to be Point when using texture format Vector4. This happens both when I start in full screen directly or switch to full screen from windowed. It does NOT happen, however, if I comment out the drawing of my water. So, what in my water effect can possibly cause the drawing of my sky sphere to choke???

  I am a Cs Student, enthusiastic about programming. C is my first programming language that I learned. (Never been exposed to programming, data structures, algorithms before) I failed the exam because I studied on my own and didn't know how to use windows non standard libraries like conio.h. (I had to draw circles, etc using get x and get y). I told them but they just don't care. What do I do because for a beginner this is very confusing? Do I continue to study ansi c on my own, or should I study non standard c? Should I do them in parallel? *I did use the search bar but found nothing useful that could help me.

  I did an apt-get dist-upgrade, now everytime I do something using apt-get, e.g. installing something, it gives me that there are errors while handling the following packages: linux-image-extra-3.13.0-35-generic linux-image-generic linux-generic My system still works correctly, but is this normal? And what should I do? Should I do anything? Have I done the wrong thing by doing a dist-upgrade? (Beginner-like instructions please, I'm not an expert. Using Xubuntu 14.04.)

  a friend of my friend has started a small firm and given me the responsibility to erect all the IT infrastructure required? I'm basically a windows guy that too on the developer side. But recently I fell in love with Linux n dared to dream about becoming a Linux admin and play with Linux, virtualization, cloud etc. So, first I'll be running a pilot project of creating mail/ftp/web servers required on a Linux based server. And Ubuntu is the ideal choice for a Linux beginner right? my question is simple: if a commercial organization is using Ubuntu for it's day to day desktop and server(mail,ftp etc) uses but has technicians which can provide support internally then do the organization needs to pay for Ubuntu? If yes then could you please suggest a Debian based distro on the lines of CentOS. Also can I use the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit desktop version instead of the no gui server version for the server machine(gui can be helpful for a windows guy like me) thanks.

  I'm kind of a beginner to Java and OOP and I didn't quite get the whole concept of seeing a real world problem and translating it to classes and code. For example, I was reading a book on UML and at the beginning the author takes the example of a tic tac toe game and says: "In this example, it's natural to see three classes: Board, Player and Position." Then, he creates the methods in each class and explains how they relate. What I can't understand is how he thought all this. So, where should I start to learn how to see a real world problem and then "translate" it into code?

Developer shouldn't have to code for each and every page or report. But, he can do it very easily by just configuring it using the framework provided. Some nice examples of it is SAP and Tally. I know a bit of Perl and Python and I am looking to learn programming in more depth so that once I get the hang of it I can start developing applications and then websites.
