• Apache Errordocument (custom 503 page) works intermittently

  We have Apache 2.2 running on Windows 2k3 and 2k8 R2 as a reverse proxy to downstream applications. Some of these applications may go offline during off-peak hours so we've implemented a custom 503 page like so: ErrorDocument 503 /error/serverTimeout.html ErrorDocument 504 /error/serverTimeout.html (the error directory is in Apaches's htdocs folder) If I make these changes, restart apache and then access the down application on firefox I see the custom page as expected. I then access it using my IE browser, it also works. If I close my IE browser and access it again, I get Apache's standard "Service Temporarily Unavailable" message instead of my custom page. Once I receive the standard error message, I never get the custom page again until I restart Apache. I've put the server on debug and I can't see any difference between the requests which return the custom error page and the requests which return the standard error message. Is there some weird proxy setting which is messing with the errordocument configuration? Any ideas?

• Cam being used by another application

  On my laptop doesn't work any camera. I get error: "Camera being used by another application"". I don`t known which program using it. I tried use software like "SplitCam" or "ManyCam". Also I reinstalled K-lite codec to newest, but still getting this error. I get the same error when I turn my Canon video camera to laptop using firewire cable. • Hough transformation for iris detection in opencv

  Hi, I wrote the code for iris detection and it works well. Also I can crop the eye location of a face. Now I want to detect the iris of the crop image with applying the Hough transformation(cvHoughCircle). However when I try this procedure, the system is not able to find any circle on the image. Maybe, the reason is, there are noises in the image but I don't think it's the reason. So, how can I detect the iris ? I have the code of binary thresholding maybe I can use it, but I don't know how to do ?? If anyone helps I really appreciated. thx :)

• Android: Custom ListAdapter extending BaseAdapter crashes on application launch.

  Data being pulled from a local DB, then mapped using a cursor. Custom Adapter displays data similar to a ListView. As items are added/deleted from the DB, the adapter is supposed to refresh. The solution attempted below crashes the application at launch. Any suggestions? • GameQuery Collision Detection

  I am having a problem with GameQuery (jQuery) collision detection Tthey just never seem to fire?!? I have checked all the .arrow's exist and the same for the .bot's but it just never seems to call the function I have the below code in my main callback: $(".bot").each(function(){ $(this).collision(".arrow").each(function(){ alert("Test"); }); }); Do you have any idea why this would just simply be doing nothing?   My project is a computer vision java application which should implement the following : A web interface through which the form entry+images(for example a student data) will be stored into a database(Mysql) & images into directory common to my java application. Then the data & images can be retrieved from my java Gui application and I can perform the following operations of image processing through OpenCV. Actually,I want to run the face detection on images retrieved and discard the false entries(no proper face). Also the application user/admin can search an image based on text search(By Id) or By another reference image using face recognition. I am well familiar with Java but the problem is that I need a guidance on how to organise it in a stepwise manner(links appreciated).OpenCv,Php and mySql are really messy.I know doing the openCV stuff within java is real overhead but i really want to do it.But If there is any suggestion to do it elseway please guide me.So any kind of help is a ray of hope for me. • VS2010 profiler/leak detection

  Anyone know of a profiler and leak detector that will work with VS2010 code? Preferably one that runs on Win7. I've searched here and in google. I've found one leak detector that works (Memory Validator) but I'm not too impressed. For one thing it shows a bunch of menu leaks and stuff which I'm fairly confident are not real. I also tried GlowCode but it's JUST a profiler and refuses to install on win7. I used to use AQtime. It had everything I needed, memory/resource leak detection, profiling various things, static analysis, etc. Unfortunately it gives bogus results now. My main immediate issue is that VS2010 is saying there are leaks in a program that had none in VS2005. I'm almost certain it's false positives but I can't seem to find a good tool to verify this. Memory Validator doesn't show the same ones and the reporting of leaks from VS doesn't seem rational.

• Surface Detection in 2d Game?

  I'm working on a 2D Platform game, and I was wondering what's the best (performance-wise) way to implement Surface (Collision) Detection. So far I'm thinking of constructing a list of level objects constructed of a list of lines, and I draw tiles along the lines. ( http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/1704/lines.png ). I'm thinking every object holds the ID of the surface that he walks on, in order to easily manipulate his y position while walking up/downhill. Something like this: //Player/MovableObject class MoveLeft() { this.Position.Y = Helper.GetSurfaceById(this.SurfaceId).GetYWhenXIs(this.Position.X) } So the logic I use to detect "droping/walking on surface" is a simple point (player's lower legs)-touches-line (surface) check (with some safety approximation - let`s say 1-2 pixels over the line). Is this approach OK? I`ve been having difficulty trying to find reading material for this problem, so feel free to drop links/advice.

  I have a script that I want to run via command line. In setting up the command to run, I am trying to do a detection for the MySQL path. When I type "which mysql" in my terminal, I get an answer. When I run PHP -- $path = exec('which mysql'); -- I get nothing. If I do the same command for "which php" I get an answer, but not MySQL. Why would I get a response from terminal and not from PHP CLI on this?

  I have a voice application that would be much-improved if there was the ability to use a "trigger word" to start recording audio. I don't need a full speech-text engine, just the ability to reliably/efficiently detect the trigger word. I am wondering if there are any specialized speech engines that support this specific use case, or any libraries/methods to developing such a single-purpose detection engine. Ideally I'd like it to work in noisy environments, but it can be trained for a single user's voice. Pointers to research papers / topics would also be appreciated so I know what to ask for.

  Hi, i am trying to do collision detection in visual C++ for a racing game. I found this site http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article735.asp which seems like the thing i need. However i have no idea how to implement this in my code. The idea is that the players race around the course trying to find a tent with a red flag on it. When the collide witht this tent the game displays "player 1 wins" or whoever wins and then quits the game after 3 seconds. • How do I create a permanent Bash alias?

  I would like to create an alias to rm command in order to have a confirmation message after executing this command. So I am creating an alias like this alias rm='rm -i'. But as far as I know this is a temporary alias and it lives until you close the terminal. As it is explained here to save alias permanently I need to execute ~/.bash_aliases or ~/.bashrc commands in terminal and add my alias there. But when I execute ~/.bashrc I get following error message : bash: /home/bakhtiyor/.bashrc: Permission denied When I run ~/.bash_aliases I get another error message like this: bash: /home/bakhtiyor/.bash_aliases: File or directory doesn't exist. What is the actual problem and how can I solve it?

• How can I reply to email by sending a delivery failure message?

  Occasionally, I receive unwanted emails, particularly low-volume spam, or email messages falsely addressed to me (possibly due to typos). I don't want to spend the energy to write a personal message, but I do want to let the sender know that the message never arrived at its destination, and that resending it will be useless. In my opinion, a delivery error message to the sender will fill that need. So, the question is if there is an easy way to send error messages back to the sender. Is there any email client out there which supports sending delivery failure messages as a reply to incoming email -- ideally in one click? (Or, which can be configured to do so?) Alternatively, what is the best way to set up an environment that allows me to send delivery failure messages without too much effort per message sent?

• Arguments for or against using Try/Catch as logical operators

  I just discovered some lovely code in our companies app that uses Try-Catch blocks as logical operators. Meaning, "do some code, if that throws this error, do this code, but if that throws this error do this 3rd thing instead". It uses "Finally" as the "else" statement it appears. I know that this is wrong inherently, but before I go picking a fight I was hoping for some well thought out arguments. And hey, if you have arguments FOR the use of Try-Catch in this manner, please do tell. EDIT For any who are wondering, the language is C# and the code in question is about 30+ lines and is looking for specific exceptions, it is not handling ALL exceptions.

  I am in the beginning of programming an iOS app. Having read the Apple guides on how to deal with errors, I got the following most important points: Exceptions are for programmers Use NSError for the user Now, NSError is usually passed as out-argument which can then be used inside and has to be checked by the caller. However, I'm asking myself whether it is a good idea to use a global error handler, say a singleton which wraps around NSError and could be used to trigger errors and error handling from within the called function. Is there anything against that method or would it be a bad practice?
