    Hi all: I've got a method in my class only for testing purpose : private void printOut(String msg, Object value) { System.out.println(msg + value); } It is a wrapper method for System.out.println(); So I hope, with the use of Annotation, I can choose not to run this method during productive environment while still keep those diagnostic output ready if I am to switch back to debugging environment.     In a Django project, some cronjob programs are mainly used for administrative or analysis purposes, e.g. generating site usage stats, rotating user activities log, etc. We probably do not hope MySQL to cache queries in those programs to save memory usage and improve query cache efficiency. Is it possible to turn off MySQL query cache explicitly in those programs while keep it enabled for other parts including all views.py?

  • Hyper-v on 2012R2 startup gen1 vm causes the host to freeze up

    I've searched a lot to resolve the following issue, but nothing helped me. My problem is, that starting up a first-gen vm locks up the whole host. Only a hard reset helps. Second-gen vm starts and runs perfectly. The freezes happened on 3 different vms. FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Windows Server 2008R2, while Windows 8.1 on second gen config works perfectly. Im using this pc mainly as a workstation. No eventlog errors nor dumps are generated. My system: Windows Server 2012R2 FX-8350, non OC ASRock 870 Extreme R2 (Crappy board imho) 32GB DDR3 1866@1600 (My motherboard, against the "support" for 1866ram won't work with full speed) 120GB SSD 4.5TB Storage space device I dont think that its due to my system, because vmware workstation was running without problems. Did I forget to configure something? Any help is appreciated. P.S: Even deactivating C1E, C6, C&Q didnt work. P.P.S: With no virtual network adapter set, the system still locks up. Creating a first gen vm without any hdds and network and launching works. Attaching a boot dvd causes the host to freeze. The host freezes as the gen1 vm begins to boot, doesn't matter if from dvd or hdd

  • Can't get past bootcamp Windows logo, freezes immediately after picking boot partition -- Windows 7

    Hi, I had a fine install of Windows 7 alongside Snow Leopard. I had a power outage, and Windows restarted. When I booted via the "Hold Option" sceen, it started hanging at the grayscale "Windows logo" (squares) that comes up after picking the Windows drive from the bootcamp loader (the Windows version of the grayscale Apple logo when OS X loads). I think this happened once before, and installing rEFIt helped. I did that, but it continued to hang at the same point. I finally got fed up with it and erased the Windows partition via Disk Utility. I then reinstalled Windows 7 x64 from DVD to the fresh partition. Seemed fine. Ran Windows Update then restarted. FFFFFFFFF. Hangs in the same place. What can I do? Like I said, I already have rEFIt installed. Booting the Windows 7 install CD results in the same infinite loading error. I don't have a spare Snow Leopard disk handy.

    I've happily implemented v2 of Google maps to my site without a hitch, I also successfully perform a drive directions using GDirections.load(). What I need to do is stop the popup of the mini map when you select a particular step in the routing directions. So when the user clicks on say "step 3", instead of the default popup showing a mini map, I'd like to add a custom icon to that position. Hope it makes sense Thanks in advance guys.

    Hi Folks, I'm a beginner in silverlight so i hope i can get an answer that brings me some more light in the measure process of silverlight. I found an interessting flap out control from silverlight slide control and now I try to use it in my project. So that the slide out is working proper, I have to place the user control on a canvas. The user control then uses for itself the height of its content. I just wanna change that behavior so that the height is set to the available space from the parent canvas. You see the uxBorder where the height is set. How can I measure the actual height and set it to the border? I tried it with Height={Binding ElementName=notificationCanvas, Path=ActualHeight} but this dependency property has no callback, so the actualHeight is never set.   • Time Drift on VM servers, need a reliable solution

    We have some windows server 2008 VMware instances on multiple physical servers (hosted) and an application which requires the time to be synced across the server instances. Obviously, VMware has problems with this and we really have never gotten it working any better, we have setup the servers to poll for an NTP update every minute which mitigates the problem (in a fairly crude way). Except that every once in a while, the update will fail (because there's already too much drift) and then windows never does an NTP update afterwards which eventually allows the servers to drift far enough apart that our application breaks, and we notice. We are thinking about changing hosts to Xen servers on approximately the same setup, and I anticipate similar problems. can anyone tell me if Xen has the same time-drift issues VMware does, for guests? can anyone tell me what the best windows server settings are for syncing with an external NTP server to keep things in sync: how frequently do you recommend syncing? (assuming every minute) do you recommend running our own NTP server - even if it has to be on a virtual instance? (assuming not) is there any way to tell windows to sync with the NTP server no matter what the time difference is? any other suggestions for keeping windows servers time in sync?   • Word 2007 won't run, tries to reinstall, fails with error 1402.

    Okay, this problem has been plaguing this computer for a while now. We tried googling, and none of the answers found helped to solve the problem. So, I am now posting the answer here for posterity. Office 2007 Home/Student edition was installed on the computer, running Vista (32-bit). One day, Word just up and stopped working. All the other programs continued to operate as expected. But every time you would click the icon for Word, it would pop up an install dialog, with a message reading "Preparing to install...". After a few minutes of the little progress bar going and going, it errors out, and gives error 1402, something to the effect of unable to access registry key HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\.wll\.... Searching around, every answer i found had to do with reassigning the permissions on this key, giving full rights to SYSTEM or to Everyone, and propagating the changes down to all sub-keys. When ever this was attempted though, it would tell us that we were unable to access the key due to permissions, even though we had run regedit as Administrator and are logged on with an administrative account. We also tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it, as well as doing a repair install. Both these attempts also threw the same 1402 error. Also of note was that the executable for Word (winword.exe) was MIA and no longer to be found in the Office install directory.

  • Running a service with a user from a different domain not working

    I've been stuck on this for a while, not sure what permission I'm missing. I've got domain A and domain B, A trusts B, but B does not trust A. I'm trying to run a service in domain A with a user account from domain B and I keep getting Access is Denied. I'm using the FQDN after the username and the password is correct. The user account from domain B is a local administrator on the domain A server, the user account has the logon locally, and as a service permissions. Must. Get. This. Working. Update: I found something interesting in the logs I must have missed. This ought to get me pointed in the right direction. Event ID: 40961 - LsaSrv : The Security System could not establish a secured connection with the server ldap/{server fqdn/fqdn@fqdn} No authentication protocol was available. I've found a few fixes for 40961 but nothing has worked so far. I've verified reverse lookup zones. nslookup resolves the correct dc properly. still workin' at it. Upadte: In response to Evan; I ran " runas /env /user:ftp_user@fqdn "notepad" " then entered the users password and notepad came up. It seems to work successfully. This issue is now resolved. The problem is visible in the screenshot. Windows tries to use the UPN for the user account if you dig your user out of AD with the Browse button. This fails every time even with the right user and password. Simply using the SAM format (Domain\User) works. So simple, yet so annoying. Can't believe I missed this. Thanks to everyone who helped.

  • Only half of RAM is recognized by BIOS

    I got a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 mainboard. Some time ago I noticed that Windows only showed 2GB instead of 4GB. I don't know exactly what caused it anyway. I tried putting in each of the 4 x 1GB RAM modules one by one, and tried every slot one by one, until every stick and slot worked. However, then I tried adding one more at a time, and it kept showing 1GB, until I put in all 4, where it only showed 2 GB instead of 4 (in BIOS and windows 7 64bit). I tried replacing the BIOS battery since I've read that low battery could cause it. It didn't help though. I also bought 4GB new RAM (yes, it's supported, I checked it), and it's still the same, it only shows 2GB (or 3GB, when I put in 4 of the new and 2 of the old). I also did the latest BIOS update, and used default BIOS settings, but nothing of that helped. When my PC boots it shows "RAM modules used 2 and 3", when 4 sticks are in - or "0 and 1", when only 2 are in.

  • Windows Domain Chaos - Any Solving Approach

    we are running an old Window 2003 Server as Domain Controller (DC2003). To safely migrate to Windows 2008 R2 we added a 2008 R2 (DC2008R2) to the domain as domain controller (adprep etc.). After dcpromo on DC2008R2 everything seemed to be ok. The new DC appeared under the "Domain Controlelrs" node. It wasn't checked at this time, if DC2008R2 can REALLY act as domain controller. Later we tried to shutdown DC2003 and ran into a total mess with non functional Exchange and Team Foundation Services. After that I got the job to fix... First i thought it could be an Problem with DC2008R2. So I removed it as Domain Controller and installed a new Windows 2008 R8 Server DC2008R2-2. I ran into similar Problems. I tried a bunch of stuff, but nothign helped. I won't list it, maybe I made an mistake, so I'm willing to redo it with your suggestions. To have a starting point I tried the best practise analyser whicht ended up with 24 "Compatible" and 26 "Not Compatible" tests. From these 26 tests 19 read the same. (I'm translating from german, so that may to be the exact wording) Problem: Using the Best Practise Analyser for Active Directory Domain Services (Active Directory Domain Services Best Practices Analyzer, AD DS BPA) no data can be be gathered using the name of the forest and the domain controller DC2008R2-2. I appreciate any suggestions, this really bothers me.

  • Internet Troubles - PPPoE vs PPPoA?

    I have been having some internet troubles at home (ADSL2+ connection in Australia). We get random drop-outs from the authentication connection. It will keep the connection to the DSL service, but we lose authentication and either have to restart the router/modem (its combined, a Belkin one, not sure on model number) or unplug the phone cable, wait about 30 seconds and plug it in again. I've called the ISP (Telstra) a few times, but they only offer limited support when we dont use their supported hardware. Apparently something had happened on their side, they checked the box again (at least it sounded that simple), and told me it would be fine. It wasnt. I've replaced all the filters around the house, but that didnt help either. We do live a little bit away from the exchange (get a sync speed of about 3000/900), so I thought it could be due to line noise but that hasnt helped. Telstra allow both PPPoE and PPPoA connections (which I'm configuring through my router, dont have software on the PC side). I've been running PPPoA the whole time, would it make any difference changing it to PPPoE? If not, are there any other theories as to why we would be experiencing these drop-outs? It has been fine for at least 12 months, then suddenly started about 2 months ago.

  • Removing resource limits on Solaris 10

    How should one remove all potential artificial resource limitations for a process? I just saw a case where a server application consumed resources so that some limitation was hit. The other shells into the same server etc were all extremely slow (waiting for something to free up for them; ie. prstat starting 5 minutes). It wasn't CPU/memory related problem so I think it has got something to do with ulimits / projects. Already managed to set the maximum open files to 500 000 and it helped a little bit. However there is something else and I can not figure out what resource is maxed out. I can get some in-house administrator probably to check this but I would like to understand how I could make sure there shouldn't be any limitations! If you think I am going the wrong way (would be better to figure out what limitation should be specfically tuned etc) please feel free to point me to the correct way. I know technical stuff - it's just Solaris 10 that is giving me headache :/

    Eclipse Helios periodically starts running a job which displays "Computing additional info". During this time, Eclipse is very sluggish, bordering on unusable. What does this job do? Can I shut it off? I just hope that someone in the JDT team comes to sense and gets rid of it, make it go faster, or at the very least change it to something meaningful.

  • Centos Server/MySQL server problem

    Hello all, I currently run a website we get about 15,000-20,000 hits a day. We currently run a very active forum, that is hosted using Vbulletin software. We have 4.5 Million Posts, 80,000 Threads, with about 11,000 members of which just under a third is active all the time. Now I am running a Intel Xeon Quad Core (2.13Ghz) with 4GB of RAM, Centos 5.5 and running DirectAdmin on the box to manage it. I also run the current stable version of Apache, MySQL, and php. This is the only site that is hosted on this machine. Now during random times of day sometimes when it gets busy the server load can get to like 20, but this can also happen when we only have like 200 users active too. I dont understand what is causing these problems. Sometimes I get pages that can generate in .2 seconds other times it takes like 5-8 seconds. I have customized the my.cnf file and that has not helped out anything, I didnt know where else to turn so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank You In advance.
