  • External SWF to External SWF Timeline Communication, Flash, AS2

    - by jecca411
    Flash CS4, AS2 I have made an interactive tour. It can be seen here: http://www.92YTribeca.org/Tour click on the bottom image Each of the 4 sections are external swf and loaded on level 1. I want a button on one swf (floorplan) to load another swf (facility rentals) AND pinpoint a specific frame on the swf's timeline. I have tried many different ways, all end up loading the swf at the first frame and ignore the rest of the code talking about the timeline. I know I could split this swf up into more external swfs and get the result I want, but I would rather use code if I can. Is what I want to do possible? If so, how do I write the code? Thanks!

  • Anyone else unable to listen to uncaughtErrorEvent when loaded by another swf?

    - by aaaidan
    When I try to access the uncaughtErrorEvents dispatcher when loaded directly, everything works well. But when I try the same code when loaded by another swf I get a reference error. protected function onAddedToStage(e:Event):void { trace("Flash version: " + Capabilities.version); try { loaderInfo.uncaughtErrorEvents.addEventListener("uncaughtError", onUncaughtError); trace("YAY!"); } catch (e:Error) { trace(e); } } Output when loaded directly (in browser): Flash version: MAC 10,1,53,64 YAY! Output when loaded by another "loader" SWF: Flash version: MAC 10,1,53,64 ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property uncaughtErrorEvents not found on flash.display.LoaderInfo and there is no default value. If others can replicate this I'd be appreciative. EDIT: Also have tried this with stage.loaderInfo, instead of just loaderInfo. Same issue...

  • Flash -> ByteArray -> AMFPHP -> Invalid Image !??

    - by undefined
    Hi, Im loading images into Flash and using JPGEncoder to encode the image to a ByteArray and send this to AMF PHP which writes out the bytearray to a file. This all appears to work correctly and I can download the resulting file in Photoshop CS4 absolutely fine. When i try to open it from the desktop or open it back in Flash it doesnt work... Picasa my default image browser says "Invalid" Here is the code i use to write the bytearray to a file - $jpg = $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"]; file_put_contents($filename, $jpg); That's it ... I use the NetConnection class to connect and call the service, do I need to say Im sending jpg data? I assumed that JPGEncoder took care of that. How can I validate the bytearray before writing the file? Do I need to set MIME type or something .. excuse the slightly noob questions, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Thanks --------------------------------------- PART II ------------------------------------------ Here is some code - 1) load the image into Flash player item.load(); function _onImageDataLoaded(evt:Event):void { var tmpFileRef:FileReference=FileReference(evt.target); image_loader=new Loader ; image_loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, _onImageLoaded); image_loader.loadBytes(tmpFileRef.data); } function _onImageLoaded(evt:Event):void { bitmap=Bitmap(evt.target.content); bitmap.smoothing=true; if (bitmap.width>MAX_WIDTH||bitmap.height>MAX_HEIGHT) { resizeBitmap(bitmap); } uploadResizedImage(bitmap); } function resizeBitmap(target:Bitmap):void { if (target.height>target.width) { target.width=MAX_WIDTH; target.scaleY=target.scaleX; } else if (target.width >= target.height) { target.height=MAX_HEIGHT; target.scaleX=target.scaleY; } } function uploadResizedImage(target:Bitmap):void { var _bmd:BitmapData=new BitmapData(target.width,target.height); _bmd.draw(target, new Matrix(target.scaleX, 0, 0, target.scaleY)); var encoded_jpg:JPGEncoder=new JPGEncoder(90); var jpg_binary:ByteArray=encoded_jpg.encode(_bmd); _uploadService=new NetConnection(); _uploadService.objectEncoding=ObjectEncoding.AMF3 _uploadService.connect("http://.../amfphp/gateway.php"); _uploadService.call("UploadService.receiveByteArray",new Responder(success, error), jpg_binary, currentImageFilename); } Many thanks for you help

  • flash.display.Loader blocks on load in release build

    - by Anders
    I'm loading a swf-file from my program written in as3 using the flash.display.Loader class. When I'm using the debug build configuration in FlashDevelop everything works fine. But when I'm using the release build configuration the program freezes for around two seconds efter the loader sends the progress events and before sending the complete event. This is my program: package { import flash.display.Loader; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.ProgressEvent; import flash.net.URLRequest; import flash.system.LoaderContext; import flash.system.ApplicationDomain; import flash.text.TextField; public class Main extends Sprite { private var frameCounter:int; private var frameCounterField:TextField = new TextField; private var statusField:TextField = new TextField; function Main():void { if (stage) init(); else addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); } private function init(e:Event = null):void { removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, frame); frameCounterField.text = "On frame " + frameCounter.toString(); addChild(frameCounterField); statusField.y = 40; statusField.width = 300; addChild(statusField); var context:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null); var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("SomeFile.swf"); var loader:Loader = new Loader(); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgress); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete); loader.load(urlReq, context); } private function frame(event:Event):void { frameCounterField.text = "On frame " + (++frameCounter).toString(); } private function onProgress(event:ProgressEvent):void { statusField.appendText("Progress on frame: " + frameCounter.toString() + " Loaded: " + event.bytesLoaded + " / " + event.bytesTotal + "\n"); } private function onComplete(event:Event):void { statusField.appendText("Completed on frame: " + frameCounter.toString() + "\n"); } } } In release I get the following output on the first frame: On frame 1 Progress on frame: 1 Loaded: 0 / 182468 Progress on frame: 1 Loaded: 65536 / 182468 Progress on frame: 1 Loaded: 131072 / 182468 Progress on frame: 1 Loaded: 182468 / 182468 After around two seconds where the program is frozen the line Completed on frame: 2 is added and the 'On frame X' counter starts ticking up. Debug build produces the same output but without the freeze. Not all swf-files I have tried loading triggers the problem. The size of the file doesn't seem to affect anything. I have tried compiling and running on another computer with the same result. What could cause this problem?

  • AS3 "Loader" progress immediately goes to 100%

    - by Bart van Heukelom
    If you go to http://moederdagontbijtplacemat.nl/ you will see a progress bar. The application is loading a fairly large SWF from the server using the Loader class. Strangely enough, the progress bar immediately goes to 100% (but the loading still takes a while after that). The code is below, but you'll see it's basically too simple to break. It has worked when the application was on a different server, so I though maybe the new server wasn't sending the size of the large SWF in the http headers. Firebug does show a progress bar though, so that is not the case, the information should be available. It also works when I run the loader swf locally and change the URL (new URLRequest("Placemat.swf")) to the absolute URL of Placemat.swf on the server. var l:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(l); l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, function(e:ProgressEvent) { s.setProgress(e.bytesLoaded/e.bytesTotal); trace(Math.round(100 * e.bytesLoaded/e.bytesTotal), "%"); }); l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, function() { removeChild(s); }); l.load(new URLRequest("Placemat.swf"));

  • UIComponent extended class isn't showing UIComponent extended class

    - by Arno
    I have 1 class (that is extending a UIcomponent) that is representing a component. In that component I create different instances of another class that is also a UIComponent but this class doesn't show up in de first class. I see that it is running and that it has the correct hights but I got the feeling that it doesn't show up with this hights. If I trace I see the width and height is 200 X 200 but there is still nothing visible in my component I bet there is a simple solution for this problem?

  • Flex3 / Air 2: NativeProcess doesn't accepts standard input data (Error #2044 & #3218)

    - by Edward
    Hi: I'm trying to open cmd.exe on a new process and pass some code to programatically eject a device; but when trying to do this all I get is: "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #3218: Error while writing data to NativeProcess.standardInput." Here's my code: private var NP:NativeProcess = new NativeProcess(); private function EjectDevice():void { var RunDLL:File = new File("C:\\Windows\\System32\\cmd.exe"); var NPI:NativeProcessStartupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo(); NPI.executable = RunDLL; NP.start(NPI); NP.addEventListener(Event.STANDARD_OUTPUT_CLOSE, CatchOutput, false, 0, true); NP.standardInput.writeUTFBytes("start C:\\Windows\\System32\\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll"); NP.closeInput(); } I also tried with writeUTF instead of writeUTFBytes, but I still get the error. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?. Thanks for your time :) Edward.

  • Cross-domain policy issues after redirect in Flash

    - by ggambett
    I'm having trouble with a cross-domain policy. I'm using the AS3 Loader to fetch an image; I'm making it load the policy file, like this : var pLoader : Loader = new Loader(); var pContext : LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(); pContext.checkPolicyFile = true; pLoader.load(new URLRequest(sURL), pContext); This works fine as long as the image is directly accessible; however, when the server sends a redirect, the loader follows it but loses the checkPolicyFile flag, resulting in a SecurityException - that is, it doesn't check the cross-domain policy of the redirected URL. I've found a solution here ( http://www.stevensacks.net/2008/12/23/solution-as3-security-error-2122-with-300-redirects ) but looks fragile (that is, looks like it will fail if there's more than one redirect). What would be the correct way of doing this?

  • Flex Flash Action Script Form Events

    - by peiklk
    Doing some development in Flash Builder 4 using Action Script 3.0. I'm trying to have some code run each time the form is displayed. The form is not always recreated, but sometimes hidden and reused. Visual Basic used to have an Activate event that does similar to what I want. I tried Render, but that fires every time the form changes (via click, text-edit, etc.) We tried the FlexEvent.ADD, but it only fires when the form is first created, same as creation_complete. Is there a good resource that shows the form "life cycle" and all the events and when they are fired and in what order? TIA! NOTE: I'm trying to get our forms to close when the ESC is pressed.

  • Flex: How to refresh/repaint a chart?

    - by Rob
    I have a chart for which the data is provided asynchronously via a CallResponder (used with a RemoteObject). However, it does not seem possible to update the chart with the data after it has been initially drawn. Here are the relevant snippets of (simplified) code: // code below is in the application MXML <mx:CallResponder id="result" result="resultHandler(event)" /> private function resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { // panel is an instance of ChartPanel this.panel.init(event.result); } // invoked when user clicks a button private function displayChart():void { this.currentState = "ShowChart"; result.token = remoteObject.getUrlStatistics(); } // code below is in ChartPanel <mx:BarChart id="chart" /> public function init(value:Object):void { var xml:XMLList = XMLList(value); var data:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); for each (var element:XML in xml.children()) { // not shown: extract value out of XML, put in ArrayList data.addItem(...); } this.chart.dataProvider = data; } The result is that it draws an empty chart. the resultHandler function or init function in ChartPanel needs to trigger a repaint or something similar. I have tried: Firing a collection modified event after assigning it to chart.dataProvider calling invalidateDisplayList (tried with all components) binding the chart data provider to a variable, and doing the above. changing the view state on the last line of resultHandler. None of them worked. When I fetch the data and cache it locally, then use it to call init synchronously, the chart displays correctly. What am I missing here?

  • ItemFocusIn Not Working on Non-Editable DataGrid in Flex

    - by Joshua
    I realize that ItemFocusIn is somehow only applicable to editable datagrids in flex, nevertheless I want to fire an event anytime the user selects a new row in a non-editable datagrid. I have successfully used the CLICK event, but this event is not fired when the user uses the keyboard to select a different row in the datagrid. What do I have to do to cause an event to fire whenever the currently highlighted row in the datagrid changes, regardless of weather it was changed by the mouse or by the keyboard?

  • Placement coordinates of bitmapData in AS3

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    i've programatically created a vector graphic (rect), repositioned the graphic, and set up an MOUSE_MOVE eventListener to trace color information of the graphic using getPixel(). however, the bitmapData is placed at 0,0 of the stage and i don't know how to move it so that it matches the graphic's location. var coloredSquare:Sprite = new GradientRect(200, 200, 0xFFFFFF, 0x000000, 0xFF0000, 0xFFFF00); coloredSquare.x = 100; addChild(coloredSquare); var coloredSquareBitmap:BitmapData = new BitmapData(coloredSquare.width, coloredSquare.height, true, 0); coloredSquareBitmap.draw(coloredSquare); coloredSquare.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, readColor); function readColor(evt:Event):void { var pixelValue:uint = coloredSquare.getPixel(mouseX, mouseY); trace(pixelValue.toString(16)); }

  • How do I stop a datagrid's first-row itemRenderer from instantiating/adding/initializing/etc twice?

    - by Michael Prescott
    In a Flex DataGrid's first row, the itemRenderer will initialize twice. Tracing the results reveals that the flex framework is possibly creating two instances of the first row's itemRenderer. In a more complex application, where the itemRenderer contains a data-bound ColorPicker, we're seeing an infinite loop occur because of this problem. Only the first row's itemRenderer is initialized twice. Is there a way to override flex's behavior and stop this from occurring? The following code demonstrates the problem: Main Application: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" initialize="on_initialize(event);"> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ /** * This experiment shows how the first row's itemrenderer is instantiated/added/initialized twice. * We've never even noticed this before we found that a data-bound ColorPicker enters a infinite * loop when it is within an itemRenderer. */ import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.events.FlexEvent; private var dg_array:Array; private var dg_arrayCollection:ArrayCollection; private function on_initialize(event:FlexEvent):void { dg_array = new Array(); dg_arrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); dg_arrayCollection.addItem("item 1"); dg_arrayCollection.addItem("item 2"); dg.dataProvider = dg_arrayCollection; } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:DataGrid id="dg" width="100%" height="100%" rowCount="5"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Name" itemRenderer="SimpleItemRenderer"/> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid> </mx:Application> SimpleItemRenderer: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="400" height="300" initialize="//on_initialize(event);"> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.events.FlexEvent; [Bindable] override public function set data(value:Object):void { _data = value; } override public function get data():Object { return _data; } private var _data:Object; private function on_initialize_textInput(event:FlexEvent):void { trace("initialize:event.target="+event.target+", " + _data); // runs twice, for the first item only } private function on_creationComplete_textInput(event:FlexEvent):void { trace("creationComplete:event.target="+event.target+", " + _data); // runs twice, for the first item only } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:TextInput text="{data}" id="textInput" initialize="on_initialize_textInput(event);" creationComplete="on_creationComplete_textInput(event);"/> </mx:Canvas> Abbreviated Output: initialize:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer12.textInput, null initialize:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer24.textInput, null creationComplete:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer24.textInput, item 1 initialize:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer29.textInput, null creationComplete:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer29.textInput, item 2 creationComplete:event.target=ItemRenderers0.dg...SimpleItemRenderer12.textInput, item 1

  • AS3 : RegExp exec method in loop problem

    - by Boun
    Hi everyone, I need some help about RegExp in AS3. I have a simple pattern : patternYouTube = new RegExp ( "v(?:\/|=)([A-Z0-9_-]+)", "gi" ); This pattern is looking for the youTube id video. For example : var tmpUrl : String; var result : Object; var toto : Array = new Array(); toto = [http://www.youtube.com/v/J-vCxmjCm-8&autoplay=1, http://www.youtube.com/v/xFTRnE1WBmU&autoplay=1]; var i : uint; for ( i = 0 ; i < toto.length ; i++) { tmpUrl = toto[i]; result = patternYouTube.exec ( tmpUrl ); if ( result.length != 0 && result != null ) { trace(result); } } When i == 0, it works perfectly. Flash returns me : v/J-vCxmjCm-8,J-vCxmjCm-8 When i == 1, it fails. Flash returns me : null When I revert the two strings in my array such as : toto = [ http://www.youtube.com/v/xFTRnE1WBmU&autoplay=1, http://www.youtube.com/v/J-vCxmjCm-8&autoplay=1 ]; When i == 0, it works perfectly : Flash returns me : xFTRnE1WBmU When i == 1, it fails : Flash returns me : null Do you have any idea about the problem in the loop ?

  • Pseudorandom crashes in Flash Debugger - My bad, or Abode's?

    - by rinogo
    I'm working on a large-size dual AS3/Flex project (some parts are pure AS3, other parts are Flex), and I'm experiencing a lot of Flash Debugger crashes. These crashes aren't completely random - it seems like I can get them to occur with greater consistency when I perform certain actions in my app. However, at the same time, they aren't consistently repeatable - sometimes a set of actions causes my app to crash, and other times, the same steps execute fine without a crash. I have two questions (carefully worded to remove my personal bias :) ) Are these crashes due to my coding practices, or Adobe's Flash Debugger? When I deploy my app on a web site and access it via Flash Player, should I expect the same crashes to occur, or is Flash Player considerably more resilient than Flash Debugger? Thanks so much, all! :) -Rich

  • Set registration point of a MovieClip to its center in AS3

    - by Mirko
    Can I set the registration point of a MovieClip (or other Display Object) to its center upon creation in AS3? the following var myClip:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); sets the registration point of myClip to its top left corner by default. Using Flash CS4 to set it to its center is just a couple of clicks, so I am wondering how I can perform the same action only with code.

  • AS3 Classes - Should I use them?

    - by Eric
    I'm working on a project in Flash CS4/AS3 and I have a document class set up but I am wondering about using that, as opposed to frame-based scripting. Most of what I have seen so far deals with how to create them, but doesn't offer much about why or when to use them. I know I can also pull in other classes beyond the document class but, again, why and when? Could I get some input from you fine people out there on usage/best practice, etc? Thanks
