• End-to-end kerberos delegated authentication in ASP.NET

  I'm trying to setup an internal website that will contact another backend service within the network on behalf of the user using a HttpWebRequest. I have to use Integrated Windows Authentication on the ASP.NET application as the backend system only supports this type of authentication. I'm able to setup IWA on the ASP.NET application, and it's using kerberos as I expect it to. However when the authentication is delegated to the backend system it doesn't work anymore. This is because the backend system only supports kerberos IWA, but the delegation for some reason - even though the incoming request is kerberos authenticated - converts the authentication to NTLM before forwaring to the backend system. Does anybody know what I need to do on the ASP.NET application in order to allow it to forward the identity using kerberos? I've currently tried the followin but it doesn't seem to work CredentialCache credentialCache = new CredentialCache(); credentialCache.Add(request.RequestUri, "Negotiate", CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials.GetCredential(request.RequestUri, "Kerberos")); request.Credentials = credentialCache; I've also tried to set "Kerberos" where it now says "Negotiate", but it doesn't seem to do much.

• Data Driven MSTest: DataRow is always null

  I am having a problem using Visual Studio data driven testing. I have tried to deconstruct this to the simplest example. I am using Visual Studio 2012. I create a new unit test project. I am referencing system data. I have added a .testsettings file to the solution, and set enable deployment, and added the csv file. I have tried this with and without |DataDirectory|, and with/without a full path specified (the same path that I get with Environment.CurrentDirectory). I've tried variations of "../" and "../../" just in case. Right now the csv is at the project root level, same as the .cs test code file. I have tried variations with xml as well as csv. TestContext is not null, but DataRow always is. I have not gotten this to work despite a lot of fiddling with it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does mstest create a log anywhere that would tell me if it is failing to find the csv file, or what specific error might be causing DataRow to fail to populate? I have tried the following csv files: ID 1 2 3 4 and ID, Whatever 1,0 2,1 3,2 4,3 So far, no dice.

• Using jQuery with Windows 8 Metro JavaScript App causes security error

  Since it sounded like jQuery was an option for Metro JavaScript apps, I was starting to look forward to Windows 8 dev. I installed Visual Studio 2012 Express RC and started a new project (both empty and grid templates have the same problem). I made a local copy of jQuery 1.7.2 and added it as a script reference. <!-- SomeTestApp references --> <link href="/css/default.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script src="/js/jquery-1.7.2.js"></script> <script src="/js/default.js"></script> Unfortunately, as soon as I ran the resulting app it tosses out a console error: HTML1701: Unable to add dynamic content ' a' A script attempted to inject dynamic content, or elements previously modified dynamically, that might be unsafe. For example, using the innerHTML property to add script or malformed HTML will generate this exception. Use the toStaticHTML method to filter dynamic content, or explicitly create elements and attributes with a method such as createElement. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=247104. I slapped a breakpoint in a non-minified version of jQuery and found the offending line: div.innerHTML = " <link/><table></table><a href='/a' style='top:1px;float:left;opacity:.55;'>a</a><input type='checkbox'/>"; Apparently, the security model for Metro apps forbids creating elements this way. This error doesn't cause any immediate issues for the user, but given its location, I am worried it will cause capability-discovery tests in jQuery to fail that shouldn't. I definitely want jQuery $.Deferred for making just about everything easier. I would prefer to be able to use the selector engine and event handling systems, but I would live without them if I had to. How does one get the latest jQuery to play nicely with Metro development?

• Flickering problem with world matrix

  I do have a pretty wierd problem today. As soon as I try to change my translation- or rotationmatrix for an object to something else than (0,0,0), the object starts to flicker (scaling works fine). It rapid and randomly switches between the spot it should be in and a crippled something. I first thought that the problem would be z-fighting, but now Im pretty sure it isn't. I have now clue at all what it could be, here are two screenshots of the two states the plant is switching between. I already used PIX, but could find anything of use (Im not a very good debugger anyway) I would appreciate any help, thanks a lot! In this program I have one item (a simple box) that moves (it has its world matrix called matrixBox), and other items are static entire time (there is a world matrix that holds those elements called simply world). The problem i that when I move the box, bounding spheres move with it. So how can I bind all BoundingSpheres (except the one corresponding to the box) to the static world matrix so that they stay in their place when the box moves?

• World Record Performance on PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials Benchmark on SPARC T4-2

  Oracle's SPARC T4-2 server achieved World Record performance on Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials 9.1 executing 20 Million Journals lines in 8.92 minutes on Oracle Database 11g Release 2 running on Oracle Solaris 11. This is the first result published on this version of the benchmark. The SPARC T4-2 server was able to process 20 million general ledger journal edit and post batch jobs in 8.92 minutes on this benchmark that reflects a large customer environment that utilizes a back-end database of nearly 500 GB. This benchmark demonstrates that the SPARC T4-2 server with PeopleSoft Financials 9.1 can easily process 100 million journal lines in less than 1 hour. The SPARC T4-2 server delivered more than 146 MB/sec of IO throughput with Oracle Database 11g running on Oracle Solaris 11. • How to turn off Tomcat logging in Eclipse?

  I develop a Vaadin project in Eclipse that I start through Tomcat 6 which gets started directly by Eclipse. Tomcat prints an enormous amount of log messages though on each start which makes it hard to see the output of my own Application. I have already replaced all log levels in tomcat6/conf/logging.properties by WARNING (e.g. java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = WARNING) but I still get many INFO messages. How can I turn this off or restrict the log messages to WARNING?   I'm curious as to how I could have negative downtime that keeps increasing, as well as uptime beyond 100%.   Using: COCOS2D + iOS. I want to rotate the game world, may be loading another .tmx file for another dimensions when user want to switch dimension. the effect what I am looking for is something like this:CLICK HERE What I have thought of till now: rotating CCCamera will be mandatory. Question: How will I have the other part of the level in place while the camera rotates/rotating? I can load a CCSprite and rotate it accordingly to the 3rd dimension. phew..!! Question: When the camera and world is rotated, will the player controls work properly.. I think not...? I think a better option would be to checkout with COCOS3D... there I could implement 3d world... right?? Question: Not sure how well 2d dynamics will work there as I want to user Box2d as physics engine.. could anyone provide suggestions? Regards, Sam

  I think I heard on a previous StackOverflow podcast that COBOL was used as the programming language for traffic lights (or something like that), so this got me interested. I did a quick Google search and found this little article: Today, Cobol is everywhere, yet largely unheard of by millions of people who interact with it daily when using the ATM, stopping at traffic lights or buying a product online. The statistics on Cobol attest to its huge influence on the business world: There are over 220 billion lines of Cobol in existence, a figure which equates to about 80 per cent of the world’s actively used code. There over a million Cobol programmers in the world. There are 200 times as many Cobol transactions that take place each day than Google searches. I didn't really trust the source seeing as how it's on some random PHPBB forum. So how accurate are these figures? Are there really 220 billion lines of COBOL? I assume a few people/companies still use COBOL, but how many?

Sure enough, a quick check of the Independent Oracle User Group's website tells us a bit about the Real World Performance Day event, but no formal agenda?   I am new to game development and never implemented a complicated (and realistic) lighting. My game uses a 3d voxel terrain world (like Minecraft). To hold the data I use octrees. My goal is to render a more realistic world scene like in most voxel games. For that I want to use a bezier algorithm to round out the blocky world. Assume that I already have a large generated polygon of my terrain (or some of them). I heard of some techniques like volumetric light, global illumination, ... What approaches of a very realistic lighting are there for my "organic shaped" voxel game?

• Obtain rectangle indicating 2D world space camera can see

  I have a 2D tile based game in XNA, with a moveable camera that can scroll around and zoom. I'm trying to obtain a rectangle which indicates the area, in world space, that my camera is looking at, so I can render anything this rectangle intersects with (currently, everything is rendered). • how to transform child elements position into a world position

  So Im making a 2d space game and I have a bunch of spaceships that have turrets. Objects have a position and orientation, the ships being in world coordinates while the turrets are children and coordinates are relative to their parents. How do I efficiently calculate the position of a turret in world coordinates (i.e. when it fires and I need to know where to place a bullet in the world)? Calculating the turrets orientation is trivial - I just add the turrets relative angle to its parents. For position though, I guess I could do a bunch of trigonometry but this MUST be a common problem with a good/fast general solution? Should I be relearning how to do matrix math again? :) btw - Im creating the game in javascript+canvas but its the math/algorithm im interested in here Cheers, Greg
