• Complex SQL query... 3 tables and need the most popular in the last 24 hours using timestamps!

  Hey guys, I have 3 tables with a column in each which relates to one ID per row. I am looking for an sql statement query which will check all 3 tables for any rows in the last 24 hours (86400 seconds) i have stored timestamps in each tables under column time. After I get this query I will be able to do the next step which is to then check to see how many of the ID's a reoccurring so I can then sort by most popular in the array and limit it to the top 5... • Animating a font size change in a UITableView

  Hey Simple little app for educational purposes, its a simple uitableview and I want users to be able to use a uislider to adjust the font size as needed. The code I have now works to change the font but only when the view is updated, ie when i pull up or down the table view to reveal other cells. • What's the best way to count unique visitors with Hadoop?

  hey all, just getting started on hadoop and curious what the best way in mapreduce would be to count unique visitors if your logfiles looked like this... DATE siteID action username 05-05-2010 siteA pageview jim 05-05-2010 siteB pageview tom 05-05-2010 siteA pageview jim 05-05-2010 siteB pageview bob 05-05-2010 siteA pageview mike and for each site you wanted to find out the unique visitors for each site? I was thinking the mapper would emit siteID \t username and the reducer would keep a set() of the unique usersnames per key and then emit the length of that set. However that would be potentially storing millions of usernames in memory which doesn't seem right. Anyone have a better way? I'm using python streaming by the way thanks

  Hey guys, As a personal project, I'm looking to build a rudimentary DBMS. I've read the relevant sections in Elmasri & Navathe (5ed), but could use a more focused text. The rub is that I want to play with novel non-relational data models. While a lot of E&N was great- indexing implementation details in particular- the more advanced DBMS implementation was only targeted to a relational model. I could also use something a bit more practical and detail-oriented, with real-world recommendations. I'd like to defer staring at DBMS source for a while if I can. Any ideas?

  Hey, I am trying to either create a file that doesn't exist or write to a file that already does. within a php file I am trying this: $file = fopen("data.txt", "a"); fwrite($file, "\n" . $name); fwrite($file, "," . $lastname); fwrite($file, "," . $email); fclose($file); I am running Apache under windows Xp and have no luck that the file "data.txt" is being created. • CSS button not styling

  Hey, I must be missing something obvious, but can someone explain what I'm doing wrong with my CSS? I would like all buttons to have a certain format, except a few. I was expecting to use CssClass in order to override the few that should be different, but they all seem to use the standard one. My CSS: .btn { border:none; background-color:red; } input[type="submit"] { border: 2px solid black; background-color:green; } All the buttons take the second value (green background, with a border). However, I have this button: <asp:Button ID="btnAdd" CssClass="btn" runat="server" Text="Add" /> I was expecting this to have no border, and a red background, but it's the same as every other button. Let's say I have 2 properties: Password1 Password2 And I want to require that they are both filled in, and require that both are the same before the model is valid. I have a simple class called "NewUser". How would I implement that? I've read about ValidationAttribute, and understand that. But I don't see how I would use that to implement a validation that compares two or more properties against eathother. Thanks in advance!

  I have a text and it should be abled to scrolled only up and down to see entire text. and my application is a game and written in cocos2d. So, I have layers. There is also an image(CCSprite) adjacent to text. The text should be scrolled and the image have a touchesEnded: property. I used CCLabel for text and CCParallaxNode to add the text. But the text appears like a continues paragraph. But, my text should have different lines. My text is like this. //text starts Hey Player. Do you want to play the game right now then play. • Background job with status in rails

  Hey. I would like to upload a file and then parse it. Because parsing can take up to 10min I installed delayed_job plugin and called parsing function through send_later function. I have to mention that this is an AJAX app. Imagine that you press an AJAX button that starts upload and after that the source is imported into the database. During the process I want to show the progress bar or message (importing...) and when it completes the task status changes to done. My question is: What is the best way to check for status of the process. What would you do? My idea is to have another controller actions "status" which look into the database and provide the right status.

  Hey, I would like to save a modified model, but I get Programming error - that a field is specified twice. class ProductInfo(models.Model): product_info_id = models.AutoField(primary_key=True) language_id = models.IntegerField() product_id = models.IntegerField() description = models.TextField(blank=True) status = models.IntegerField() model = models.CharField(max_length=255, blank=True) label = models.ForeignKey(Category_info, verbose_name = 'Category_info', db_column = 'language_id', to_field = 'node_id', null = True) I get this error because the foreign key uses as db_column language_id. If I will delete it, my object will be saved properly. I dont quite understand whats going on and since I have defined almost all of my models this way, I fear its totally wrong or maybe I just missunderstood it... Any ideas? Regards

• ASP.NET Excel Export formatting question

  Hey Guys, I've been banging my head on the wall over this issue for a couple days now and I need some help. I'm creating an excel file using ASP.net and everything is going just fine except one column has to be formatted as a decimal to 2 places but when it pulls into excel, excel automatically formats it as a whole number instead of keeping the decimal places. sw.Write(String.Format("{0:f}", CDbl(dr(14)).ToString("0.00"))) this produces "20.00" but when I open it in excel it's displayed as 20...if I select the whole column and format it as a number it gets displayed as 20.00 like it's supposed to but I don't want to have to do this (I can't do that) the file is supposed to be automatically picked up and imported into another system that needs the column to be a decimal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• call method in a subclass of UIView

  Hey, I've got a UIViewController and an own class, a subclass of UIView. In my ViewController I make a instance of the uiview. If I tap the uiview a function gets called within it and an overlay appears. TO get rid of that overlay later the user has to tap somewhere on the screen(besides the instance of my class) How do I tell my class to dismiss the overlay? I already thought of delegate. So my thoughts were to make a MyUIViewControllerdelegate. If my viewcontroller receives a tap the delegate should be called. THe only problem is how do I tell my subclass that it should receive that delegate? I Have no instance of my viewcontroller in my subclass so I can not set the delegate. Any Ideas?   Hey Guys I am getting several errors only on IE8 running on my vista OS. On the other browsers (Chrome, FF, Safari) everything works fine. Not sure where to begin looking. When I open a new IE8 browser and enter the homepage URL of my website - I get the following error and the page opens up blank: Line: 19 Character: 12043 Code: 0 Error Message: Object required URL: http://xyz.com/js/jquery.js Then in one other place - I have a modal form which has a text area - when I start typing - after typing every character - this error shows up Line: 19 Character: 30711 Code: 0 Error Message: 'this[...].style' is null or not an object URL: http://xyz.com/js/jquery.js Thanks for your help

When I try the following: $args = array( 4, 'test' => 'hello', 'hi' ); You know.. some numerical elements some associative elements, call_user_func_array($function, $args); converts the array to something like this: $args = array( 4, 'hello', 'hi' ); Is there any way around this other than passing an array like this: $args = array( 4, array('test' => 'hello'), 'hi' ); Thanks! • Client/JS Framework for "Unsaved Data" Protection?

  Hey all- we have a typical web application that is essentially a data entry application with lots of screens some of which have some degree of complexity. We need to provide that standard capability on making sure if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before navigating away or closing their browser they get a warning and can cancel (but only when there is unsaved or dirty data). I know the basics of what I've got to do-- in fact I'm sure I've done it all before over the years (tie in to onbeforeunload, track the "dirty" state of the page, etc...) but before I embark on coding this YET AGAIN, does anyone have some suggestions for libraries already out there (free or otherwise) that will help out? So the form elements have the class="required" attribute. input type="text" name="last_name" class="required"/ Now if i want to apply some css properties to the input fields of this form - how do I do that. I do not want to declare a general css for all input elements - I have declared the css as follows: input.form { color: #000; background: #fff; border: 2px solid #E1E1E1; font-size: 16pt; width:150px; } And I want to use it this way input class="form" type="text" name="last_name" class="required"/ But this wont work as there are two class attributes here. • Autoplay an Audio File on Mobile Safari

  Hey guys, I've got a little system dashboard web app that I've written, replete with alarm notifications. I've had it working for quite some time on mobile safari, but recently wanted to add audio to the alarm notifications to allow me to easily know when there are alarms and I'm not looking directly at the display. The alarm notifications are populated through a (relatively) constantly polling ajax request that pulls in and displays an alarm banner if alarms are present. I wanted to add an auto-playing 'alarm' sound as well, but no dice for Safari Mobile. I've tried using HTML5 and embedded objects with no avail. The Apple documentation does state that you can't auto-play an audio file and it must be activated through user action to conserve bandwidth. Has anyone found a way around this in a WLAN setting?

Or will I have to manually apply the transform myself and thus doubling up the work? The reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind implementing display lists.

• Why does Git display certain new folders when checking out old revisions?

  Hey all - I'm still learning the ropes of Git (love it!) but the other day I noticed some behavior I just do not understand. We have, in essence, three folders that got moved into the repository at different times (one immediately after we created the repo, one a little while later, and one just recently). Recently, I had to get some code out of an old revision. I used git checkout <old SHA1 hash> to pull up one of our first checkins, when I noticed Git showed the old folder (as it should), as well as the newest folder (which got added to the repo long after the checked out commit was made). But it did not show the second folder. What would cause Git to display the newest folder with the old revision?
