• Java RandomAccessFile - dealing with different newline styles?

  Hey, I'm trying to seek through a RandomAccessFile, and as part of an algorithm I have to read a line, and then seek backwards from the end of the line E.g String line = raf.readLine(); raf.seek (raf.getFilePointer() - line.length() + m.start() + m.group().length()); //m is a Matcher for regular expressions I've been getting loads of off-by-one errors and couldn't figure out why. I just discovered it's because some files I'm reading from have UNIX-style linefeeds, \r\n, and some have just windows-style \n. Is there an easy to have the RandomAccessFile treat all linefeeds as windows-style linefeeds?

• Recaptcha being triggered from masterpage control

  Hey, I have a master page which contains a Login control so that the user can login/logout from any page. However, a couple of content pages require a Recaptcha control. This causes problems because when I try and log in on a page that has the Recaptcha control, the system expects me to enter the words. I'm aware of the lack of validation groups in the Recaptcha control, and the fact that you can't have multiple forms on an ASP.NET page. Is there a way to work around this? A 'hacky' way I can think of, is in the "Login" event, check the page for a Recaptcha control. If one exists, then disable it, otherwise continue. However, that just seems quite inefficient especially when there are quite a few pages and most won't have a Recaptcha control.

How do I add search date to the dataString so that I can use that var in my searchdata.php? In searchdata, I can do this $search_word=$_GET['search_word']; and use that var, but so far every time i attempt to alter the dataString, it breaks all the other functionality. Thanks!

  hey all, just getting started on hadoop and curious what the best way in mapreduce would be to count unique visitors if your logfiles looked like this... DATE siteID action username 05-05-2010 siteA pageview jim 05-05-2010 siteB pageview tom 05-05-2010 siteA pageview jim 05-05-2010 siteB pageview bob 05-05-2010 siteA pageview mike and for each site you wanted to find out the unique visitors for each site? I was thinking the mapper would emit siteID \t username and the reducer would keep a set() of the unique usersnames per key and then emit the length of that set. However that would be potentially storing millions of usernames in memory which doesn't seem right. Anyone have a better way? I'm using python streaming by the way thanks

  Hey guys, As a personal project, I'm looking to build a rudimentary DBMS. I've read the relevant sections in Elmasri & Navathe (5ed), but could use a more focused text. The rub is that I want to play with novel non-relational data models. While a lot of E&N was great- indexing implementation details in particular- the more advanced DBMS implementation was only targeted to a relational model. I could also use something a bit more practical and detail-oriented, with real-world recommendations. I'd like to defer staring at DBMS source for a while if I can. Any ideas?

  Hey, I would like to save a modified model, but I get Programming error - that a field is specified twice. class ProductInfo(models.Model): product_info_id = models.AutoField(primary_key=True) language_id = models.IntegerField() product_id = models.IntegerField() description = models.TextField(blank=True) status = models.IntegerField() model = models.CharField(max_length=255, blank=True) label = models.ForeignKey(Category_info, verbose_name = 'Category_info', db_column = 'language_id', to_field = 'node_id', null = True) I get this error because the foreign key uses as db_column language_id. If I will delete it, my object will be saved properly. I dont quite understand whats going on and since I have defined almost all of my models this way, I fear its totally wrong or maybe I just missunderstood it... Any ideas? Regards

There is also an image(CCSprite) adjacent to text. The text should be scrolled and the image have a touchesEnded: property. I used CCLabel for text and CCParallaxNode to add the text. Let's say I have 2 properties: Password1 Password2 And I want to require that they are both filled in, and require that both are the same before the model is valid. I have a simple class called "NewUser". How would I implement that? I've read about ValidationAttribute, and understand that. But I don't see how I would use that to implement a validation that compares two or more properties against eathother. Thanks in advance!

• Code for adding Content Controls Word 2007 C#

  Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how I can add Content Controls to a Word Document (Office 2007) from the Document Task/Action Pane via C#. The goal is the following: I want to have categorized information in the Task/Action Pane and have the user fill out the info there. Once they have filled out that information they'll click on a button and it will insert content Controls into the Word Document that has that Data. The reason I want to use Content Controls is because the data will be bound to a database. Is this possible? I would like links that do this without WordProcessingML or OpenXML. There has to be a way to do this via server side code and such that doesn't require long blocks of ,, etc. Thanks!

• Background job with status in rails

  Hey. I would like to upload a file and then parse it. Because parsing can take up to 10min I installed delayed_job plugin and called parsing function through send_later function. I have to mention that this is an AJAX app. Imagine that you press an AJAX button that starts upload and after that the source is imported into the database. During the process I want to show the progress bar or message (importing...) and when it completes the task status changes to done. My question is: What is the best way to check for status of the process. What would you do? My idea is to have another controller actions "status" which look into the database and provide the right status.

• Client/JS Framework for "Unsaved Data" Protection?

  Hey all- we have a typical web application that is essentially a data entry application with lots of screens some of which have some degree of complexity. We need to provide that standard capability on making sure if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before navigating away or closing their browser they get a warning and can cancel (but only when there is unsaved or dirty data). I know the basics of what I've got to do-- in fact I'm sure I've done it all before over the years (tie in to onbeforeunload, track the "dirty" state of the page, etc...) but before I embark on coding this YET AGAIN, does anyone have some suggestions for libraries already out there (free or otherwise) that will help out?   Hey, I am trying to either create a file that doesn't exist or write to a file that already does. within a php file I am trying this: $file = fopen("data.txt", "a"); fwrite($file, "\n" . $name); fwrite($file, "," . $lastname); fwrite($file, "," . $email); fclose($file); I am running Apache under windows Xp and have no luck that the file "data.txt" is being created. • Why does Git display certain new folders when checking out old revisions?

  Hey all - I'm still learning the ropes of Git (love it!) but the other day I noticed some behavior I just do not understand. We have, in essence, three folders that got moved into the repository at different times (one immediately after we created the repo, one a little while later, and one just recently). Recently, I had to get some code out of an old revision. I used git checkout <old SHA1 hash> to pull up one of our first checkins, when I noticed Git showed the old folder (as it should), as well as the newest folder (which got added to the repo long after the checked out commit was made). But it did not show the second folder. What would cause Git to display the newest folder with the old revision?

  Hey, I've got a UIViewController and an own class, a subclass of UIView. In my ViewController I make a instance of the uiview. If I tap the uiview a function gets called within it and an overlay appears. TO get rid of that overlay later the user has to tap somewhere on the screen(besides the instance of my class) How do I tell my class to dismiss the overlay? I already thought of delegate. So my thoughts were to make a MyUIViewControllerdelegate. If my viewcontroller receives a tap the delegate should be called. THe only problem is how do I tell my subclass that it should receive that delegate? I Have no instance of my viewcontroller in my subclass so I can not set the delegate. Any Ideas? When I try the following: $args = array( 4, 'test' => 'hello', 'hi' ); You know.. some numerical elements some associative elements, call_user_func_array($function, $args); converts the array to something like this: $args = array( 4, 'hello', 'hi' ); Is there any way around this other than passing an array like this: $args = array( 4, array('test' => 'hello'), 'hi' ); Thanks! So the form elements have the class="required" attribute. input type="text" name="last_name" class="required"/ Now if i want to apply some css properties to the input fields of this form - how do I do that. I do not want to declare a general css for all input elements - I have declared the css as follows: input.form { color: #000; background: #fff; border: 2px solid #E1E1E1; font-size: 16pt; width:150px; } And I want to use it this way input class="form" type="text" name="last_name" class="required"/ But this wont work as there are two class attributes here. • Jquery - Errors only in Internet Explorer

  Hey Guys I am getting several errors only on IE8 running on my vista OS. On the other browsers (Chrome, FF, Safari) everything works fine. Not sure where to begin looking. • Why does my Windows Form app timeout when repeatedly hitting IIS 7 externally?

  hey guys, I've got a very simple Windows Form app that hits an IIS 7 site about 2000 times in the space of a few seconds (using threads). When I run that app on the server itself, using either localhost or the ip address, everything is totally fine. However, when I run the app on my dev box, using the ip address, I get an error from the "GetResponse" method: The operation has timed out The App can definitely connect to the site, because it consistently either starts throwing the timeout error after 10 or so hits (no more than 11), or it throws the timeout error immediately. What's going on? It's hitting IIS 7 on a Windows Server 2008 VM (external box), Windows Firewall is OFF. My App is running locally on my dev box as the admin. cheers
