• Copy and Paste problems in Visual Studio 2010

  tweetmeme_source = 'alpascual';After installing Visual Studio 2010 I started having problems with Copy and Paste. Trying to find out how many users are being affected by this bug. The use case to reproduce the bug, just using VS2010 for a few minutes and eventually doing Control C and Control V to copy lines of code does not work. Using the menu to do the copy and paste also wont work. Looks like a problem in the clipboard itself IMHO. The set up of my computer. • Language-independent sources on collision detection

  While making a Pong clone with a friend, we had to implement some collision detection. For research purposes, my friend dug up a book called "AdvancED Game Design with Flash" by Rex Van Der Spuy. This book was clearly targeted at implementing collision detection in ActionScript, and I also have some problems with how the concepts are presented, e.g. presenting one method as better than another, without explaining that decision. Can anyone recommend some good material on collision detection? I'd prefer it if kept the implementation details as language-independent as possible, e.g. by implementing the concepts in pseudo-code. Language-specific materials are not completely unwelcome though, though I'd prefer those to be in either Java, C#, F# or Python or similar languages, as those are the ones I'm most familiar with. :-) Lastly, is there perhaps widely known and used book on collision detection that most people should know about, like a 'the book on collision detection'?

  As Ubuntu seems to be making strategic preparations for a tablet-like experience, I wondered what priority smooth scrolling is for the team. A use case: I read PDFs on a netbook on a daily basis. Even with fullscreen, I have to scroll about every 10-15 seconds. Without smooth scroll, I have to spend a half second or so to "find" my place. Even though it seems like a small inconvenience, the increments add up quite fast. As a result, I look enviously at owners of a certain well-known tablet far too often. To begin with, check out what's new in this release: Authenticating Against an External Directory Booking Window for Calendars Changes to the davadmin Command Enable and Disable Account Autocreation LDAP Pools New Configuration Parameters New Languages New populate-davuniqueid Utility New Schema Objects Non-active Calendar Accounts Are No Longer Searched or Fetched Remote Document Store Authentication The upgrade is a bit more complicated than normal, as you must first apply some new schema elements to your Directory Server(s). To do so, you need to get the comm_dssetup 6.4 patch, patch the comm_dssetup script, and then run the patched comm_dssetup against your Directory Server(s) instances. In addition, if you are using the nsUniqueId attribute as your deployment's unique identifier, you'll want to change that to the new davUniqueId attribute. Consult the Upgrade Procedure for details, as well as DaBrain's blog, before forging ahead with this upgrade.   Just pondering the workings of the human mind - from an AI/robotics point of view (either of which I know little about)..   If conscience is when you're thinking about it (processing it in realtime)... and unconscience is when you're not thinking about it (eg it's autonomous behaviour)..  would it be fair to say then, that:   - conscience is software   - unconscience is hardware   Considering that human learning is attributed to the number of neural connections made - and repetition is the key - the more the connections, the better one understands the subject - until it becomes a 'known'.   Therefore could this be likened to forming hard connections?  Eg maybe learning would progress from an MCU to FPGA's - therefore offloading realtime process to the hardware (FPGA or some such device)? t

• All my bandwidth eaten up - report included

  I have my network bandwidth eaten up totally. Whenever I connect my network, without any application being opened it is always full. I have prepared report of iftop, nethogs and network system monitor. iftop and nethogs My host IP is 192.168.1.203 and all the rest are not known though I have tried to pin 192.168.1.105, it doesn't reply. If possible I would like to block the most disturbing IP which is 192.168.1.105 to block it. but don't know how.

• Google locking on Ubuntu

  Problem I'm facing is that Google doesn't respond well timed to connection requests send from any browsers known to Linux. As far as I can tell, this was existent in Mint, which is Ubuntu based. I have no debug or guess about cause but I'm sure there are people with the same problem. ping of terminal is untouched but any other browser keeps unloaded, for example; google loads fine, I search for something. Then I decide to search for something else and ta daa: You gotta wait for 30 seconds for Google server to respond. I tried using google's public DNS without success. Flare the suggestions & ideas!?
